Syncing ipod to new computer/new itunes.

I want to put all of my music/pictures (518 songs and 18 pics) onto my new computer, which has the upgraded version of iTunes on it. But I'm not sure how to get all of the songs on there. It's only showing the songs that I've purchased through iTunes. Can anybody help me?

  • Computer crashed. sync ipod to new itunes but threatens to erase! pls reply

    Hi,
my computer crashed and everything has been wiped.
So i download new itunes, and sync my ipod but threatens to erase all my files.
This computer runs on Windows XP and my ipod is an ipod touch.
Is there any way to get all my music & videos onto my computer or straight onto itunes?
There's just alot of music and videos that i can't just download them all again!

    Welcome to AD!
My advice is to use a 3rd-party ipod manager program to get everything off the ipod.

  • Syncing IPod to new ITunes account

The computer I had my ITunes account on crashed and I am unable to get anything off of it. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I recently synced my IPod so do have all of my songs on it.
Is there away to download ITunes onto a new computer and transfer all of my songs to it? I have tried numerous different ways but the only songs I can transfer are my purchased songs. Can anyone help or is this a lost cause?

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • ITunes was on a drive destroyed by virus; how can i sync my iPod with new iTunes on new computer without losing my old library? There is no backup iTunes/iPod files available.

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

  • I have two ipods that cannot sync to my macbook because i had to replace the hard drive in the mac.  the ipods say they are synced to another itunes library and can't be synced with my new itunes account.  help!

i have two ipods that are synced to my previous itunes account that was on my macbook before the hard drive crashed.  i can't sync with the new itunes on the new hard drive - help!

Why did you start a new account?
Copy everything from your backup copy of your computer to your new hard drive.
Ipod will sync to one itunes library at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the ipod.

Launch iTunes on your new computer.

  • Old iPOD to new iTunes on new computer to new nano.  Is this possible

I have an old iPOD and I have a new nano and new computer.   I want to get music from old iPOD to new iTunes on new computer to new nano.  Is this possible

Yes.  You'll want to copy all the content from the older iPod back to your new iTunes library first.  Once you have successfully copied and stored all of this content in your new iTunes library, you can set it up to sync to your new Nano.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Syncing to a new itunes library after reloading it

My computer crashed recently and I had to reload everything including itunes, now my iphone wants to erase its content to sync with the new itunes library (which is empty), is there any way to download the current content of my iphone to the new itunes??

Did you lose all important content on your computer's hard drive, or just your iTunes library?
Your iTunes library should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data such as documents, photos, contacts, etc. stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only. This is important regardless the platform but even more so with Windows due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.
Since this won't be the last time you go through this with Windows, follow the instructions included with this link for including your iTunes library with your computer's backup in the future. Restoring your iTunes library from such a backup restores it completely - all content including 3rd party apps, playlists, playcount, etc.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
The iPhone is not designed or intended to be a backup storage device.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • How to sync Iphone with new itunes library?

I used to sync my iphone with itunes on my macbook.
My macbbok was lost, and i got a new macbook.
Now when i try to sync with the new itunes libaray, it prpompts that it will delete my exisiting data on my phone, This would mean losing all my contacts, and text messages etc.
Is there a way i can sync to a new itunes library without losing my data?
    thanks
    nazmul

Sorry to hear about your macbook.
Others have reported that if you have at least on contact and calendar entry on your new computer when you sync, then it will not erase you iphone, it will simply merge the two. While that makes perfect sense, I have not tried it myself.
As for the texts, I don;t think you can get those back.
Music can only be synced to one library at a time, so the music will be gone. However, in Itunes you can "transfer purchases," at least putting your itunes purchased music on your computer.
It is always a good idea to have a backup. I use an external hard drive. Then you will have a complete backup if anything happens to your computer.
Good luck. I hope it works out.

  • I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

  • Ipod Back to computer with iTunes

I have a lot of music on my Ipod but it all got erased from my computer. I either want to burn the music from my Ipod onto a CD or take the music from my Ipod and put it on my computer. Now i don't think theres a way to drag and drop music off ur ipod so i wanna find an alternative way. If someone could please answer this question it would be helpful or else i won't have this music anymore i need A BACK UP. Also my computer is updated and working fine so theres no problem there.
    Thanks NJregulator

    For windows only
    1) If Itunes is already installed disk use may need to enabled so you can see the Ipod in my computer. Itunes hides your ipod from windows otherwise.
    2) Make sure you can view hidden files. In MY computer go to tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders.
    3) Windows should see the ipod and your music should be on your ipod in several hidden folders. To be safe I would copy it all to say your desktop.
    4) Install Itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ (if you don't already have it installed)
After that drag the copied folder to Itunes (drag and drop or in Itunes (File>add folder to library)
You may need to authorise your new computer by playing it in the library first.
There are third party software that will let you take the music of for windows and mac.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
