Syncing email onto new macbook pro

For the past 3 years I was using the microsoft outlook app for my dell vostro laptop. I recently purchased a new macbook pro and would like to sync my email to my new macbook. I am having difficulty with the account type (IMAP or POP) and the MAIL SERVER section...  How do i find out that information?? Please help as i am currently using 2 laptops (the PC laptop exclusively for emails only). PLEASE HELP. THANKS!!

You copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transfering old emails onto new Macbook Pro ?

On my old white macbook there are lots of old emails that I wish to keep for various reasons. How can i transfer these onto my new Macbook Pro so they sit in the email page (running in classic mode) above the new mail ? ie all the old is in email, new messages at the bottom, older above.
    Hope this makes sense ?
    Cheers
    Brian.

I am using the normal Apple -mail on both laptops.
    Cheers

You'll have to transfer them from the pc to the mac.

  • I have Yahoo Mail synced on my new macbook pro. Keeps asking for password

I have Yahoo Mail synced on my new macbook pro. It it consistently asking to re-enter the password. Does anyone else have this problem? I have deleted it and reinstalled it several times. It did not do this on my previous macbook.

Does anyone else have this problem?
There are several similar reports on this site every day.
I've never used Yahoo mail and my knowledge of it is second-hand. This is what I've been able to gather.
If you have a free Yahoo account, POP access to incoming mail from a mail client such as Apple Mail is not supported. A free account is accessible only through IMAP (and then perhaps only on mobile devices — the documentation is unclear) or the web interface.
As for a paid Yahoo account, or an account through an ISP such as AT&T, you must enable POP access through the web interface. I've seen reports that you must periodically (every two weeks?) log in to the "Manage Account" page on the website to confirm your identity.
I've also seen reports that eliminating all UPPER CASE letters from the password, and shortening it to no more than 7 characters, may help. That's barely, if at all, adequate for security, and you must be sure to choose the password randomly. It should not be easy to type or remember.
That said, so many problems with Yahoo mail are reported that I can't recommend using Mail as a client for it. You might get better results with another mail client, such as Thunderbird. If not, just use the webmail interface. That's how it was designed to work. Better yet, don't use Yahoo at all.

  • Why won't my apple tv sync with my new macbook pro, they are both on the same wifi signal

why won't my apple tv sync with my new macbook pro, they are both on the same wifi signal.

Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV
If you have a further question you will need to be specific.

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Getting AppStore Apps & iTunes Library from old (broken) MacBook Pro onto new MacBook Pro?

Hi, I just bought a new MacBook Pro, and my old MBP is broken (water was spilled on it)...How can I get all the apps that I purchased on my old laptop onto my new laptop? Can I download them from the App Store? Many were not synced with a mobile device...I would appreciate any help!

If you did an iCloud backup, it is possible for you to transfer your purchases.
If not, it depends on how damaged the Computer is.  How bad is the water damage>?

  • Loading CS5 Master Collection onto new Macbook Pro with no DVD drive

I have a complete, legitimate, registered version of CS5 Master Collection. I also have a new Macbook Pro with no DVD drive. I have lost the disk, but have the box and confirmation email when I registered the product, with the key code. This product cost alot of money and I really need to get it onto my new machine. Can I do this without having the additional cost of a new DVD drive? I already paid for and own the software with keys so it's not like I'm trying to bend anything or do it for free. Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

Download the CS5 Master Collection trial version from
    http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
You must follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links will not work.
Launch the trial and enter your serial number to license it.

  • Putting music onto new MacBook Pro

I had to get a new MacBook Pro because my last one got stolen, and I am trying to put my music from my iPhone onto it but can't figure out how. The purchased ones go into iTunes fine, but no other music. Can anyone help?

    Hey,
I'm having the same problem. Kind of.
I've got either 4th/5th gen ipod. I had the software up-to-date. Now, iTunes 7.0 won't recognize my ipod, and funny enough, the OS won't either (it's as if it does not exist). So, I tried re-installing my old ipod software, and I got the same error message. So, at the moment, I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place. My 20 gig ipod isn't being recognized, and I can't reinstall my old software, nor it seems iTunes 6.0, which worked just fine thank you very much!!
Any help so that I can sync my iPod with my iTunes, as well as be able to view it on the desktop would be appreciated (for the record, when I plug it in, it does pop up the symbol not to disconnect, so the computer is "kind-of" recognizing it.

  • Can't get ibooks onto new macbook pro

    Hi
I got myself a new macbook pro set it up and all great ibooks came up right away but my sister in law got the same macbook pro as i but i cannot get ibooks onto it, i have been to the app store but its not there i really cannot remember howi got mine onto my macbook, i think its when i set my macbook pro it asks you questions and then to setup your apple id in the set up process, well we had difficulty in trying to sign her in as it would not accept the password, even tho i have gone into iTunes and signed her in ok but not in set up, so we skipped that, so now we cannot put her iPad onto the iTunes on macbook either, is that why we cannot load the ibooks app onto the macbook because we cannot get her iPad hooked to iTunes,?
gosh hope you can understand me again lol
I have just asked a question about the set up so sorry i am repeating my self but this one was about the ibooks.
    Hope you can help.
    many thanks
    Tracey xx

    Hello Traceykate,
iBooks for Mac is part of the OS X Mavericks. Check to see what version of OS X you and your sister are running. If you one of them is not updated, then go to the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks and you should be able to have iBooks. Check out the articles below for more information about iBooks for Mac, how to check what version of OS X you are running and a link to download Mavericks.

  • How do I move my sync to my new MacBook Pro

I have a G4 Quicksilver running OS X 10.4.11.   The iTunes on that Mac is upgraded as far as it can go and did not support iOS 4.2.1.  When I got my new MacBook Pro and plugged in my iPod Touch, the iOS got upgraded to 4.3 and now I can no longer sync on my Quicksliver.  But it looks like I cannot sync to the MacBook Pro without losing everything that already on my Touch.
    Am I missing something somewhere?
    Thanks,
    britchie9147

ipod touch will sync with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Copy everything from the old computer to the new one, then sync whatever you like to the ipod.

  • Putting Songs From iPod onto New Macbook Pro

I am trying to put the approximately 75 gb of music that is on my ipod onto my new Macbook Pro. My Powerbook died unexpectedly and took all my music with it. So now all I have is my little external hd, aka ipod. I've looked online for help with confusing and unsuccessful suggestions for taking music from an ipod and putting it onto a computer. Any help?
    Thanks.

  • Cloning Leopard iBook G4 onto new MAcBook Pro

Is there some way to transfer everything on a Leopard iBook onto a new MacBook Pro in one quick operation? I heard about a feature which does this through a firewire connection but didn't catch the nomenclature, so my searches have been fruitless so far. Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Hi! You can use the migration assistant.
Using Migration Assistant to transfer files
If you need to transfer all your files and important settings from an older Mac to a new one, and both computers are using Mac OS X, you can use Migration Assistant.
Before using Migration Assistant, make sure that both computers have Mac OS X installed and that you have a FireWire cable to connect the two computers.
To transfer files using Migration Assistant:
From the Finder on your new computer, open Migration Assistant, located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder.
Follow the onscreen instructions to connect a FireWire cable and choose the files you want to transfer.
Applications sometimes fail to work properly using the migration assistant and have to be re-installed.
