Syncing ical on two iMac

Hello,
I have two iMac 24 connected via ethernet.
I want to sync the iCals on the two computers.
How can I do it?
TIA

riklar, I'd recommend doing it easily through a *MobileMe membership* (from Apple). If you are a MobileMe member, just go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync ... and then put a check-mark beside those items (in your case, Calendars) you want to sync to another Mac, your iPhone or iPod touch, or just backup to MobileMe.
If you are not now a MobileMe member (yes, it costs per year, but IMHO is more than worth it), just go here and sign-up for a *FREE 60-day trial* --- then test all the benefits (and there are tons), including a solution to what you want to do. Hope this helps:

  • Can you sync ical from two imacs across a lan/network

Hi Forgive me if this has already been asked previously. I am new here
We have 2 iMacs at home and want to sync our ical's
Is this possible without third party software or subscribing to mobile me!
    Thanks
    Ian

The simplest way is to publish your both calendar to google calendar using CalDAV:
    http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#
and each of you can see both within iCal and even modify the other calendar if the rights are done.
An alternative is to use iCal Exchange(http://www.icalx.com/) but in this case each can only see the other calendar, not modify it.
It works very well here. Good luck

  • Syncing Ical with two IMacs

Hi, My wife and I both have I Macs, and each have a separate mobile me account. We want to work from only 1 ICal. Can this be done? If o, how do you set this up?
    Thanks

I believe it would be possible for you to run your own CalDAV server to achieve this, but it's quite a technical matter and I can't advise on it (possibly someone else can).
An easier solution - and cheaper in the long run than MobileMe - would be to use BusyCal - $49.99 or $79.99 for the Family Pack from the website, or cheaper in the Mac App Store. This is sort of 'iCal Pro' with a number of extra facilities. It uses iCal's database, so can easily be used as a replacement.
It can sync calendars instantly between Macs on a network - though both machines have to be on simultaneously for this to work: changes made on one Mac turn up seconds later on the other.
As an free alternative you may be able to get the desirable results with Google Calendar, running in a similar way to MobileMe (though I understand it doesn't handle ToDos). I don't know how effective or reliable this is.

  • I cannot sync Ical on my iMac with my professional calendar (outlook web access). and I don't understand why it doesn't work since I have already made it with my iPhone. Help

    Hello,
I bought an iMac few days ago. I would like to sync ical on my iMac with my professional calendar I use in my company (from outlook web access).
I was easy to manage it on my iPhone (I just add a new "exchange" mail account and ask for a calendar sync only) and it worked very quickly.
But I cannot do it with the iMac, and I don't undersatnd why?
the domain is is used for my iPhone is the following :
    owa.companyname.com
I tried all the solutions I found in this forum but it doesn't work.
Many thanks in advancefor your help.

Does it have to be an applet?
If you want the same behaviour as in the code with traffic lights, change
    class MortgageApplet extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
    to
    class MortgageApplet extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
    and change
    public void init() {
    to
    public MortgageApplet() {

How do you sync iCal on my iMac to my iPad?

    Hi Patti,
You need to use a server calendar system like on iCloud or Google Calendar. You could alternatively connect your iPad to the computer and use iTunes to sync calendars.

  • Syncing iCal on two different Macs

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac and would love to sync my calendars but don't know how. Can someone help me? And no, I don't have access to iDisk, i.e., MobileMe.
    Appreciatively,
    Ron

DropBox is fairly straight-forward, see here: [http://mac-curious.com/2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox/|http://mac-curious.com /2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox>
In practice, that only syncs desktops and doesn't help with your phone. It's also a little dangerous if you have multiple computers opening and modifying the files in Dropbox at the same time (as far as I know, iCal isn't designed to recognize when the files are being changed by another program while it's running).
A better idea is to use Google Calendar. In that scenario, your reference calendar is Google, and everything syncs with it. You need to first make an account on calendar.google.com. After you've made the account, you can create multiple calendars, share them with others, and access calendars they share with you.
Follow these instructions here for adding your Google calendars to iCal: [http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical|h ttp://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical]
They work just like local calendars, but the data is copied to/from the Google servers.
Your iPhone also has built-in CalDAV support for connecting to Google calendar. On the phone, go to the Setting application and click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Click on Add Account... then "Other". Click on Add CalDAV Account and provide your Google calendar info (server is "www.google.com", username is your e-mail address, password is your Google account password).
If you use Google calendar, you can have several calendars in iCal / on your iPhone. When you modify a calendar, the client changes the local copy and the copy on the server at the same time (and those changes propagate to everyone with access to that calendar, including everyone you've shared a calendar with).
For what it's worth, you can do basically the same thing with Google and Address Book. I haven't set that up yet, but I'm considering it.

  • I just moved my mobile me account to the cloud.  I can no longer sync iCal with my iMac running os 10.5 (this is an old iMac which cannot upgrade to Lion).

I just moved my Mobile Me account to an iCloud account and can no longer sync between iCloud and this older iMac. I can post changes to my iCal on my other Mac's running OS Lion, but when I do so they don't appear on this computer in iCal.    I can't upgrade this iMac to an OS greater than 10.5

Yes,that is the sad case, the only option other than a new Mac is to view iCal via Web on the older Mac & manually add changes to your old iCal.

  • Sync iCal across two computers?

    Hi there -
I just bought a router, and it's working beautifully. I was wondering if it is possible to sync my iCal from my home desktop iMac to my iBook (without using .Mac or a palm device) through my router?

As indicated above, the solution is to use SyncTogether from Mark/Space.
You should never attempt to use a Palm device as a data 'carrier' to synchronize data, as severe record corruption will result.
The synchronization framework, including clients like the Address Book, iCal, iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit, as well as replacements for it like the Missing Sync for Palm OS and supplemental sync-aware applications like Entourage, Transmit and Yojimbo are not intended to support such procedures. You need to use a dedicated tool like SyncTogether or .Mac Sync to achieve what you want.

  • Can't sync iCal on my iMac to my iPhone

Spent most of yesterday trying to sync the info on iCal on my desktop iMac to my iPhone.  Still can't do it.  Any help would be appreciated.  New member here; first post.  Thanks so much.  Liz

Once upon a time, I had LION installed on my 24" iMac.  I moved my MobileMe account to iCloud.  Shortly after that, the badly botched Lion installation (done by an Apple Genius over the phone) caused so much trouble, I had to take my desktop in to be serviced.  They did a complete back up and reinstalled Snow Leopard.  So now I have a mobile me account (through Snow Leopard) that does not input into iCloud.  However, I can still access iCloud from iCloud.com.
    That was TMI, wasn't it?
So, from what I am hearing, I should just go to iCloud to schedule things from now on, instead of using iCal on the 24"....?
    Thanks for your reply!
    Liz

  • Possible to Sync iCal on two networked Macs without .Mac?

I tried the MySync beta, and it did not work on my setup.
I have two Macs, a Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz and a 24-inch iMac, connected on a LAN. The two can see each other via file sharting no problem. I do not have a .Mac account and don't want to pay for one just for this.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use iSynCal to accomplish synchronizing iCal between 2 LAN connected Macs. While I have OSX 10.3.9 it can be used on "Tiger"
    Get it at:

Please note that it is shareware.

  • Syncing iCal on two different iPhones over iTunes, 3G, WiFi?

We have two iPhones at the office. We have a desktop mac each. Is it possible (and how?) to add info in iCal of iPhone #1 and then add the info to iPhone #2 ?
And then - can this be done over 3G and/or WiFi?

    Hello, gref1975
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The best option would be to create separate user account on the computer that you separately use to sync with.  This keeps contact and calendar data from being merged together.  You can however still sync or share media with each user by following the steps in the second article below.
    Create multiple user accounts
Do you share your computer with someone who has different tastes in music and media? You can create separate user accounts for each person who uses the computer. You can maintain separate, personalized iTunes libraries and customize each devices' sync settings accordingly.

Learn how to set up other user accounts.
    OS X Mountain Lion v10.8
    OS X Lion v10.7
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
    Windows users
Look in your computer's Help documentation to learn how to set up other user accounts. To find this information:
Click the Start Menu and click Help or Help and Support.
Enter "new user" in the Search field.
    Press Return.
If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same media to be available in iTunes for all users, you can share music between different accounts on a single computer.

  • Can I sync iCal between two iPhones?

My wife and I each have a Mac and an iPhone and MobileMe. We each use iCal, which syncs wonderfully well for each of us, separately. What I want to do is be able to enter some shared events and have them sync to both desktops and both iPhones. I know I can create a shared calendar and publish it to MobileMe and then have her subscribe it, BUT that puts the event in a read-only status on her desktop only, and not on the iPhone.
I'm led to believe that OS 3.0 will solve this. Is that true? Is there a solution now, and if so, is there one that I won't have to undo when 3.0 comes out?

We have one MM account for the both of us [email protected]
Ok i'll try the instructions bit now
All this is done from the MM web interface
First we stopped the home computers syncing to MM
Then we set up two email aliases [email protected] and [email protected]
that way we can each have an individual email address and a shared one as well
We then filter the email coming in so they go to a folder named for each of us or if it's sent to the main MM email account it stays in the inbox (though you can just leave it so all mail to both of you along with the main email will go into the inbox)
choose Actions(the little gear symbol)>Preferences>Aliases tab to manage aliases
For calendars you go to the calendar view
Then on the left click on the + symbol or right click and choose to create new calendar we created three "us" (for shared events), "myself" (for me), "mywife" (for my wife) and assigned a colour to each
    on the iPhone
go to settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar>(appropriate calendar for each iPhone)
This means that when you create a calendar entry it will default to being in your colour
If you want to create a calendar entry for your wife when you add a new event there is an option to choose the calendar you add it to, once the event is added though you can't edit this afterwards.
The default view is to see all calendar entries for everyone if you just want to see your events open Calendar>Calendars then select the appropriate calendar to just view that calendars events the calendar will remember this setting for next time
Once this was done we re-sync'd the home computers to MobileMe and they picked up the multiple calendars and displayed the entries accordingly so no setup was required on them.
Hope this helps if you want me to expand on any points let me know as i tried to keep it as brief as possible while still providing a reasonable guide.

  • Sync iCal to two macs

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to sync my ical calendars (one on my imac and one on my mbp- both running lion) wirelessly or using air dorp or anyother way?

    Greetings Carolyn,
To sync calendars between several Macs you have some choices:
    - If you are a current MobileMe member, you can use MobileMe to sync the calendars. If you are not a MobileMe member at present, it will be replaced in the fall by iCloud which will have a similar calendar sharing ability: http://www.apple.com/icloud/
    - Use a free calendar service like Google Calendars. (Type in "Set up a calendar account in iCal" in the iCal help menu for details or just ask if you want more info on that option)
    - Use a sync program to sync the calendars across the Macs: http://www.busymac.com/busysync/
If you would like more details on one of these options just ask.
    Cheers.
