Syncing email between ipad and mac.

When I delete email messages on my ipad they stay on the mac.  Can I set It up to delete on both devices?

It should delete them from your mac. Try checking for emails on both devices after deleting the email. That should work.

  • How do i sync emails between iPad and Macbook Pro

I have the iiPad2 with WiFi. I remember that I used iSync in the past between my Macbook and desktop unit. I also am signed up with me.com. Can anybody please advise me what's the best way to sync my emails? I use Apple's mail program. Thanks.

iSync has never synced email or anything between Macs.
To sync email you need to set your account up as IMAP (not POP3) on your iPad and Mac.
If you are using your MobileMe email address and have configured your MobileMe account on both Mac and iPad, then your email is automatically in sync.

  • Can't sync photos between iPad and Mac OS X since updates

Just updated OS X and iTunes, now got message that "iTunes will no longer sync photos to iPad" - sounds like Apple is trying to force me to pay for iCloud photo sharing. Any way to avoid that? I loved the previous easy sync approach.

  • Icloud document sync issue between ipad and mac

So was very excited when mountain lion could sync my spreadsheets (numbers) documents with my iPad, but having a weird issue (I think).
So I took one of my spreadsheets from my Mac, and moved to iCloud. Opened it up in Numbers (Mac), made a few changes, and saved it.
Now I go on my iPad, I see it. I open it up - great.
Now for some reason, I have a duplicate spreadsheets named 'Untitled'. I have no idea how it got there, I am not sure what happens if I delete it (or if I should).
Anybody know whats up with this?
    Thanks -

When you place a document into iCloud from your Mac and then try to open it on a mobile device, you will be given the option of opening the original document or opening a copy. It sounds to me that you have chosen to open a copy.

  • Can I sync email between iPad mini, iPad, and MacBook so that if I delete email using one device, it will also be deleted from the other two?

Can I sync email between iPad mini, iPad, and MacBook so that if I delete email using one device, it will also be deleted from the other two?

You have to set up the email account using IMAP instead of POP.
What type of email address is it? Yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc?

  • Here's how to sync your Notes between iPad and Mac

This is not immediately obvious and took me several conversations with various AppleCare techs before I finally got the solution as to why my notes on my iPad where not syncing to my Mac Pro. The problem seems to be that you can't sync if you only have Notes on your iPad. You must have notes on your Mac to which unlike Calendar and Contacts don't have corresponding standalone applications, iCal and Addressbook, respectively. Notes exist within Mac Mail. I only had Notes on my iPad and none on my Mac Pro. In this event here's what to do to get setup and syncing:
    SETUP:
    1. Go to System Preferences on your Mac > MobileMe > Sync > and make sure Notes is checked although, syncing via the cloud apparently won't happen until iOS 4.2.
    2. With Mac Mail launched, if you've never created a note in Mac Mail, in the left column you should see:
    MAILBOXES
    ON MY MAC
    RSS
or if you've created some notes on your Mac Mail, you'll see:
    MAILBOXES
    REMINDER
    - Notes
    ON MY MAC
    RSS
The key is you have to have REMINDERS created. So if you don't have it created, when you sync your iPad and Mac, the iPad doesn't know what to do as there's no "receptacle" for it's notes on your Mac.
So in Mail, in the top of the window create a new Note, click the notepad icon to the right of the New Message.
Now REMINDERS will be created in Mail's left column with this new note. You can simply put "Test" or whatever and click "Done" in the upper left of the Note's window.
    3. Plug your iPad into your Mac, in iTunes, in the left column click your iPad under DEVICES the Info tab in the top. At the bottom of the page is "Other" > click: Sync notes. Do NOT click the checkbox "Notes" in the next section under "Advanced"
    4. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the page and your iPad and Mac will begin to sync. It may take awhile as I believe it is doing both a sync and backup.
Once this process is done, you'll see your notes fully sync'd on your iPad and Mac. Yea! but there's more...
    5. Notes created in Mac Mail show up in 2 places: your MAILBOXES > Inbox and under REMINDERS > Notes, and if you delete the Mac Mail note in your inbox, it deletes the note in your REMINDERS.
This is unfortunate and not great interface design IMHO and should be remedied.
Luckily the last Tier 2 AppleCare tech I just spoke with had a workaround for this, which is:
    6. Create a new mailbox inside Notes under REMINDERS. Click Notes, then go to Mailbox > New Mailbox... in the top of your monitor screen.
Under the location pulldown it should show a notepad icon and On My Mac.
For the Name, I called my new mailbox "iPad Notes" Then click OK.
Then a triangle appears next to Notes mailbox to access this new subfolder (iPad Notes) and you then drag your now sync'd notes from Notes under REMINDERS to your "iPad Notes" subfolder under Notes. Now your left column will look like:
    MAILBOXES
    REMINDERS
    -Notes
    --iPad Notes
    ON MY MAC
    RSS
Doing this drag to "iPad Notes" will remove the note(s) from your inbox, but keep it in your REMINDERS and thus be available for Syncing, which currently can only be done with your iPad when plugged in via USB to your Mac.
Apparently, in iOS 4.2, you'll be able to use MobileMe to sync Notes just like Calendar and Contacts. We'll see.
I hope this is helpful. It took me awhile to get all this set up, and being that I am not an AppleCare tech, if you have questions instead of asking me, I recommend you call AppleCare and review with them. Let them know I got the above info from Tier 2 support.
Once iOS 4.2 and Lion come out, all this may, hopefully be a simpler process, but as of this writing, pre 4.2 and Lion, this is now working on my iPad and Mac Pro.
    Good Luck.
    Steven

Thanks ,,, but when I "Go to System Preferences on your Mac > MobileMe > Sync > and make sure Notes is checked"
I CANNOT check the "Notes". It is NOT highlighted. MAYBE because I am NOT logged-in to mail.mac.com?
Is this why my Sync Notes between MacBook Pro and iPAD 2 does NOT work?
    How do I fix it?
Also I continue to get Error Message "smtp.mail.com" password not accepted.
I DO NOT know my mail.mac.com password.

  • Is it possible to sync numbers between iPad and iPhone and mac

Is it possible to sync Numbers between iPhone and iPad and IMac.  I work in a school and want to keep test scores for my class in the one place without having to manually update the spreadsheets each time I enter scores.
    Thanks in advance
    Conor

Yes, Numbers syncs (very well) via iCloud.  You need to activate Numbers iCloud sync on all of your devices.
On the Mac, go to System Preferences > iCloud and make sure Documents & Data is checked.  Also click the Options... button next to Documents & Data and check Numbers.app.
On each iOS device, go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data > and turn on Numbers. Also go to Settings > Numbers and turn on Use iCloud.
After you've got things working, it's best to close down the Numbers document on one device before you use it on another.

  • Syncing notes between iPad and a MacBook with Lion OSX

I cannot sync notes manually between iPad and MacBook - I could do that with Snow Leopard by creating a subfolder in Notes and keeping my Notes in that subfolder.  This doesn't work with Lion OSx - any ideas out there

I would prefer MobileMe but have not been able to use that to sync notes.  So - I use itunes and check "Sync notes" under Other in the Info tab

  • HT1386 How can I sync between ipad and mac with itunes version 9.2.1?

I need help syncing my new ipad with my old mac - itunes version 9.2.1.

You can't.  You need a much much newer version of iTunes.

  • Files do not sync between iPad and Mac using iCloud

I have Pages and Numbers installed on by my iMac and my iPad.  I have iCloud set up on each as well.
When I create new documents on my iPad, they do not appear on my iMac.  Similarly, when I create new documents on the iMac and save to iCloud, they do not appear on the iPad.
I have tried turning document syncing on and off on the iMac.  I have also tried turning syncing off and back on for each individual app on the iPad.  I checked some of the other discussions on this topic.  I have checked all my account settings, and I don't see any references to "Mobile Me" anywhere, so I'm not sure that's causing any issues, as I've read may be the case with some other users.
I noticed something that I thought was strange.  When I have sync turned on everywhere and I modify a document or create a new document on the iMac, after opening the corresponding program on the iPad, the "Use iCloud" option under that app is set to "Off" in the iPad Settings.  This even happens when no modifications have been made to any documents.  If I set all "Use iCloud" options to "On" and then quit all running programs on the iPad, if I relaunch either Pages or Numbers, that app's "Use iCloud" option is reset to "Off" when I go back into settings on the iPad.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I was just looking at this again and noticed something strange.
Under the iCloud section of the Settings on my iPad, I don't have a "Documents and Data" option.  Essentially, every time I use a program that wants to access iCloud for documents, that program's individual settings are reset to not use iCloud.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks again for any help.

  • Unsure how to sync ibooks between ipad and iphone

A few months ago I downloaded an extensive collection of work documents, in pdf format. They've been saved in ibooks on my iphone. After having synced my phone to my itunes, I currently see that I have those documents in Itunes. However, not knowing how to sync between iphone and ipad, I had uploaded those documents manually to my ipad via email. Now I have some mismatching documents in ibooks. I am wondering how to rectify this. I wonder if I could erase my ipad, and restart it as a new ipad, then sync it with my itunes on my computer, in order to upload the appropriate documents into ibooks. Thoughts?? Thank you!

Welcome to the Apple Community Ryan.
PDF's don't sync between devices in iBooks, if you want to do that use something like Adobe reader.

  • Why not sync notes between iPad and iPod?

My iPod andipad don't sync notes between rhem

To use iCloud to sync Notes you have to activate the free iCloud email address on www.icloud.com and use that account to keep Notes in sync between devices. Through iTunes on the computer the sync settings need to be set to sync with Mail on the Mac or Outlook on the PC.
I would hope this will change in iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion since Note and Reminders are getting there own apps and should have to be tied to other mail and calendar apps.

  • OS X Yosemite Pages sync problem between iPad and Macbook

I have updated my Macbook on OS X Yosemite. After update I getting problem in sync between iPad pages and iCloud.
Pages do not get sync automatically, temporary solution. I have to make sure that Macbook Pages connected to internet. After that I need to open my files on pages and have to do some fake changes like do some space. Pages again upload files from iPad and than I got updated files on my macbook.
iPad pages upload files correctly, I can confirm this because I do login in iCloud through web browser than I get files updated.
So this is the problem from macbook side (i.e. OS X Yosemite) not picking synced files from iCloud.

  • AirDrop Between iPad and MAC

I have AirDrop working great between my 2 MAC's now that I have them in close proximity - thanks to some great help here.
According to posts that I've read here, AirDrop should work fine between a MAC and an iPad 4 running IOS 7.  I must be doing something wrong.
On my MAC, I open Finder and click on AirDrop in the left menu. This opens the normal window on the right that shows an icon for the MAC and the icon to the left of The menu AirDrop is revolving. I guess this indicates that the MAC is searching for another AirDrop device.
On my iPad, I open a photo. In the bottom left corner, I tap on the Share icon. The normal Share icons come up along with one for AirDrop.
Neither the MAC nor the iPad can be recognized by the other device.
Is there something else I need to set on or off on my iPad to get this to work?
    Thanks a lot.
    Adrian

Note: AirDrop for iOS supports only iOS 7 devices. You cannot use AirDrop on iOS to share with OS X, and OS X users can't use AirDrop to share with iOS devices.
    Yes, I was surprised too!
