Syncing Music on Ipod onto Itunes
I have recently put some of my dad's music onto my iPod. I am wondering how i can now upload that music on my iPod onto my iTunes. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you have wireless in your house your best bet is to go computer to computer, or back up the music you want from his computer to a DVD and then retrieve it on your computer. If you want to recover it from your computer, see the post from Zevoneer in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5209955

HT1399 sync music from ipod to itunes on new computer
I have a new computer and I want to import my music off my ipod onto my itunes. I have already set it up to not sync automatically and I have transferred my purchased music. My computer won't show me any of the files on my ipod so how do I get them into itunes? Do I have to load all of them again? My previous computer didn't have Cloud so my Ipod is my backup.
Thank you,
TonyaHi Tonya,
... my Ipod is my backup.
The iPod is not intended to be a backup device. You should move your music from your old computer to the new one, but you can also use "manually manage music" and use the iPod to do it.

Computer crashed, how to get music off ipod onto itunes
My computer crashed, I lost everything. Is there a way to get the music I have on my ipod into my itunes? Other than just the purchased music? Thanks for the help!!
SunnyHello sunnydae,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvageable with my itunes library on it. My ipod still has all of my music still on it.
Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer without loosing them or having to buy them all over again?Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

When syncing music playlist from my itunes to ipod, I get a message advising some songs could not be found. Why is this, when the songs are in my playlist.
By design, the organizer (and any other database management systems) is there to prevent you from duplicating your media files. The catalog management allows you to have the same image in different categories or albums. Duplication in different folders is to be absolutely avoided.
The same image file can have multiple tags like 'family', 'vacations', 'birthdays' and be present in three different albums with the same names. On obvious advantage is less disk space. Another one with your present folder system is that if you edit one of your duplicates, the other ones are unchanged.
I don't see an easy way to make your present folder structure simplified for the organizer ... -
Getting music off of Ipod onto Itunes using iDump
My hard drive recently crashed so all my music and videos are gone but all it's all on my Ipod. I read about the program iDump that allows you to transfer the stuff on your Ipod onto Itunes but I'm not very technical and couldn't figure out how to us it. Can anyone give me simple directions on how to do that please?
iDump does work but it takes a while to import each song individually from the music file.

How do I download videos from my ipod onto itunes
how do i download videos from my ipod onto itunes?
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware. -
When I want to add an application itunes continually has me sign in, it then tells me this computer is already authorized, then the process starts all over again and no applications get transferred due to this.
I recently deleted files to free space on my laptop. Turns out I must have deleted what itunes was linked to. Is there a way to get my playlist from my ipod onto itunes or do I need to find all those CDs again and upload them?- You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- For non-iTunes purchased music you need a third-party progam like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
On the iPOo and the computer are those signed into the iTunes accunt that purchased the apps?
One computer go to iTues>Store sign out of existing account and sign into the one you want. For the iPod go to Settings>Store -
Music on iPod to iTunes?
I feel really stupid asking this but, is it possible to move music from an iPod onto iTunes?
The reason I'm asking this is because my Aunt has a Fifth Generation iPod and she asked me to put a few episodes of lost (Downloaded with iTunes) onto her iPod. When I try to do this a window pops up asking "Are you sure you want to enable Automatic Updating, All existing videos on "My aunt's" iPod will be replaced with videos from your iTunes Library". I click yes because she doesn't have any videos on her iPod. It's practically brand new and all that's on it are a couple songs. When I close out of the options window a window pops up "The iPod "My Aunt's iPod" is linked to another library. Do you want to change link to your library and replace all songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library" this is where I click No.
I can't seem to find a way to get any music from her iPod onto my computer where it will be safe from deletion. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Windows XP ProIt's understandable, but yes, it's illegal. It's just as bad as making copies of a DVD you purchased, and giving them to friends. Really, it's stealing (on your friends' part).
