Syncing movies on iPhone 3G

my iphone wont sync all my movies, 1 of 3 sync but not the others. They are all the same format (mp4. I can see them in itunes but they wont transfer onto the iphone.

is iTunes setup to sync those videos? are you getting an error?

If I want to sync a movie to both an iPhone & an Apple TV, it seems that I need to load the video into iTunes twice. If I load up a copy set to the appropriate resolution for the iPhone, it doesn't look as good as it should on the Apple TV. The only viable solution seems to be loading two copies of the same movie into iTunes and wasting disk space on my computer. Someone please tell me that I'm missing something.

You're not. The Apple TV and iPhone are optimized for different resolutions on video content, and the Apple TV's specification is too large for the iPhone's display to handle.

Syncing Movies To iPhone

"An unknown error has occurred (-54)." That is the message I get when I try to use the Advanced tab, Convert Selection to iPod/iPhone. I've been using Handbrake to get my dvd movies over to my iTunes library. The movies play on iTunes, but won't sync to my iPhone. All the movies are in .m4v format. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having the same issue and I have the correct format MPEG4. When I had the iphone edge software version 1.1.1. I just had to convert the file to MPEG4 and it would play on my old iphone. But now with the new 2.0 software version it won't sync my videos and play on my iphone. SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE!!!!! I didn't buy a 16gb Iphone just to play music LOL.

Ios 6.1.3 locks syncing movies on iphones not ipad

Ihave two iphones (4S) and an ipad. when I updated to 6.1.3 I can no longer sync movies on either iphone but i can on my ipad. It is not a space issue as all three units have about 40% free space and I am only trying to sync a single movie. and it does not mater what movies NONE will sync to the iphones but all will sync to the ipad. When I say won;t sync I mean it locks itunes to the point a message comes up saying that itunes has stopped working. I have narrowed it to movies not syncing but all of them woudl sync just fine on the previous ios 6.whatever.
Help please.

Can't sync movie from iPhone to without losing all my songs

I recently bought a 1GB movie directly to my iPhone and I want to back it up on my computer. I have "manage movies and songs manually" checked on the summary page, but when I try to drag the movie over it doesn't take. When I click the sync movies option I get a warning that I'm going to lose all my songs, which I don't want to do. Can someone tell me how to get this huge file off my phone so I can use that space for other files and purchases?

connect your device and right-click or control-click your iPod in the iTunes Source list, then choose +transfer purchases+ from the shortcut menu that appears.

Syncing movie to Iphon

I was wondering why I can't sync my movies to my iphone, when I try to sync my videos, it says there are no rented movies in this itunes library that can be transferred at this time?

I have purchased movies that previously were on my IPhone, but now they are gone and in Itunes it still shows them as purchased, but when syncing, they no longer show up in movies like they did originally. Something changed in the last update because it has always worked before. Are purchased movies now in a different place? What happened? I have the original Iphone, not 3G

Recently rented some movies. Cannot seem to sync movies to iPhone 4 regardless of method used. Movie only seems available to watch on the PC in iTunes. Did not rent HD, only SD. Sync process shows movie (video) size in bar on bottom of screen which shows how much space is allocated to each type of media durign sync process, then at end video content is goen and cannot locate video anywhere in iPhone. Frustrated, please suggest!

Looked in video app, iTunes, and general search on phone. Also observe in iTune (on iPhone) it says I have no downloads. In iTunes on the PC under my phone it shows rentals next to movie folder and the rental folder has the movie in it.

Podcasts and movies are synced to my iphone but do not show up in menus

Since upgrading to 5.1.1, I've noticed that movies and podcasts sync to my iphone, but do not show up in the corresponding menus. I can search for the movies and podcasts and then play them, but when I navigate to the podcast page, it shows none on the iphone. Same with movies...only the TV episodes show up.
I have tried restoring to factory settings, and that temporarily fixed the problem, but subsequent syncs seem to have undone whatever was fixed.

Since no one here can possibly know what you specifically mean by "tried everything that other people are saying", no one can determine what you did wrong. Also, you didn't say what computer OS you use.

I am having a weird problem with my phone every since it was updated this last time. I can sync movies from my computer to my iphone but any movies I buy with my phone I can not sync to the computer. But I redownload it to the computer and can then sync.

I for the first time since buying my iphone and ipods for almost three years am concedering getting rid of them as I am getting tired of this problem. I can sync anything from my computer to the iphone. I can not sync movies bought on the iphone to my computer. I have tried everything and spent days trying to trouble shoot. I literally have bought hundreds of movies off Itunes but will not buy any thing else until I can figure this problem out. I have uninstalled Itunes reinstalled, troubles shooted using the itunes trouble shooter and reset my phone and nothing works.

You are correct. Syncing should transfer any purchased media, including videos, from your device to your iTunes library provided your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to make these purchases. You mentioned that you have uninstalled iTunes before, but if you didn't follow this guide exactly, uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in the order specified, it may not have been successful so you should try again: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7.

Must I Check Every Single Movie I Want To Sync To My iPhone In iTunes?

Hey all.
This has been bugging me for a while. I'm trying to figure out how to automatically sync any and all movies I have i my iTunes library to my iPhone. As it stands now, if I, say, create a new movie or download a mp4 video podcast that is already compatible with the iPhone, it shows up and plays fine in iTunes, but upon connecting the iPhone, the movies added to the itunes library do not sync to the iphone (as would be done with any music file)
Instead I have to connect the iphone, wait until it is done syncing, then go in to the Video tab of the iphone and manually check all of the videos I just added. The sync AGAIN. This is tedious.
I don't remember it working like this with the iPods. Is there any way around this? Sometimes I will add a few videos before syncing, and then I will sync and forget that iTunes assumes I do NOT want to have these videos syced (even though undet the music tab, all new songs and playlists will be synced)

I tired copying all the .dll files to the itunes folder didn't help

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. Sync iPhoto movies to iPhone 3G Photo App - Possible?

This may be a a 3g vs 3gs limitation but I thought I would ask.
I downloaded the superb iVideoCamera app for iPhone 3G (its works very well!) - it has a function to export to the iPhone Camera Roll. After exporting, I can play the movie in the camera roll on the iPhone, and when syncing with iPhoto, the movie will move to iPhoto and play there also (under QT).
Now the problem is that it no longer shows up in any Photo albums on the iPhone when syncing BACK from iPhoto to iPhone through iTunes. I have the "include videos" option checked in iTunes but that seems to do nothing.
Ok - I know I can transfer the movies from iPhoto to iTunes and then sync them to iPhones iPod App - but the question is:
Can movies synced from iPhoto to iPhone show up in the Photo app on the 3G or is it a 3GS only feature?
If indeed, this is a 3GS only feature, what does the "Include Videos" option in the iTunes > iPhoto tab (when the iphone is plugged in) do exactly for a 3G?

They must be in a format to play on the iphone or they will not sync. Select the movie in itunes, then Advanced>Create Ipod/Iphone version. Select that version to sync to your phone. You can also use handbrake to create iphone versions & then drag them to itunes. Handbrake has presets for the iphone:

Sync movie in Shared Library to IPhone

I can see movies in a shared library (not the ITunes library on this laptop), but can't get those movies to sync to the IPhone. Only the movies on the local laptop are syncing. And when I try to move from the old library to the iphone to the new laptop, then back to the iphone, it doesn't work. Tips? Ideas?

As noted in th article you came from, tick Include videos on the Photos tab.
