Syncing ical(calendars) to device via itunes

I am not sure how to go about this. I would like to be able to sync my ical to device. Would like to know what changes, if any, need to be made on my device, ical, and itunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had duplicate birthday entries in iCal (that came from my Address Book); here's what I did.
Previously my address book had entries some in "On my mac" and others in "iCloud". Using address book, I copied all the entries from "On my mac" into iCloud then deleted all the entries in "On my mac".
This enabled me to sync with other devices using iCloud. All then everything looked ok.
In the event that my broadband might fail and I did not have access to iCloud, I copied all the entries in "iCloud" into "On my mac". That's whe the duplicate entires showed up.
It seems that iCal picks up birthday entries from "On my mac" and "iCloud".
My iPhone Calendars application allows me to select "On my iPhone", "All iCloud" or "Show all calendars". The latter gives duplicate birthdays but selecting either of the others doesn't.
Unfortunately iCal on my mac does not seem to have the option to select birthdays from "On my mac", "iCloud" or "All calendars" so the only way I could stop the duplicates was to delete the Address Book entries in "On my mac".
It seems Apple's implementation and my expectations of it are different. Alternatively, the software needs a bit more effort to make sure "it just works".
I never had these problems with MobileMe - seems by the time they got that working OK it had been decided to "rebrand" away the initial poor reputation (that seems to be the fashionable thing to do nowadays), dumb it down, remove several great features and go back to square 1 instead of building and improving on what was already there. So disappointing!

Sync seems to be playing up when I sync my iPhone 4 with my iMac using iTunes. Events entered into Calendar on my iPhone do not appear in Calendar on my mac after syncing. They must be there however since if I then sync Calendar on the mac with iCal on my ipod they appear in calendar on my iPod. Is it justa display problem or am I being a bit thick??!

My iCal mysteriously no longer syncs with my iPhone 3gs via iTunes sync. It worked great until about a month ago. I've made over 300 Calendar changes to my iPhone 3gs' Calendar, but not a single item has synced back to my iCal on my iMac, when I sync my iTunes (which I do almost daily). In addition, I've created some items on my iCal, as a test, and none of them sync onto my iPhone 3gs.
What gives? Ideas? Suggestions?

Well, I was able to manually sync my iPhone to my iCal one time, but haven't been able to get it to sync Calendar info since then. It was moderately successful, so I could export an iCal backup file. However, I ended up with about 200 MORE duplicate items on my iPhone, and what's weird is that many of these duplicates do NOT have any "edit" functionality! So I a, stuck with them being on the day they are at right now. Grrrrrr

How can I get the iPad to sync Outlook 2010 in Parallels via iTunes?

I want to be able to sync my iPad with both iCal on the iMac and Outlook 2010 in Microsoft Office 2010, installed in Parallels 7. What happens is that when I connect the iPad to the iMac (USB) it syncs directly with iCal via iTunes. How can I get the iPad to sync Outlook 2010 in Parallels via iTunes as well? Do I have to download and install another copy of iTunes in Windows 7 in Parallels?

Don't think that's possible as iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.
Is there a specific reason you're using Outlook?

Cannot reset device via iTunes (Touch 1st gen)

I'm having serious problems with my iPod Touch 1st Gen.
When starting apps, I get back to the start screen after 2-3 sec.
Cannot sync with iTunes, nor reset device via iTunes.
Is there any way to factory restet the device, by pressing and holding buttons?

I don't know if your iPod 1st gen has this but my iPod 4th gen has this thing where you go to settings then general and at the bottom it says reset then click on reset all and earase everything

I have just bought a new IPAD. It has never been synced with a computer or via itunes on a computer, I tried to set it up using my APPLE ID and mobile number, it prompted me to connect to ITUNES. Unsure of what to do next, I closed it and took it to work. When I opened it one hour later it prompted me for the passcode. I never set up a passcode. I tried various combinations (my husband iphone, birthdates, kids passcodes etc) to see if somehow it had linked itself to their passcode. I called the shop I bought it from and was advised it would cost me 70 dollars to have it reset. I feel completely devastated that I haven't even been able to use the IPAD and I am already stuck. Can anyone offer some solid advice?

Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Making another change to the library such as downloading the current iTunes Free Single of the Week, or deleting one track from your library and reimporting it, should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to correct things.

No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

Sync Exchange calendar to iPhone via iCal on a Mac

My company uses Exchange 2007 for mail, contacts, calendar. Unfortunately, it does not support access to Exchange from the iPhone. For mail on the iPhone, I use the IMAP client which works well. For the contacts, Address Book can talk to our LDAP server. However, for calendar access, I'm stuck. I can see the Exchange events on my Mac iCal. Non-Exchange events sync across to the iPhone using MobileMe. The only way to get the Exchange events to the iPhone is via iTunes, which is not helpful since I don't want to have to do that continuously. Does anyone know how to sync Exchange events to an iPhone? Or any other solution?

On my iPhone I have calendars from my MobileMe Account and calendars from the sync function in iTunes. This has given my duplicates in many instances. So now I've gone into iTunes to check my settings and see that iCal calendars are only to be synced using MobileMe. Thinking a iTunes sync with no calendars selected would fix this problem, I refigured those settings with only one calendar selected. However, it is taking forever for Calendars to sync with my iPhone.
What is going on here?

Turned Calendar Syncing on my iPhone off then back on again. When the iPhone asked to merge calendars I said yes. Fixed the problem.

Unable to sync Audiobook to any iDevice via iTunes

I got a MP3 audio book from my local library. Imported it into iTunes and found I was unable to drag it to my iPad mini or iPad Air (both running IOS 8.1). I read thru several forum posts of other people ticked off about the same problem, and I just figured out what the problem was in my instance... MATCH caused a fault! As soon as I disabled MATCH in iTunes, I was able to drag the book to the device and sync it up.
With MATCH enabled, if I click on my device in iTunes (when it appears after plugging in via USB), I could see the audiobooks in iTunes, but I couldn't drag them to the device. If I opened the device and found the audiobook, it wouldn't let me select it to sync (I had the selection set to sync selected audiobooks. None of the audiobooks show any tracks, except books that were synced over previously. With match turned off, the same problem occurs in that I cannot select a book to sync. However, if I just browse the books in iTunes I can drag the book to my device and sync it that way.
Wanted to post this in the hopes that this will help another person who is ticked off with the poor management of iTunes.

I've been trying to update my iPhone 3G to OS 4.2 for a couple days. The download of this 323MB behemoth is atrociously (and that's my mild adjective) slow even on my relatively fast internet connection and always errors out with a 'lost connection' (on their end, not mine). Hello, Steve, UPDATE your darned servers! Stop using Apple computers.... ;P

Syncing iCal calendar todos with Mobile Me todos

Omnifocus will only sync my todos with the iCal calendar on my Mac.
I use and sync events with Mobile Me.
Is there anyway I can sync the iCal Calendar todos on my local mac with one of my MobleMe calendars?

This will be no consolation. But I'm having the same problem. For me the issue began when I signed up for the MobileMe iCal beta (at least I think that's the culprit).
I was no longer able to sync iCal to the MobileMe server after the update (and I kept getting an error message in iCal). I downgraded back to the "regular" MobileMe iCal and got the iCal on my iMac up and running again.
However, now I don't seem to be able to sync my iPhone with Mobile me. I've turned it off from settings and turned it back on, but it's not working.
