Syncing loses place in Audiobook

I use M4B type audiobooks and there is no problem with the iPod portion of my iPhone 4 keeping my place. However, when I attach it to my computer and the iPhone syncs with iTunes, then I loose my place in the book. How do I avoid this? If I uncheck the audiobook files in iTunes, won't it just remove them from the iPhone? How do I sync my iPhone and not loose my place in my audiobook.

My solution was to purchase Podtrapper. The other nice nice feature is a sleep timer.
Numerous devices and my old Android phone never kept its place in audio books- drove me nuts.

Wireless sync of place in audiobook?

I listen to audiobooks on my iPhone 4S and my iPad1. Since upgrading to Lion, OS5 and iCloud, I've noticed that my iPad somehow knows where I stopped listening to the audiobook on my phone, and will start playing at exactly that spot. Very nice!! However, my iPhone does not know when I've listened to more of the book on my iPad, and does not automatically update to the place I left off on the iPad.
I would like to be able to have it be a two-way process with both iPhone and iPad staying up to date with each other. The problem is that I can't figure out how this is happening. (Its not a manual sync with iTunes, as iPad will update my place without being synced physically.)
My question is by what process does iPad know where I left off listening to an audiobook on my iPhone? I assume this is somehow happening wirelessly through iCloud, but I can't figure out what settings enabled this on iPad, so that I can have iPhone do the same thing.
Can anyone help by explaining what settings are controlling this phenomenon?

9700 Loses Place in Audiobook

I like listening to audio books on my phone but there is a really annoying problem.
The audio books are lots of long audio files. If I leave the book on pause for too long or receive a call the blackberry completely loses my place.
This means I have to go through several files scanning to try and find where I was last listening.
Every other phone/mp3 player I have ever had has always kept the place of the last played file until the phone is turned off.
Is there any way I can get my 9700 to not lose my place when I pause for too long or receive a call?
(It is running the most recent updates)

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

1st Gen iTouch loses my place in audiobooks after manual sync

i checked this forum for this question and found a few hits from a few months ago, but wanted to see if anyone has anything new to add.
i just updated my iTouch to 3.1.3 about a week ago from 2.? (whatever the last update was before the version 3 rollout). Now if i'm listening to an audiobook or podcast and i manually sync my iTouch, it loses my place and goes back to the beginning of the file. Before i updated, it worked great and always remembered my spot before and after sync'ing. i've tried going to Get Info -> Options on various podcasts and audiobooks to see if the "Remember playback position" option is checked; it is, and the option is greyed out.
Is anyone else (still) experiencing this problem? Is it fixable, and if so how?

Firefox Sync loses bookmarks and places them in wrong folders

One version before updating to the version 31.0 of the Firefox, I began using Firefox Sync. I use Firefox mainly on my desktop computer, which has Windows 8 as an operating system. Occasionally I use Windows XP on a laptop, which also has the latest Firefox installed.
If I add bunch of bookmarks while using just the Windows 8 machine, Firefox Sync won't lose any of the bookmarks, but if I use the other computer's Firefox for a few moments and while doing that add bunch of bookmarks, problems arise:
desktop browser either a) lose all of the bookmarks from folders, which I had added last, but folders themselves are still there (they are empty) or b) if the bookmarks don't totally vanish, they are magically moved to a wrong folder (source folders don't get deleted).
This happens while not touching the desktop browser at all. Sometimes bookmarks appear again like they were never really gone, but I'm not sure does this happen every time as in most cases nothing appears after 10 minutes of waiting.
From technical point of view it sounds like there could be either counting or folder-id related error, but who would code something so silly like getting the placement of a folder in a hierarchy by counting? If it is id-related.. well, that would be equally awful. Also, there should be something wrong with the syncing itself, but is it really normal that bookmarks totally vanish for some time, before (maybe) appearing again later?
Or then.. I have an unknown remote user, who manages my bookmarks, while I'm not watching..?

Seems like things tend to get worse seemingly automatically as my desktop browser constantly merges the latest bookmarks resulting to few empty folders and one with the latest bookmarks (e.g. after adding 3 new folders and putting few bookmarks to all of them) . This happens only in the root of a bookmark hierarchy and thus I can add any amount of folders and bookmarks to the existing subfolders without them getting messed up. Bookmarks residing out of any folder seem to stay intact. I haven't tested what happens if I add subfolders to folders I added last.
The messing up of bookmarks happens with a delay, so I can happily add lots of bookmarks for an hour or more without anything suspicious happening. I can even close the browser and reopen it. I'm not sure what the actual delay is. Maybe few hours, maybe more. No involvement of other devices required.
I've tried to reinstall the browser by uninstalling it first which included deleting of the "Firefox" directories from the following directories: "AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\" and "AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox"
That didn't help either. I guess I could try to use another Firefox account for syncing bookmarks, but I don't have very high hopes toward trying such.
Simplest reasons might sometimes be the right ones, so in this case I actually could have a remote user, who does some "evil tweaking" to my bookmarks. Or would somebody claim that after being few years in development the Firefox Sync still can not handle the most basic functionality (keeping bookmarks in folders) -- for some people? I read that there are others, who have had similar problems, but that doesn't rule out the possibility this is something else than just a technical glitch.

Loses place in playlist after disconnecting

I tried searching for this topic and didn't come across any discussions.
Every time I sync my iPod Touch on my computer and then disconnect, it loses my place in the playlist I was listening to. The same thing happens when I disconnect the iPod from the USB port in my car. Am I doing something wrong or is this a known issue?

Probably only people who were interested in this inappropriate (to your problem) thread that you've just threadjacked.
Reset the iPod or wait for it to drain the battery. You may be OK and get away with it, but you might find this abrupt disconnect causes you other problems. Post again [on a new or at least a more appropriate thread] if you need further help.

Synching place in audiobooks between multiple iPods/iPhones/iPads

Is it possible to have your place in an audiobook by synched via the "cloud" in such a way that you can use several mobile devices and pick up where you left off no matter which mobile device you were using? This might also be useful for movies or iBooks as well.

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply (this option isn't available for 1st or 2nd generation iPod shuffles which aren't designed for use with multiple computers). The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

Exchange Active Sync loses email address, phone when sync contacts

I have a Treo 680 running Palm OS Garnet 5.4.9 and Versamail 3.5.2 Software version TREO680-1.03-CNG. We just implemented Exchange 2007 and the phone syncs great for the email and calendar. But, contacts are flaky. If I add an email address to a contact on the Exchange side, it never comes to the device. Instead, the email gets deleted on the Exchange side. If I add it on the Treo side, the contact updates. It appears that the contact is a one way sync and the Palm always wins! Email and Calendar are syncing both ways?? I am syncing the tasks via the USB and that works fine as well, Any ideas why Contacts seems to be one sided???

The Contacts should sync both ways, your case might be contact database issue.
if you decide to fix it do these steps:
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE PROCEEDING
1. Export your data as a .CSV fie by:
a. click file in outlook
b. click import and export
c. export to a file
d. comma separated values (windows)
e. highlight your main contacts then hit next
f. hit browse and locate a directory to save your file then hit next
g. hit map custom fields, then hit default map, hit OK then, hit finish.
After exporting Delete all your contacts, If your not comfortable with that copy all your contacts to another folder. But make sure you empty out your Contacts folder.
On the Phone side you need to delete your email (EAS) account, so that it will also clean out your contacts. (double check if contacts are deleted, if not, a hardreset must be done)
Bottom Line. Both Outlook and Phone Contacts must be cleared out. before proceeding.
When contacts on the phone are gone, set up your email (EAS) again (at this point no contacts should exist on the device and outlook)
After sync and emails and calendar are transferred, try putting a dummy data both on the phone and outlook contacts, Sync twice then check if data transferred on both places.
(there is no reason for it not to)
If data in contacts are syncing Import back the contacts to outlook by:
a. click file in outlook
b. click import and export
c. Import from another program or file
d. comma separated values (windows)
e. Hit browse then locate where the file was exported, highlight then hit OK
f. Leave it in "Allow Duplicates" then hit next
g. Highlight your main contacts then hit next.
This should import back all you data, after thats done try to do another Sync..

ITunes won't sync all of my Audiobooks...

I cannot sync all of my iTunes audiobooks with my iPhone. When I look at my audiobooks in iTunes some of the titles are gray and others are black. They will both play on my computer but only the black ones will transfer to my iphone.
Any ideas why some aren't syncing?

How do you sync one or two Audiobooks?

I have about 180 books on my computer most downloaded from Audible.com. I only want the few on my IPHONE that I haven't yet listened to. I can't copy individual ones to IPHONE like I could on any of my IPODS, and I don't want to delete all the ones I have listened to from my computer. How can I sync "some" audiobooks with IPHONE. I cut and pasted a few to Party Shuffle play list, but I doubt that will work. Any suggestions?

How to sync selection of my Audiobooks to my ipod?

Despite de-selecting (via "tick box" next to specific audiobooks) - every time I try to sync to ipod - iTunes wants to sync all my audiobooks - I use itunes 8.2.1. Help - it appears I get all my audiobooks or nothing - this can't be right. What am i doing wrong?

I am having the very same issue: I only want to keep a couple of audiobooks on my iPhone at a time. I cannot sync just one or two by 'ticking' them.
The labour-intensive workaround that I'm currently using is to sync only "Selected playlists, authors, and genres", and then choose the music and authors I want to sync. The problem is that I still get all the books for an author, rather than just the one book from that author that I want.
Any suggestions?

I've uploaded songs to my iTunes library on my MAC but I can no longer upload to my phone from my MAC. Since I've uploaded all of the periodic upgrades after the automatic sync takes place I can no longer find my iPhone on my MAC

Since I've downloaded all of the "automatic upgrades" for both my iPhone and iTunes, once the "automatic sync" finishes when I connect my iPhone to my MAC, I have no way of finding my device and no way to mark new songs I've added to my music library on my MAC so they will automatically be uploaded to my iPhone the next time I connect it and do the automatic sync...

To repeat, I can still sync everything just fine from my computer to my old IPhoone 3S and to my ancient iPad, buit not to the new phone. I have tried every imaginable combination of WiFi and iCloud settingson or off, and syncing the entire library or just specific playlists and such. I am at a loss.
Please accept my apology if I sounded elementary to you. One never knows what level of expertise he is posting to. My thought based on the message I'm focusing on here is that IF in fact you are able to sync just fine with ancient devices but not your new device I would be thinking strongly about updates to either itunes or to your OS.
