SYNCING IPOD (5th Gen Video) w/Windows XP on an Intel Core 2 Duo

SYNCING IPOD
I'm trying to sync my IPOD from the library in Itunes on my computer, but it will not sync and I see all the songs on my computer along with the different playlists such as: dance, instrumental and so on. The error that I get for the IPOD is: songs on the IPOD "Belinda's IPOD" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist. How can this be true, since I still see all the playlists on my computer? Why won't it sync? I am desperate and really need some help -- now I have no music to play at all on my IPOD for going to the gym with, or playing in my car, and have become very upset. Why is this so hard to do stuff between the Itunes and IPOD? If this IPOD ever goes on me, not sure if I will buy another IPOD -- almost to that point.
Thanks,
VERY FRUSTRATED, PLEASE HELP!!

How can this be true, since I still see all the playlists on my computer?
Okay but none of those playlists are selected to sync to your iPod.
Select the iPod in iTunes.
Click on the Music tab.
Select *Sync music* and *Selected playlists* in the drop down box then tick the playlists you want to sync to the iPod.
Or just select *Sync all* in the drop down.

  • Ipod 5th gen, video 30bg, will sync/restore, won't play

I am running Windows 7, with all updates (as of 3/14/2014) have itunes 11.1.5.5 showing no available updates. When I plug into the USB port, the ipod gets recognized, Itunes starts. I can see the files on the ipod. I have reset the ipod and restored. Same problem. When I drill down to the actual file I want to listen to, it doesn't play. On the screen the icon changes from pause to the arrow for play, the index line never advances. You can hit the select button, use the scroll wheel to advance through the file, and hit play again, but no noise. There isn't noise if in the dock (which other ipods and iphones work with in the house) there is no noise if the headphones are plugged in. i was thinking harddrive, so I replaced it. couldn't get the new one to function. When the new harddrive was in the unhappy face would come up. I could force into disk mode, in hopes of restoring it, but in disk mode, neither windows and hence itunes would recognize it as an ipod. I put the old hard drive back in thinking maybe I damaged the cable, but it came right up, but with the same problem, it won't play the sounds... I replaced the Zif cable just in case, still the same...
i've sure seen lots of Ipod 5th gen video for sale on Ebay, compared to the 4th that I had, which I broke the scroll wheel cable on, but never had such problems with it. Any thoughts out there from someone who might know what it's doing? It seems weird that it loads the music files, and deletes the music files but won't play them. The only other thing I can think of perhaps is the battery too low to spin the hard drive up to play? It does seem to be a very small (physically) battery compared to the 4th gen... but it is thicker...
When I got it it was doing the low power thing, so I did all the steps to re-charge, and restore, but it won't play the files... Thanks for any thoughts!
    Jesse

It sound like you did some good troubleshooting.  Thanks for providing the details.  I don't think a problem like this is related to the battery.
With a 5th gen iPod (early version) that has a 30GB hard drive, it may have problems using a larger capacity hard drive.  That may explain the different problem you had when you replaced the hard drive, if you changed the capacity.
Try the following test.  Do another Restore from the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  At the end of the Restore process, choose NOT to sync anything automatically.
Go to the iTunes Store and download a free song.  You can find the current free songs by clicking Free on iTunes under QUICK LINKS, on the iTunes Store Home screen.
Manually load that ONE song on the iPod.  Disconnect iPod and try to play that one song.  Does this same problem occur?

  • Windows media player does not recognise to sync ipod 5th gen. ???

  • Ipod 5th Gen Video 80Gb disk mode not recognized on itunes

    Hi there everyone,
So i have my ipod 5th gen 80GB video and here's my problem.
Time ago i had it in a pocket of my backpack that was supposed to be waterproof. We got completely washed in NYC and when i took it out of my backpack pocket the ipod was dead or behaving in a weird way.
It didn't turn on then i let it dry. After weeks i've been trying to charge it but it seems it had battery problems so i bought a new one and replaced.
Now the ipod stays on but it keeps restarting showing me the sad face. Then it restarts beginning fgrom the apple logo and the same thing comes up.
I can put it in disk mode and also in the diagnostic mode thru the key combination.
I let it sit for 24 hours more or less to the wall charger and the battery seems to be completely full and the ipod stays on, still fiving me the same synthoms. Then i put it in disk mode while downloading the last version of itunes (9). When i plug it in, i hear the sound that windows makes when you plug something via usb. It installs the software and it sees it as an ipod device. But itunes WON'T.
This appens with every usb port that i have. I can put it in disk mode even plugged into the computer, i hear the windows sound like i just plugged something in but nothing.
When i reset the ipod, sometimes i see the screen that tells me to connect the ipod to itunes and procede to the restore.
Sometimes i see the big V and the "ok to disconnect". The if i plug it in with itunes open on my desktop i see the "do not disconnect" but nothing happens, it will not see it yet.
After 30 secs more or less, the ipod restarts again on its own showing me the sad face.
If i turn it off it tells me "very low battery" but i don't know if this last one statement its important or not.
I know already that all of my music and videos are gone. I just would like to get to the restore step then i'll start over again loading music and videos.
What kind of problem do you think it has? Is there another hardware component damaged that needs to be replaced?
Is there a solution for this kind of issue?
Of course i've been following ALL the apple instructions on the website, the 5 R's and so on but nothing worked.
I really hope that someone in here could give me an hint because at this point i really don't know where to crush my head
Thank you so much for your time!

I'm having the same exact problem. When I first started using Vista it was fine, but now all of the sudden it will do nothing with My iPod and it kind of angers me.

  • ITunes crashes while syncing iPod 5th Gen.

I have begun encountering massive errors when attempting to sync my 5th Gen. iPod to iTunes 7.5 on my HP laptop. Almost immediately after the iPod is detected, a Vista window pops up, stating that an error has occurred and iTunes must close. Several times after this has happened, my computer has automatically restarted itself, several times going to a blue screen where it appears that major disk analysis takes place. I was once able to stop syncing and keep iTunes open with my iPod attached; I restored it to see if that could help the issue, but nothing has changed. I have reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime, and I have tried one of the 7.4 versions of iTunes as well. Nothing is helping. Any ideas or suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

I have a Dell Dimension. I have just upgraded from XP to Vista with a clean install. 5th Gen Ipod no longer works with iTunes 7.5 esp when syncing photos - it takes 5 minutes per photo and crashes after 5 photos.
Having Googled this it seems there are many similar issues

  • IPOD 5th Gen Video - Multiple post iTunes 7.0 issues

My 5th Generation IPOD had been working perfectly and I didn't have an issues until I upgraded to version 7 of iTunes for Windows and I cannot manage it anymore although it works fine as a player. I've run into the following issues and they are not resolved and I'm not making progress at all.
1.) When I connect my iPod it shows up as a disk on my Windows system but iTunes does not discover it or display it in the iTunes application. To get it to show up I have to exit iTunes and then I have to restart the IPOD Service and then restart iTunes. This works sometimes. I have disabled anti-virus and other services to verify that there isn't a conflict and it didn't fix the problem.
2.) Ever since the upgrade to the iTunes 7.0 I get the prompt to upgrade my software to 1.2. I think the player is running one revision back which was 1.1x. I've never been able to update to 1.2 because if I click the install button the progress bar displays a narrow line that moves left to right but it never stops. After about 20 seconds the iPod will disconnect from the computer completely like has aborted but I dont get an error. Meanwhile, iTunes just sits there in a loop and the only way I can get out of it is to kill the iTunes process via the task bar.
3.)Now after upgrading to the latest updated version (that supposedly fixed bugs) I have a new problem. I can purchase music/videos from iTunes Store but when I try to transfer it them to the IPOD it says that it cannot because the IPOD software is too old. Now this is insult to injury!
    My steps to resolve:
What I have done up to this point is run diagnostics via the IPOD itself. I ran all of them and it checked out fine. Then I ran diagnostics via iTunes and everything checks out there also. I've run Windows ScanDisk on it and it appears there are 4 .CHK files so it did find a problem. So, I finally decided to reload the unit and start over. Unfortunately, I get the same behavior when I try to reload to defaults and iTunes just sits there and the IPOD disconnects from my PC after 20 seconds. So, I was thinking that I could format the iPOD using FAT32 and then have iTunes reload it once the disk was clean (I've read this is possible) but I can't because Windows says that 60GB is too big a volume to format with FAT32. OK, now what do I do? What really annoys me is I cannot use the old IPOD Updater 2006-06-28 software because it says I need to use iTunes 7.0 to update it even though the IPOD is running software from the Updater 2006-06-28 utility! iTunes 7.0 *****!!! Please help!

RESOLVED. Called support and iTunes 7.0 requires that Windows Terminal Services be used in order for it to work properly. I always disable this for security reasons. Once I changed it to manual and rebooted iTunes worked fine and all problems have been resolved. I was told that they may of changed the scripting with iTunes 7.0 where it requires it. I was also told that Terminal Services is linked to USB ports somehow which is weird. Regardless all problems were resolved.

  • Audiobooks going into "Other" folder when syncing on 5th gen video ipod

Suddenly a bunch of audiobooks I bought recently are not syncing properly. They seem to be going into the "other" category because when I look at my iPod memory summary, the colored bar chart, I see that category (in orange) growing but Audio (blue) remains the same. The files appear to be on the iPod when I look in iTunes but when I unplug the iPod and check there I can't find the audiobooks on the device. I restored twice, and then started getting the -48 error message. It seems as though iTunes is somehow misallocating the files and making them invisible. Any ideas how to fix this?

When you connect the iPod to any kind of powersource, or anytime you turn it on, it has these fans inside of it that start turning and shifting into place to cool the iPod off to keep it at a temperature at which it is able to operate. Soemtimes, the hardrive clicks as it does this to rev up, which is normal, like an airplane does as it takes off. On the other hand, if it does this non-stop for an extended period of time, then you might want to get it looked at by an apple genius at an apple store.

  • 30 gb ipod 5th gen- Video doesn't work Help Please!!!

I bought a used ipod off ebay, and ive been having nothing but problems with it. It came with music already loaded on it, but i deleted that music off. Then, I tried putting more music on it, and after successfully putting the music on it and ejecting the ipod, when trying to play the music on the ipod, it was blank. I restored it a million times, and I have the most recent update. Thankfully, I tried clicking and dragging the music from my library to the ipod and that worked. Now music is able to be played. But then, I tried putting videos on the same way. It was successfull, but when I tried to play the videos, the screen just goes blank, and after about 5 seconds it goes back to the menu. Ive tried switching the tv on and tv ask options to tv off, but that did not help, so if anyone can please help, it would be very much appreciated.

  • Saving iPod 5th gen video files -- keep DAT files?

When transferring video shot with my iPod to my Macbook, each one shows up as an IMG_1234.mp4 with a corresponding IMG_1234.DAT file that is always 319 KB, regardless of the size of the mpeg file.
What are these files; what purpose do they serve?
Do I need to save them along with the MPEG video?

    Hello RBKix,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
What are these files; what purpose do they serve?
They may bey files that are generated alongside the video to hold certain information about the video, but are no longer needed once the video recording has been completed. Could be any number of things though. The important thing here is that they do not need to be copied over.
Do I need to save them along with the MPEG video?
    Again, no.

  • SYNC\iPOD 3rd Gen to/through-windows-7

Ok-computer on ipod connected-go to control panel/security sys/firewall--OFF--now download itunes (win-7,64)verify now that you have the (apple mobile device driver)upon verification, turn your firewall back on,you now can create a short-cut/file location, the essential element here is the (apple mobile device driver)the process is allowing this driver on/in your computer..[email protected]..

Because it works with the other PCs, you've ruled out a problem on the shuffle itself and a problem with the USB cable.  So that leaves some issue on the PC with Windows 7.  I don't think 64-bit versus 32-bit is a consideration.
As a test, if you have not already, I would shut down and disconnect all other USB devices from the computer (except for standard keyboard and mouse if used).  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on computer.
If the shuffle is still not recognized by iTunes, also check other places, such as Device Manager, to see if it appears anywhere.

  • Case included with Ipod 5th Gen video 60gig?

I'm wondering what is that greyish case that came with my ipod video for? It doesn't perfectly fit my ipod, nor can i think exactly what it is for unless it's for the headset or the data cable or something?
    Any1 know?

I honestly think Apple is better off shipping no case at all than to ship that piece of cloth they try to pass off as a case. Maybe it would look better if you painted it or something.
If it doesn't fit your iPod, you should consider yourself lucky, because you're not missing much, except maybe being made fun of by your friends for having an iPod case that looks like a summer camp project.
You could put baseball cards in it, I guess... :/
It would be kind of nice if all iPods shipped with a coupon code for an eXo iSkin of your choice (or any other iPod case company, eXo's just the first that came to mind). Because I've got the irking suspicion that when Apple's design team had to design this case, they were anxious to go to lunch or something...
But don't fret. The iPod itself was much more carefully designed!

  • Ipod 5th gen video in a restore loop

when i try to restore the ipod it works and everything but after it loads up and turns on it goes back to the connect to computer use itunes to restore screen

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

If necessary, post the resultings numbers and we can verify what the next steps to take.

heres an update, i reconnected it to the dock (when its powered off) and apparently it still can charge the ipod. Apparenty the hard drive must have ran the battery dry and now the little icon for "very low power" is shown.

  • Window server on intel core duo

is window server installed on intel core duo.how it is installed

Perhaps you are misunderstanding something about Apple computers.
All Apple computers, including those with the Intel Core Duo processors, come with Mac OS X as the preinstalled operating system.
Only recently, Apple has released a beta version of Boot Camp, which is software that will allow you to partition your hard drive for the purpose of installing Windows XP on a seaparate partition, thus creating a dual boot system. Boot Camp includes drivers for Windows XP which allows Windows to run on the Apple hardware.
You can't simply install any version of Windows on Apple hardware.
You need to install Boot Camp first. Boot Camp does not have the drivers for Windows 2003 server, so you will probably not be able to run it successfully.
