Syncing iPad to windows computer to get music

I have had an iPod that I was always able to sync to my iTunes on my windows computer. I recently got an iPad an I was wanting to put the music I had on my old computer to the iPad but when I plug my iPad into my computer it does not pull it up on th iTunes area for a device? What do I need to do?

Is your iPad recognized by iTunes when connected - is it available under devices in the iTunes source list as with your iPod when connected?

I suggest you simply copy your entire User folder from old computer to new computer. This way all your data (Music, photos, contacts, emails, calendars, documents, etc.) goes across.

Eject the iPad, quit iTunes, restart the Mac and reset the iPad and try again. Use another USB port on the Mac if you have a free one to use.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up.

Can't Sync Ipad 2 with Computer b/c Itunes 11.1 installation fails

Hello! I have a question in regards to my ipad 2 and syncing it to my computer. I recently installed IOS 7 onto my Ipad 2, but when I went to sync it with my computer, Itunes gave me an error saying that I needed to download and install itunes 11.1 for compatibility reasons with IOS 7. So, I was able to successfully download the new versions of itunes directly from the itunes website, but the issue came when the installation process began. The installation ran and had finished in a short amount of time and then I received this message:
"Errors occured during the installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click finish to exit the installer."
So I went ahead and downloaded the software multiple times (5 times) and attempted to install it multiple times and I constantly receive the same error that is displayed above. If anyone has any clue on how to fix this I'd GREATLY appreciate anyone's suggestions. I generally can fix these problems myself but this problem seems to be persistent and many other people are having similar issues.

I have to say this would only happen on a windows PC,   Why it doesn't prompt you to close all windows baffle me still!
The install gets hung up because of an open window.   You must close all windows before installation.
Open downloads and delete the downloads you did so far.
To get the install back on track:
Scary, but it will be the cleanest install. Uninstall iTunes using the control center. Directions can be found here:

What computer did yu last sync with? Yu can only sync with one computer/iTunes library.
You can however manage musiic amon different computers.

If you need more help please provide more detail on what youd have done and tried on both computers.

How to sync iPad to new computer/macbook maintaining game data

my wife is using an iPad (1)
Sofar she has synchronized with iTunes on a windows machine.
Right now I want to move to iTunes on a new macbook.
I have synced on the old (windows) computer.
I have 'transferred purchases' on the new macbook.
(Apple id's are the same)
All apps are now on the iPad and the macbook.
Now we need to sync the iPad and iTunes on the macbook.
Question: what will happen with all game data.
Apparantly all apps (250 games!) will be removed and replaced from /on the iPad.
But what will happen to to game data/status?
Will all the work in (e.g.) the 'Smurf city' be wiped out?
Is the a way to keep/remain/save the game data?

You want to restore from the backup in order to restore the app data and game saves.
I have posted this a number of times. You have done some of this already, but this is a "start from scratch" list ofinstructions for syncing with a new computer. Anything that does not apply - like transferring music or photos at the end - just ignore.
1. Authorize the computer.
2. Turn off auto sync in iTunes
3. Transfer purchases
4. Backup the iPad

1) Without connecting your iPad to your new computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your computer and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your computer, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your computer. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

One final note - you may want to leave auto sync turned off - but that is totally up to you. I never did use auto sync.

Can't sync iPad to windows xp on hp, HELP!!!

This may be long and I apologize. I am new to all iPod, iPad products. Ihave an hp with windowsxp for home use. I downloaded iTunes to my pc, then connected the iPad to my computer. Nothing happened. When I go into iTunes I can find sync iPod, but it is not in active mode,so I can not do anything. I have deleted Itunes and re-downloaded it and still have nothing happening. I can use iTunes on my pc and on my iPad,but just can't sync them. I want to transfer my music from my pc. HELP!!!

What's not showing up? The iPad or the File>Transfer Purchases part? If you can't see the iPad and you are running iTunes 11 you can go to View>Show Sidebar in the iTunes menu in order to see the sidebar and your iPad should appear under the devices heading there.
You can right click on the iPad name and select Transfer Purchases from there as well. Or in iTunes 11 you can go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases from the menu at the top of the screen.

ITunes randomly unable to sync iPad, says my computer isn't authorized.

I'm completely stumped by this one. I have an iPad (3, I think) jailbroken with 6.1.2. I'm the only one that uses the iPad and the computer it syncs with, so it shouldn't be a multi-Apple ID issue. I have been using a iTunes 11.1 beta since it came out and my iPad has been syncing just fine. I upgraded to the official iTunes 11.1 when it was released, tried to sync my iPad the next day, and started getting an error saying that my computer wasn't authorized. It seems to happen when it gets to "syncing apps" during the process.
I don't know what could've caused this, and I doubt upgrading iTunes is to blame. Regardless, I tried authorizing, de-authorizing and re-authorizing, de-authorizing ALL from my iTunes settings, erasing the /Users/Shared/SC Info as advised from the apple support site, and rebooting my iPad and macbook tons of times.
I'm also syncing a lot of the same content to an iPhone 5 without any problems... any idea what the problem is?

The computer is new and I guess this is more of a computer than an iPhone problem, isn't it?

When completed I connected my iPad, iTunes indicates that I have synced with a different library and is going to delete all of the apps installed on the iPad. You may have to redownload them. Don't worry, you won't be charged again for anything you've already purchased, but make absolutely certain you are using the exact same ID, etc. Have you backed up your iPad previously? If you have you can restore from a backup and your Apps should be there......

Sync iPad with another computer?

I've installed lots of apps on one computer, but I have some music, movies and other apps on another laptop that I want to sync onto the iPad. I do NOT want to replace everything already on the iPad with the second laptop's library, I want to ADD them to the iPad.

Make sure that you are logged into your iTunes account on the computer. Also go to the Store menu and make sure the computer is authorized. This must be the same account you were already using for the iPad.
Now try to transfer purchases again. The apps really should sync with iTunes, but never having done this myself, I could easily be wrong.
