Syncing iTunes to iPod is SLOOOOOOW

I recently installed iTunes 7 (WinXP) and now when I dock my iPod it takes FOREVER to sync up. I'm talking like 20 minutes to update my iPod with just one new playlist! It is ridiculous.
Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? It did not happen until I installed iTunes 7, it used to sync up in lightning speed.
Windows XP   Running iTunes 7.0.0.70 with iPod Photo 30 GB

I'm experiencing the same problem but it began before I upgraded to itunes 7. I tried the upgrade to see if it would help but no luck. The new computer solution suggested might work but sounds like $$$. I don't think it's a USB issue since it was working fine before. My 20g is just over a year old and it has had tons of updating issues, it always seems to work out but it's such a time waster trying to figure it out each time. It's never the same.

  • Error code -69 when trying to sync iTunes and iPod

When syncing to iTunes, I receive error code -69, and will not complete the sync. Please help. Using Windows XP.

Error -69 means the song/s that was selected for syncing is un-usable, there should be an error message that tell you which song is un-usable or corrupted. You have to re-download the song from the source or delete it.
If re-download still does not work, convert it using iTunes to iPod version.
    Or select the song ,
click Advanced on the top Menu
    Select Create iPod version.
    Then sync again
    Good Luck!

  • Syncing iTunes to iPod?

I have had a crash due to a virus in 'my documents' It is empty now.
My iTunes library was also in there. So I 've lost everything! Disaster!
My iPod-photo still contains the songs and photo's that I wish to save.
Is it possible to sync. iTunes to the iPod instead of the other way around?
In this way I might be able to save my files.

  • Fully synced iTunes and iPod show different quantity of songs

Here's an odd little one that I hope somebody may be able to help with. iTunes and my 80Gb iPod Classic are fully synced (I've just synced them again to be sure), but while the Music tab on iTunes is showing that I have 2766 songs, on the iPod it only shows that 2740 are there.
I'm wondering where the other 26 songs are on the iPod, when both are fully synced. I must admit I haven't gone through every single song on both of them to try and find where the 'missing' 26 are.
Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue of the iPod counter simply being wrong? Or are there really 26 songs whach have, for some unknown reason, not synced to my iPod?

How many music videos do you have? When I first got my iPod I had this same problem and it turned out that the music videos showed up under the music tab. When I'd check the music count on my iPod it was less by exactly the number of music videos I had. The music videos on the iPod were in the Video section.

  • Sync itunes to ipod

the computer i use everyday for all of my ipod needs has gone to ****....i opened itunes only to find that all of my music, videos, movies, photos etc are gone...plugged in my ipod the same day and said something about how my ipod didnt match the computer and if i wanted to transfer and sync....plain english, how do i get the songs and etc from my ipod back onto itunes because there is nothing in itunes when i open the program up

      Windows XP

Connect your iPod and when you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions

Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Problems syncing, iTunes says iPod is synced to another PC

    Hi,
As stated above I'm having problems syncing my iPod touch 5G. It's been a few months since I synced and backed up to my PC but when I connected the iPod to iTunes yesterday, after doing an initial sync, it warned me that the iPod was synced to another computer and that I would have to delete everything in order to sync with this computer (which I've been using for 18 months now with no previous problems when connecting to iTunes; my old PC no longer works so that isn't an option). I noticed after this happened that Music, Photos, and Books were not set to sync, but they had been previously, and I haven't changed anything other than update iTunes to v.11.4, since last backing up a few months ago. I also updated the iPod to v.7.1.2 yesterday too, so could this have any bearing on the problem?
Also I have 9 books which were purchased on the iPod from the iBook store, these are not yet showing in iTunes, and there is no option to Transfer Purchases from iPod to iTunes. If I try to turn sync on in the Books tab, I get the same message as above.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received, Thanks!

From that message it appears you did not restore from backup on this computer/iTunes library.
I just updated/restored my two iOS 7/8 devices that were previously synced to my old computer and they are fine. I had to agree with the option to make this the syncing computer.
With regard to the Backup I selected this option from File/Devices in iTunes, and then restored from that backup, having already synced a few times with this iTunes library, or so I thought!
Are you saying I have to allow all files to be removed in order to re-sync with this computer? I'm happy to do this but worried I'll lose my app data. I'm away for a few days now, so won't be able to sort this until the weekend, many thanks for your replies, they've been a great help!

  • No Longer Able to Sync itunes to ipod

I recently needed to re-install Tiger. After re-installing, I ran all on-line upgrades to ensure I had the latest software for my mac. When attempting to open itunes, I was prompted to upgrade my version of QuickTime, which I did. I was then able to successfully open itunes; however, when I attempt to sync it to my ipod, I receive the message "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on... Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the itunes store?" I then click on "Authorize," and am prompted for my AppleID and password. After entering this information, I get the message "This computer is already authorized," with "Including this one, you have authorized one computer of your available 5." I click "OK" then the cycle of messages starts again. My ipod is never synced. I tried suggestions I've read on the internet and your website, trying things like "Deauthorize All" and clicking on a purchased song. All my songs have one and only account name associated with them and they are the correct name. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. Has anyone come up with a workable solution? TIA!

I did as you suggested. I closed itunes and ran Disk Utility, then repaired permissions. This did indeed repair permissions on a variety of apps including itunes. I then restarted my mac, opened itunes, attached my ipod (which is and has been recognized by itunes), but still experienced the same cycle of authorization errors/messages. Any other thoughts?

  • Error message when syncing Itunes with Ipod

I bought a new laptop and it has Vista. I have downloaded Itunes 8 and updated QT.
When I try and update my Ipod it wants to delete all files and replace as it used to be synced with my old PC.
I get part way through and get an error message -1303 and then the sync terminates. It did this with only 300 tracks from the 2600 available to download.
Any ideas what the error number may relate to? I have searched all over apple site but no easy reference to this.
    Any help much appreciated

  • Spinning wheel of death when try to sync itunes with ipod

I've had no bother from syncing my ipod until today and then for no reason I now keep getting the spinning wheel of death.
When my ipod is connected and on auto sync mode it gets recognised, says it's syncing and then totally freezes. The only way to get out of this is to manually remove the ipod and force quit itunes.
I've tried starting itunes without auto sync on, which works ok until you decide to move any music content across. For some strange reason it was ok about transferring podcasts but just refuses to transfer music content.
I've uninstalled itunes 9 and reinstalled with no effect. I've restored the ipod to factory settings which all it's done is now cleaned the ipod of all content and won't transfer anything. I'm using a mac with OSX Snow Leopard.
    Can anyone help?

I think your problem is different to the OP's - in your case, did you check the format of the drive before you began using it? It's possible that it's formatted as NTFS or FAT32 out of the box, and you need to reformat to Macintosh Extended.
But this wouldn't apply to the OP's as he already had been using his drive for a while with no problems, although maybe permissions and/or ownership got scrambled.
