Syncing iphoto between macs

I have a imac G5 that I've been uploading photos for many years and a laptop that also has many photos. Each computer has some that the other doesn't. Is there an easy way to sync or merge them so that they both have all the images and nothing is lost?
It frustrates me that when I load some photos into one I have to remember to do it on all the platforms.
Please advise....
much appreciated

As I said above, Link the two mac together.
You can do this using Firewire target mode:

or any of the plethora of networking options, wired or wireless.

  • How to sync iPhoto between Mac machines?

I have an iMac 27" and a MacBook Air.
I am wondering if there is a way to sync all the photo in iPhoto between my iMac 27" and MacBook Air?
    Please give me a tip...!
    Thank you!

I just got back from vacation in Spain, and I had brought my camera and my Macbook Pro with me.  But I keep most of my photos on my Mac mini at home.
SyncPhotos worked beautifully.  I installed it on both my laptop and my home mac, waited a little while for it to index/find all my photos, and then used the manual sync feature to move all the photos over to my home Mac.
Because of the smaller HD size in the Macbook I prefer to keep photos on my home Mac only.  But sometimes I want to sync my camera or my phone/iPad to my Macbook.  Now with SyncPhotos I can do both.

  • IPhoto betweens Macs (copy posted on MobileMe thingy as well)

    Copied:
Any insights before making a feature request?
Most of my images are on a dedicated drive on Mac Pro.
MobileMe makes for lovely, superb and incredible syncing with my iPhone.
On the other hand using iPhoto on MacBook Pro allows me to "share" but I am an awkward user.
I don't want to "share" I want to sync iPhoto between Mac Pro and MacBook Pro as easily as I can sync between Mac Pro and iPhone.
    Doable?
    (or feature request?)

There're an application that will keep both of your two iPhoto libraries on the two Macs synced so they contain the same photos in each. However, both libraries must be the same version and the synced photos will not bring with them their keywords and other metadata. It's called iPhotoSync
    Here's how it works:
    1 - it compares the databases and/or album.xml files of Libraries A and B.
2 - the files in A that are not in B are imported into B by copying the original files from A into B's Import folder.
3 - it then does the same for B.
4 - metadata is not copied.
5 - it can be password protected to prevent unauthorized use.
It can be used to just copy from A to B and not sync both ways if desired.
So connect the two Macs together (best to not be wireless) and have iPhotoSync running on each.
If you want to have the metadata information included then you'll have to use iPhoto Library Manager as Terrence suggested and manually select the events or albums to move from A to B and then the same for B to A.

  • How to sync iBooks between Mac and iPhone? I'm on Mavericks and iOS 7

I'm on Mavericks and iOS 7, but my iBook on Mac is different from my iPhone 5.
Does anyone know how to sync iBooks between Mac and iPhone?
This issue has been puzzled me for a while, hope can find a way out here, many thanks~

    Under iTunes / File / Devices ?
But I did not see my iPhone under this section...
    Only see those 4 options:
    Sync "my iPhone"
    Transfer Purchases from "my iPhone"
    Back Up
    Restore from Backup
Could you describe a bit more precise?
    Many thanks~

  • How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud

How to sync bookmarks between Mac and iPhone without iCloud?
I bought a new iPhone and i would like to copy my Safari's bookmarks from my iMac (OS X 10.10.3) to my new iPhone (iOS 8.3).
How to do this, without iCloud?

You might be able to use Google Calendar to do what you want.  Set up a Google account on the web, set up the MacBook to access the Google account, including calendar, then set up the iPhone the same way.  While I'm using MAvericks, I am also using Google to manage my calendar, since I don't particularly *like* iCloud... And I came from Android to iPhone, but I haven't like iCloud since it was called MobileMe.
Oh, and as for sync to iTunes, can't you just use a direct conenction to the computer (either WiFi or cable) to keep the music in control?

how sync mail between mac book and iphone

usually it an effortless process, you just need to set up your accounts on both. Exchange and imap will do the work for you, pop account may require some additional settings changes on mac. Setting that are necessary to change with pop account can be found here.

  • Sync iPhoto between 2 macs

I have iPhoto 09, an old iPod Classic 5 gener, 60 GB, and two macs running 10.6.5.
Only one iPhoto has a library with photos. I transferred to my iPod believing that i can later sync with another mac, but it will not. The empty library on the another mac want to delete all my photos on the iPod.
How to sync iPhoto libraries with an iPod?

Click here, follow the instructions, and use the iPod to move the iPhoto Library item of the Pictures item in the Finder's sidebar to the same location on the new computer. The iPod needs to be formatted for Mac use for this to work.

  • Sync tool between mac and windows

    Hello there,
Is there any software that allows to sync files between a windows machine and a mac?
    Thanks
    Philip

    www.dropbox.com
Dropbox gives you 2GB of space and will sync files to both Windows & Mac OS X machines. I use it to keep files I need for work synched between my MacBook, iMac and Windows 7 and XP machines. Works like a dream. Any file changes made when not connected to the internet will sync at the next connect, and it does a decent job of managing conflicts.

  • Sync Photos between Mac & iOS

Am I right in assuming it is no longer possible to synch Photos libraries between Mac and iOS without using the iCloud Photo Library?

That's what I've been trying to do. Nothing is syncronized. Where it says "Copy photos from" – earlier I think you could select the iPhoto library, but there's no way to select the Photos library.

  • Sync photos between macs

  • Google cal sync issues between mac and iPhone?

Just noticed this morning that my iphone is not syncing with my mac calendar and google calendar, but only for past events with just one specific calendar? I seemed to have lost all the previous events up through today for that specific cal? New events seem to be created OK, but if I change the event to a different calendar on my iphone, it duplicates it on my mac and google calendar showing the event in bith the original cal and the one I swithched it to. I checked google sync and cal div and all the appropriate calendars are selected. I did also have icloud cal selected on my iphone which I unchecked. I just updated to 10.8.2 on my mac a few days ago and it got hung up during install...had to hard restart the mac. Dont know if that could have something to do with it? Anyone else having issues with this?

You should ask in the MobileMe forums as this forum (iSync) has nothing to do with syncing Macs to MobileMe.

  • How do I sync calendars between Mac (OS10.6.8) and iPad (iOS7.1)? using iTunes (v 11.1.15).

I have an iMac (model 8.1, OS X v 10.6.8) and an iPad 2 (iOS 7.1).  The calendars no longer sych via iTunes but did about 6 months ago. I think that may have been when I updated the iPad OS.  None of the instructions I've seen on-line seem to help. When I attach the iPad to the iMac via a USB cable I get the following message in iTunes - > Info - >Sych Calendars, "Your calendara are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud. Over the air settings can be changed on your iPad."  I do not have an iCloud account.  According to the Apple Support website, "To use iCloud, you must have at least iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPad, or iPad mini; or at least OS X Lion v10.7.5 on a Mac." I'm not sure my iMac can support that OS due to its age.  Besides, I used to be able to sync the calendars so why bother with iCloud?  It just seems like one more step.
Also, I've never been able to sych the mail content between the two machines.  The message below the iTunes->iPad->Info ->Sync Mail Accounts says, "Syncing Mail Accounts syncs your account settings, but not your messages...."  Any instructions on how to sync the messages would be appreciated too.
It's frustrating to have these syncing challenges.  I had a Palm Pilot at work about 15 years ago and and it synced with the PC any time I put it into the docking cradle.  Same thing with a work-issued Blackberry about 10 years ago.  I'm disappointed that the Apple systems seems to be so convoluted and un-user friendly.  Syncing calendars worked when I orginally got the iPad about two years ago but now doesn't seem to sych.  What am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi crispinfromab,
If you are having issues syncing your calendars via USB, you may find the following articles helpful. If you do not have an iCloud account or don't intend to use it for syncing, you may also want to make sure that iCloud syncing is turned off on your phone (under Settings > iCloud).

  • Sync issues between Mac and Mobile Me

    Hi all,
I'm having issues syncing between MobileMe and my Macbook Pro. It used to work perfectly, but I haven't been able to get it to sync since early August. All the changes I make between my iPhone and MobileMe work fine, but they just wont update with any changes I make on my Macbook. Equally, changes made on iPhone or MobileMe don't show on my laptop anymore.
I've tried force syncs and resetting sync data (and transferring info from MobileMe) but none work. Is there anything else I can try?
    Thanks,

You should ask in the MobileMe forums as this forum (iSync) has nothing to do with syncing Macs to MobileMe.

  • Sync iCal between macs

Events are not showing up between my Powerbook G4 and desktop iMac G5. This is a recent problem. I followed the "help" guidelines for resetting sync but that did not fix things. ICal preferences and .mac sync appear to be set correctly on both computers.

While you can synchronize both published and subscribed calendars, it is not necessary to publish a calendar in order to synchronize it. The process of synchronization has no relationship to publication or subscription.
The synchronize calendars using .Mac Sync, follow the instructions shown here:
    http://www.mac.com/1/learningcenter/Modules/qgdmSynct1.html
Calendar synchronization is an all-or-nothing proposition: you cannot select which individual calendars are synchronized, all are or none are.

  • Pages sync function between Mac and iPhone

I decided to get Pages to sync between my iPhone and my Macbook Pro because of the feature that lets me continue typing on my phone when I can't use my laptop. But I want to know if, when I make a document, does my phone need constant internet connection or does it just kind of download it to the phone and updates when I look for it on my computer?
I'm basically asking if my data bill will reflect me using this feature or can I not worry past the initial download.
    Thanks

I have been doing some reading on the Apple site, and they do not explicitly state that Pages on IOS 8.1 autosaves. I have my suspicions that it does.
I don't have IOS 8.1 installed here, but a simple test can be revealing. Open the same document from iCloud drive on your phone, and on your Mac in Pages v5.5. Make changes to the document on your phone. Don't attempt to quit the application. Do the changes automatically update after a short delay on Pages v5.5? If they do, then you know that the phones network connection is utilized — likely with Wi-Fi priority over your carrier data plan.
Do not confuse iCloud Drive document availability on participating networked Apple devices as the Handoff feature. I still believe for that to automatically work, it would require Bluetooth enabled on both devices, and local proximity to one another.
