Syncing Files Fails

I'm trying to sync files with my computer and a couple others, a total of 3 different creative cloud accounts. But the syncing fails constantly.

Turning off offline folders and doing it manually with Richcopy or Rsync bypasses this issue.

  • Getting "file failed to write" error while syncing.

I am syncing IPADs and IPODs (big family) over USB to a windows based machine.  During large syncs it often fails with a message like "file failed to write."  It is random as to which file fails.  In fact if I keep trying it eventually syncs everything.  It's like each file has some chance of failure and I just need to try enough times.  It takes forever.  Please help!
    Some details
    - I have updated with latest iTunes
    - I have tried different USB cables and USB slots on the computer
    Thanks.

Check out this Apple article -> 'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod
If you have a USB hub, try removing it and connecting the iPad or iPod to the back of the computer. If it isn't caused by the USB connection, the article suggestions will be a good place to start.

  • When attempting a sync with my iPod Touch gen 5 I get this error "The iPod "****" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."  I could not find the backup file to delete per researched support recommendation.  I have synced this iPod.

"....could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."  I have synced this iPod with this MacBook Air about 6 weeks ago.  Now it won't sync.  A possible solution is to delete the backup file located in Mac:~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/  However, I don't have a "MobileSync" folder in my Application Support folder.  Please help.

  • Cannot sync. Error message says "sync session failed to start"

I am not able to sync my ipod. The error message "the ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start" keeps popping up. I have tried both syncing it plugged in and by wifi and the same message appears

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.

  • IPad won't sync.  Getting message "The iPad "Jennifer iPad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."

Getting message "The iPad “Jennifer iPad” could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."  Or it looks like its going to sync but then I see it flash, "Cancelling Sync."  The only thing I can think I have done differently is I purchased a video from iTunes on my iMac.  Want to transfer it to the iPad.
    Thanks... this is so frustrating!!!

Not sure if this will help but I would try disconnecting your iPad then restarting your computer. Also reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appear. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem. After both have started back up reconnect your iPad and try to sync again.
Im presumming here that you had been able to sync your ipad before you purchased the new video. If it fails to sync after the restart I would deselect the new video you purchased and try syncing. It just could be there is something wrong with that video file.

  • "The ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start"  What does this mean?

When syncing on iTunes, the syncing meter runs in iTunes in my computer but nothing appears in my device (It should have Sync In Progress).  Whenever I edit my music files (editing title, album and artwork), it edits in iTunes but when I eject my device, nothing's changed.  My device is a 3rd Gen iTouch and this is my second 3rd gen iTouch unit.  I lost my first unit and am familiar with how it operates so I do not understand what is causing this.  The 4 view option buttons "show items in a song list... etc" (beside the search field, upper right corner) won't work. Now in my 3rd attempt to sync, as i right click on my ipod name in iTunes to select sync, this appears ,"The ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start" and my only option is to click OK.  Please help.  My apps are kinda slow too and theres a slight delay opening files and apps in my iTouch.

  • What to do if Iphone sync seesion fails to start

I'm trying to sync my iphone 4 on itunes, but everytime that I try to sync it, it gives me an error message.
"The Iphone "____" cannot be synced because the sync session failed to start."
I have my information synced on my Icloud, But when I try to transfer music files and what not, I cannot sync to itunes.
I've tried disabling the Icloud for the meantime, but this does not work either.
I'd really love some music on my Iphone. Please help!

make sure your iPhone is unlocked at the home screen and not in sleep mode. Also disconnect your usb cable and try plugging it into another usb port.

  • ITunes sync is failing to start.

iTunes sync is failing to start. Everything is updated, my device is recognized, it just won't start. I got it to work earlier, but some of my music still wouldn't copy over. Now it won't start. Any ideas?

I'll post the same thing I posted in another thread; it might help you. Reinstall itunes again according to my post. Some of the information is irrelevant to your problem, but hey, i'm kinda feeling lazy and don't want to edit it. You'll get the idea. Here it is.....
"this is just a suggestion. If you reinstall itunes again, make sure you follow the directions in the support section of this site for uninstalling itunes and quicktime. Another thing they don't say in that article that I did when i had to uninstall itunes was to do a search. You know, pressing the start button and then "Search". Make sure when you do, click the search "All files and folders". Then set it to look in "Local Hard Drives (C:)" or "My Computer"; i'm not sure which search will pop up your itunes files. Try them both. And then type in the "all or part of the file name" box, itunes. After the search is done you should have a bunch of different itunes components in the results. Btw do the same for quicktime as a search. Make sure to DELETE every itunes and quicktime file there. If some of your music files happened to come up in the search, use commone sense. Get rid of every component so itunes and quicktime is completely erased from the system. Make sure that you do this after you've already restarted your computer once (according, to the uninstallation article). Then just empty your recycle bin, reboot your computer, and finally reinstall itunes. Good luck and ask me anything if you have some questions!!"
Let me know if it works or not. Again, good luck!
Remember, this is just a suggestion, it's up to you if you want to do it or not.

  • Sync messages failed due to high load

    Hi!
On our test system we had a very high load of async messages for 3 - 4 hours. The async messages were processed successfully but all sync messages failed during this time frame! As soon as the high load of async messages stopped, the sync messages started executing successfully again.
Has anybody also experienced this kind of problem and what can be done to avoid this issue? Thanks for any input and suggestions.
    Regards, Tanja

    hey Tanja,
i had a similar issue when testing the box with Load runner, that a simple sync scenario fails when the size of payload or attachment is high, the thing that i did is just increased the virtual memory ,
You can also check the trace files to figure out problem ?
This might not be a definitive answer , hope this helps,
    Vara

  • TS4062 I am getting error msg when trying to sync-iPhone could not sync because the sync session failed

I am trying to sync my iPhone and receiving the following message:  iPhone could not sync because the sync session failed
I have tried walking through the set ups again, and cannot figure this out.  Any help out there?  Thank you.

I seemed to have figured it out...... I hard reset my Iphone and rebooted my computer and it seemed to work. It also seemed there was a music file that was not being recognized, I just erased it and everything worked fine after that.... very strange but I am so glad I figured it out.....

  • Photoshop CC Sync Settings failed

When I try and sync my application settings, I always get an error message saying 'sync settings failed - can't connect to creative cloud'. However, I am signed in to the creative cloud application manager (sitting in my task bar, saying I am signed in) and there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. Why can't my photoshop sync my settings?

Having the exact same issue, for months now (originally, I had (almost) no problem syncing settings.)
I'm on a 2010-2011 27" iMac running OS X Mavericks, never had a single software/network issue with this machine since the day I bought it.  I typically run 2 to 4 Adobe apps simultaneously, in addition to Chrome, Spotify, Mail, and a couple of other apps/utilities sporadically with no performance delays (aside from memory cache needing to be cleared occasionally).
I'm connected to Creative Cloud via the app and signed-in via browser.  In the CC app I can see that all my apps are up to date, I can access my files, I can see the synced fonts, etc (however I cannot connect to Behance).
    Error messages I encounter:
Photoshop CC: Sync settings failed. Cannot connect to Creative Cloud.
Dreamweaver CC: Sync settings failed. Last Sync: 1/24/14 10:20 AM (not sure how that even connected or why during that time on that day.)
Illustrator CC: Cannot even click the Sync button, it's greyed out.  If I click the Share on Behance button I get a pop-up that says, "Sorry, there was an error with your request. Please close this window and try again. Still Having Trouble? Contact Behance Help and reference error: Error fetching access token." If I go to that Behance Help page, there is no help on this topic, nor is there a search or anything to input this "Error fetching access token" reference error.
Indesign CC: Does not allow me to click the Sync button, I get a "bad-circle" like Ø icon.
TypeKit: Not an error message, but this feature is so unbelievably unreliable and inconsistent I dare even call it a "feature."  Newly added fonts don't show up for days.  Always need to restart Apps before they will show up.  Sometimes fonts will just disappear.  I love the IDEA of this but I'm so disappointed in the execution...are we PAYING to be beta testers?!
Not being able to sync my settings in the CC isn't the end of the world, but I still want to be able to do it, and I spend what? $50 a month on this, and this is like a CORE feature of the product.
I would sincerely appreciate any help at all fixing this CC syncing issue, I have no idea what to do next.

  • ITunes could not sync contacts or iCal to the iPhone sync server failed

*+iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone "Username" because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone+*
I have read most of the post on this subject and have tried most of the solutions as they applied to me however resulting in same error message as above.
    I have performed the following:
    1. Reset iSync History
    2. Installed the latest version of iTunes 7.5.2
    3. Installed the latest version of iPhone software 1.1.2
    4. Removed folders and files from the Library.
What I haven't done and only will do as a last resort.
    1. Reinstall Tiger
    2. Purchased and Installed Leopard
    3. Restore iPhone settings
Does anyone have a viable solution? Thanks in advance!

I called Apple Tech Support and spoke with a Product Specialist. He helped me resolved the issue.

  • My i-phone 5c, could not sync because the sync session failed to start. Please advise what to do next.

    Dear all,
Please help, I am trying to sync all my songs into my new i-phone 5c, but this message keep appearing; " i-phone could not sync because the sync session failed to start.
    Many thanks,
    Joe

    Try to reset sync history.
If you have a Windows machine, press the ALT key to bring up file, edit, view, etc. Click edit and go to preferences. Click the tab titled "devices" and then at the bottom it will say "reset sync history."
If you have a Mac it's a bit more complicated. You can find the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1627?locale=en_GB&viewlocale=en_GB
If this is your first time syncing then try a different USB port.
Make sure there are no third party software conflicting your connection. (Anti-virus software, etc)
Make sure your lightning USB cable is in working condition.
    Restart your computer.

  • FIX: calendar probs "sync server failed to sync the iphone"

    Hi all,
Out of nowhere my 3GS with OS4 stopped syncing via iTunes. (I use USB and PC with XP). Error message included "sync server failed to sync the iphone"
    One to try.......
    Go to My Computer
    C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs
There are file with names like
    asl.987429_25Aug10 (for example)
I opened a file with the date when the problem occurred.
Scroll down and look for a line like this.
USB mux port 32498 for device 9: No such device or address
[5968 @ Thu Aug 26 14:06:51 2010] [(unknown facility) iTunes.exe] MobileDeviceConnectlocked (thread 592): Could not connect to lockdown port on device 3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165.
Take note of this number 3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165 (or just the last few digits). Then..........
    Go to My Computer
    C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Apple Computer\SyncServices\Local\Copy clientdata\
I had 3 folders, all with long alphanumeric names, lets call them A, B and C. Open each of them in turn; they will have a the text document "clientname". You should fine something like this:
"com.apple.MobileSync.3e59d5e8fc22f5cad8a409af80aedd59396ee165" where the alphanumeric is the same as the error message. For me this was in folder A.
Now, go back to the \clientdata folder and copy the Folder (folder A - with the correct "clientname" file in it) to your desktop (so you can restore if it doesn't work)
then delete that folder (folder A) from the \clientdata folder.
Close all and reattempt to sync whilst turning around 3 time anti clockwise with your hands on your head.
Worked for me - no loss of data.
    Good luck!!!!
    Cheers
    Ken H

This just worked for me, thank you! It's a little confusing at one point -- the folder you're looking for is called clientdata (you have it as "Copy clientdata" at one point), and the folder may have other items in it, which will also have long names, but you need to ignore those items and open the file called clientname -- INSIDE THAT FILE in one of the folders, you'll find the long name you're looking for. THAT'S the folder you want to remove.

  • Sync tests failed

I recently got a new computer. I transfered my music over from my old computer. But now my iPod mini will not sync and when I run the diagnostic the sync test fails. It is doing other weird stuff too like showing that my iPod has a capacity of 900 GB. How can I fix this?

I too am having this type of problem, I'm hoping for some real help here:
It has all stemmed from a recent occurrence of this error I get when trying to sync anything (Movies,Podcasts, etc):
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6025
    -pure virtual function call
I did some research and did a iTunes diagnostic and it says that there is a problem syncing one or more things with the my iPod and im hoping their is a matching solution. Anyone know what I should do? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes from scratch, using a registry cleaner, and an Adaware scan, all including individual restarts and such to no avail. I need a real genius to help me or an actual Apple representative!
