Hi Rhub4rd,
What that alert means is that your iPhone 5c does not have a newer version of iOS on it to support that back up of your iPhone 4s. To get passed this you would need to update your iPhone 5c to the latest version to then restore from the back up you made with iTunes. razmee209 is right, but if you can't get your old computer, you can use iExplorer to download your music from your phone to your computer. I've used it for other things and it works.

I recently synced my iphone 5s to itunes. It erased my photos and I can not locate them on itunes. They are nowhere to be found. How can I restore them back to my phone?

The pic sync is one way - computer to iPhone.
You should be storing all of your photos on your computer. Jut sync them to your iPhone. -
Sync from iPhone 3G to iTunes - not working, bug?
I am trying to restore my music from my iphone 3G to my new PC and iTunes. But every time i select sync Music, iTunes says it will delete all music on my iPhone and replace with nothing. Anyone got any ideas when this bug will be fixed? Or is it just a wrongly worded function, so NOT sync, but copy, and only in one direction? Very confused why iTunes would lack such basic functions...
Thank you for your reply. I understand that it's not a backup device, but I don't understand why such a simple and helpful feature is so hard to achieve? The only reason I can see is, after reading up on this 'bug', is that you are quite right, they don't want you to use it as a backup device, UNLESS, if you spent all your money with Apple and iTunes, because then you CAN sync from iPhone to iTunes. So much for "All you music in one place (but only music Apple made money from)"... Now I have to buy some third party software to copy it all back. Absolute rubbish again from Apple.

my ipod touch is already synced to my itunes. i want to sync my iphone 4s. when i plug it in it says there is already an ios device synced to this computer, do you want to 1. set up as new phone or 2. restore from the back up of my ipod....what do i do? and will this effecy my ipod??
What itunes is asking is would you like to import the files and settings of your ipod to your iphone? It'll import things like contacts, calendar, mail, apps with app data. If you want your phone set up just like your ipod then use that option. Otherwise pick "set up as a new device" and it'll allow you to keep the two seperate and you will be able to sync them both to your itunes independently of each other.

If you kept an iCloud back up...
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from. -

I read this on another thread then confirmed it when I bought an App on my iPhone then did a sync. At first, it appeared that the App was being copied to the iTunes library, but when I checked under Applications, it was not there.
So I went to the File menu, and selected Transfer Purchases from iPhone. It again showed that it was copying to iTunes, and this time it really did.
Not sure why it's not automatic, but it's a minor extra step.

I get an error message when I sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes on my Windows 7 Samsung laptop. I recently backed up all of my data using Samsung Recovery Solution 5 to an external hard drive so that I could restore my laptop. I put all of my data back on the restored laptop and reinstalled iTunes. After the error message that says that certain items could not be found and the "sync" is finished I go back to my music in iTunes and there are exclamation marks next to many songs. I follow some instructions regarding the Edit - Preferences - Advanced settings and the exclamation marks go away until I try to sync my phone again. Then I get the same error message and the exclamation marks return. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the same thing happens again. I am about to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar but would like to avoid that if possible. Thank you in advance for any help.

I have an iPhone sync'd to my iTunes. My boyfriend has his own iPhone with his iTunes account set up within it. We want to sync his iPhone to my iTunes account on the PC but we want to retain everything from both phones and the iTunes account. Is this possible? Help!

I have had my Iphone 5 for a little while now and today I connected it to Itunes to download a movie to my phone. I thought I had to restore the phone so I restored it back to my iphone 4. I deleted all the new ringtones I just bought and I lost all photos and notes I had on my iphone 5. Is there a way to unsync?? Is there a way to recover what I lost. When you plugged it in, iTunes said 'Oh goody! You got a new phone! Would you like to make it just like your old phone?'...
You explicitly said 'Yes'.
You can't undo that.
No backup of the current state of the new phone was made. It was wiped and the last backup of your old phone was restored to it.
Anything you had on the new phone is gone. -
