Syncing ipod when you have playlists from another computer on ipod

i have a playlist on my ipod given to me by a friend. She did this by syncing my ipod to her itunes on her computer. Now i want to re-dock & sync my ipod to MY itunes library, but am worried it will wipe the gifted playlist off my ipod. How do i do this?

Another method you can use to auto-sync your iPod with iTunes is "Sync Music - Selected Playlists". Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". This is particularly useful when your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod. When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod: Syncing Music to iPod

  • We have a 5s active on our account.  After turning on a previously active 4s (it had the same number)  The 5s can no longer place call and when you call it from another phone the 4s rings, but will not pick up.  Texting over the cell networks works fine.

    hens0861,
Hmm, let's ensure this is working as it should be! So what phone should be active on your account? Did you switch the devices online or how to did you activate the 5s? Please share details.

  • How do you transfer playlists from on computer to a new one, library has already been transfered

how do you transfer playlists from on computer to a new one, library has already been transfered

    - Why not just copy the iTunes computer folder to the new computer?
    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - You can transfer non-iTunes purchased music by using one of the third-party programs discussed in ths previous discussion:
    Best iPod to PC
    - Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file from your old computer to the new one and restore from backup, you will have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod and thus loose all app date. The iPod backup file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

How do you unlock an Ipod Touch if you have exceeded your attempts for a valid password.  I have connnected the Ipod to my host computer, but the computer doesnt recognize the Ipod because it is locked.  The error I get on the Ipod is "Ipod Disabled - connect to Itunes."
    thanks

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • TS2363 How do you safely disconnect an iPod when you have this problem?

The 'safely remove hardware' on lower right of screen says " Windows can't stop your ' Apple iPod USB Device' beacause a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using  the device, and then try again later." iTunes is closed and I cannot reopen it.

By now, you've probably turned off the computer. That would allow you to safely disconnect the ipod. If not - do it.
The usual cause is precisely as it says; a programme is still using, or working with, the iPod, and often it is your anti-virus software that is running a check on the iPod storage. It could also be any programme that you were using to modify a file that is on the iPod. For example, if you modify a photo (thta's on your iPod) in a photo application, and leave the application open, that may cause the issue.
But I notice one thing you said.

You should be using the eject button in iTunes, not the Windows one and you should eject before closing iTunes.
See the eject icon next to the word iPod.
Alternatively, if you have the sidebar showing, the iPod and the eject button will appear in the left sidebar.

  • Apple used to have a video synthesizer that was on when you played music from the computer.  Is it still there and if so, how do you turn it on

  • Downloading playlist from another computer

Is there an easy way to download playlist from a friends computer onto my ipod?

What you do is buy your own copy of the songs you like, put them on your computer, and then to your iPod from there.
Downloading them from your friend's computer is almost certainly a copyright infringement, not legal, and therefor it violates the terms of use for these boards to discuss how to do it.

  • Can you move playlist from on computer to another?

Just wanted to move a playlist I created on my laptop to my desktop if it's not that hard. I figured there would be a playlist file somewhere that I could just copy and drop into the itunes folder on my desktop, but I can't seem to find one. Thanks for any help.

I have a similar problem. I connect my ipod to two different computers, both of these computers have completely different music saved on them. How can i connect to one computer without the ipod deleting all the tunes on the ipod that are not in the music list on the other computer?

  • HT1918 What do you do when you have moved to another country?

My credit info has changed after moving to another country and my current itunes account will only accept US information. I went to Itunes canada and changed my info, but when I try to purchase, Itunes opens and the info is US and cannot be changed to Canada.

  • HT201272 For some reason tune purchases have vanished from my computer and ipod, i checked my purchases and it thinks they are on the computer and won't let me redownload them. What do I do?

So i puty my Ipod in to charge a few weeks back and then the next time I went to use it I found a bunch of songs missig so I plugged it back in and found Itunes still listed but when I click on them it says it can't find them. I brought up my purchases on Itunes and it says they are on my computer and downloaded, won't let me re-download. How do I fix it? I really don't want to have to buy them all again or something.  And why is this whiole thing so slow?

Also consider using vlc as the player which can handle a wide range of video formats as well.

  • What happens when you have discarded of a computer

i have replaced this computer for anold one does this count as the 5 allowed

if you don't have access to your old computer(s) anymore, and forgot to deauthorize it/them before you got rid of it/them, wait until you reach the limit of five machines. you can then use the deauthorize all feature. once done, reauthorize the computers you currently use/have access to.

  • HT1386 Why does it not bring the playlist from the computer to the ipod during syncing?

I cannot get the ipod to bring the playlist from the computer to the ipod

    Maybe this:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • I am away and want to dounload an audio book to my ipod, is this possible from another computer?

I am away and want to download an audio book to my classic Ipod.  Is this possible from another computer?

Also the audible app is for iPhone 5 and above
According to https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audiobooks-from-audible/id379693831?mt=8 it only requires iOS 5 or later and it is "optimized" for iPhone 5. I think it will likely work well on your iPhone 4.
Compatibility: Requires iOS 5.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
