Syncing Ipod apps to new computer

I have had my Ipod for about 2 months now, and have just recieved my new computer. I want to know how to sync my new computer to my Ipod, so that all the apps, that are on the Ipod, are backed up on the computer.
I have allready transfered all my songs from the old computer to this new one.
I cant really run both computers at the same time due to space issues, but I can plug the old one in temperarily if needed.
I log into Itunes on the new computer with same login... I was hoping it would redownload all the apps automaticly, but it did not.

Thanks that is what I needed. I have only been using Itunes for about 2 months. I have had my music collection for over 10 years, so I knew right where it was. The music was also on a second HD, so I just transfered it from there. I did not know where the Itunes App purchases where kept, so they did not get moved.

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

My old laptop was recently stolen, and I just replaced it. However, when syncing my iPhone to the new computer, all music was lost. No problem, I had a backup on my iPod/external drive, hurrah.
However, I did not backup the .ipx files for the applications. Do I need to redownload all the apps, or is there a way to sync it to the new computer without nuking all the old apps (and the stored data/settings)? Thank you!

That computer is no longer operating and I have a new computer which I had transfered all of the itunes files from the old computer onto. But non of the kids' devices show up on it. yes they can. plug each ipod touch individually and there be a pop up screen that will come up on the screen asking do you trust the computer to access the ipod click yes and you need to do that with each ipod now that since each ipod was synced with another itunes library any music that is currently on each ipod will be deleted and that is because each ipod can only be synced to one itunes library at a time. also be sure that the new computer is authorized to play all content assoicated with the apple id that your are using and then go into your account through the itunes store and go to the area that allows you to manage devices and remove your old computer and make sure as well that your computer is deauthorized as well but since you can't do that don't worry about that

I imported cd's on my computer and synced my ipod. I now have a new computer. My new library only recognizes the purchased itunes, not the imported cd's. I get a warning I will lose my old library if I sync with the new library...any way around losing all those imported cd's?

My wife's iBook died and now I need to switch her to a newer computer. She had been syncing her iPod Touch with the old computer and she also has an iTunes account. During the down time she has been entering calendar data directly into the iPod Touch.

Before you scrap the old one, go into iTunes and deauthorize the computer. When you get the new one set up and ready to go, go back into iTunes and authorize the new computer.
I'm not sure how you plan to transfer your library, but a portable hard drive or a big memory stick do work well. Don't forget to copy over the xml file as well as that will preserve your settings in iTunes.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

Old Computer broke, trying to sync ipod touch to new computer

The old laptop I had my new IPod Touch synced to died, so I bought a new Laptop, but ITunes won't allow me to sync to it. It only gives me the option to "Eject", and won't allow me to put any of the new music I have downloaded for my new laptop.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.

Hello all,
I have recently purchased a new cpu, and i have downloaded itunes, the problem i am having is that i want the 110 songs that are currently on my ipod, to be placed on my new cpu in itunes. All i can do is on the new cpu is transfer but it will only transfer from itunes to ipod and itunes is empty so therefore it erases my ipod, then i have to go back to old cpu to get the 110 songs back. i want the music on the ipod to go to the library on the new cpu. How do i do this?
