Syncing hotmail on ipad
I'm using an ipad air and have tried syncing my hotmail account with the ipad. It seems to work but all my inbox emails are coming into the ipad as NEW (unread). Is there anyway to solve this? This didn't happen when i synced by hotmail to my iphone. T

I have had ipad and iphone for a while and my mail, contacts and calendar are all synced up so that when I add or delete an item on one device it mirrors that on the other. Have recently purchased a macbook air but cannot get my hotmail to sync up - so I have to manage that separately from the ipad. Help!

Ok, so first try these steps on your iOS device:
Go to settings, scroll down and tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars". Then, once you are there, click on "Add Account". Since you are using hotmail, tap other. You will then tap "Add Mail Account". Fill in the required fields and tap next. Make sure contacts is selected; if you want your hotmail e-mail address to sync to your inbox, then make sure e-mail is selected too. Once you tap add, all of your hotmail contacts in the contacts app should have their own home. If this doesn't work, then I might have a link to help you. -

You have to set up the email account using IMAP instead of POP.
What type of email address is it? Yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc?

My contacts sync on my iPad, since the iPad uses ActiveSync. If it isn't natively possible to sync them on my Mac, would there by any way to sync them through iCloud from my iPad to my MBP?

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

I downloaded the entire Beatles collection from iTunes in 2011. Some songs skip and won't play. Some albums won't sync to the phone but they sync to my iPad. I've deleted the entire music library from my iPhone, shut the phone down, turned the phone on and synced again to add the music but now 2 albums won't even sync (Rubber Soul and Revolver). I've tried dragging the songs to the iPhone, no luck. Any thoughts?
Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc. -

I have purchased many songs on Itunes and then I sync to my Ipad. Then it tells me so many songs cannot be synced. Why? I also attach my connection and it is now saying this iphone is not connected when it is an Ipad connected to my MacBook Air. I also think that when you have an account with Apple they should honour your email to all your music and not just your laptop as I now have to use my old laptop which is about to die so what happens then.
What is the exact wording of the error message?
Were all songs purchased by the same iTunes account?

how do i find which Apple ID is associated with music in my iTunes? When I sync with my iPad and iPhone it tells me I have music, apps etc from more than five IDs. I am asked for PW for a number of now extinct accounts.
Go to Settings/icloud. The Apple ID at the top of the screen is the only one you need to be concerned about. That one MUST be a working ID, and you must know the password for it, or you will be unable to use the phone if it ever crashes, you want to update it, or you want to sell it.

Simply select only the apps that you want to sync to your iPad and then sync. You can control what syncs to the iPad. You may be best served by turning off auto sync.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK.
Connect your iPad to the computer.
Launch iTunes
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the Devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right.
Click on only the apps that you want to sync in the list of apps under the Sync Apps heading.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Click on Apply in the lower corner of iTunes. -

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

I am working in a school. Last year we had one ipad cart which holds 30 ipads and one macbook for syncing. This year we bought another cart of 30 ipads, but not an extra macbook. Can I sync all 60 ipads to the one macbook computer?
In theory everything that you are saying sounds right to me.
I am not sure at all what the limitations are when using the iPad in education as far as how many iPads can sync to one iTunes account. I am going to take a stab in the dark here and guess that you can sync up to 49 iPads with one Mac and one iTunes account since the device that I found has 49 ports. How's that for an obvious guess?
But seriously, I don't how Apple treats volume licensing with a single iTunes account in education. You were using 30 iPads this past school year so we know that's not a problem. The device that I found has 49 ports so we assume that 49 iPads are OK as well. You would have to check with Apple as to what the limitations/rules arefor using a single iTunes account.
There has to be a way to sync as many iPads as you have students in those classes or the iPad in education would not be a viable option. What I don't know about is how you go about paying for that volume license or how it is implemented.
For personal use, you can use up to 10 devices with a single Apple ID/iTunes account. No more than 5 of those devices can be computers. -
How do I sync both an iPad and iPhone 4 to the same iMac?
I am combining the functions of a PC desktop and PC Laptop onto a new iMac. I do have VMware's Fusion to run Windows 7 Home Premium, but I'd really like to sync both my iPad (first generation) and iPhone 4 to the Mac and move away from the Windows platform. I used to sync each device to a separate PC. How can I sync both devices to the iMac? In addition, with iCloud, can I determine which apps are synced to each device since some apps are designed for the iPhone and don't have corresponding iPad versions (with full screen size). There are apps for the iPad only that shouldn't be synced to the iPhone. I'd appreciate any advice from folks who sync two portable devices to one Mac system.
Just plug the two devices into the Mac, as if the other one didn't exist. iTunes will keep them separate and allow you control sync of apps and media content as you wish.
As to iCloud, for the iTunes in the Cloud feature, if you use the same iTunes Store account on both the iPad and the iPhone, you'll want to turn off the automatic download option in the Settings -> Store preference pane on your devices. Then you can sync, download and update as you wish on each device.
