Syncing iPhone 4S to a an iTunes library that doesn't have my nonpurchased on it

Hi. My computer that had my iTunes on it died, so I downloaded iTunes on to my laptop. The new iTunes on my PC Windows 7 laptop  has all of my purchased songs on it through my iTunes Store account . Will I be able to sync my phone to my laptop without loosing all of my playlists and nonpurchased songs that are on my phone and not on my laptop?

Hello there ejgj2150,
I was looking into our documentation about how we might be able to transfer the non purchased items from the iPhone to the computer. I was looking at this article Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202, I noticed this on the bottom.
iPod shuffle and iPhone are intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle and iPhone like you can with other devices.
So the answer to your question is no, theres not an Apple supported way of getting the non purchased items from the phone to the computer. If you have the CDs that the content came from you can re import them to iTunes using iTunes 10 for Windows: Import songs from CDs. It says iTunes 10, but is still relevant for iTunes 11, you can find it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ph1607.
All the best,
Sterling

    Hello
Ihope you can help me with this doubt
If I modified a file of my itunes librery that I already have in macth the information in match will updated?

Yes the information about a Song if changed will update in iTunes Match, however, the service does not share all information with IOS devices - on occassion if viewing via an IOS device you may experience delays for some information and apparent gaps for other information.

  • I recently bought the ipad 2, and before I could sync it to itunes, my pc died. i have so much music in my itunes library that i now have no way to access. Is there a way to get access to my library other than my pc?

I just recently got the ipad2, but before I had a chance to sync it to itunes, my pc died. I'm pretty new to all of this, so I don't know if there's any way to get access to my itunes library. There is a ton of songs there, most of which I exported from files that were on my pc, so not all of it was purchased through itunes. Does anyone know of a way to get access the itunes library without syncing your device? I'm clueless...

OMG...I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Since my computer is a goner, I don't have any other way to access all that music.

  • Will I lose my ipod playlists from former itunes library (included purchased songs and personal cd's I burned) if I sync up to my new itunes library that DOES NOT have any of my personal song cd's?

Afraid if I sync my ipod to itunes library, I'll loose my existing playlists that have my personal cd's burned into it.  Thanks.

  • Having trouble syncing my classic with an exsisting itunes library that i would like to add to

I have a classic and itouch, i would like to load my classic but can't, my itunes used to be able to sync both, now i can only sync my itouch and can't access my classic thru itunes.  any help would be grateful.

Did you recently upgrade your computer's operating system, or perhaps reload it?  Either way, you are going to want to copy everything on your iPod to your iTunes library first (unless it's all still there) and then go ahead and choose the Erase and Sync option.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • HT1386 iPhone won't sync with iTunes. It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do

iPhone won't sync with iTunes and It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do. I tried everything!
I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

  • I want to be able to sync my iPhone 5 to my new iTunes library (new computer) and erase old music. When I connect my iPhone I have no option to "erase and sync."

So I have the iPhone 5. My old computer crashed so I ended up purchasing a new computer and re-installing and downloading all my old music and new music.
When I connect my iPhone to my new computer I can sync music but the old music still remains on my iPhone as well as the new music.
There's a lot on the phone that I don't want anymore but I can't seem to figure out how to erase it.
I don't want to restore the iPhone so I don't lose all my old messages and so forth.
I have all of the latest updates for the iPhone and well as iTunes.
If anyone has any answers to help that would be awesome!
    Thanks.

    Hey there,
It sounds like you are not getting the prompt to erase and sync your device. This indicates to me that Manual Syncing was enabled on the original iTunes Library, and becuase of that it is also now enabled on your new computer.
This is changable in the Summary tab of iTunes when you have your device selected, and this article will help you do that:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
Configure iPhone, iPad, or iPod for manual management
To manually manage the content, follow these instructions:
Connect the device to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If your device isn't visible in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Library.
Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
    Click Apply.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

    - i updated my iphone 4 software on my other itunes library that is on my other user account on my laptop. my ringtones are not on my phone now but i see them in my library, but my phone is not synced to that library. how can i get my ringtones back without having to sync my phone to the library where my ringtones are and possibly lose everything on my phone ?

From my post on what seems like the same issue (found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21087892#21087892)
    Take the following steps:
    1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
    2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I sync multiple iPods to the same iTunes Library?

How can I sync multiple iPods to the same iTunes Library?

The same way you sync just one. If y want different media on each iPod then only select the items you want synced to each iPod
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Also, I would go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says prevent iPods... for syncing automatically so that you can more easily check what you want syned

  • Hi, just updated hubby's iPhone 4 and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! He does have music still stored on his iPod, but can't get it from the library on his iPod back to phone or itunes. technophobe help pls!

and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! Luckily he does have music still stored on his iPod, but I can't get it from the library on his iPod back to the phone or to itunes. Please help, but technophobe so put it in simple english please!

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

  • Transferring iPhone apps to a different iTunes library

    Hello!
I accidentally purchased two apps from within an iTunes Library that isn't the one I use to sync my iPhone 3G. I moved the .ipa files from the Mobile Applications folder of the incorrect Library to that folder in the proper iTunes Library, but the apps do not appear in my App listing in the proper iTunes Library.
How can I get these two apps to be recognized by my main iTunes Library?
If I download them again to the proper iTunes Library (from the same iTunes account), will I be charged again for them?
    Thanks!

  • I can't enable Home Sharing in both PC, iPhone 4S and IPad 2. i enabled them but my IPhone couldn't find my iTunes Library in my PC

I can't enable Home Sharing in both PC, iPhone 4S and IPad 2. i enabled them but my IPhone couldn't find my iTunes Library in my PC

    The iPhone 5 requirements are:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
So, upgrade your MacBook system to Snow Leopard OS 10.6.x Then you can sync both devices.

ios 7 synced songs from my itunes library that I didnt want on my phone and I don't know how to delete them. On my phone, next to each of those songs, theres a cloud with an arrow going through it. How do I delete those songs? I can't delete the songs from my computer because they aren't in a specific playlist, they just got randomly added to my songs on my phone.

I just found out that I am having the same problem!! It is driving me nuts. Now I know why I am running out of space on my iPhone. It's ghosting the others songs, until you see them when you go to sync. Hopefully, someone has an answer. I have gone through every HELP subject and discussion board I could find on the situation.
