Syncing IOS 8.0.2

I have been trying to get my music to sync now for a week. I even took my
phone to Apple store and the " Genius " could not help me. He said that the
software has been flawed, and said to check back with them in a few weeks...Really?
I believe Apple is doing this to have us buy the I-Pod to listen to our music
How can something that used to be automatic when plugging in the phone
happened instantly....and now there seems to be a lot of threads about this topic.
Why is Apple not addressing this issue for us......it seems like we are all here
on our own, trying to fix this from this trick to that trick, a friend did this, I read this on
twitter....etc.
You would think Apple, would post a step by step solution for this " new Version "
instead of something from years ago.
RIP Steve Jobs.....we miss you

I believe your iPhone can also sync Music, if you explain a little more about what specifically you have tried and what occurred, we may be able to help you solve the issues.  I can assure you that Apple is not doing anything to reduce the functionality  of iPhone just to sell iPods.

  • Is there a way to sync IOS 7 with Itunes 10.7?

i made a mistake of upgrading IOS 7 on my ipod and now it won't sync with my Itunes 10.7..  There's no way I will ever upgrade to POS Itunes 11.  Does anyone know a way to sync IOS 7 with Itunes 10.7 ??
    <Re-Titled By Host>

No. Once your devices are running iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later...
The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views

  • Sync iOS Apps to iTunes - Questions on how exactly this works...

I'm going to put my questions up top, but my understanding of the current system is below, and may be relevant to the questions, if you'd like to read through it.
How can I back up / restore a SINGLE app, including its data (e.g. a game save file), to either iTunes or the cloud... or anything else for that matter. Does syncing an app to iTunes serve this purpose?
What IS the purpose of syncing an iOS app to iTunes? Does this sync include the data stored on my iOS device? For example, if I have a game in which I've made progress, is this progress stored on both my iPhone and my Mac once I've synced the app to iTunes?
If data IS synced along with the app, how is this data managed? Say I have two iPhones, both with the same game but different progress in each. If I sync iPhone A with iTunes, then sync iPhone B, will iPhone A's data overwrite iPhone B's? Or are there two versions of this app floating around on my mac?
If data is NOT synced along with the app, why on earth would I want a bunch of huge storage-hogging iOS apps that are identical to what I could download from the App Store taking up GIGABYTES of space on my MacBook's SSD?
And finally, should the answer to question 4 be "there is no reason to store 42GB worth of useless apps on your 256GB SSD alongside your already gigantic iOS device backup files," how would I go about removing these apps stored in iTunes without iTunes trying to delete them from my iOS device every time I want to sync some TV shows or podcasts?
    My Understanding So Far:
Of the many things Apple has addressed and improved upon over the years, backing up iOS app data has strangely not been one of them. As I understand it, the only way to back up an app, including its data (e.g. the save data for a game), is to do a FULL backup of the ENTIRE device. The only way to restore an app, including the data that you backed up, is to restore the ENTIRE device, all other apps included, to a previous state.
The driving force behind these questions is that I'd like the option to delete an app from my iPhone when I'm finished with it - but I'd also like the option to re-download it in the future and pick up where I left off. In a perfect world, all these apps would automatically sync through iCloud or GameCenter, or at least have that option to "upload to iCloud" or "restore from iCloud." Even with these apps, I'm not entirely sure where the backed up files exist - somewhere on my iCloud drive separate from my iPhone backup, photos, contacts, etc? Is there a way to see a list of apps that are storing things in my iCloud drive, and even manage this data?
So if I wanted to back up an app's data that does NOT automatically back up to iCloud, it seems my only option would be to install one of the many 3rd party Mac <-> iOS data transfer apps, and copy the contents of the "Documents" folder to a designated directory on my Mac. Then I could delete the app off my iPhone. Say in the future I re-download the app - I'd use the same data transfer app to copy the backed-up data to the re-downloaded app's Documents folder, and we're back in business. The only downside is that if it's been a while and the app has undergone updates, this backed-up data might be corrupt or no longer relevant. Plus, it's kind of a hassle.
When I discovered iTunes was syncing my apps to my Mac, I thought it might be serving as a way to back up my apps, data included, to my computer. Okay, it seemed like a little overkill to sync the whole app along with the data, but when I discovered that you could UPDATE the apps within iTunes, I thought apple had solved the problem of storing backed-up data for out-of-date versions of an app - simply update the app in iTunes, it does what's necessary to your backed-up data, and when you want to put the app back on your iPhone, voila! Your old data's there, AND you've got the most recent version! But apparently this is not at all how iTunes app syncing works.
As I NOW understand it, when iTunes "syncs" an app to your Mac, it includes only the app's core data - the same as if you'd just downloaded it from the App Store, and it does so for EVERYTHING you've purchased, ever, whether or not it's on any of your iOS devices. I can see how this could be convenient if you live on a farm and want to restore an old app to your iPhone without an internet connection, but I don't think it's worth, unexaggerated, a FIFTH of my hard drive. Worse, I can't figure out how to get rid of them.
    TL;DR
So, if you're still with me, what is the purpose of iTunes App Sync, and if it's as useless as I think it is, how do I get rid of it for good?

You can upgrade to Snow Leopard and skip over Leopard, and only upgrade to Lion later if wanted/needed. snow Leopard specs/requirements below.

  • How to solve issue with strange iphoto events shown in itunes for sync IOS devices ? This issue is very old and not been fixed by apple... terrible

all softwares latest version january 2013.
I see in itunes many strange crazy iphoto events that in iphoto do not exist.
These vents are named as data and contains just few photos.
each event can be sync with IOS devices, but that event is not in iphoto !
It looks like miniatures... no way to solve this issue making all possible maintenance in iphoto library.
THis issue is very old, very terrible, people start to have doubts about iphoto as a reliable software.
    Need a fix asap.
    Apple please help!
I were with 2 hours at genius bar but nothing.
Genius told me apple have been informed and they are working on a solution..... this 4 months ago !!!
    Need solution asap
    THanks
    Fabio

Apple aren't here. As you're the only person with this problem that I've seen on here, I would suspect that its more a local problem on your machine than something Apple need to fix.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • ITunes 10.5 won't really sync iOS 5 iPod touch 3g

    Hi,
I have recently upgraded my iPod touch 3g to iOS5.
Now I face nothing but problems.
The problem I would like to discuss here is following:
iTunes 10.5.0.142 on Windows 7 Home Premium
    iPod touch 3g with iOS5.0.
When I synchronize 1 or more apps the apps appear on the iTunes app window, but not on the iPod itself.
When I delete an app on iTunes and synchronize, the app disappears from the iTunes app window, but not on the iPod itself.
So, even if you would think a real sync it taken place, it is just a bogus sync, or at most an iTunes internal sync.
Only when I sync music or a book, then it really syncs.
This means that in principle everything is okay.
In fora I see a lot of sync issues, but did not came across this one yet.
    Other problem I have is:
App Store crashes all the time.
It starts, says Loading... and then crahses after a few seconds.
Some say that if you download 1 free app it will solve some problems (like other apps crashing at once), but I cannot get to the point of downloading an app.
And when downloading an app via iTunes, I run into my not-really-syncing problem.
I have hard-resetted the iPod several times.
    I have re-installed iOS5.
I also tried to down-grade to iOS 4.3.5 but that fails on error message 3194.
All suggestion for solving that problem did not help.
The iPod is prety useless at this moment, except for listening music.
I also have an iPad 1 running on iOS5 and there I have no problems at all.
    Any advice is welcome.
    Greetings,
    ejdv

Unsupported is the official line so any help would be use your own sleuthing skill to find a how to article and what you need to do to get 4.3.x back and restored - of course backups of everything - AppData, iTunes media - whatever you can.
However.... there are apps that are not iOS 5 friendly or not iTunes 10.5.
If you see "Other" as more than a fraction of GB then likely need to restore the device completely, corrupt data or whatever.
Might want to wait for a bug fix on all this too.
I got iOS 5 finally after a lost week of less sleep and more frustration, only to run into an issue and ended up with the iPod (month old 4G) deciding I was getting a complete restore for some reason - and can't use for today.
I had one app I liked, got an update, and that was when I found that they had not tested to insure it would still work with iOS 4.3.5. It depends on Newstand, and would not sync or allow it to be moved, nothing at all under 4.3.5.
Found a couple others now too.
but can't know with 100% without a "clean" install of everything: iOS, iTunes, Windows also.

  • Usb sync ios 8

AAnyone finding this glitchy now. I still like using manual usb sync but since ios 8 it is hit and miss whether playlists copy over to the phone. Also the playcount for various songs in iTunes is rocketing with each sync. Some of my songs increased by several hundred plays. It's forced me to switch on match on my phone which I dont like as I only use this on my Apple TV. I prefer tight control of the music on my roaming device.

it it syncs ok first time and transfers music / playlists but subsequent attempts refuse to move new playlists and artists even if I check them under the iphone music tab in itunes. I tried restoring my iphone a couple times and same scenario repeats itself. are you not seeing playcount on some songs rocket with each sync? One track I had only listened to a few times rocketed from 5 playcount on iTunes to about 1000 plus after a few sync attempts. I am not really looking for a technical fix as the only thing that would sort it is a new point ios update but I wonder if others notice the same quirk especially the skyrocketing playcount on some songs. I like the historic playcount feature so it's frustrating that ios 8 is messing it up. I keep resetting the playcount on the offending tracks and having to spend time returning them to what they were

  • Firefox Sync iOS 7

Is there any internet browser app supporting the basic feature of Firefox Sync (reading and writing bookmarks) in iOS 7? 'Bookmarks' and '360' browser are read only, 'Mercury' claims to do it up to version 7.x but fails with any version up from 5 on my iPhone4 / iOS 7. I got Mercury syncing with Firefox Sync on my iPad I / iOS 5.1.1
Everything else seems to use third services to sync with Firefox Sync, but i want to sync straight to Firefox Sync.
    Thank you Achim

some more testing - Mercury 7.4 is obviously working with newly in Mercury created folders and bookmarks. They get synced to Firefox Sync and stuff i put into these folders on another computer are synced to the iPhone. So it seemes that Mercury is not able to read folders which are not created by itself? A permissions problem?

  • Can Ipad1(WIFI) originally support FaceTime at all? After sync IOS 5, the Face Time is no found either. Please kindly help.

I am using IPAD1 the WIFI one. I have not noticed if it supports Face Time funtion. After sync IOS5, I want to try Face Time with Iphone 4, but could not find out this funtion from my WIFI Ipad1. Please kindly help if the Ipad 1 is possible for Face Time. Appreciate if you could kindly give me a hand.

OMG, I thought it was a cam. But I recall, before sync the IOS 5, I did try face time with IPHONE4, but that time, I forgot how to get a new APPLE ID for the IPAD though. But in China, before the IPAD2 on market, the TV AD told the face time works with all IOS product. Also, I went to the retailer here, the sales person also told me that it can work as long as using WIFI connection. I confused.

  • How to set up wifi sync ios 5

    hey guys
I have Ios 5 and itunes 10.5 but how do you get it to sync wirelessly as in the sync setting it says it will sync when my mac is available, but its on with itunes open
has any one actually got it to work
    thanks

    Steps to get it working:
    1. Connect device with USB to iTunes
    2. Turn on Wifi sync in iTunes - in device Summary > Options page
    3. Make sure device is connected to power adapter - otherwise wifi sync does not work
    4. After some playing you probably want to turn it off again - it is even slower than the USB sync

  • Syncing iOS and macbook contacts?????

Is it asking too much to be able to have synced contacts?I know that Microsoft obviously has a vested interest in helping only Microsoft customers, but face it, Apple people use skype also, as problem laden as it is, it is still used. My main quandary...why is it so impossible to add a name and number in skype on my iphone?  Using a iphone 4s.  What I have tried to do is add contacts from my contact book in the phone but skype will only let me add "skype people'.  Why are you alienating non skype people?  I have a ridiculous subscription to be able to use the phone to call ANY number and unless I dial it in by hand I cannot reach them.  Then even if I dial it, I CANNOT go and and edit that same number to put a name in it.  I tried to add contacts on the macbook and hope that the contacts synced.  But lo and behold it DID NOT sync.  So much for progress. thanks in advance for your response.  Please, someone from Skype actually answer this!!!steve

Hi, hopefully I can help you out. First things first - make sure you're up to date. To get the latest Skype iOS client, you need to have at least iOS 7 installed on your device. When writing this, the latest public Skype iOS client is 5.14, you should try to update to this version if you haven't already. After logging in you should swipe to the "people" tab and you should see a dropdown saying either "all contacts", "Skype contacts" or "online contacts". To get your iPhone contacts to show up please select "all contacts" and then you should see them in the list and be able to place calls to them over Skype. Note that selecting this can prompt you to give Skype access to your address book. This should take care of your issue on iPhone. To get the same thing working on your Mac you should first make sure you have the same contacts you're interested in in your Mac Contacts application (synced over iCloud from iOS to Mac). From there again Skype can access them (you can enable this from Skype - Preferences - Show Mac Contacts). These contacts will show up in a separate contact group on Contacts page under Mac Contacts tab (as shown on the screenshot below) Hopefully this helps. -Rene---------- Skype for Mac

  • OS X Server - Notes Sync - iOS and Mac

Hi - I'm using OS X Server to sync notes, contacts, calendars and mail. When I add the account to my Mac, the notes application is empty. When the same account is added to an iPhone and an iPad, the notes application displays all of the my notes.
The iPhone and iPad remain in sync when changes are made, however
the same account on the Mac will not display any of the notes.
    The mailbox is working properly both in Apple Mail and iOS mail;
push works properly for Mail and Notes on iOS.
I've tried activating the same IMAP account on a different user profile on the same and different Macs, same result on all. I'm wondering if the Mac clients are attempting to connect to a different IMAP path.
What's really weird is this was all working properly last night. I started working on a note from my Mac, after having synced all of my other notes, but then noticed it had never synced over to my iphone. After trying to remove the account from my Mac, all of the notes disappeared. I've removed and re-added the account in iOS and it was able to sync back all of the previous notes.
Both the iPhone and iPad are running iOS 7; the Macs are all running OS X Mountain Lion (and ML Server).

    Brian,
Thanks for the suggestion. I played around my settings bfore I saw your reply.
I solve the issue this way. I had set up my client to connect to my server for mail, contact, calendar and notes by selecting Add another account/Add an OS X server account in the system preferences. Doing this, Notes would take forever to get a check mark. Re-opening the systems preference pane, there would be 2 accounts for my server, on for contacts and calendar, the other one for mail. Again, trying to turn on Notes would fail.
I deleted the this account (Mail, notes) and took a different path to add my erver mail account.
I went through Add other account/Add a mil account. Entered my server credentials and mail and notes set up without issues.
I tried to see if things were syncing between iOS and OS X. It worked both ways without issues.
I tried changing the setup dor authentification after this was working, and it did not seem to make a difference.

  • Strange Message When Trying to Sync iOS 4.1

Ever since updating to iOS 4.1 yesterday, I have been receiving the following message when trying to sync my iPhone 4 with my home PC: "The iPhone "Mike's iPhone" Cannot Be Synced; You Do Not have Sufficient Privileges For This Operation". This is my third iPhone and I have never received this message before; also, I am using the same PC (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit)that I have for the past 8 months, and have never before seen this message. I am the sole user and administrator on the PC; the strange thing is, my iPhone appears to be syncing ok. I Googled this and saw several responses related to deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" folder on my PC, which I did, but I still get the same error message. Any thoughts?

In which step the error is occuring.
The following steps will help you to configure synchronization -
    1.
    Connect
your device using Desktop Manager and click on Synchronization
    2.
    From the
menu on the left click Synchronization under Configuration
    3.
    Again
click Synchronization button on the right which will give you option to Select
Device Application that you want to synchronize
    4.
    Put the
check mark and you'll get a prompt to Select Desktop Application
    5.
    Highlight
the application name and click next button
    6.
    Under Synchronization
Option you get Direction of Synchronization
    7.
    Check
the radio button with Two way sync
    Note: above
mentioned steps are explained as per Desktop Manager 4.5
    Example:
    Synchronize Address Book –
    Connect you HH with
your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is set to wireless sync then you
need to turn off wireless synchronization. To do so go to Address Book
-> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No
-> click Menu and Save the changes.
    Click on the Synchronize
button on Desktop Manager -> Click on Configuration Tab then click on
Configure Synchronization -> Click on Choose under Address

  • IBooks app not refreshing shelf after sync ( iOS 8 )

On the prior version, iOS 7, I'd sync my ibooks with itunes. And with the iPad connected to the computer, I'd see the iBook appear on the shelf. With the new version I need not to just close the iBooks app, but to close it with double Home button click and kill the app.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply King_Penguin
Re your first point - 'Sync collections' was ticked in both the iPad and Mac versions of iBooks prior to these problems occurring.
Why have recently purchased or installed books been moved to iCloud and moved off my iPad and iMac when previously they were there in my iBooks library collections? They were books I'd read or were in the process of reading.
More confusing is that on my Mac in iBooks there are books that are fully downloaded and not in iCloud yet the same books in iBooks on the iPad are not downloaded and are in iCloud. After I sync this hasn't changed. To my mind this means that sync isn't working properly or that maybe iCloud has somehow been activated on one device and not on the other?
Why should I have to re-download books that were already present in my iBooks library on Mac and iPad prior to my upgrades to Yosemite, iOS 8 and the iBooks  apps?
I have to reiterate that I do not and will not use iCloud and for 2 reasons: it is not secure and Apple uses push marketing to make it difficult for you to not use it.

  • Notes sync ios 8.1.3

    Hi,
My Notes won't' sync between my Mac bookpro running on Maverick since I updated my iphone to ios 8.1.3 with icloud account.
Checked over and over can't find the solution.
    Thanks for helpful solutions!

You have to upgrade the OS on your computer in order to run the latest version of iTunes which supports your iPad.   Mac OS 10.5.8 is seven years old. You cant expect stuff to be supported forever

  • ITunes 11.1.3 doesnt sync iOS 7.0.4. pics

    Hi,
since updating to Maverick or iOs 7.0.4 I cannot sync my photo galleries via iTunes.  During the syncing photos are being ignored. When I click on the "Photo" section it just shows the turning circle. I tried a few things such as deleting the iPhone cache under user folder. Pics are still on the phone, unchanged.
    Regards,
    Bro

Thanks, I read the info, but it does not mention the IOS version.
Are you using yourself this combo of software?
Background: In The Netherlands I am getting the info on an Apple User group that there would be no iTunes Sync possiblity anymore with the intro of IOS7, which I cannot imagine, or at least don't hope so. They say that IOS7 does not have those sync possibilities anymore, so I would be forced to use iCloud.

  • IPhone 4 will not sync, iOS is 5.0.1, iTunes 10.5.1.  Have already completely uninstalled iTunes and rebooted both devices.

I've followed all the tutorials, deleted iTunes completely and it still won't sync after redownloading iTunes.
From what I've read nobody has an answer on this yet.  Any help appreciated.

I was just trying to get the phone to be recognized at all by iTunes.  iTunes wasn't recognizing the device at all.  What I was trying to sync was irrelevant.
I talked to Apple support and they weren't sure, but had me just plug and unplug it a bunch of times and eventually it catches on.  It's probably a bug that we'll have to wait for the next version of iTunes or iOS to fix.
