Syncing Ibooks purchased in my Ipad...

Hi,
I have both an IPad & an IPod touch which I got just a little before Christmas. So it is the newer model.
I have purchase some books from my IPad and I want to know if I can sync them into my IPod touch without paying for them again.
If it can be done I would like to know how to do it.
Thank you in advance.

Hello therealnaughtyone (I won't ask ),
I have purchase some books from my IPad and I want to know if I can sync them into my IPod touch without paying for them again.
Yes. You'll need to copy them from your iPad to iTunes first if they aren't already in your iTunes library. To do this, connect your iPad and choose *File->Transfer Purchases*.
From there, you can set configure the Books tab of your iPod touch in iTunes to sync these purchased books. For more help and information, see the iBooks chapter of your iPod's *User Guide*.

  • Cannot sync iTunes purchased movies to iPad 4/Apple TV

I'm getting sick and tired of iTunes issues that have been reported time and time again, but don't seem to get resolved.
Issue: I buy a film in either HD or SD from iTunes. I then try to sync said film to my iPad and I get the error that it cannot be sync'd as my iPad cannot play the movie. However, if I download the same purchase directly to the iPad, it plays without any issue whatsoever. This is also the case for my Apple TV (1st Gen).
Technical: iTunes version: 11.0.5, Mac: MacBook Pro (late 2008) with 8GB RAM running OSX 10.8.4, iTunes Library running on TimeCapsule (currently 680GB in size). iTunes manages locations and files.
S.I.V. (Sphincter Irritation Value): 9.6 (out of 10) - this issue costs me a fortune in lost monthly download allowance as I frequently end up downloading the same thing twice.

I belive the Apple TV (both current version and previous version) only have 8GB of cache, so this is less than what most people would have in even the basic iPad model (16GB).  But the Apple TV is designed for streaming from another source (iTunes server for rented movies, your Mac over iTunes sharing, Netflix server, etc.)  The iPad is designed for WiFi streaming but due to agreements with the cellular carriers, they don't want to host all of that bandwith for streaming movies over their data networks.  At least, not at this time.  Perhaps that will change with 4G?  Even so, that level of data use will probably be expensive.  It would be more economical to buy an iPad with more RAM next time (or trade up -- I sold my old iPad on Amazon for almost what I paid for it and got the model with more RAM).

Couldn't sync the ibook after after the OS to X10.9

    hi dan,
well, from what i've read, it says every time i sync and after it goes over some memory quota, apparently it starts to charge for every sync, etc.

and i am thinking OTA refers to "over the air" right? (guessing!)
    thank you!

  • How do you authorize computer to sync previous purchases to another ipad

Im trying to sync a few things from my itunes to my sons ipad.  It is telling me that I cant download until I authorize the computer. How do I do that

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Try to position your iphone that the screen is facing away from your skin.
Make sure that the back part of your phone will be the one that will contact your skin inside your pocket
    Thats what i do:)

  • After iBooks purchase on iPad, Books sync in iTunes incorrectly switches away from "All Books"

    Background:
    iTunes 11.4 on OSX 10.9.5
    iPad running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
    iPhone running iOS 8.0 (12A365)
same behaviour observed w. iOS 7.x and iTunes 11.x
I have a largish library of ~500 books and PDFs, managed via Books v1.0.1 on OSX. I sync all of my content to both the iPhone and iPad in its entirety as it contains both light reading and technical content for work and reference.
I've noticed that sometimes my library of books gets out of sync between the three devices and hadn't narrowed the cause. Last week I got caught without some important info available to me due to the issue, so I invested some time tracking it down.
    Issue:
With iTunes set under the Device sync setting to sync "All Books" and both ends currently in (content) sync, if you make a purchase on the iPad/iPhone via iBooks so that a new book is added to the device library … and then plug in via USB to OSX and sync the device in iTunes. iTunes will toggle the "All Books" option to "Selected Books" and only select the single entry just purchased.
That causes the new book to be synced successfully to the OSX Books library (where it was already pending as a cloud purchase anyway), but now the issue is that iTunes retains the "Selected Books" sync setting going forward for that device (with whatever context that may be referring to lost). Hence further additions to the OSX Books library and/or the iPad/iPhone library are ignored for syncing going forward, until such time as you realise and manually revert the setting to "All Books" as required.
It seems some of the behaviour on book purchasing/library changes is definitely broken and has been so for quite some time (at least last 2-3 releases of iTunes). Interestingly, adding a PDF to iBooks on the iPad/iPhone (such as via the services menu from a Safari page) seems to trigger the behaviour sometimes but not with the same repeatability.
Can anyone else verify this behaviour or know if its a reported issue?

Sorry, I was only able to get back to this issue today, but it worked.
Thank you again Michael for your help. It was as simple as just buyng a free book from the iTunes store to create a Books area, then I was able to drag and drop my 3rd party book there.
Still, I feel that there should already be a Books area in iTunes, but perhaps I am the only one who has updated iTunes on a computer without any previously purchased books on it from the iTunes store.

  • I have iBooks 2.1 on ipad. I changed my password and can no longer update the app. If I delete the app and install the updated version, will I lose the books I have purchased?

I have iBooks 2.1 on ipad. I changed my password and can no longer update the app. If I delete the app and install the updated version, will I lose the books I have purchased?

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if you can then update the app.
If you do delete the app then you should be able to re-download your ibook purchases via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app. But in case some of them are no longer available in the store and/or you have PDFs or epubs in it, then you could first connect it to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) which should copy them over to the Books part of your iTunes library so that you have your own copy of them and can sync them back (even though they aren't iTunes purchases it should also copy over any PDFs or epubs that you have in the iBooks app)

  • How do I get iTunes to sync working PDF files to iPad (iBooks)?

iTunes is synching PDFs into its books section (I can confirm the latest file times) but not passing the updated PDF to iPad iBooks during syncs (the file is selected for sync).  How do I get iTunes to sync the latest PDF to iPad without manually deselecting and then reselecting to force a sync?

The problem here is that iTunes wants to make sure that the songs that were purchased are sent to the same device that purchased them.  In this case, you would need to authorize your computer first.   This is as easy as opening iTunes, find "store" in the upper status bar, and select Authorize This Computer.   A dialogue will pop up asking for your iTunes ID and your password.  Enter the ID you purchased the songs with.  Afterwords, you should be able to sync the songs.

Hi - I'm trying to sync iBooks on my Macbook Pro with iBooks running on my iPad. I have some pdf's download from the net I want to share between devices and I can't work out how to sync the two devices. Any help please? I'm running Mavericks

Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

  • Syncing iBooks on iPad to PC iTunes

Can I get the books I purchased on my iPad iBooks app to sync and save/backup on iTunes on my PC??? When I try to sync, iTunes seems to want to overide my iPad with my iTunes info instead of the other way around. I don't want to lose what I've already purchased. Any help would be appreciated ...
    Thanks everybody.
    Dave

Finally got the iBooks synced with iTunes after the 7th or 8th time. First it took all the books I purchased off my iPad and put them in iTunes on my PC. Then I couldn't get them back on my iPad. After speaking to Apple phone support who kept insisting to me that the only way that would happen is if I synced my iPad with another computer (which I don't own another PC) or that the iPad was setup at the store where I bought it (it wasn't, the box was sealed when I got it home)I got disconnected from phone support (twice, including I'm assuming was an attempted call back which was disconnected immediately) After just trial and error I finally got things where I need them to be. But, what happens the next time I try to sync everything ??? I don't think that'll be for a while ... Like the iPad, but support, not so much ...

  • Ibooks purchases syncing between devices

My iBooks is not synching properly between devices - this is a recent problem.  When I make an iBooks purchase on my iPhone - the book will not download onto my iPad and vice versa.  I checked my iBooks settings and the 'sync bookmarks' and 'sync collections' is both turned on.  I also have removed the iBooks on my iphone and then downloaded again and the recent purchases are still 'downloading' and are grayed out.

I have a quick update.  I spent hours upon hours on this and i figured out that iTunes is the central management peice of the puzzle.  I have a windows 7 laptop and I have an ipad 3 and an iphone 4 and iphone 5.  All are set to sync iBooks.  In iTunes, the devices have sync options for music and other items such as iBooks.  If you enable ibooks synchying for each device then it will synch all pdfs and books as long as the documents exist in itunes ibooks library  i found that individual devices can edit names of pdfs but that change is not reflected on other devices. so i made all my pdf docs "properties" changes in itunes library, then deleted all ibooks from my ipad and iphones, then synched all over again! that solved my problem.
make sure "synch all ibooks" is checked in itunes synch options per device.
this is annoying because i should not need my pc or itunes to synch ibooks pdf files as well as changes across all devices.  i want to eliminate the need for my pc but the cloud isnt as sophisticated as i assumed...

    Hi, mtsak.
I would recommend transferring your purchases to your computer.  After the transfer is complete your media should be in your iTunes library.  If the indicator that your iPad will be erased appears, just sync the transferred media.  Only media purchased via iTunes with your Apple ID will transfer.  From there, you should be able to backup.

Also, if you ever are missing purchased iTunes media, you can download it again free of charge by following the steps in the article below.

  • Sync iBooks From iPAD to iPhone

Please follow the steps below to figure out how to Sync iBooks From iPAD to iPhone
Before Starting: Settings For Both Devices
    1. Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections > On
    Then...
    1. Sync iPAD with iTunes.
    2. File > Transfer Purchases From iPAD (this should transfer those books your purchased on your iPAD onto your iTunes)
    3. Un-sync iPAD from computer
    4. Sync iPhone
    5. Store > Purchased > Drag book(s) from the "Purchased folder" to your iPhone (this should transfer your book(s) from iTunes onto your iPhone)

No, this is not necessary or correct. It's not necessary to transfer to and from the iTunes library. When you sign into your iBooks account on each device you have iBooks installed in:
iBooks > Store > Purchased > shows everything you bought > download from there wirelessly.
