want to sync music from brand new computer as old one was damanged. says all my songs will be deleted. solution, please?

Do you have all of your content in that computer's iTunes library ? There are some instructions on this page for syncing to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
And if you have music on your device that wasn't purchased from iTunes and you don't have a copy of it on your new computer's iTunes then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy it back (iTunes will only copy iTunes downloads back from a device) : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

  • Will my apps in my iPhone be deleted when i sync music from a different computer/iTunes?

So i went to a technician to download paid apps for my iPhone. Then when i went home i want to add music files to my iPhone but when i pressed the sync button the iTunes said:
The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library.
i was wondering if when i sync JUST MUSIC/VIDEOS/PHOTOS will my apps be erased too???
Thanks in advance for the answers! <3

just copy over the music from the other computer, import it into itunes, then sync your phone.

  • Syncing Contacts from Phone to computer without backing it up.

I need to restore my iphone without restoring it from a backup. I think my back up has corrupted files as I am sure my phone does. I do not want to lose my contacts. I do not care about losing the apps and such, just the contacts. How do I sync my contacts that are on my phone to my computer. All I see is the ability to sync contacts from my computer (Address Book) to my phone, Not vice-versa. Thanks for any help.

I thought that I did. In INFO>Contacts in my itunes it asked me to sync address book contacts. These contacts I do not care to have on my phone. But my phone contacts are not in my address book. How can I just sync my phone contacts to my computer. So when I restore it I can just sync those right back to my phone. I am not seeing an option for this.

  • Can't play music from phone on computer

    Hi,
I plugged in my phone into our computer at home, which is connected to the stereo, in order to play a song. All the music is greyed out on the phone. Why is that? There is no option to even "authorize" the computer.
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
You can't do this in iTunes, but you can do it using PhoneView, a third-party Mac app. Open PhoneView and double-click music to play it on the Mac's speakers or a connected stereo system. However, it will not play music over a stereo system connected via AirTunes wireless.

  • Auto sync from phone to computer but not computer to phone.

how do I auto sync music from iphone to computer, but keep from auto syncing from my computer to the phone?  There is not enough memory on my phone to handle everthing on my computer and want to back up purchases made from my phone without having to remember what I bought and manually syncing.  Thanks

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.
Connect device, right-click on it in the side bar and use transfer purchases.
Edit your sync settings so that a reasonable subset of your library is scheduled to sync to it rather than everything.

how can i sync music from my phone onto my new computer without losing it all? my old computer's hard drive crashed so it is unusable.

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac.  There is also Pod2PC.
There are numerous choices, some free, some payed.  Do a Google search.

Okay, you are using Windows 7. What version of iTunes do you have. Please don't tell me the most current one, go into Help then About iTunes and read what it says.

  • I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.

I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them.  I can not click on those songs, delete or anything and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.  I tried to re-add the songs and it says it can't add songs because they've already been added.  So HOW can I get the songs to actually ADD to my phone to where I can listen to them?  It's like they're stuck in Sync limbo or something!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

  • I am losing a hard drive on another computer so I have downloaded all music to my ipod nano, when I sync the nano to my new computer and new itunes software it won't pick up the music from the old computer what do I do to successfully sync?

I am losing a hard drive on an old computer so I performed a sync of all music from the old computer to my ipod nano.  Now when I sync my ipod nano to my new computer/Itunes all music will not upload to new computer/software.  What am I doing wrong?

I’ve never needed to do that and am fairly new to using itunes but try doing this. Go to, “Store,” in the itunes menu and select, “Authorize this computer.” Enter apple id and see if that works. I heard that method is used to transfer purchased media to a new computer but I don’t know if it works for regular stored media. Please let me know if that works.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

  • IOS6.1: Can't sync music from another computer?

Previously on 5.1.1 this worked just fine, no I seem to be having problems. Has Apple updated allowances across multiple computers?
I sync and backup my phone to MacBook Pro 1. From here I maintain my iPhone and sync some photos. I sync music from MacBook Pro 2 by dragging and dropping. Manually manage music & videos is checked on both computers when iPhone is plugged in. Both MB Pros are almost the same spec and same OS.
Problem is, when I plug the iphone back into MacBook Pro 1 after adding music from MacBook Pro 2 it removes all the tracks I have synced?
Anyone managing to still do this or has something changed in iOS6.1? Or am I missing something in iTunes 10?

I discovered that my MB Pro 2 had been deauthorized from my iTunes account. Re-authorized and works just fine!
