SYNCING is a big pain!

Im havign such a hard time syncing things and very dissapointed with the iphone in this regard, my Droid handled it A LOT better! I'm trying to sync all my iphone stuff to my ipad
1. Contacts - tried so many things and always data would get changed on my phone..
-Windows Contacts sync changes fields in my iphone contacts
-Google Contacts sync ruins photos of contacts and replaces them with tiny google thumbnails
2. Music - ID3 tags get ruined over time and Apple replaces them with its own info rearranging my library and screwing it up
3. Calendars - biggest pain, im gonna make a separate post about this
I hope people can help me out and let me know why its sych a pain syncing with Apple, its not clear at all and there are way too many options

We can answer specific tech questions but we can't train people on how to use iTunes. Are you near an Apple store? If so, they offer classes on how to use their products. There are also online resources...

Can't read or write from iPod when it syncs with a big library

When I try to sync with my 50Gb size library in the iTunes installed on my iBook G4 (10.4.11), it appears "can't read or write from the ipod", in the middle of the synchronization. It starts to do the job very well, but when it has done only 6 or 8 Gb, the process got slower until it appears such message. I have iTunes 7.6 and ipod firmware 1.1. I have tried on Windows and Mac plattforms, trying all the combinations (Mac and/or Win formats) and the trouble persists. The device has only two weeks of use, and it was working perfectly until now. The problem it is the same if I do it manually (no automatic sync). I am not sure if the problem is defective hardware, does anybody have any idea or have similar problem? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your answer. The idea of an increasing autoplaylist it is pretty good. I did it, in 5 Gb steps, and in the thrid step (10 Gb done), when it only has copied almost one Gb, the error message pop up again. Before the message appears, iTunes become slower and slower copyng each song until it stops in one song, and after a while, message appears. After, the system come down, almost blocked, and it takes a long until I can mount the ipod again. Of course, ipod restarts automatically and the songs copied in the last step are not there. I was taking care in every moment of the process, avoiding to leave the system suspend alone (and also turning off all the saving energy options). I am now pretty sure that the problem is on the device. Anyway, thank you very much for your valuable ideas.

It's been a big pain in the rear

I'm trying to dump Windows operating system family in favor of Apple OS X and it's been a pure nightmare with Adobe sales. I've dumped hundreds of dollars into Adobe to be treated like crap, I've been an Adobe user for at least 10 years and faithfully upgraded with each new version that is including Illustrator. They told me I have to buy a full version for Mac and basically start over. :( I've already went through the ordeal with their method of guaranteeing the software for Windows will be destroyed with no responses and this has been over 6 months ago. Presently I own 2 licenses for Photoshop CS3 and one of the purchases was an internet order error. I tried to get that corrected at no avail. So now I have 2 licenses which does me no good. I called sales to see what they could do for me and said that I couldn't buy an upgrade version for Mac from a Windows version. I just rolled my eyes. They did offer me a deal where I would dump around 700.00 for a package that included other software packages which I had no freaking interests.
All I want out of this, is for Adobe in their next version of CS4 to have the option for the license to be able to run on either Mac or Windows just like Lightroom. I think this is only fair and just. I'm so mad that I'm almost tempted to start using cracks. What happened to the keep the customer happy attitude. Maybe Adobe has gotten to big to even care about the customer base.

Some years back, I was tempted to "go over to the dark side," and contacted Adobe. This was about CS time. Then, they said that everything that I had (except for a few titles that were not available on Mac) could be converted over for the price of the upgrade.
I see two possible answers:
1.) Adobe changed their policy, but really wonder about that.
2.) You did not speak to the correct folk.
For me, the offer was free of stings, or any problems. I did not avail myself of it, and stayed with MS OS, but the Customer Support folk were very helpful, took time to look at every Adobe program that I had registered and told me of the few, that were not X-platform.
One thing that I have noticed is that with some of the various "suites," older upgrade paths are now closed, if one upgraded to a suite, from a qualified stand-alone. Since I've got most of the suites, and also had original standalone licenses, I was a bit shocked that I could not upgrade to just PS Extended CS3 any longer. In the "old days," even if you bought a "suite," you got individual licenses for each program in it. Now, it's not so linear, nor is it so easy.
Sorry, if things are different now, vis-a-vis X-platform upgrades.

Organizing photos in Iphoto is a big pain and

Does anyone have issues with getting IPHOTO organized? I upgraded to the version 11 from the 08 because I thought that there would be some additional features related to the way that photos and events could be handled. I was very dissappointed to find out that there is absolutely no improvements or changes to the way that photos and events could be organized. First of all, who in the heck has time to name, rate, assign keywords etc.. to their photos upon import from camera. It is very difficut to find photos with Iphoto. I have a huge amount of photos. If I view photos instead of view events, how in the heck am I to drag photos from one event to another? I have so many photos that if I leave all of the photos expanded then you have to scroll to much up or down while trying to hang on to the photo long enough to get it where you want it. If you collapse the photos, then you cannot see them.
If you create albums and try to drag photos from existing events to the new albums, it makes no sense to have to go back and delete the photo from the place that you dragged it from. At least I think this is how it is. I may have thought it was like this and the found out that when i did go back to delete the orginal destination location, that it also deleted it in the new album.
I see where a couple of features were added to the photo editing features between the two versions, but not worth upgrading and paying the extra cost.
If it is easier than what I seem to be making it, it is because the Iphoto help has not improved either. It is still very basic and very vague as before.

If you create albums and try to drag photos from existing events to the new albums, it makes no sense to have to go back and delete the photo from the place that you dragged it from. At least I think this is how it is.
You'd be wrong. There's only one real imge file in iPhoto and that's located in the Event. All other occurances of that photo, albums, books, calendars, etc. are only virtual links to the actual file in the Event.
Albums let you group photos togeher regardless of when they were taken and what event they are in. Keywords can be applied all photos in an event by bringing fierst opening the event, bringing up the Keyword pane

selecting the first photo, clicking on the keyword you want to assign, move to the next photo with the right arrow key on the keyboard, clicking on the next keyword, etc. Takes only a minute or so. You first have to create the keywords you want to use, people's names, places, etc.
Then you can just search by keyword, create a Smart album to look for one or more keywords, etc.
iPhoto is a database driven DAM (digital asset management) application so you should learn to use it properly. A little upfront effort can save a lot of time later on. And this is how it's been for most of the version of iPhoto.

IOs 8 on iPhone 5 is a big pain

I have Apple iPhone 5, 32GB. Recently I have upgraded my iPhone to IOs 8 and I am really sorry I did that. I have been facing a lot of issues since I upgraded my phone -
1) Notifications for some of my apps are turned 'On' still I do not get the Notifications. And I know how to enable notification setting
2) If back any chance I get a miss call when my phone is in lock mode, the screen just hangs up just showing the timer. I am unable to do anything but to restart it, just like windows.
3) Some times when I try to receive a call, I am unable to do that and the ring tone just goes on and on until I force shut it, just like Windows again
4) All my apps have super slowed down, unable to close a video on facebook, have to 10 times click on done until it takes me back to facebook page again
This upgrade has been a pain

Try the following:
Create a backup of your device's data.
Reset your device's configuration:
Open Settings.
Navigate to the General → Reset section.
Press Reset all settings and then confirm the action.

You would have thought Adobe could at least do something about providing a link to the full installer to Flash when the newest update won’t install, but not bloody @#$%^& likely. It is becoming evident that they don’t really care if people install it since you would have thought by now that they would have worked all the bugs out of it since it seems I’ve been installing it every week for the past decade or there abouts.

I am not happy with Adobes service. I have been charged TWICE and my Creative Cloud is NOT working. Still says I'm on a trail version and yet my trial is up??? And THEN it tells me if have to buy it when my card has been charged two times. I'm so mad and I just want to cancel EVERYTHING with you people and get my money back. I'll just go with another service because you guys suck. I have projects I have to work on and now I have to put everything on hold because it won't work. The website it totally jacked up and doesn't make much sense at all. I would just like all my money credited back to my account or have someone help me fix this because I'm about to go off.

Sync constantly changing. BIG difference. Any sugg...

Hi guys, I have a small problem.
Lately I got interleaving turned off to increase my line speed to 8,128kbps. It kept at that for about 4 days then yesterday it went down to around 8,032. Today I tried to do a speedtest and it had gone down 7,968kbps. I then forced my router to resync with the exchange and now its gone down to 7,712kbps.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? A faulty router maybe? My connection stats are below:

This is a bit disappointing because 2 mins ago I had a 7000kbps profile and now I probably have a 6500kbps profile (Can't check for another hour because of BT Speedtester.)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have just checked my router and the sync speed has gone down even more. I haven't restarted it all day and since the last update I did, its now down to 7,584kbps. It also seems to have restarted itself automatically. You can see my router stats below:

Apparently I have the DLM monitoring my line because of excessive restarts on my router (Intentional). I was told not to restart my router otherwise it would just make things worse. I haven't all day and now its gone down even more. Before the DLM kicked in, I was getting 8,128kbps and you can clearly see why if you look at my line attenuation.
Are there any solutions to this problem? I am worried that it will keep going down and my full 8mb will perish.

IPad syncing failed - Windows 7 ..64-bit

I adquired a new iPad, this i my first Macintosh product I ever had, and since I bought it i cant sync any kind of music, video, photos, etc.. when i connected my iPad to my computer ( Alien ware, Windows 7, 64-bit) it made me kind of an account, with my name but several issues appeared in the screen:
**The iPad cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.
**The iPad cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified.
**The iPad cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found.
**The iPad cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file.
This first time my iPad was detected by itunes, but none of the syncing services was available.
I installed all updates, and then my iPad was not appearing in iTunes.
I tried all this things:
**Re-installing iTunes
**Turning off: Computer - iPad
**Restoring iPad
**Sales Store Apple Mexico
**Another USB cable
**Installed iTunes 32-bit, with compatibility mode.
And none of thing things worked at all.
Apple is not responding me anything.
Please any kind of help, I would be grateful.

iTunes version: 9.2.1.5

I hate to say this but I have never heard of anyone not having multiple problems like this- including myself when using a Windows 7 machine with any Apple product - I own 2 iPods of different flavors, an iPhone & an iPad (WiFi). Whenever I do any kind of syncing I have uneven results except fort he most basic things like getting Podcasts or transferring Music. Any software related upgades, new OS whatever is a real big pain. So what I did was to go out and buy the most inexpensive Mac and I use it for connectivity to my iStuff. You might be able to get a used Mac but they don't seem to be very available - gosh wonder why, maybe because they are so good no one gets rid of them. I only use Windows now for clients that make me use it. Good luck.

AppleTV - iTunes8 - ALL Syncing DEAD

Just an additional post to my others in the iTunes forum, incase Apple is watching this forum more or someone over here knows something the people over don't.
ON WINDOWS ONLY. Since iTunes 8 all airtunes, AppleTV sync has become very problematic. Tried all Fireware and firewall tricks...none worked. Only thing that does work is choosing "repair" under Programs/Install in control panel...and reboot. Of course, it started up again after a day or so...so, you need to do it again. Obviously, this is a big pain...since I purchase movies/tv shows on iTunes and then CAN'T sync it to my AppleTV (or use AppleTV for airtunes). If anyone has found a fix that works all the time on WINDOWS MACHINES...please post. Apple is shooting itself in the foot with this mess...since over 80% of all iTunes/AppleTV users are WINDOWS users. Makes me want to sell my AppleTV and get the Amazon/netflix box....

First ATV 2.1 destroyed my ability to stream un-synced media in Custom Sync mode. (It will work until something reboots or if it sits over night). And now unless I blow out my library connection again I am unable to sync. Getting the 3689 error. I have tried everything including the following:
Re-link the library
Restart iTunes
Restart Windows
Restart Apple Tv
All the above combined at the same time and in a 30 second delay sequence.
If I roll back to 2.0 (which my ATV just happened to ship with, I know not everyone has this option) it works fine. The 2.1 software definitely has a major networking related problem. I am slightly hesitant to blame iTunes 8 entirely, since my issue was the same on both with 2.1 and I have no issue on 7.7.1 and 8 with 2.0. However I wouldn't be suprised if it is really a combination of the two (or three if you count both versions of iTunes released in the last 3 months).

Sync stickies on MBP and MacPro and iPhone?

i have finally settled on using notational velocity (which i love) to sync data between my MBP and my MacPro and simplenote to get these to my iPhone.
can i sync stickies between all three of these device? right now these only exist on my macbookpro and this is a big pain.
new user so thanks for any help with this topic as i get the final sort going.

It's either the connection from the laptop to icloud or from icloud to iphone that's the problem. To find the answer, do the following...
Using a computer's browser log into icloud.com and then look at the contacts page. If the edits show up there, then the problem is from icloud to iphone. If edits are not there, then the problem is from laptop to icloud.
Whichever device the problem points to, verify that it is logged into the right icloud account and that Contacts is turned on. (System preferences>icloud on mac or Settings>icloud on ios device.

Extremely difficult syncing

For some reason, my ipod wont sync more than about 100 songs at a time. Ive even replaced the hard drive, thinking that was the issue, but it still doesnt work properly. I have a 4th generation ipod (non-color). More specifically, i can get my ipod to show up in itunes and start to sync, but the sync will randomly stop. I can press sync again and it will continue, but it will stop shortly after that. Makes it impossible to get my 2000+ songs loaded without extreme frustration. Can anyone help me?

I ended up solving my problem, but it's been a big pain.
I went to FileHippo and downloaded an older version of iTunes, Version 6.0.5, to be exact. Link: http://filehippo.com/download_itunes/
I uninstalled the version of iTunes I was running, which I had updated (which seemed to cause the problems) and installed the old version.
Then I deleted the iTunes Library from its folder (run a search on your computer or check in your Music folder inside the iTunes folder if you're not sure where to find it) because it is not compatible with the older version of iTunes.
After that, I added all the music back and synced my iPod, and it has worked just fine.
One note: If you're going to try this, make sure you write down the songs from any playlists you don't want to lose, because erasing the iTunes library puts you back at zero as far as music, playlists, etc.

9.0 not syncing all my music - iPod Classic

Since downloading iTunes 9.0, some of my music is not being synced with my iPod Classic. For Example, I have 6554 items in my iTunes library, but only 6511 on my iPod. I can't get those missing songs to sync! This worked fine before the 9.0 download, and I didn't change anything else. Can anyone help?

My brother is having the same problem with my old U2 iPod (4G). He has a few thousand songs in his library and a couple podcasts he subscribes to, and since upgrading to iTunes 9 (on Windows XP), only 600-ish are syncing. He doesn't use playlists, just syncs everything. I got him to try a restore and re-sync, and he ended up with even fewer songs on the iPod.
After my experiences with iTunes 9 (screwing up my smart playlists) and iPhone 3.1 (draining my battery faster and making the phone run warm), along with my brother's, I'm going to start making a habit of waiting a month or more until Apple gets its **** together with these new releases. This has been a big pain in the butt.

Latest iTunes update; iPhone sync takes a long, long time

I have a 64GB iPhone 4S, up to date with latest software. I have iTunes running on a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista 64-bit SP2; running latest update of iTunes.
I am currently doing my second iPhone sync to change out a bunch of music since the latest iTunes update. I have tons of records, and I like to switch up the tunes quite a bit. I love the 64GB iPhone; holds over 500 albums.
Both, the first time and now this time, the sync is taking forever. Seriously, as I type this the sync is now past two hours and looks to be about 60% done.
Prior to this update (both iTunes and phone), the sync took maybe 20 minutes, Nothing else has changed; same computer/operating system, no bugs or viruses. The only thing I think it can be is this latest update to iTunes; which, by the way, dumped all my albums when the update was done. I had to add all the folders again; that took a while and a lot of album covers were lost. Big pain in the butt, basically.
I don't know if you Apple people are listening, but this is eroding my confidence in your brand. Will I spring for a MacBook like I was planning? Hmmm...

No solution - just the same problem.
My wife's 4s (iOS 7.0.2) has been hanging at syncing Contacts on iTunes 11.1 (iMac; Mountain Lion) the past several days. It never gets past "Syncing Contacts".
Doesn't anyone have any advice. I've hard re-booted her iPhone; re-booted the iMac.
We don't have this problem with either my iPhone 5 (7.0.2), her 2nd-gen iPad or her old iPot Touch.
We share the same contacts and calendars across all of these devices and the iMac.
