Syncing iPhone4 to Windows Media Player

Hello:
I am unable to sync my iPhone 4 to Windows Media Player:
1. WMP will not recognize my iphone as a device.
Please advise,
Ed

The iphone only syncs to iTunes, that's by design. There is no desktop mode anymore for it, like it used to be for the older ipods.

Almost certainly these tracks will be standard AAC format with the file extension .m4a and not be protected by DRM. Therefore they will be usable by Windows Media Player when the right steps are followed.
Firstly Windows Media Player 12 as included with Windows7 will itself support AAC tracks and can even read the meta-tags from them including embedded cover art. For Windows Vista I don't know if WMP12 is available and whether it also under Vista support AAC, but I can say that it is possible to use WMP11 under Vista to play AAC files. See the AAC section on this page for information written by myself, http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/WMP/FileFormat.htm
Unfortunately even though it is possible to get WMP12 under Windows7 to also play Apple Lossless, Microsoft have as usual cocked up and even though Apple Lossless also uses the same MPEG4 file format, the same file extension and the same tagging format, it will not treat them as music (it treats them as 'other' media). It was possible do also add Apple Lossless properly with early versions of WMP i.e. 9, 10 and 11, as per my instructions on the above webpage.

  • How do I sync iphone to windows media player

I am trying to sync my iphone and mini ipad to windows media player but nothing happens when I plug it in. Any help would be much appreciated

    Hi there ponchogonzales!
In order to sync your iPhone, iPad, and PC, you will need to install iTunes on your computer. It is a free download, and it can be found right here:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

  • Zen Touch sync problem with Windows Media Player

Please can someone tell me how to get my zen touch to sync with WMP it worked fine until i was advised to install an update to it and it has stopped recognising it! I'm using windows Xp home and have the latest "plays for sure" firmware on the player, Also another problem i cannot install the creative mediasource software to the pc as its wants the player connected and it doesn't recognise the player either!!! the player is recognised in the device manager though can anyone help me please thanks in advance.

I am having a similar problem. I've upgraded firmware(2..0), mediasource(5.0.38), drivers(plays for sure), and Media player(), in that order. After each update, I checked how things worked. That's how I discovered I needed the next. With WMP 0, things were working fine, but I wanted WMP back on my computer. Since then, in CMS5 it takes about 7 minutes to load the player, at least 0 minutes (or sometimes not at all) to edit anything (tag info or playlist) and WMP hangs completely. I've seen that other people have gotten this combination to work with their Zen touch players. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Synced music for Windows Media Player

Does anyone know why some Cd's i rip to Windows Media &/or Blackberry Manager  then sync to my Blackberry Curve do not play correctly, skips through songs in about 5 seconds ?

    Hey Lee.
You will need to restore iPod to factory settings (like new again)
To do this use the iPod Updater, availble here:
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Now when iPod is restored, you will add the songs with iTunes. Only with iTunes. Watch this too:

    Hope that helps.

  • I can sync media files from Windows Media Player to my ipod, but the information will not show up on my ipod. Why?

I HATE using iTunes (it's a pain in the bleeping arse) so, despite what someone from Apple told me, I tried to sync a song from Windows Media Player onto my ipod. The sync appears to be successful, and yet when I ejected my ipod to check to see if the song was on there, it was not. Why? And how do I get it on there? I want to avoid using iTunes at all costs.

Try MediaMonkey or Winamp. Unlike Windows Media Player which will just blindly throw the files onto the iPod's hard drive these two at least (there may be others) know that they have to update the device's database if you are going to be able to access the content that has been added.

  • When I plug in my ipod Nano i syncs to itunes but I can't get the music from my Library in Windows Media Player???

How can I get my music from my Library in Windows Media Player to sync to my iPod Nana?

You can't sync an iPod using Windows Media Player.  You need to add the songs to your iTunes library first, and then sync those songs to the iPod.
This document provides more information (Add to Library section)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1347
NOTE:  The WMA files (the file type used by Window Media Player) need to be unprotected (no DRM).  They are converted to a format supported by iTunes while adding to the iTunes library.  This WMA conversion feature only works in the Windows version of iTunes (Mac users cannot do it).
I believe you can drag and drop the WMA files, or the folder containing the WMA files, onto the iTunes window.  The original WMA files are not changed.  iTunes creates its own converted files at the location it stores all the iTunes media files.

  • Syncing with windows media player

Do I have to have my music in itunes or can I sync with the music I have in my windows media player?

You can sync an iPod with WMP using some 3rd party software like XPlay. It's not free software however, so why not use iTunes?

  • I want to sync my ipod with windows media player
