Syncing iWeb on 2 different Macs

Is it possible to sync the data in iWeb across two different Macs?
I've created an elaborate website with it on my Macbook Air and want that data to sync on the Mac Pro. If there's a way to do it, I can't find it.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Login to your MobileMe account via....
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Movies/JW-Video-Player.html
Click the iDisk icon to get to the folders. Click home and then select a folder - I use the Web folder. Click the upload arrow to upload a zip of your domain file.
If you have a paid MobileMe subscription, you can use Back to My Mac to connect to your other Mac computers over the Internet.
Using Back to My Mac you can access all of the computers you use with your MobileMe subscription. You can share files and use Screen Sharing to control the remote computer from anywhere you are connected to the Internet.
To use Back to My Mac:
On each computer you want to use with Back to My Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click MobileMe.
Make sure your MobileMe member name and password are entered correctly on the Account pane, and then click Sign In if necessary.
Click Back to My Mac, and then click Start if Back to My Mac isn’t already on.
If there are no sharing services turned on, click Open Sharing Preferences and select the services you want to use, such as File Sharing and Screen Sharing.
To display the computer in the sidebar of a Finder window, open Finder preferences, click Sidebar, and then select Back To My Mac in the Shared section.
To connect to your Back to My Mac enabled computers, click the disclosure triangle next to Shared in the left sidebar of a Finder window, click the computer you want to use, and then click Connect As or Share Screen.
Click Stop on the Back to My Mac pane of MobileMe preferences to stop using Back to My Mac.
Back to My Mac requires a router that supports NAT Port Mapping Protocol (NAT-PMP) or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) in order to share services.

  • Can i upload to iWeb from to different macs

A couple of weeks ago I bought me an MacBook, i have a iMac too.
When I uploaded some pictures from the MacBook I found to my suprise
(bad suprise) that the only fotos left on my web were the ones from the MacBook, fixed it later.
So I wonder, is there any way that i can work my web pages from the 2 Macs?
    Greetings from the Canary Islands.

Yes. See this Apple document: iWeb: Publish to your .Mac account from more than one computer.

  • Syncing iCal on two different Macs

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac and would love to sync my calendars but don't know how. Can someone help me? And no, I don't have access to iDisk, i.e., MobileMe.
    Appreciatively,
    Ron

DropBox is fairly straight-forward, see here: [http://mac-curious.com/2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox/|http://mac-curious.com /2009/08/sync-ical-using-dropbox>
In practice, that only syncs desktops and doesn't help with your phone. It's also a little dangerous if you have multiple computers opening and modifying the files in Dropbox at the same time (as far as I know, iCal isn't designed to recognize when the files are being changed by another program while it's running).
A better idea is to use Google Calendar. In that scenario, your reference calendar is Google, and everything syncs with it. You need to first make an account on calendar.google.com. After you've made the account, you can create multiple calendars, share them with others, and access calendars they share with you.
Follow these instructions here for adding your Google calendars to iCal: [http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical|h ttp://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#ical]
They work just like local calendars, but the data is copied to/from the Google servers.
Your iPhone also has built-in CalDAV support for connecting to Google calendar. On the phone, go to the Setting application and click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Click on Add Account... then "Other". Click on Add CalDAV Account and provide your Google calendar info (server is "www.google.com", username is your e-mail address, password is your Google account password).
If you use Google calendar, you can have several calendars in iCal / on your iPhone. When you modify a calendar, the client changes the local copy and the copy on the server at the same time (and those changes propagate to everyone with access to that calendar, including everyone you've shared a calendar with).
For what it's worth, you can do basically the same thing with Google and Address Book. I haven't set that up yet, but I'm considering it.

  • How to publish from iWeb to two different .mac accounts

my household has two separate .macs account and we want to publish from iWeb to the two different accounts which I cannot figure out. thanks

I discovered I could duplicate Domain.sites2 (~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2). I named one "Domain de.sites2", and the other "Domain daru.sites2". Then I opened daru's site and deleted de's, then I opened de's and deleted daru's, and I have two separate sites (with aliases in the dock) that I presume I'll be able to upload separately. Once I get .Mac sub groups created...
If it works, it saves the hassle of creating other user accounts, since only my wife and I use the computer. Right now, .Mac is telling me I can't create a sub account in my wife's name because she already has a .Mac ID (and a two month free trial account she had to agree to, to join the group) for a group site I manage. I don't think she ought to be required to have a separate identity every time she logs into .Mac.

  • How do I sync multiple iPhones to different Macs and still share calendars?

In my household, we have 4 macs, 2 iPhones and 2 iPods (Touch). We also have a Family MobileMe account. What I would like to do is sync some services to ALL the macs and devices and some services to the mac and device of ONLY THAT USER. The set up would be this:
ALL (all the macs and devices would share these services)
    Contacts
    Calendars
USER based (1 mac syncs to one device ONLY these services)
    Bookmarks
    Dashboard Widgets
    Dock Items
    Keychains
    Mail Accounts
    Mail Rules
    Signatures
    Smart Mailboxes
    Notes & Preferences
My goal is to be able to add an event to my calendar and have it appear in ALL of my family's calendars (same with contacts) via the "cloud." However, I do not want my bookmarks appearing on my son's computer or my wife's mail appearing on my iPhone, etc.
If anyone, knows how to set this up, I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Thank you.

Sync them to the same iTunes library and select to sync to the same Calendar on the Info tab in your iTunes sync settings.  Or, sync them to the same iCloud account and turn on Calendar syncing in Settings>iCloud.

  • Using iWeb on a different Mac for the same website?

I designed, published and am regularly updating a site using iWeb on my iMac at home. A friend is going to help me with the design, and he will be doing the work from his Mac at home.
How do I do this? Is there a particular folder I need to give him that has the files that iweb uses to publish the site? And once his work is done, do I transfer the new files back to my iMac?
    thanks!

Is there a particular folder I need to give him that has the files that iweb uses to publish the site?
It's ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/, where ~ is the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon.
And once his work is done, do I transfer the new files back to my iMac?
Yes. A Domain package can be opened in iWeb regardless of its location by double-clicking it in the Finder.

  • Can I update iWeb from a different Mac

My MacBookPro went down last week. I need to update our website, can I do it from the MacBook?
If so, how? I use iWeb & I think I publish to Moible Me, but I am really not sure at this point?

What caused the old Mac to crash?  If it wasn't a disk crash but a mother board or other component crash you should be able to remove the hard drive out of it, connect it to the new Mac and save your files.

  • Sync iPhone with 2 different Macs?

How can I effectively sync the contacts and calendars with Mac Book Pro and my Mac Pro desktop with my iPhone and still keep the iTunes content from my desktop? Every time I attempt to sync with Mac Book Pro it wants to replace the iTunes content.

Syncing music, video, photos and podcasts can only sync from one computer.
If you try to sync these items with a second computer, you get the message about erasing the content on your iphone.
However, syncing contacts and calendars can be from multiple computers.
If you decide to sync contacts and calendars with a second computer, make sure contacts and or calendars are the only things checked. If any music, video, photos or podcasts are checked, you will get the erase error message.
When you sync contacts and/or calendars with another computer itunes will try to merge the data.
So, if you do this often, you end up with the same data on each computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sync folder on 2 different macs

    Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if it's possible to Sync the folder 'Documents' on my Mac Pro & my MacBook Pro? So basically when i add something to the folder on one mac, it appears in the other as well.
I do use Dropbox, but i don't like having dropbox on my MacBook Pro because it's my professional work mac, so i like to keep it free from 3rd party stuff if i can.
Any help and advice would really be appreciated,
    Thank you,
    Elastic

Hi!  For syncing I can recommend Chronosync:
    http://www.econtechnologies.com/pages/cs/chrono_overview.html
Very powerful (customisable), and you can install ChronoAgent to avoid having to mount external locations.  Traffic goes over your local network, and not externally as dropbox does.  ChronoAgent also has the ability to encrypt data transfers.
They also have free demo trials..
    Hope this helps!
    Derek.

  • Working on an iWeb project from different macs?

I have created and iWeb page with my G5 and am going out of town for 10 days. I would like to continue updating my site with my iBook G4. But I can't find the iWeb project files to transfer to my iBook. There surely has to be a way to do this.
    iBook G4 & iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   iWeb 1.1.2

    Hi Jason,
First off you want to backup your iweb sites. Go to the HD, your home folder (with the house icon) library - application support - iweb. Inside this folder you will find a domain file, back this up to another HD. Once you have it backed up you can make a copy of this file. Put this file in the same folder on your ibook and you will have your sites there to work on. Good lucke

  • Sync itune between two different mac

I have been using a powerbook pro for the past 3 years and built up my own itune library during the time. Now that I have got the new imac, is there anyway that I can sync the songs between the two macs that I have?

I looked into using it, tried it and it didn't do anything but waste my time. I would NOT recommend this utility! After selecting and unselecting amongst the jumble of song, podcasts, movies, tv shows mixed up by title, author or other random titles, I told it to Copy and after a wait for the progress bar to complete it finished and I found the only thing it did was create a SynchoTunes folder inside my destination iTunes folder. Nothing was copied.

  • Is it possible to edit my website  with web '08 from two different Macs?

Is it possible to work on iWeb on two different MACS?
I've attempted to move my domain.Site folder from my laptop and place it on my Power PC in the iWeb folder, but I continue to receive a familiar error message can't read the Domain.Site.
    Does anyone have any answers?
    Both are running iweb 08'

You could make the file available for download via your public folder and when one user updates it they could change the title to include the date of editing and upload it back to the Public folder and delete the original file. . To do that you'd want to archive (zip) the file (control-click on the file and select "Make archive of file xxxx" so it would upload without problems. Not as convenient but doable. You would just have to make sure to identify the date of editing so there would be no problem.
