Syncing following restore error with music

I have had to restore my iPhone and have been trying to re-sync my music and applications back but have been receiving an error message saying that I do not have permission to use some files, even though these are ones purchased from iTunes.
Even those files which will copy over remain greyed out on the phone menu in iTunes and the phone itself says it has no music content.
Any ideas?

One thing that might help out.
When you did the sync, did itunes show at the top a status bar of syncing the music files over?
If not, right click, or control click, on the name of the iphone on the left of itunes and choose reset warnings.
Now try syncing the music again.
If you have synced it to the iphone and the iphone shows no content, you might need to reset or restore the iphone.

I'm trying to sync my iPhone 5 with music from my iTunes library and when i click "sync selected playlists" it tells me i have 501 songs when i know those playlists only contain 120 max! When i untick the playlists the number of songs doesn't change. Nor does it change when i re click the playlists i want! Surely if i do not tick any playlists i'm choosing not to sync any songs? My 16GB phone keeps telling me my interal storage is full. I seem to constantly be backing up and then deleting photos to make room. I have 5.02 GB take up by "other" can anyone tell me what this is? HT1339 Restoring errors with iPod Classic

My iPod starting having problems after purchasing music from itunes. It was having problems downloading. Then it would freeze and turn off. Now when I try to restore the iPod, I get a message that states there are restoring errors. Any ideas?

I doubt that there is any connection to purchasing music from the iTunes Store, because those are just regular AAC 256 kbps audio files.
What you describe could be caused by the hard drive in the iPod becoming unreliable. It may also be a problem with the connection between the iPod and computer.
Try shutting down the computer and disconnecting all USB devices, including any hubs. Start up with only standard keyboard and mouse connected (if normally used).
Run iTunes and connect iPod to a direct USB port. If necessary, do a Reset on the iPod (while connected)

I have an iPhone 4. I currently sync with only one Windows PC; my work PC, where I keep my apps, calendar, email, etc (my work PC does not have anything BUT apps, calendar, email, notes). I want to add all of my music to the same iPhone, though, and it is stored on my home PC (the home PC does not have anything BUT music on it). Therefore, I want to sync the same phone with one PC for apps, etc., and a different PC for music.

You may be able to do it this way.
On you WORK PC.
Connect your Device to Computer. Select your iPhone under "Devices" on iTunes's left Pane.
On the right pane, under the Summary tab, scroll down to make sure the box "Manually manage music and video" is checked.
Then click the APPLY button on the lower right Window. You are done.
So anytime you connect your iPhone to your WORK PC, your iphone will be synced but without the music from work PC.
On your Home PC, before connecting your device, go to iTunes menu EDIT/PREFERENCES/DEVICES tab and make sure "Prevent iPod, iPhone, iPad from syncing automatically" box is checked, then OK.
Next connect your device, and same way on the right Pane, under the Summary tab, scroll down to make sure the box "Manually manage music and video" is checked.
Then click the APPLY button on the lower right Window.
Now you are in manual mode, to add songs to iPhone, just highlight the songs in your iTunes music library and drag them over to your iphone under "Devices" on the left Pane.

I saw a lot of people through the forum that experienced the exact issue I have and I spent 4 hours trying to resolve it myself with frantic research.
What helped me get my iPhone back:
This morning I received the message to upgrade my iphone 4 to the ios6 upgrade through my home internet. I accepted.
After the download went through my phone directed me to connect to itunes. I complied.
After connecting to itunes it informed me that my phone was in recovery mode and that I must restore my iphone.
Yet again, I complied.
After hitting restore and it going through the restore process, it instructed me of an error and could not complete restore. My computer refused to recognise my phone at all and said that I needed to enter my passcode.
My phone then continued to tell me to connect to itunes before it then went a step further and began restarting and just had the apple logo and/or loading circle for about 4 hours. No matter how long I held the home and power button on it just kept doing the same thing and to be honest, I was about to throw my phone out the window.
I researched different tips on here and other forums for hours and pressing all the reset buttons.
I downloaded itunes on a different computer and followed this tip

This is the proper procedure as per HT1808, Unable to update or restore
Plug the sync cable into your computer, but leave it disconnected from your iPhone
Hole the sleep/wake and home buttons down until the phone powers off completely
Set the phone down on a flat surface and hold the home button down
While holding the home button down, connect the sync cable to your iPhone
Continue holding the home button until you see the Sync to iTunes screen (iTunes logo & USB connector)
If you have iTunes running, you should see the alert box stating the iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode
After many tries my phone then told me to connect to power as the battery was dead. After resetting it also had the same apple logo and loading screen.
Finally, itunes recognised my phone and went back into recovery mode. I restored my iphone with my fingers crossed. It downloaded the new iphone software update as well and before the restore was finished my phone reset once again and displayed an error message. I was infuriated and thought nothing would solve it.
Once again, I repeated the procedure until recovery mode was deteced and restored my iphone again.
This time it proceded a little further than before and successfully restored completely to factory settings and my phone finally switched on like it was a brand new phone.
I then set up my phone and connected it to my laptop and backed it up from there.
It was A LOT of fiddling around and just luck of repeating the same process over and over but this is what solved the issue that seems to be very common at the moment.
Any questions you're welcome to ask. I reassure you, I tried EVERY hold down button reset procedure and every time it failed and my computer absolutely was not registering my phone.

Windows vista, sync and restore errors. I give up.

I have had continuous problems with my 8gb ipod touch, 2nd gen. I just returned one which I had had for 4 months during which it worked, but then I could not get it to restore and now have a new one and have the same problem. When I first got the new one , it would not sync it had a number of errors such as;
- Attempting to copy to the disk 'X' ipod failed. An error occurred while writing to the device.
-The ipod 'X' iod cannot be synced an error occurred while writing to the device.
-Required disk cannot be found.
-Also something about Apple Mobile Device
So I uninstalled itunes and all related programs and then reinstalled them.
I managed to get a few songs on to the ipod but they were distorted and the album art became chequered.
I then tried to restore it and have had more errors such as:
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (6).
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (14).
I have done all the things specified such as:
-Restarting the computer,
-Reinstalling Itunes,
-Using differnt USB ports on the computer,
-Removing the firewall, Zone Alarm,
-Removing everything from itunes.
Is it due to an itunes update possibly around june, that I have started experiencing problems.
Will I be able to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I shall return it and not bother with an ipod again.

It's definitely due to the itunes 9.2 update in June. I get the same itunes restore and sync errors you have on Windows Vista and Windows 7. It only starts restoring and syncing properly on Windows XP. I've tried downgrading to an itunes version that worked for me on Vista before, but Apple have updated the ipod touch firmware so that its not supported anymore by the earlier versions of itunes.
Apple phone support is a waste of time. They want to charge me £25 before they are interested in helping as they say my ipod is out of warranty - but its not the ipod that's broken, its the poorly written ITUNES, so why shouldn't I get free support for itunes even though my IPOD, which is perfectly fine, is out of warranty?!
Truth is, now apple has your money, they don't care...

Sync - "disconnected" error with Torch 9800 & Windows 8

I have a Torch 9800 and Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8. I have installed Desktop Manager three times and it will sync with my BB only once. I have activated .NET 3.5 in Windows, changed USB cables, ensured my BB battery is charged. What should I do to resolve this issue?

Is this happening when syncing organizer data only, or media files also?
What is the full error message you receive?
Are you able to sucessfully connect with the BlackBerry Desktop Software to backup or use any of the other functions?

New iphone & new iTunes wont sync, asks restore phone with no backup option

Hi all.
I have a brand new Toshiba and Windows 7, with a brand new iphone4 (first time I have had one). I downloaded the latest version of itunes this morning, and went to sync and back-up the two, but dramas started! The device is recognised with my number serial number and offers to upload videos, images wtc, but it wont let me sync or the like.
The error message I get is 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone 'iPhone'. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this iphone to its factory settings.
I dont want to restore as I will lose all data, as it wont allow me to perform a backup. I have been through all the recommendations provided on hte internet this morning, but have had no resolution (turn both devises off, restore iPhone), I just dont want to lose my contacts without being able to back up.
Does anyone have any ideas?

HT201210 Hi i get an -1 restore error with the latest Os for iPhone restore

I am tring to restor an 3gs Iphone with the latest OS and all i keep getting is:
the Iphone "Iphone" could not be restored. A unknown error occured (-1).
The Iphine has NOT had Jailbreak so its not that. Any help would be great.

Error -1 indicates a hardware failure. You'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

IPad Syncing / Update / Restore errors...

I was trying to update my iPad to the new iOS4 Software and it starts the search for the update and after a while the Plug > Earth icon appears. I have the newest version of iTunes and this is the second time it has happened. Last time this happened I brought it to the Apple store because every method I tried to restore it didn't work. The guy @ the store just plugged it into his laptop and boom, it was fixed with all my old info on it in about 2 minutes. Any reason why I try to update the software on my iPad it keeps basically bricking my iPad? Again, I have tried every method out there when it comes to restoring the iPad ... Hold both home+Power ...rinse and repeat, no luck. Any ideas?

#9 is loss of USB connectivity, the other two are security software errors. Sounds like you may have third party security software that is not allowing iTunes to connect.

TS1702 I have recently sync'd my iPad with music previously on iTunes now none of the apps will open on my iPad and although I can see the apps on ritunes it's saying there aren't any what should I do?

None of the apps are worked once the music from iTunes was synced to the ipad

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

6630 - Restore error with PC suite

I have made a backup of my 6630 phone and memory card using PC Suite.
When I try a restore to my 6630 a get a message saying that my memory card does not have enough space. But the card has more than 700M free.
Please help.

What is the size of your backup that you took from 6230i and what version of PC Suite did you use to backup ?
If you still have both phones, take a backup from 6230i with PC Suite 6.81.13 so thatyou backup phone memory only and restore that to empty 6233.
Then move memory card to new phone.
Edit:
just checked that:
your 6233 has:
Up to 6 MB free user memory + 64 MB MicroSD card
while your 6230i has:
Up to 32 MB internal memory , up to 512 MB MMC supported
So you may very well have a backup from 6230i that is such size that it does not fit to 6233.Message Edited by manta on 27-Sep-2006

Disk Restore Error with DU (HELP!!)

OK I created an image flawlessly or so I thought. When I went to restore and began the process, after I entered my Admin Password it looks like it will start and then I received the Error Message 'Cannot connect to helper tool' and the restore is aborted.
I have booted to the install DVDs, an external firewire partition and the MAC HD itself same error. The external drive has a boot partition and then the images are on the second partition.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.

The only signed software, available for your phone, is iOS 7.0.3. That's why your attempts to restore are erroring out. If you want to update/restore, make sure you're running iTunes 11.1 or greater & do so through iTunes. iOS 7.0.3 will be installed on your phone.

In Sync (nothing to do with music)

I can scrub through a sequence and see it on the reference monitor. However, when I attempt to watch the entire sequence, it does not appear on the reference monitor except if I stop the sequence and see what actually is in the timeline.
