  • How to sync iCal on iPad to Outlook 2011 on MacBook.

    Has anyone tried to sync iCal on iPad to Outlook 2011 for Mac. I'm having trouble getting my new MacBook, iPad, and Blackberry to all be on the same page. Everything I'll tried seems to only work on iCal and not the Outlook calendar. I've tried the info page in iTunes when the iPad is connected but it only shows iCal in the calendar sync options and my Blackberry only syncs to iCal. When I get meeting requests in Outlook they don't show in iCal. I'm basically carrying two calendars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's been driving me crazy.

    You can have the calendar on your iPad, and iCal on your Mac use Outlook calendars, if your business has the Exchange server set up correctly. In both cases, you need to add your Outlook email account as an Exchange account (in Settings on iPad, in mail.app on Mac). Once completed, the two calendars will not sync back and forth with one another, but you can view both of them in iCal and on the iPad, as well as create events and respond to invitations.
    The big caveat - if you business or school has their Exchange server set up for this type of access. Many do.

  • Syncing iCal and Ipad Calender

    I had my iPad Calender and iCal on my desktop syncing perfectly. Then it stopped working, and it's not syncing at all.
    I also installed MobileMe calender Beta -- could that be a problem?
    Could someone please help me and let me know somethings I could try? I am feeling quite silly and trying not to blame the iPad or my computer, but it sure is tempting to go back to Google Calender.

    The MobileMe beta calendar is the problem. It's not compatible with over the air syncing on devices below iOS 4.01, which they describe in the known issues section regarding the calendar beta. To get calendars back on your iPad from MobileMe, you need to either begin syncing them through iTunes, rather than through the cloud, or roll back to the non-beta version of MobileMe calendar (which is supposedly a royal pain).

  • Can't sync iCal from iPad mini to Macbook via USB

    I can't use iCloud where I am, and though I can sync most everything else on my iPad mini with my Macbook, I just cannot seem to do so with iCal. I have gone and googled it and it seems several others have had the same problem, but I can't figure out the issue.

    iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
    The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
    Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options...,  and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

  • Sync iCal with iPad--missing data

    I recently bought an iPad2 and synced it with my iCal on my MacBook.  It synced fine for everything except all the data on the iCal in the past; that is, from the date I first Synced it.  Subsequent syncs have done the same thing--I cannot get data transferred from the iCal on my MacBook to the calendar on my iPad2 that occurred before I bought the iPad. Can you help me with this? I am using  USB connection to  sync.
    Thanks

    I have a similar problem with getting Calendar info to transfer from my MBP (10.6.x).
    I just got an iPad2 but when I sync the Calendars, all that I get are birthdays! Even when I tell it to sync my "Work" calendar only, nothing shows up except Birthdays!
    I have looked at the settings in iTunes and in the iPad2 and they all seem to be correct (as far as I can tell...).
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do you sync iCal on my iMac to my iPad?

    How do you sync iCal on my iMac to my iPad?

    Hi Patti,
    You need to use a server calendar system like on iCloud or Google Calendar. You could alternatively connect your iPad to the computer and use iTunes to sync calendars.

  • ISSUE: syncing iCal on iPhone & iPad

    I have the iPhone 4 & the newest iPad. I need to sync iCal over iCloud on these devices. Sometimes an even I enter in one iCal appears in the other device, and sometimes it doesn't. It seems very random! This causes much anxiety/frustration, as I need to carry and check both devises to make sure I am not missing appointments.
    Is there a way to ensure that syncing always works?
    Perhaps more importantly, is there a way to manually PUSH iCloud syncing on both devices? If I could manually push syncing once each morning, it wouldn't matter to me if the devices update during the day.
    NOTE (if relevant): I use them for hotspots, so do not have Wi-Fi at home. (Yet, at home, they randomly sometimes do sync, so this isn't the whole issue.)
    Thank you!!!

    P.S. One more note: Syncing with iTunes is not a good option for me. I have an old MacBook that does not support ICloud. I have been advised by Apple to *never* sync my iCal with iTunes, becuase when I did that the fist time, I duplicated tons of calendars and hand to hand-delete dozens of events, yowza.

  • Can't get iCloud calendar to sync with ical, iPhone, iPad

    I'm stumped. I have a calendar which I use (Google) that syncs with my iPad and iPhone but will not sync with my iCloud calendar. Is there a problem doing this? My iCal calendar (on my Macbook) will sync with the mobiles but not with the iCloud calendar online.

    Mine is similar, I've managed to sync contacts but no calendar, it says that I don't have an account on outlook. When actually there is.

  • How can I sync my husbands iPad with a different apple id with my ical?

    How can I sync my husbands iPad with a different apple id with my ical?
    He just got an ipad and he has a seperate Apple id, and we need to sync the address book and the ical togeher?

    You can add your iCloud account to his iPad as a secondary account to his primary account (settings > mail, contacts, calendars) and enable just contacts and calendars.

  • ICal on iPad does not sync with other idevices

    I am using iCal on my iPad2, iPhone 4S, MacBook Air and iMac. The two computers are running Lion 10.7.2. All iCals sync perfectly, except the iPad. If I make a calendar entry on the iPad2 it does not go out to any of the other devices. An iCal entry on the other devices go out to the iPad with no problem. For some reason, under Settings/General/Mail, Contacts and Calendars, I have four calendars: MobileMe Calendar and Inbox, and [email protected] Calendar and Inbox. The default I have set is MobileMe Calendar but it doesn't seem to make any difference as far as being able to sync with this iPad. Any ideas appreciated.

    I have solved my problem - don't know if yours is the same. I noticed on iPhone, when I listed the calendars there are two sections: the top line showed "All Calendars ->"; when I click on that I get duplicate entries for everything.
    Below that is:
    "From My Mac.
    "All from My Mac ->", followed by a list of individual calendars. When I clicked on that I got single entries.
    This led me to realize that in my Settings ->Accounts I had the old "...mac.com" a/c and new "..me.com" a/c. I had thought it didn't matter.
    Once I eliminated the "mac.com" A/c, I had only one set of calendars.
    Hope this helps you.

  • MobileMe sync of iCal on iPad doesn't work

    I have iPad, 2 mac computers and the MobileMe cloud.  MobileMe sync of Address Book work across all platforms.  MobileMe sync of Calendar works except on the iPad.   Why?  I can't see any differences in settings on iPad.  Yes, both Calendar and Address Book are checked for syncing on the iPad.  Must be something dumb I've done but I can't see it.

    Question 1:
    If got as far as 4. Tapping "Calendar" gives a Pull down list with the 1st four lines: 1) "Show Calendars" with black background, 2) "Hide All Calendars", 3) "MobileMe" with gray background, 4) "All MobileMe" , 5 thru 10) are the names of my calendars.   I have all calendars check marked. I see no "done" button.   Where is it?
    Comment 1:  Playing around with the "Fetch New Data" Push and Fetch settings does not get  "synced" calendars.  But I do get "synced" Contacts.
    Question 2:
    What is the state of the iPad after I do the "restore the iPad"?   Are all my settings now back on my iPad ?  If they are not how do I get them reset.  I hope you are not going to say that I have to reenter them all.   Maybe a "sync" from my computer will reset everything?
    Question 3:  Why can't I delete the iCal app and download a new one?  And if so how do I do it?
    Comment 2:  This was one of the first iPads, bought the 1st week Apple was selling them.
    Thank you for your help.
    Chuck

  • ICal on iPads occasionally not syncing

    My partner and I use iCal on iPads to make bookings and we share the same Apple ID to sync the calendars. Usually this works fine, however occasionally one of my bookings is duplicated on mine so I delete one entry but then my partner doesn't see anything on his in this time slot so he ends up booking something else in and we double book appointment times. Why is this?

    Hello Janice,
    It sounds like the iCloud calendar is not syncing between your iPad and iMac.  I recommend following the steps in the sections titled "General troubleshooting," "Troubleshooting on iOS devices," and "Troubleshooting on OS X" in the following article to assist with syncing your calendar events between your devices:

  • ICal v4.0.4/OSX.6.8 sync problem with iPad 3

    I've asked for help on the iPad forum twice now without a single response, so I am thinking that it might be an iCal/iTunes problem rather then iPad/Calendar one!
    I'll repeat the basics here and post this link (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21740855#21740855) to my iPad thread post which explains in more detail.
    Essentially, syncing between my iCal v4.0.4 (1395.7) under MacOSX.6.8 Build 10K549 and my Calendards under iOS 6.1.3 (10B329) on an iPad 3rd generation is erratic and unreliable.  I do not use iCloud and syncing is done via USB cable and iTunes v11.0.2 (26).
    What makes it worse is that the symptoms change!
    Currently, appointments created on the iPad do not sync across to iCal but appointments created in iCal do sync across to the iPad.
    Previously, existing appointments shown in iCal but which are subsequently edited show in iCal as expected but on the iPad as both the old and new entry.  Also, when creating an appointment in iCal the edit panel opens in the default calendar which is then changed to the correct calendar and actual data - the default panel and edited data both appreaded on the iPad.
    I have recently noticed that iCal periodically, yet rarely, presents a message when opening: Upgrading iCal Calendars and when this has completed, syncing returns to normal.  However, I have no idea what prompts that message nor how I could manually start an "upgrading" so that I can force a syncing correction.
    Complicated?  Well, it is rather difficult to explain what I mean as the problem is so erratic and inconsistent.
    I have tried the Apple suggestion here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627 and it made no difference whatsoever.
    In short, how can I get the iCal and Calendars to sync reliably and acurately?
    My forehead is somewhat flattened after I have spent many hours beating my head against a brick wall over this - please help before the wall gets damaged beyond repair!

    Well, being a bit short of time (and an alleged alpha type male who always rushes ahead of common sense!) I followed your instructions and added a few thoughts of my own along the way - specifically that iTunes might somehow be implicated in this curious affair as that was being used for the syncing. process.
    The result is, I hope you'll be delighted to know, success - syncing is now back to what I would have expected and what nature intended.
    For now that is, because there have been false dawns before and I expect the problem to return and haunt me again at some stage.
    But next time I'll be ready and will know how to confound and defeat the Apple Agents of Confusion!.
    What I did was ...
    backed up iCal to the Desktop in case it all went horribly wrong;
    sync'd without iCal/Calendars being checked in iTunes and thus all iPad calendars were initialised;
    powered off the iPad to remove any "RAM" type data being maintained;
    as earlier, deleted the iCal plist and all iCal/Calendar cache files but this time not only from the main user but from my DropBox and MacMate on-line back-ups (but not from Time Capsule as I wanted to have a fall-back position if it all went pear-shaped) by using Spotlight to look for all Calendar cache files wherever they might be.  I found a number of "document" files called Calendar Cache 17-22-4n n, one per day, stretching back to 23 03 2013 and these were located in my Dropbox folder.  Maybe that's the date when the current errors started to arise?  I really can't remember, but why would the iPad be looking for such files in my DropBox folder?  Most odd.
    reset the SyncServices folder;
    deleted the iTunes plist in case the "memories" of earlier appointments were in there - a long shot and probably a useless step, but I couldn't see any harm in doing it;
    logged out of my user and then back in again;
    relaunched iTunes to recreate a clean plist and then reset my preferences.  Quit iTunes;
    relaunched iCal to recreat a clean plist and then reset my preferences;
    turned on the iPad and connected it via USB lead;
    opened iTunes and reset the syncing options which were erased by resetting the SyncServices folder ealrier;
    sync'd the two devices.  iTunes reported that the iPad was "sync'd with another user" and asked if I wanted to Merge the data or Replace the data on the iPad - I guess that meant all data and not just iCal data as the latter had been cleaned from the iPad in the second stepo above.
    Selected Replace data and sync'd;
    entered a new appointment on iCal, another new one on the iPad and edited the times of an existing appointment on each device and re-sync'd ...
    ... and Robert's your mother's sister's brother's other brother!  Or Bob's your uncle, for short.
    Oh, I missed the final and most important step ...
    breathed a sigh of relief and hit the caffeine!
    I have no idea of which step is the one which resolved the issue so when (note when, not if) it happens again I'll repeat the process one step at a time (re-syncing each step) to see just where in the process the incorrect data is held.
    I'll report back on this thread if I do manage to narrow down the steps to the vital one(s) as I cannot imagine that I'm the only person in the world experiencing this bizarre behaviour.
    As I mentioned in other posts, this has happened more than once before but on those occasions it resolved itself without my intervention - save for me uttering a fair number of good old-fashioned Anglo-Saxon Oaths and Curses all the while the syncing was incorrect - and it was only recently that I noticed it corrected itself after an "iCal upgrade".  That may have been a coincidence, though, as forcing an upgrade deliberately did not cure it this time.
    So I'm pretty confdent it will happen again, but just what triggers this untoward behaviour is beyond me - I can't think of anything that I might do which causes it, nor can I begin to imagine from where the iPad collects the "historical" deleted appointment data which it then displays in addition to the "current" data on appointments.  Nor can I think why it suddenly takes it upon itself to sync (albeit incorrectly) from iCal to iPad but not the other way round.
    I didn't mention this before, but at one point I discussed this with an AppleCare Level 2 Support dweeb in Cork - and he was totally unable to fix it no matter what he tried, nor could he explain what was happenig and why!
    Many thanks for your advice and patience - you may consider yourself a Level 3 (or higher!) surrogate AppleCare Genius!

  • What is the best way to sync iCal, AdressBook, etc on several devices? (iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone)

    I have several Apple devices (iMac, MacBook and iPhone) and I was wondering what is the best way to sync iCal, AdressBook, etc on these devices?
    I have an iCloud acount as well, but how to sync without seeing enteries double (iCal)?
    Many thanks!

    iCloud should not cause duplicate entries in Calendars unless you are syncing using iTunes as well as Wi-Fi. No need for both.
    iCloud backs up:
    Purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books
    Photos and video in the Camera Roll
    Device Settings
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Calendars
