Syncing iPad to Outlook Contacts on my PC

I have decided not to use the iCloud for syncing because my contacts list has too much private data. I know iCloud is supposedly a secrure site, but I don't trust that much personal info of my friends and family on the Internet. So I am using iTunes to sync my calendar and my contacts to my iPad. (1st generation iPad recently updated to iOS 5.0.1)
The calendar syncing is going really well. No problems there. But the syncing of Contacts is presenting me a problem in regards to "groups" on the iPad and "Categories" in Outlook. I have a lot of categories set up in Outlook that I rely on to manage my contact list. This seems to not translate to the "groups" on my iPad contact list. Can I reconcile these two tools? What's the best approach for me to use?
Thanks in advance for any/all replies and help!

How can I sync iPad with Outlook?

Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes. Look under 'info' and you may need to scroll down. The option will be there to sync your outlook calendar (or more) with the iPad. Choose what you want and sync to 'save' the settings.

  • Cannot sync ipad with Outlook 2010 contacts. help

I called techsupport when I was unable to sync my Outlook 2010 contacts with my Ipad2. The techie told me I could only sync from earlier versions of Outlook (seems kinda dumb).  She said I could sync from my gmail contacts but when I tried this gmail told me "25% of the content in your content will change on your computer". Ideas?

    The iPad manual says :
You can sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Yahoo! Address Book, and Google Contacts on a Mac, or with Yahoo! Address Book, Google Contacts, Windows Address Book (Microsoft Outlook Express), Windows Vista Contacts, or Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with only one application at a time.)
So you should be able to sync contacts from Outlook 2010.  I don't think Outlook 2010 was supported on the original iPad until iOS 4.2+ was installed, but the iOS on the iPad 2 has (I think) always been high enough.
What happens when you try ?

  • Syncing iPad to Outlook

I sync my iPhone to Outlook everyday and backup.  I have not synced backed up my iPad in a long time.  If I sync iPad now will Outlook take precedence over iPad and update my iPad or will iPad take precedence and I will lose all my Outlook contacts, etc.

  • I've got Blackberry Link installed, but I can't get my BB to sync with my Outlook contacts

I've got Outlook 2010 installed on my laptop.
Blackberry link appears to have installed properly.
When I try to sync my Q5 with Outlook I don't get any error messages, but after the process is completed I check Outlook and none of the contacts have sync'd from my phone to Outlook (but it has successfully sync'd the existing contacts from Outlook to my phone).
Edit: should probably mention that my email address is a gmail account, and most of the contacts in my BB are being pulled from my gmail contacts.  Does that make a difference?

  • How do U SYNC iPhone 2 Outlook Contacts (S P E C I F I C   F O L D E R.pst)

Yeah you can sync your iPhone to Outlook! But I don't want 14,000 outlook contacts on my iphone. I want to create a separate "outlook.pst" folder to sync to. Is this possible or impossible?

I think you can copy contacts you need to new pst and create new outlook profile that will be used for sync with this pst as default contacts storage and choose this profile when sync. The main drawback of this solution is to impossible to work with main outlook profile when sync that outlook can use only one profile in a time. This can be solved by starting outlook or itunes from another os user.
Other way - to use 3d party software or services for sync contacts, much services have functions to sync selected groups of contacts then you can create special group and add contacts you need to sync in it.

  • Is there any way to sync my pc outlook contacts and calender with my mac

is there any way to sync my work pc outlook contacts and calender with my personal mac air

Sure. Install the latest version of iTunes on your PC, and just connect your iPod Touch to it, decline the prompt to autosync (the warning about losing your music), then go into the info tab, select sync contacts, and click apply. Your contacts will be transferred (both directions, i.e. the outlook contacts and your IPT contacts will be merged and the combined set will be present on both lists).
    Hope this helps...

  • Sync with specific outlook contact data

I've notice awhen i try to sync Ovi contact with outlook contact it takes the default contacts data but my phone contact data has been created on a seperate contact data from my miling contact data.
This can be selected with PC suite but How do we choose specific contact data to sync with in Ovi?

    Hi,
Please briefly explain your query so it will be easy for us to help you.
What type of email account do you use currently in Outlook (POP, IMAP, MAPI or Exchange)?
By "sync my outlook data with office365 outlook", do you mean migrate your existing email data into your new Office 365 email?
If this is the case, you can actually use the Import/Export feature in a desktop version of Outlook. It's just a two-step process:
If you're using Outlook 2010, click File>Options>Advanced>Export, there you can export your data.
After you export your data, then you can import it into your Office 365 email.

    Hope it helps.

  • How can i sync 2 separate outlook contacts (2 different accounts but same contacts) on to my iphone?

I have a work iphone which has my work outlook account synced on it (Email, calendar and contacts). I have the same itunes account setup at home and at work and that works fine. However, at home i have a separate outlook account but the contacts between the work and home outllok are the same. Is there anyway that i can sync them via the iphone automatically. Any other solution that doesnt involve the cloud would be preferable. Many thanks!

Ok in a round about way I got my wife's phone to to sync with the bookmarks at least once. I set up iCloud on my PC laptop and installed Safari. Then I logged it on to my iCloud account which imported all the bookmarks over. Then, still on the PC, I switched over the iCloud to my wife's account and presto her phone had all the bookmarks. Now this probably means her bookmarks are only synched with the PC (which is okay because she spends more time on it anyway. I'm always hoging the IMac) and the iMac and the PC are not synched together.
I'm still haveing a problem with my calander syncing with the iMac. My reminders show up but if I add an event to a particular day from my phone it does not. This even applies when I log onto iCloud.com. However, if I add an event on the iMac it does show up on my phone. All the settings are turned on on all three devices. I've tried turning them on and off. I just don't get it because it was working fine.
Contacts seem to be syncing for both of us.... sort of. Any contacts we add on our phone syncs to the Mac but it is doubling up on people we both have.

  • I sync'd my Outlook contacts to iCloud and now they're gone from my Outlook contace how do I get them back or use them from iCloud

I've attempted to send an email from my [email protected] but it won't recognize the group because somewhere as it was syncing it dropped all the members out of the group and I no longer have any of my contacts in my Outlook address book.  How do I get these contacts back into my Outlook address book without individually re-entering them?

I think i did the same thing. I just got a new MacBook Air and when it synced with iCloud I had doubles of all my contacts. Now I'm missing most of my contacts as well.... Someone please help with a solution to this mistake....

  • Syncing iPad with Google Contacts

I have my iPad syncing to Google contacts, which works fine. But I went into Contacts on my iPad and added pictures to a lot of my contacts. When I synced my iPad, most of them disappeared. How do I prevent this from happening?

Thanks Meg, this works, at least in part.  Now the Contacts app populated, but only with 99 contacts, hardly all of them.  Do you know how to get all my Google contacts to sync?
Also, should I delete the Gmail account I had previously set up on the iPad now that I have set up as an Exchange account?

  • Sync Q10 to Outlook Contacts & Calendar - Clicking on "Configure" Causes Windows to Shut Down Blackberry Link

I'm trying to sync my contacts and calendar from my Q10 to Outlook on my PC.  I have downloaded Blackberry Link and connect my Q10 via USB.  When I ran the sync it set up a new contact group on my BB in the name of my PC but doesn't copy the contacts from my BB to my PC.  I now have three contact groups on my BB (work, gmail, & now PC).
On the Calender/Contacts sync screen, under Settings, there's a "Configure" link beside both Contacts and Calander.  Saw a Youtube video that says this is where to go to set the sync to two way but every time I click on this link a Windows box pops up saying BlackBerry Link has stopped working and it needs to close.  I've deleted and uploaded Blackberry Link several tiems but it still hapens.
I have explored the solution from www.bb10outlooksync.com but there are indications that this may wipe out the contact data on the Q10 on the initial sync so not comfortable running this yet.  Having an equally difficult time trying to figure out how to backup the contacts on my Q10.
I also don't want to send my contacts to a website so looking for a USB solution.  Can anyone help with this?

I am not sure but this might help:
