Syncing iPhone With Outlook Calendar

Hello all,
I've been using my iPhone 4 (latest firmware - 4.3.3) and syncing contacts, calendars & notes with Outlook 2003 in Windows Vista for some time now & all has worked fine. I also Outlook to access my Hotmail e-mail.
I've recently re-installed with Windows 7 (32bit) and upgraded Office to 2010 as well. I'm again using Outlook to access Hotmail. With the latest version of the Outlook Connector, it now also accesses my Hotmail contacts in Outlook, which it didn't do before & defaults to using my Hotmail calendar rather than the local one in Outlook alone.
After some tidying up, I've sorted all my contacts so that what's on Outlook (and synced to my iPhone) is the same as what's in Hotmail. This seems to be syncing back & forth quite happily between the phone & Outlook via iTunes.
With the calendar, due to Outlook now using the Hotmail calendar, I've had to re-enter all my entries in "Adam's Calendar" (i.e. the Hotmail one) in Outlook, whereas before they were on the local calendar. Having done this, they sync across to Hotmail online and sync onto the iPhone. Entries made via Hotmail online also appear on Outlook and so sync to the phone.
The problem comes the other way. If I make an entry in my calendar on the phone, it won't sync to Outlook. Likewise, if I use the phone to edit an entry that was synced over from Outlook then the changes don't sync back. The only calendar I have displayed on the iPhone from the available list is "Adam's Calendar". I've tried forcing iTunes to only sync that one by de-selecting "All calendars" and only selecting "Adam's calendar" from the available list (consisting of that entry and "Calendar"). So, there should be no reason for "Adam's Calendar" on the phone to be syncing to any other calendar on the computer. Still no joy...
Anybody got any ideas why this isn't working and what might fix it??
TIA,
Adam.

Folks, in case it helps anyone else, I've found a solution!
Set up the iPhone to connect to the Exhange server for Hotmail, then sleect which (of e-mail, contacts & calendar) you want to connect to.
Go into Settings-->Mail, Contacts, Calendars-->Add Account...
Select a MS Exchange account
Enter your details:
Email: [email protected]
Domain: [Leave blank]
Username: [email protected]
Password: password
Click 'Next'
A new field for 'Server' will appear. Enter m.hotmail.com
Continue through and you will be able to set on/off your hotmail e-mail, contacts and/or calendar to connect to the phone. In my case, I just went with the calendar as I use mBoxMail for e-mail so it's all nicely structured in folders and figure it's easier (and won't eat my phone's bandwidth) to just sync my contacts to Outlook through a cable and Outlook then sync to Hotmail over my broadband connection.
Now, any entry made on my phone flies through the airwaves to Hotmail and in turn up the broadband cable to Outlook. Likewise, any entry made in either of the other two makes the same journey.
Hope that helps anyone else in a similar position.
Adam.

  • Syncing iPhone with Outlook 2007 after hard drive crash.

I recently had a hard drive crash.  We were able to retrieve the .pst files for Outlook 2007 and I sync my iPhone with Outlook for contacts, calendar and such for business.  The iPhone of course, was not affected.  I downloaded iTunes on the new hard drive, and backed up the phone.  (I sync music and apps on my husband's laptop.)
Now, in trying to sync, though, I get a lot of nebulous messages that really don't explain what the outcome will be.
    Box says:
The information on the iPhone "Susan's iPhone" is synced with another user account.  Do you want to sync this iPhone with the information from this user account instead?
(Choices:  "Merge Info mergest th einformation on this iPhone with the information from this user account.  OR "Replace Info" replaces the information on this iPhone with the information from this user account.  )
My best guess would be 'Merge info" but then, will I end up with double everything?  I have many hundreds of contacts and years of calendars.
It seems with Apple I'm always cleaning up one mess after another.  Today when installing iTunes, it corrupted my Outlook and I had to repair Outlook. So it would be a nightmare to have double of everything on my phone and on my computer.
Does anyone have a clue as to what to expect?

On a PC with Windows or with Paralels iTunes 8.2 has an option for Outlook which works with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 (if it works - see my post on a case where it doesn't ...)

  • Sync iphone to outlook calendar for work but not change how I sync on my home Mac

I use a Mac laptop at home (older one with Tiger OS) , and PC at work.
I do not want to share home info with the work PC but would like to be able to sync my work outlook calendar to my iphone 6.
I also do not want my work email on my iphone.
Of course the IT guys at work don't like Macs and say this can't be done.
Please help me prove them wrong.
    Thanks.

set up your work email on your phone - only check calendar and uncheck everything else.

  • Sync iphone with outlook express

How do I sync my iphone with outlook express?

You don't. It is not a supported program for syncing with iTunes. iTunes supports syncing with Outlook and Windows Address book only on a PC.

  • Syncing iPhone with Outlook and with Oracle Calendar

Set up: Windows XP 2, Oracle Calendar Server, iPhone with 2.0.2 and iTunes 7.7.1.11. Outlook is the desktop client to Oracle Server. Others make appointments for me around my organization.
I have had successful syncs but also failures in this environment, but after the latest releases of firmware and iTunes, it consistently stopped syncing.
I think I have found an unsatisfactory work-around. If I go into the .com add-ins and disable the Oracle connector in Outlook, then I can get the iPhone to sync to Outlook. I then have to turn the connector on to interact with the server. Manageable but not pleasant.
    Is there a better solution?

Originally all of Apple products were intended for use with Mac computers. Macs have default program - iCal to sync calendars. Windows default program is ironically Microsoft Outlook. There couple more options in iTunes for
calendar sync, but those need to be chosen and not default.
In your particular situation since you don't have outlook anymore, you don't need to make any changes. No outlook - no sync. Apple way - no user interference nessesary.
Please do remember that everyting I write is just my opinion, nothing more or less.

  • Syncing iPhone and Outlook Calendar - bug?

I have an issue syncing my iPhone 3G Calendar with Outlook’s Calendar (Outlook 2007). In general, the sync works fine, but: If I delete the current (ie first) instance of a repeating event in Outlook, when I sync, my iPhone will still display ALL instances of that event, including the ‘deleted’ one.
I have verified that this is because the iPhone is syncing the event based on its start date in Outlook, which will include the ‘deleted’ event, rather than what actually is shown as still a valid event in the calendar (which of course is what I want).
I am guessing that this is just because both manufacturers are pursuing a different methodology, but the bottom line is that iPhone claims it will sync properly, so I’d call it a bug.
I have a workaround, in that I can delete events from the Outlook calendar by changing the start date to the current one I wish to display, but this is cumbersome and of course takes more time. Is there a more elegant workaround? Or am I just doing something wrong?

When you decide to sync the second computer to the iphone, itunes will ask you if you want to merge or replace the data.
In the merge, data will be transfered both ways.
So, when you say separate, you can sync them one at a time, but in the end, all the events will be the same on both computers and iphone. Because itunes keeps merging the data.

  • Best Way to Sync Iphone with Outlook - Parallels, Google Cal or Mobile Me?

I just bought a macbook pro. I must sync with outlook because the software I use in my business syncs its calendar and contacts with outlook and then I sync my iphone to outlook. It seems there are three options. I am interested in feedback on these or if I am missing an option.
Parallels 4.0 - This will apparently let me sync with Outlook. I have not tried it. But this would then require me to keep all my photos and music on the Windows partition, which I would prefer not to do.
Google Calendar. I could sync my outlook with Google Calendar and then sync Google Calendar with ICal and then sync on Apple OS side. This seems clunky, but I get to keep my music and photos and whatnot on Apple OS side.
Mobile ME. I think this is an option but I have not investigated it. I think I can sync with outlook and ICal kind of like google calendars but am not sure. Not that thrilled at spending 100.00 year for this service.
Any input. Other options? Let me know.

You can sync iTunes content with a single iTunes library. You can sync iTunes content and transfer photos with iTunes on your OS X side, and sync contacts and calendar events only direct with Outlook with iTunes on the Windows side. Your iPhone can have different sync preferences with iTunes on different computers, and in this case with iTunes on your OS X partition, and with iTunes on your Windows partition.

  • Sync iphone with yahoo calendars

I use yahoo mail along with yahoo calendars. The new iphone allowes me to since with the mail, but only gives me an option to sync with outlook for calendars.
Is there a way to do this?

You can synch yahoo calendar to your iphone if you have an iMac and Yahoo Calendar Beta. First log into your yahoo calendar, then search for yahoo calendar beta, then switch to the beta calendar (be warned, if you switch any calendar entries made in beta will be lost if you go back to classic calendar). Then go to iMac open iCal and add a new calendar. Add yahoo calendar (instructions can be found by searching support for the yahoo calendar beta url). It's not real time, but it does get your events to your iphone.

  • How do I sync iPhone with Outlook?

Would like to be able to sync my new 4S (with iOS 7) with Outlook 2003 (contacts, calendars, memos, to do list, etc), which is on Windows XP.

    Hi sbprchr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has information on how to sync and what you can sync with your iPhone using iTunes:

  • Unable to Sync iphone with outlook 2003

    hi
I have two PCs - one at home and one at office. The PC at home went perfectly (outlook 2007).
I could not sync the contacts and calendars in the outlook 2003 in my office PC with iphone (via itune). I got the error message that "either there is no default mail clinet or mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please turn your outlook as default mail client" but I checked and the outlook was set as default mail client. Pls help
Not sure because the office PC oputlook mail is atatched to the office outlook exchange mail server (while my home PV is attached normal ISP)

I have been having a problem syncing my contacts from outlook 2003 to the iPhone since upgrading to firmware 1.1.3 and iTunes 7.6.
My solution was to exit outlook completely, then run task manager and terminate any outlook tasks that are hanging around. Then (one time only) copy contacts to the iphone by clicking the appropriate box in iTunes. After that it's been syncing normally (as long as no outlook tasks are running).

  • Can't sync iphone with Outlook

My previous setup was ical on my iphone and mac via icloud. Everything synced great. I have changed from ical to Outlook and and wondering how I can sync my calendar from my iphone to outlook via icloud. Furthermore, I would like to be able to create an outlook event within outlook and it auto sync on my iphone. Any suggestions?

I spent an hour on the phone with Apple support on this exact issue. For me, sync to Outlook 2010 (32bit) worked fine in iTunes 9.2.1, and failed after I upgraded to 10. Apple support finally suggested getting Outlook x64. I'm running Windows 7 x64, but MS Office x86 (How Dell shipped it).
So, before going down that path (which is a bit of major surgery on my PC) I decided to completely remove iTunes 10, and my 10 library from my machine (all my media and apps are shared on another home computer).
I then installed iTunes 9.2.1 on the 'clean' machine, and I did a factory reset on my iPhone.
Low and behold the sync of my contacts, calendar and notes works seamlessly now from 9.2.1. I have tested several appointments and contacts and it works without complaint.
So... hate to tell you this but it looks like the issue is with iTunes 10.
So, for now, I will use my 'work' PC to sync just the contacts, notes and calendar with Outlook 2010 (using iTunes 9.2.1). On my 'home' PC I will sync my media and apps with iTunes 10. I've tested this, and it works fine.
Not an ideal solution, I'm lucky to have access to two machines. I'm convinced the problem is with iTunes 10. If you can, go back to iTunes 9.2.1 (there is a backup of you Library itl file you can use (the version 10 ITL won't work with 9.2.1)
Apple needs to fix 10 ASAP.

  • Error when syncing iPhone with Outlook 2007 since updating iPhone to 1.1.2

Since updating to 1.1.2 I receive this message "OutlookSyncClient has stopped working". I am running Vista Business with Outlook 2007. Prior to updating to 1.1.2 I had no issues. I have tested this running iTunes 7.4.3.1 and 7.5.0.20. My contacts sync with no issues, only my calendar does not work. Has anyone else ran into this issue and have you found a resolution/work around?

  • Can' sync iphone with outlook 2007 contacts

Not able to sync my iphone to outlook contacts.  Have followed the suggested method regarding the trust center add-ins.

Is the iPhone syncing everything else in Outlook (calendar, notes)? Has it ever synced contacts? What happened that made you notice it wasn't syncing contacts?
You can try by resetting the sync history in iTunes first.

  • Sync issue with Outlook Calendar

I just got my first BB - the Pearl 8120.  I installed the Desktop Manager v4.6 off the BB web on an XP tablet pc.  I set it up to syncronize with my outlook 2003.  The sync worked fine for the contacts, however, when it started syncing the calendar, it started up saying it was reading from MS Outlook Calendar and read through the items until it reached 2096/13344.  It stalled for about 30-45 seconds and then started up again until it reached 4613.  It stalled again, but started up again.  At record 6089, a message comes up that says "Intellisync - The operation terminated unexpectedly".  I push "ok" and it returns to the desktop manager.  If I push sync again, it comes up and says "Intellisync - unknown error reported".  I have to close out of the desktop manager and restart to have it sync again.  I tried syncing just the notes and it worked fine.  I also sync'd the tasks with no issues.  However, everytime I try syncing the calendar, it bombs out.
I tried to see if there was a suspicious calendar entry in outlook, but I can't find which entry it is bombing out on (just the number - the entries listed in the log don't appear to be in a specific order).
I turned off my anti-virus and had the same luck.
I also went into the advanced section of backup and restore to delete the database (recommendation from BB website technical support), but there are no databases listed at all for the computer databases.
I have been using hotsync from Palm to sync with my palm.  Active sync is also installed on my system.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok- I think I found a solution.  AT&T directed me to a BB document KB01451 which shows you how to turn on advanced logging capability.  Evidently, I had a few records in my Outlook database where the date codes were corrupted for some unknown reason.  I followed the directions to turn on the logging.  Then, do a sync.  After you get the error message, look in the tif.log using notepad and scroll to the bottom of the document.  Within the first few lines, you will see the subject line.  Go into Outlook calendar and go into the advanced find.  Type in the subject line and have the search look for the subject title.  If you have more than one entry with the same name, you can probably figure out the specific record with a location or some other identifying mark.  If not, you need to process all the records you found.  What I did was open up the record - each corrupted record had a reoccurance set.  I went into the reoccurance tab located under tools.  I selected ok and acknowledged the warning it would give me about changes to some events may be changed.  I then saved the appointment.  I then went into the directory of the logs and renamed the logs.  You can also just erase them if you don't want to keep track of them.  By the way, you will probably have to shut down the desktop manager and Outlook in between the errors - you may have to close outlook through the task manager as it gets hung due to the error.  You just have to keep going through the process until you find all the corrupted records - I had 6 in my file of 13k records.  I have no idea why this was happening - the records were from many years ago to a few weeks ago....not a good sign!!  My Palm didn't seem to have an issue with these records, so I don't know why they were an issue with the BB....but I am up and running after several hours of messing with this - hopefully this will help someone else.

  • Synching iphone with outlook calendar

I have just set up a new icloud account and attempted to synch with my outlook calendar and contacts. The outlook was synching with previous icloud account but it is not synching with the new icloud account. Help Please

No I meant icloud. The previous account was not old I just needed to separate business and personal accounts. Have subsequently solved the problem by going to icloud control panel and signing out, and then signing back in, deleting from computer and then signing back in with the same details.
Dont ask me why but it worked. If anyone does this make sure you click save a copy when that option comes up before you delete from computer so that you can retrieve contacts calendar etc - I key stroked too fast, missed it and lost my contacts and calendar
