Syncing Mail with personal website.

Hello everyone, I use MobileMe to host my small business website, but I want to register a personal domain with register.com. If all I get from them is the domain, am I correct in assuming I can use the register.com domain with my MobileMe website? And then, once that's accomplished, can I sync the personal e-mail register.com gives my domain with my apple mail? What I mean is, if my website is GaryOldman.com, and my e-mail is [email protected], can I have Apple Mail receive whatever the other one receives? Sorry for the silly noob question, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Tim

You can have your domain point to your MobileMe website provided register.com will let you add a cname DNS record to your domain (I'd be surprised if they didn't).
Email's a bit trickier. You might be best off using Google's App service on your domain. It will give you a GMail like experience but with your own domain instead of gmail.com. And just like normal GMail you can check your mail from Apple's Mail.app.

  • How do I sync Mail with Outlook and Gmail in browser?

I really like the Mail app in OS X, but I've noticed that it's not synced with the browser version of my email accounts, so anything I do in Mail (e.g. read an email, delete/trash it, etc) is only reflected within the app and not in my browser.
Just in case I didn't explain that properly: For example, if I read an email in Mail, and then switch to my Outlook account in Safari to check if that email has been marked as read, it would still appear as unread. If I delete and trash and email in Mac, that same email appears exactly where it used to be in Outlook, completely untouched.
This bothers me for two reasons. One, even if I were to stick with Mail and not touch my Outlook/Gmail accounts in Safari again, I still wouldn't like the idea of my inbox being all messy if I were ever to log back in. Two, Mail doesn't seem to have any options to create folders and subfolders as far as I'm aware, so my emails which are very neatly organized in Outlook are all lumped together in Mail's inbox. So even though Mail is a neat little app, I still have Outlook and Gmail bookmarked.
I'd like to know if there's a way to sync Mail with my email accounts in-browser, so that any changes I make in the app also show up when I log into my actual accounts? Maybe I'm just missing something or if this is not possible at all, please let me know. Thank you!

You have to set those accounts up as IMAP. Right now you probably have them set up as POP3 accounts.
Pop3 account are one way. You download your mail to your computer and send mail from your computer and it all stays on that particular computer. Imap stores everything on the mail providers server. Incoming and outgoing mail is always on the imap server and can be gotten on multiple devices. All sent mail is store on the server also and can be viewed from multiple devices.
With outlook that might not be possible. Not sure if individual outlook accounts can use imap. I do know that the office365 side can as that is what my company uses and some people are using macs and other email program other then ms outlook.

  • Syncing Mail with Word attachments without the internet?

Is there a way to sync email with Word doc. attachments with a desktop, via a usb cable, without the desktop having an internet connection?
The setup is an iphone that syncs mail with a work computer that is internet connected. At home there is no internet accept Edge; i.e. iPhone gets internet but the desktop does not. I would like to use the iphone to move Word docs from emails back and forth to the desktop. I.e. someone emails me with a word doc attachment, (ii) Can I then sync (download) the attachment onto my home computer via a USB cable, edit the document? and then (iii) sync (upload) the edited word document back to the iPhone (which will then sync with my work computer via the Edge connection.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey Tooschaye,
iTunes will sync the email account settings to the iPhone, it does not sync the actual emails or attachments.
You should be able to find a few applications on the App Store which will let you store files on your iPhone. Then you can transfer the files to your desktop. I believe most of these apps require the devices be on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • I'm trying to sync Contribute with my website...with no luck

    Hi,
Can anyone guide me on how I can sync Contribute with my website?  We have two administrators that edit the site and I am trying to sync my Contribute with the existing website so that I dont override change that have already been made.
Any suggestions on how I can do this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Typically in contribute, you have editable and non-editable areas that are set up with a template. The non-editable areas could be the header, footer, custom navigation areas and other items that don't change from one page to the next.
Editable areas would be that main body of the page that holds content specific to that page.
Now, if they aren't using Dreamweaver templates then it could be set up any other number of ways.
So, if the area isn't editable in Contribute, then you will need the site administrators to do it since it would require a change to the template files. If you can edit it, then it may not be a templated site and yes, your edits would overwrite what was there before.
I would really suggest having a conversation with the site administrators to familiarize yourself with your specific site setup.

  • POP3 Email problem with personal website

I'm ready to hurl my iphone out the nearest window....
I have tried and tried to set up my email and cannot get it to work. Let me rephrase that... Cannot get it to work anymore.
My personal website is dancingwiththewind.com. My incoming & outgoing servers are both mail.dancingwiththewind.com. I'm 9000% sure that my username and password are both correct. If using Outlook Express, I have zero problems. With the iphone, i get incoming mail, it seems but cannot send anything out. I get an error message of "connection to outgoing mail server mail.dancingwiththewind.com Failed"
Here's how I got it to work before..
I chose to sync my iPhone with my home computers email which was a Bellsouth account that I unfortunately no longer have. After doing so, my bellsouth email worked fantastic on my iPhone. I simply changed the username, passwords and server names to my dancingwiththewind info and wahlah! My dancingwiththewind email all of a sudden worked.
This was all good until the other day when I had already gotten rid of Bellsouth and deleted it out of my Outlook Express and I accidentally synced my iPhone with my computers email again. Now I'm back to square one. I can't get crap to send out. I've double checked with the company that provides me with webspace and everything is kosher on that end. I've been through a out 20 pages on this forum, trying to get some insight but to no avail.
    Can anyone help??

Wow, you guys are quick to answer...
The authentication is set to password and I'm positive that the password is correct.
My Internet host is IPower Web. They host my outgoing mail. I do not have an ISP other than this IPhone.
99% of the time, i am on the Edge network.
Just so you guys know, i called Apple. They told me to change my outgoing server to cwmx.com and erase any other settings that were already in. Wah lah! It works now. Still doesnt explain why the other doesnt work though.
Thanks so much for your input!

  • Cannot sync mail with iPhone after iTunes 11.3 update

  • IPad will not sync mail with iTunes

    Good evening,
My first generation iPad (16GB iOS 5.0.1) has stopped syncing correctly with my MacBook Air. If I plug my iPad in, iTunes will load, recognise the iPad and begin to sync. However, It always hangs indefinitely when it begins to sync mail. I have only one mail account setup on my MacBook (pop). I have performed a hard reset on the iPad which has made no difference and I am at a loss as to what I should try on the MacBook side of things. I should add that if I uncheck the 'mail accounts' option in the sync settings tab in iTunes, my iPad will sync brilliantly. Also, if I delete the mail account from my iPad, it makes no difference. It is the same whether trying to sync via wi-fi or cable.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    -Tom

Scrap that, it seems to have self remedied

Apple® Mail lets you check your Workspace Email accounts on your desktop.
This article uses information from Mac OS X 10.9.5, but previous versions use similar settings.
NOTE: After adding multiple email accounts to Apple Mail, you can toggle between them using the sidebar in the left.
BEFORE YOU START: To set up Apple Mail with your email, you need to know your POP or IMAP email server settings and ports. To find them, go to the Email Setup Center and write down the information that displays under Email Server Settings.
If you cannot log in to the Email Setup Center, it's possible that you have an Office 365 email address. If you do, see Setting up Office 365 in Apple Mail.
Apple Mail 10.9 and greater will not set up POP accounts with our Workspace Email. If your account does not offer IMAP support, we recommend upgrading to an account that does, using another email client, or using our Web-based email.
To Use Apple Mail with Your Email
    Launch Mail.
From the Mail menu, select Add Accounts.
Select Add Other Mail Account, and then click Continue.
Complete the following fields, and then click Create:

Enter the outgoing server name listed in Email Setup Center.
    User Name
    Enter your email address.
    Password
    Enter your email account's password.
That's it. Go ahead and check your email. If you don't see any messages, click Get Mail. To make sure you can send messages, try composing an email and sending it to yourself.
If you're not receiving email messages or you can't send messages, see Troubleshooting Apple Mail Setup. Don't worry. There are a few things that can happen during the setup process. We'll help you investigate and fix them.

  • Is it possible for 10.6.8 to sync mail with my ipad and iphone5?

I notice that all my mail is different from MacBook Air, iPad, and iPhone 5.
My iphone and ipad are on icloud.  Even they don't sync.  My ipad shows 55; my iphone shows 62, and my MacBook Air shows 66.  So I can never trust that I have all my email unless I check all 3 devices.
The MacBook Air is still 10.6.8, and under system preferences, icloud of course is not listed -- it's still the obsolete mobile me.
My iPad does not have OS7 on it, because after putting it on iPhone 5, I have chosen not to update my iPad. I don't know what the version before OS7 was, but that is what is on my iPad.  If I look under General > I see Version, so I'm assuming that is the version of OS on iPad, which shows 6.1.3.
I think that's all the info you need??? SO is there a way to sync all 3 so that my email is the same on all devices?
I did test a SYNC with my NOTES, from ipad and iphone, and they work fine.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Just wondering if it will be possible to buy Lion direct from the Apple web site w/o using the App store?
You can install it in other means.
Apple isn't placing draconian DRM or anything on Lion, just making the download through MAS. Which of course one as to register and pay for the download.
Don't know if I'd want to trash the App Store if I never use it, but who knows it might be the only avenue in the near future????
Steve said MAS won't be the only option to install programs on a Mac.
"Pro" users won't go for that anyway, they need to be able to install programs and such on location, without a Internet connection or where it's very slow.
Apple is just taking advantage of high bandwidth, but high bandwidth isn't everywhere and data caps are ever increasing everywhere we look.
But this will help you install Lion anywhere.

Rememebr only Snow Leopard users have to upgrade through MAS somehow
Lion comes on the boot drive, with a recovery partition on new Mac's supposedly.

  • Can't sync mail with Yahoo mail

I want to transfer my Yahoo contacts to Apple's mail program. I checked "synchronize with Yahoo" in my Address Book Preferences. I also went to Isync preferences and checked all there, including "enable syncing on my computer." The next thing I'm supposed to do is hit the "Sync now" button from pull down preferences but I don't have a Sync Now button. I don't want to select devices because I don't want to sync a device. Basically, I can't figure out how to get the Isync program to sync now.

iSync itself is only for syncing Contacts and Calendars to non-Apple mobile phones via a USB or Bluetooth connection. However the iSync application does provide access to a couple of settings that affect system-wide syncing.
To turn on the Sync menu, open iSync's Preferences, and then check the *Show status in menu bar* option

  • Syncing mail with io7

Since I have downloaded io7 for both my iPad and iPhone my mail has only let me sync a maximum on 1 months mail. I want to be able to sync all my mail on certain folders. Is this possible? Especially as it is now impossible to search you email with any ease with the new operating system.

This issue has been a recurring problem for me since late October 2013 when I first installed OX 9 Mavericks.  It has continued after installing OSX 9.1.  I have 3 Macs all running OSX 9.1.  The same issues occurs on all my Macs.  My wife and I have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads all running iOS 7.0.4.
From time to time Mail on OSX devices stops fetching new mail messages.  iOS devices continue to receive new messages.  These new message “Blackouts” last several hours.  They end either by quitting and restarting Mail or by doing nothing.  During the Blackouts the Activity window shows no activity except when sending mail.  Sending mail works normally during the Blackouts.
Mail read on iOS devices is not marked as read on OSX devices.
Mail read on iOS devices is marked as read in Gmail.
Mail moved to Trash on all devices (OSX and iOS) is moved to Trash on Gmail and is moved to the Trash mail/Google mailbox on OSX devices.
Moving messages on an iOS device from the Inbox to another mailbox does not always move the message to the other mailbox on the OSX devices, but does move the message in Gmail (in the case of Gmail, the message has a label with the name of the correct new mailbox).
Mail sent on iOS devices appears in the SENT mailbox on OSX and iOS devices.
Outgoing Mail messages  remain in the DRAFTs mail box after they have been sent.  I have to confirm that they are in the Sent mail box and the delete these draft messages.
I have an open case with Apple Care on this issue, but would welcome ay input from the Apple Forum.  I beleive that this is an important issue and understand that Apple engineers are working on this issue.

  • Sync Mail with .Mac

    Hello,
I've had my Macbook less than a week. I've been searching the Discussions boards and google about syncing my iMail with .Mac.
    I read this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=720270&#720270
And so I created folders in .Mac and then I created these same folders in iMail. What I wanted to happen is when I open mail via .MAC I would leave it there. So when I got home and opened iMail the same emails would be there, then the rules that apply to the "on the mac" folders would kick in and file themselves in the appropriate folders but that is not happening.
I.E. I'm forwarding my Yahoo mail to .Mac address. When I open iMail (using my .Mac account ALIAS) I was hoping iMail rules will see these messages and apply rules.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this to work.
    Thank you in advance.
    Z'Dane

    Hello Z'Dane.
First of all, there is no such thing as ‘iMail’ in Mac OS X. I assume you’re talking about Apple Mail (i.e. the Mail application located in the /Applications/ folder).
And so I created folders in .Mac and then I created these same folders in iMail.
This is wrong. You can create the folders either on the web or using Mail, but if these are meant to be the same folders, you shouldn’t create them both ways.
then the rules that apply to the "on the mac" folders would kick in and
file themselves in the appropriate folders but that is not happening.
I don’t fully understand what you’re saying, but the problem could be that rules in Mail are automatically applied to incoming messages only, not to messages that have already been read, for example.
You can, however, select the messages in Mail and manually apply your rules to them doing Message > Apply Rules.

  • Syncing mail with iCloud

No.  Only the iCloud mail account (and no other mail account) syncs through iCloud.

  • How to sync mail with mac and pc?

Synced iphone to my mac at home - .mac, itunes, ical. Any way to get my Outlook calendar and mail off my pc at work?

The only way to sync email between an email client used on one or more computers and the iPhone is with an IMAP account. The iTunes sync process does not sync mailboxes for messages for an email account.
You can sync address book contacts and calendar events with multiple computers.
