Syncing emails between devices

i would like to have my emails synced between devices. if i delete on my imac, they should delete on my iphone and ipad. isn't this what syncing is supposed to do?

No.
This is what IMAP does.  You need to use an IMAP account (versus POP) and then mail is stored on the mail server and you will get the same mail in the same state on all devices.
Who are you using for Mail?  Not every service provides an IMAP account.  But iCloud mail is IMAP, and is available for free from Apple.

You have to set up the email account using IMAP instead of POP.
What type of email address is it? Yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc?

  • IBooks bookmarks syncing incorrectly between devices

I have a book I am reading on iBooks on my MacBook Pro with Mavericks, my iPhone 5s with iOS 7, and my iPod touch 4g, which has iOS 6. I have each device set up to sync bookmarks and collections between devices, but the bookmarks keep syncing incorrectly. For example: I am reading on my iPhone, and I drop a bookmark 2 pages away from the end of chapter 40. If I open the book on my iPod touch it does not show the current bookmark, but an old one from earlier in the chapter. Another example: I am reading on my iPod touch, and I drop a bookmark two pages away from the end of chapter 40. This time, I open the book on my iPhone, and it has placed a new bookmark at chapter 39! I open the book on my MacBook Pro after that, and a bookmark has been placed at the beginning go chapter 40!
So, there you have it. I place a bookmark on one device, and the other two devices place bookmarks in completely different places on the book.
All of my devices have the same Apple ID, and both of the mobile devices are synced with iTunes.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks.

The only info that syncs via iCloud for iBooks is collection lists (not the books themselves), Bookmarks, and Notes.
The Books themselves can be automatically downloaded if they are coming from the store.  On the iPhone, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Turn on Automatic Downloads for Books.  Same thing can be done on the Mac in preferences.
Since your Books are not from the store, the only way to get them on both devices is to download them to both devices.  This will never occur automatically.  This also goes for PDFs you add to your iBooks
Hope that helps solve the mystery.

If you buy a book on your Mac, it’s automatically available on all of your iOS devices with iOS 6 or later.
You can even synchronize your bookmarks, notes, and collections across your devices.

  • Syncing email across devices

The directions given for syncing email across devices is not working for me.  I followed them precisely.  HELP!!! This is very frustrating.

We need better information.  What devices are you using?   Are you setting the account up using IMAP?

  • Problem syncing email between Iphones/ipad

We recently added a (shared) comcast email address in hopes of replacing our AOL email account.  Now we have a few problems:1. How do we sync COMCAST email between our desktop, two iphones (4S and 5) and ipad so that deleting/reading/moving from one phone impacts everything?  Per Apple we now have to delete all emails from Xf by logging in (so via our home computer), but deleting/reading from the phones has no effect on the other phone/ipad. I tried the url in "inflightgolf"s question & it's inactive.2. We can't send COMCAST emails from the ipad.3. Also our shared calendar events (phones, ipad) sync more slowly (sometimes not at all) than they did before we added the COMCAST email account, tho can't see how that would be impacted.

Thanks for trying, but I didn't really understand the terminology in your explanation. Tried calling COMCAST Tech Support but they didn't seem to understand the problem + their phone lines were full of static.  We went back to the Apple Store and:1. The Apple tech was looked at our iPAD & caught a typo I'd made when entering our new email address - so now we can send emails from the ipad. 2. He also explained that unlike AOL, because of the way COMCAST/Xfinity's server works, we'll have to delete anything from our Comcast email account individually on each device (something about IMAP vs POP).  I'm simplifying things by not reading email on my phone anymore, and just deleting everything from my phone every few days.  At least I could now confirm to a friend with Comcast email that she can delete all the emails from her phone without worrying that she might inadvertently lose something she wanted on her computer.  Wish we'd never shifted to Comcast email, of course, but it's a bit late now.3. Whatever the problem with the calendar was, no clue, but we're just being careful about scheduling things & I'm sure it'll work out. Again, thanks for trying.

  • How do i sync emails between iPad and Macbook Pro

I have the iiPad2 with WiFi. I remember that I used iSync in the past between my Macbook and desktop unit. I also am signed up with me.com. Can anybody please advise me what's the best way to sync my emails? I use Apple's mail program. Thanks.

iSync has never synced email or anything between Macs.
To sync email you need to set your account up as IMAP (not POP3) on your iPad and Mac.
If you are using your MobileMe email address and have configured your MobileMe account on both Mac and iPad, then your email is automatically in sync.

  • Syncing apps between devices

I'm having difficulty syncing some apps between devices so that data is saved. I recently purchased an iPad mini for my daughter and want her to have some of her existing game apps to play, and then delete from my iPad. Anyone encountered the same, or any solutions?

I'm having the same problem with apps not syncing between my iPhone 5s and iPad Air. I made sure under settings > iTunes & Apps Store that automatic Download is on and selected for Music, Apps, Books, and Updates. Have you gotten a resolution to that issue?

  • Syncing reminders between devices

I use the Reminders app on my ipad - creating lists in the Exchange area - therefore seeing uncompleted tasks on Outlook when I log in, which is great.
My query is, if I was to purchase an ipod touch, and set up using the same apple ID, would all my reminder lists sync between the 2 devices or is this where iCloud comes into play?  I notice I can create lists in the Reminders app under the iCloud option - but I like the fact I get a prompt in Outlook - hence why I create them under the Exchange area.
    Hope this makes sense!
    Many thanks

ps, just tried this from another thread:
I was having this problem. I changed the syncing range on the phone (under Settings > Reminders) to sync "All Reminders". I then logged into iCloud and opened the Reminders tab. This actually caused the reminders on the phone to match the ones in iCloud.  I then made changes on my phone while that tab was still opened and the changes started to appear in iCould (sometimes takes a few seconds - up to 20 or 30) and synched on my iPad as well. After that, all of my changes started to sync across all devices - iPhone, iPad,Mac and in iCloud, regardless of where I made the initial change.
This works to some degree but just deleted all the reminders from my iPhone that hadn't been synced to the iCloud. Hmmmmm... Not a fix I'd recommend but I guess it works

  • HT5372 Does icloud sync bookmarks between devices?

    Hi there,
Previously, when I synced my iphone to my macbook pro using itunes, the bookmarks in safari including those in the bookmark bar, were synced too. Does icloud sync bookmarks in safari between devices? Thanks.

Thanks. That worked. Unfortunately, I guess the way I did it, it synced in the wrong direction so I've lost all the bookmarks I'd added to safari on my laptop since the last time these synced. :-(  That's one aspect of icloud I find scary and frustrating.

  • Syncing Contacts between devices

I want to sync Contacts between an iMac (OSX 10.6.8), an iPad (ios 5), an iPad2 (ios 6), and an iPhone 4s (ios 6).  I'd like to combine all of them without creating duplicates, if possible.  After the initial combination, I'd like to be able to make entries on any of the devices and re-sync the others using the iMac as the master.  Any suggestions? Also, if there's a better forum to post this question, please let me know.

  • Firefox sync not syncing data between device

Although Firefox sync syncing, data does not advice.

It worked!! Thank you so much! Now, may I ask what happened? I feel like if this sort of thing happens again in the future I will have a better understanding of exactly what '''services.sync.clusterURL''' is and why resetting it resolves syncing issues. FYI I deleted some empty folders that were created when this whole issue started and forced an immediate sync and the problem device was no longer a problem. I performed this action on my laptop i.e. the problem device and on my desktop PC so I could thoroughly test the two-way communication and after syncing on either device the changes were reflected on the other.

  • HT5225 Syncing data between devices vs. sharing data and drop box files.

As you most likely kwow, I've been told that only Lion will allow one to use the cloud to share music, contacts, photos, and etc. between one's phone, iPad, and computer. Let's say I have 4000 photos on my desktop; and I don't wish to see all them on my other devices. Can I choose only the ones I need by connecting the iphone to the pc or iPad by using iTunes- or should I drag and drop all contacts, etc. that I wish to put in icloud - or should I use my drop box for all or some files? For instance, none of my iPhone phone number contacts came with there existing email addresses. I should say that I have many contacts and songs on an older version - leopard that is not compatible with iCloud. What would do?
    Steve

Having played around more with PadSync, I find that I can drag files into PadSync (which then sync to the iPad), but when a revised version is synced back to PadSync, I can double click the icon to open the file in the mac's native application, but I can't drag the file out to a destination folder or use any other means of getting it out of PadSync.
    Am I missing something?
---- ah, I found the way. I was looking at the files in PadSync using icon view. When I switched to list view, I can then drag files out of PadSync. Funny, I can't drag files out using icon view.

  • Syncing emails between desktop/laptop/iPhone/iPad

I have a Mac desktop, laptop, iPad and iPhone.  I have a gmail email and a mediacom email address.  The two emails don't sync between any of the devices, so I have to delete a boat load of emails (mostly junk) off of 4 different devices.  Any advice on how I can streamline this process?  Is it even possible with the email accounts I use?  Or should I be using a different email provider?  If so, which one can you recommend?

    Hello,
You should set up the email using IMAP rather than POP3.  Email will be synced in all respects using this protocol.
