Syncing imessages from mac to iphone

I recently downloaded the OS X Yosemite for mac, this seemed to work fine until now. Usually any message I'd receive on mac would also be received on my iPhone 5S, today however I got an iMessage on my mac yet not on my phone. I've looked at which number or email address messages are sent to and both my number and apple ID are selected, yet I'm not getting the iMessage's on my phone whether I'm on wifi or 3G, or if I've synced my phone, or if I restart my phone.

Open iTunes, connect your iPhone. In iTunes, open your iPhone and on the "Settings" page there's a section for Back-ups. In that pane, there's a section of when the last back up was performed. One for iCloud and another for "This Computer". Both will have a date of when it was last done. Since I back my iPhone up via iCloud, the last back up was earlier today. However, when I last backed up to my computer was way back in March.
The problem with this backing up system, is that it only back ups to ONE of them. So whenever the last time that you backed up to your computer, if ever, the question will it be worth the money for that app that you speak of? Besides, you could always restore your iPhone to that back up that you have on your computer, for free.

  • HT3529 I have lost all data on my iphone and the back-up is too old. How can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4? I have all the chats on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

    Hi,
I have lost all data on my iphone by mistake. I needed to restore the phone and I didnt realize my back-up was 1yr old, and now the phone is restored and I've got a year old contact list and iMessage chat history. Luckily my iMessage on the Mac is still valid and has all the chat history. My question is how can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4 from my Mac? I have all the chat history on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

  • How to sync Notes from Mac to iPhone?

    Hi.
First up .. is Notes supported in Mavericks as I see no specific forum here?
My question is How to sync Notes from Mac to iPhone?
I have lots of Notes written in the Notes application on my iMac.
All these Notes also appear in my iCloud Notes page via Safari. So far, so good.
BUT if I want to sync Notes to my iPhone (iOS 7) my iPhone settings tells me iPhone Notes is default and that if I turn on Notes on iPhone all my iCloud Notes will be deleted.
HOWEVER, I cannot see a way on my iPhone to set the default Notes to iCloud.
I am unsure if this is a OSX question or an iOS question .. but it is a NOTES question.
If you can help, it would be appreciated. Else I will ignore Notes on iPhone (as it seems from other Forums I cannot delete it).
C'mon Apple .. you are losing the ease-of-use mojo.
    Michael

These are fun, call apple care and ask for a senior advisor, Both Mac and ios can help. But I can't help you on here it's just too detailed. Expect to spend about 30 minutes with a senior advisor.

Are you syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, or over the air with MM on your iPhone?
If you are doing the former, this has nothing to do with a problem with your MM online address book.
If you are doing the former, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
    Quit iTunes and launch iSync.
At iSync preferences, select reset sync history.
Restart your Mac and try syncing with iTunes again.

  • How can you transfer iMessages from mac to iPhone?

Does anyone know how to transfer iMessages from either a mac or an iPad onto an iPhone? I want to transfer my history of messages from these devices onto my iPhone. Any help is very much appreciated.

    You can't...
You might be able to copy the message chat files from the iPad to the iPhone using the iExplorer app, but it may not work if you're not on the same iOS version.
However, the messages should sync up on their own, due to the iCloud function but if not, just reference the iPad until you don't need to anymore.
You can use iExplorer and put the message history into a pdf and then put that PDF on your phone.

  • HT3529 Syncing iMessage on mac and iphone

When I went to update my phone to IOS 8 an error occurred and I had to restore my phone. Luckily my mac still has all my messages on it. How can I sync my mac and iPhone so my message are all up to date?

    Hey jennnnay,
Thanks for the question. Did you happen to backup your device before updating to iOS 8? If so, your messages should have been backed up and restoring from that backup should bring them back:

  • Can't sync Contacts from Mac to iPhone

    Hi
I have prb with the MobileMe syncing since I updated my iPhone software to 2.0.2. I can add a new contact to my iPhone, and see it appearing in my Mac, but if I add a contact in my Mac Contact application, it just doesn't sync to my iPhone. Actually, it doesn't even appear on the MobileMe web page.
It was working before the update to 2.0.2. Weird...
    Any idea/help ?
    Thanks
    Laurent

found this solution on this forum...maybe it will help.
    01.) Plug iPhone into computer
02.) Sync the phone in order to back up your latest info.
    03.) Restore iPhone in iTunes
04.) When restore completes, ignore the "set up as new phone" or "restore from backup" screen and just unplug the phone from the computer.
05.) Once unplugged, slide to unlock and tap on the email icon.
06.) Tap on your email type to setup (for me it was gmail)
    07.) Enter your email information.
08.) Load your email and let it download a bunch of emails.
09.) Plug phone back into computer. The "set up as new phone" and "restore from backup" screen will pop up again.
10.) Choose "restore from backup" and select your last backup.
    11.) Wait until complete.

  • Recovering iMessages from Mac to iPhone

I somehow lost all of my iMessages and texts on my iPhone 4 running iOS6.  However, all of the iMessages still appear on the Messages application on my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. Is there a way to get the iMessages back on my iPhone? I tried recovering the iPhone from an iCloud backup but that did not work.

  • How can I sync apps from Mac to iPhone and visa versa.

    Hi,
Firstly I'm not having any problems syncing apps to my iPhone.
I'm very OCD and would like to have it so that If I install an app onto my Mac, it sync to my iPhone. And then if I delete it from my Mac and plug my phone in to sync, it will delete it from my iPhone.
Basically I want my iMac to be the hub of the apps, so everything I see on my iMac will be on my phone.
Let me know if you have a solution for this!
    Tim

As far as installing is concerned, if you install an iPhone app on your Mac and sync your iPhone to your Mac using either USB or WiFi the app will be installed on your phone. You can also go (on the phone) to Settings/iTunes & App Store and turn on Automatic Downloads for apps. Then whenever you buy or download an app on your computer or another Apple device it will automatically be installed on your iPhone.
For uninstalling, there are 2 ways to uninstall; one is on the phone (which you said you don't want to do) and the other is to connect the phone to iTunes, click on it, then on Apps, and uncheck any apps you don't want on the phone, then sync.

  • Transfer imessage from mac to iphone

    Hello.
I deleted a text message conversation from my iPhone.
However, the conversation is still present on my Mac in the "Message" application.
How could I copy the conversation from my Mac back on to my iPhone?
    Thank you.

There is no way to transfer conversations that have already taken place. However, if you log into the Messages App on your Mac with the same Apple ID as on your iOS devices, all future conversations will sync between your devices.

  • Problems syncing Contacts from Mac to iphone - popup says script error MM

Hi, when I did my initial sync from my MBP to the iphone all worked great. But when I made some changes to my Address Book on the MBP yesterday and did a manual sync, those changes were not picked up by the iphone - I tried several times So I logged onto MM to check, clicked on the Contacts icon and got a busy symbol. The folder headings of my address book appeared then I had a popup appear to say that a script was having a problem on the page and I could continue or stop it. I tried continue a few times and eventually had to stop it, the busy symbol just continued. My contacts were never displayed. I tried it this morning and it is the same, is this the cause of my syncing probs and if so how do I fix it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

  • IMessage from Mac to iPhone

Recently when my kids send me a message from my Mac to my iPhone, it sends 2 messages to my phone.  One from my phone number and one from the email address.  I just want it to send one with my email address.  How do I stop the one from my phone?  I went into preferences and just the email address is checked.  My phone number shows up there but it is unchecked.  I signed out and signed in again, but it is still doing it.  It is more annoying than a problem.

Not that I know of. You would have to restore a back-up of the iPhone before the message was deleted. You can also take screen shots on the Mac of the conversation. That would save the conversation in your photos, and you can sync those. Maybe someone else can chime in if I'm missing something.
