Syncing iPhone (iOS 5) doesn't work for contacts anymore

I don't want to use iCloud but I would like to be able to sync my contacts with my laptop and iOS 5 only allows syncing of contacts with iCloud. Any suggestions how to make sure I don't lose my contacts? I already lost them once today on my iPhone. When i decided not to use iCloud it deleted all of my local contacts and thankfully I had a backup on my laptop and the "replace function from iTunes" worked to at least import them back to the phone.
But then any new contact created on the iPhone or my Macbook does not wat to sync either way (neither Wi-Fi or USB work). My local calendars sync just fine.
This is probably a bug but if anyone came across a solution please let me know.

iOS 5 should have compatibility with docking stations... you may try doing a restore, or, as a last resort getting a replacement.

I have it enabled on my Mac... But it doesn't work... I actually have to plug it into the computer for it to work.
I thought the point of iOS 5 was to be able to "cut the cord"!!!!!!!!!

Have you enabled it on the iPhone/iPod Touch and iTunes
Once you have done this you need to ensure they are on the same WIFI network, If you have less than 50% power on the device then plug it into the mains.
You can then force the first sync in the settings>general>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync menu

WiFi Sync with iOS 5 doesn't work with Airport Express used as a wifi extender?

So in our apartment we have an Airport base station that doesn't reach all the way to the bedrooms, so we use an Airport Express as a wifi extender/repeater. The Wifi sync doesn't work when connected to the Airport Express. My iPhone and iTunes can't find each other. But if I'm sitting next to the base station it works just fine. Is there a workaround for this to get wifi sync working in my bedroom? I've updated both Airports to the latest firmware versions.

Well, never mind. It magically started working.

Solo doesn't work for me anymore

I have 15 clips overlaying each other in the timeline with an audio MP3 in the main storyline position. When I solo one of the clips, it shows me the very top clip in the viewer even though it has been turned off when I soloed.
Anyone else getting this?
When I press V on clips, they do turn off, though. It's just the solo feature that isnt' working for me.

Oh, I thought soloing video clips would turn off all the other clips and show you only that clip. The UI dims all the other video clips as I would expect, but it shows me the top one in the layers.

Sync iPhone with Bluetooth doesn't work with me.

I have try to sync my bluetooth with my computer, and I just can make it work, I know I have to turn on my iphone's bluetooth and have it discoverable, I have done that and still not working, my macbook founds it but if I try to send something it said that the devicer is not connected, while my iphone still just searching for bluetooth devicers or compu, phone, etc.
How do I fix this?

It is not supposed to work. Syncing via bluetooth is not a supported feature, you have to use a USB cable. (you really wouldn't want to wait for bluetooth anyway, it is horribly slow for transferring multi-gigs of data)

Simultaneous app downloads iphone ios 6 doesn't work

I have a iphone 4S with IOS 6.1.2 and recently noticed that when updating apps from the app store they don't download simultaneous even if its below the 20 mb mark.
Has anyone noticed the same behavior on there iphone or Ipad.
Any suggestions??

Basically if it says Waiting, it means something else is downloading at the time. Again Downloads are sequential.
I've had several instances of having 4 or 5 apps finish downloading, before the first one has finished installing, which means i'll get the progress bars about halfway full on more than one App, and once the slow one finishes installing the nextone in line will start to install while the others keep waitign, sometimes its fast other times it takes a while, it depends on the App, and the update entirely.
Its also entirely possible sometihng else is downloading at the time. Like a Podcast, or music or anything, and again it will be sequential. You may not see the other thing being downloaded in another App but it will cause The Apps that came after it to wait for their turn to download.

Using Seagate Wireless hard drive with iPad or iPhone iOS 8 doesn't work

We purchased a Seagate wireless hard drive a little less than a year ago to store all of our movies that we buy on iTunes since the iPad storage capacity is not very large. For the past year the drive worked great esp when traveling. However, on our most recent trip it stopped working. When I click on the movie I get an error message. When I contacted Seagate they said it had to do with Apple's new DRM rules. I purchase the digital movies to be able to watch anywhere, but now I can't. Why is Apple making it harder for people to enjoy the media they purchase? This is ridiculous. Does anyone know of a workaround? I have tried third party apps but they don't work well either.

IPhoto doesn't work for me anymore!

I have just upgraded one of the most recent versions of iPhoto (from an iLife cd) and I have this error.."The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto" ...so I click 'Upgrade'.. but then I get a final error message telling me there is a problem accessing one or more files in your 'iPhoto library folder' and then only have the one button option.. 'quit'. I have made sure that my iPhoto library folder has read and write permissions as it suggests). However, this doesn't fix it.
Has anyone had the same problem?

BT Openzone doesn't work for me anymore

BT Openzone used to work fine but now when I'm on my travels it never does. I've tried it in various places (iPod Touch 4th generation).
Sometimes the screen says I'm connected to the other BT customer's router but I still can't go to anything on the net.
Other times it keeps on trying to connect but never does.
It's a pity because BT's many wi fi spots is the best thing about BT Broadband. If I can't get it to work I might as well quit to somewhere better and cheaper.

I take it you are using the http://www.speedtester.bt.com one and not the one on the BT Help Website. If this is the case then you will need to contact your ISP for support because the first link is one for all ISP's on BT Wholesale's network and they have to look after your service, this is BT Retail which is completely separate of BT Wholesale.

Hotmail doesn't work for me anymore

For some reason I can't open Hotmail anymore.

After almost one week without being able to view my hotmail, I figured out the problem.
I noticed the date of the first unread message I couldn't open and saw that it was the same day I installed the latest vDownloader... I uninstalled it and now everything is back to normal.
If you are having problems check whether you installed any new software recently.

download the new you tube apps in i tunes, in os6 just pick a video in the photos apps and select share, the old you tube app icon will appear

Which apps remain compatible will be up to the individual developers who sell those apps. There will be no further iOS updates, but those aren't really necessary to continue to use and enjoy your device. I still have an iPad 1 running on iOS 5, and it is fully functional.
The App Store has an app called VintApps 3.1.1 that is specifically geared toward iOS 3.1, however, you would probably be able to run most of those apps on your iPod, and considering that there will be a rather large market for iOS 6 apps users, it is not likely that you will see a significant reduction in choices any time soon.
It is not the end for the device in any sense except that it is at it's ultimate iOS level. And again, I have an iPad that is at it's ultimate iOS level (iOS 5), and I get new apps all the time that work for both my iPad and my iPhone that runs iOS 6.1.1
