Syncing iphone to a new mac computer

my old computer was discarded before i could deauthorize my iphone from it so my new mac wont allow me to sync my songs from my iphone 4...what do i do now??

Music is not synced, music is transferred or copied.
Not de-authorizing your old computer has nothing to do with this - not unless you have authorized 5 computers and the most recent old computer was the 5th authorized computer.
In regards to iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer, iTunes content and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. This can be avoided with iTunes content by transferring your entire iTunes library from the old to the new computer.
Since you didn't do this and the old computer is no longer available, iTunes incudes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • Syncing iphone on a new Mac

    Now I'm really upset..
I recently bought a new MBP, and upone connecting my iphone Itunes comes up saying "there are app on your iphone which are not present here blablabla, do you you want to transfer these app to itunes library? If you don't transfer they will be deleted from your iphone"
Guess what, you choose "yes, transfer", and STILL it deletes apps from my iphone, which I REGULARLY downloaded from the Apple store!! (please assume some bad language here).
    Note that:
1)I use same account on both Itunes (old & new mac)and authorized new one for purchasing from Apple Store.
    2) I don't use the old mac that much now, but still I cannot understand WHY I can't sync my iphone with both computers.
    3) The f.. itunes deleted 47 apps out of 50, saying that I'm not authorized to play them (play them?) on the new mac. Why? WHY??
I could understand if I want to sync different iphones installing apps from one computer, but since nobody (supposely) plays iphone apps on itunes, why I cannot sync them on different computers??
AND, ABOVE ALL, WHY IT DELETES THEM FROM MY IPHONE WITHOUT EVEN ASKING??????????

You should have read the "blablabla" part of the warning message. To transfer apps on your iPhone to your new Mac, right-click your device on the iTunes sidebar and click "Transfer Purchases" before your first sync. Be sure to disable automatic syncing first.
This doesn't work for me. I read the "blablabla" part and it says: "if you choose not to transfer, those apps will be deleted".
What it DOES NOT say, is that if that mac is not the one authorized for syncing, those apps will be deleted anyway, as a matter of fact it does, and without even asking or telling anything. This is a totally unacceptable and non legal behaviour of itunes.
And still I have the problem I can't deauthorize the other mac. <Edited by Host>
    Best regards.

  • How to sync iPhone 4s to new Mac without losing apps on iPhone 4s.

I previously had an iPhone 4 and 3Gs at the same time, but since then have sold them. Now when I try to sync my apps to iTunes it says that I can't unless I revert my apps to a previous setting that was used for either my iPhone 3gs or iPhone 4 and my other apps will be deleted.. I only use this computer now, but used to use another computer that was a pc. It is quite unstable so it wouldnt' be very easy to get on it grab my old files that I'm sure aren't complete anyways. All I need to do is take everything from this iPhone and back it up on my Macbook Pro. Thanks.

  • Sync iPhone 4 with new Mac installation

I've just replaced the hard drive in my MacBook Pro with a fresh new OS 10.6.8 installation.  The old drive is still accessible via a USB external case.
I did not use Migration Assistant, as I didn't want to inherit any mess from the old system, and MA's options seem extremely unrefined - most checkboxes are very non-explicit about what it will migrate.
I have transferred all music, book and app files to the new iTunes from the old.  My new iTunes is logged into the same iTunes account as the old.
I've manually set up Apple Mail, but my Address Book is currently waiting for contacts, and iCal is also empty, which I presumed I could sync directly from my iPhone.
But I would like to re-sync my iPhone 4 with the new iTunes WITHOUT erasing the phone.  I have many hours worth of user configuration data within my many apps - favourites in GPS apps, saved game settings, documents in reader apps etc.
From everything I've read, this seems impossible!  The new iTunes installation insists on erasing the phone.  SURELY this can't be true.  How do I store my phone in it's current form and retain all current data and settings?
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences>Devices in itunes.
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, DO NOT SYNC at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

  • How do I sync iPhone to a new computer

I've just lost my old mac and will upgrade to a new model. How can I sync iPhone to the new mac? I made the iTunes backup. What other steps should i take to avoid losing my info and settings? Please help

You won't lose any of your iPhone settings when syncing your iPhone with a new computer. When doing so, iTunes on the new computer will create a backup of your iPhone where your iPhone settings are stored.
In addition to an iTunes backup, did you also create a backup of photos that were stored on your old Mac along with contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks?
Before syncing your iPhone, you need to transfer your iTunes library from your old Mac to your new. Then authorize your new Mac with iTunes with your iTunes account. Did you de-authorize your old Mac with iTunes? You can have up to 5 computers authorized with the same iTunes account.
Also before syncing, enter one contact in the Address Book, and one calendar events in iCal on your new Mac. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later after the first sync. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data, which you want to select - especially if you don't have a backup of contact information and calendar events from your old Mac.
If you use iPhoto for transferring photos from your computer to your iPhone, you need to transfer your iPhoto library from your old Mac to your new or any photos that were transferred from your old Mac to your iPhone will be lost when transferring photos to your iPhone from your new Mac.

  • I recently purchased a new mac computer and would like to sync the music off my iPhone to my new mac. However, my phone and my new mac have different apple Ids.The PC which my phone is synced and has the same apple ID but does not let me transfer the music

Hi I recently purchased a new mac computer and would like to sync the music off my iPhone to my new mac. However, my phone and my new mac have different apple Ids.The PC which my phone is synced and has the same apple ID but does not let me transfer the music. Home sharing is not working. How do I successfully transfer and sync the music off my ipone 4 to my mac book pro if they have different Apple IDs? Thanks!

What do you mean the PC won't let you transfer the music? Save your entire iTunes folder (this is assuming that you have all your music stored in your iTunes folder) to an external hard drive. Connect that hard drive to your Mac. Copy the iTunes folder to your computer. Hold down the option key while launching iTunes on your Mac. Select the library you just copied when it ask you to select which library you want to open.

If you see Devices in the big list on the left-hand side of iTunes, it should show the name of your iPhone right below it. You can right-click (or hold ctrl and left click) on the name of the iPhone there, and choose "transfer purchases from iPhone".
If you're on iTunes 11, you won't see the big list of the left until you go to the View menu at the very top (where you see iTunes/File/Edit/View/etc) and choose Show Sidebar. Then do the same thing: right-click or ctrl and left-click on the iPhone's name below Devices and "transfer purchases from iPhone".
It'll ask you to authorize the computer for your Apple ID if you haven't yet; to do that, you just type your Apple ID and password in when it asks. If it says you are not authorized but doesn't automatically give you an option to do so, then you can go to the Store menu at the very top and choose "authorize this computer".

bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?

You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

i have a new mac computer but i can sync my iPhone because clean all my application, what can i do???

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How can i sync my iTunes library from my iPhone with my new mac mini

Recently my hard drive failed on my mac mini.  I had burned a bunch of CDs on the old mac mini and then sync'd it with my iphone.  Now the CDs are on my iphone but not on the new mac mini.  How can I sync my itunes library from my iphone to my new mac mini?

The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from the backup copy of your computer computer to your new one.

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
-> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

I have just synced my work iphone to my new mac and have lost photos, work email etc I am being asked for a password for mu iphone backup, however cannot remember this and cannot seem to get a hint - can anyone help please. I had not previously synced this phone with another computer

    Hi Bob
Thanks for the input.  Interesting that it ran on my computer for a
while (about 2 days) before it first started bleating.  I suppose if I
had to upgrade, it would be to the Mac version.  Everything else I
have tried on Parallels works, even Steinberg's Wavelab, which I
    thought would be an impossibility.
I shall persevere.  I am just appalled at the level of support that
Adobe provides, plus the fact that their website just plain doesn't
    work.

  • How do I sync my iphone to a new mac without loosing the original data

How do I sync my iphone to a new mac without loosing the app data?

You must first sync the iPhone with the old Mac as you normally do, then move the entire iTunes Library from the old Mac to the new one.
An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.
