Syncing My Blackberry Pearl8130 with Mac

Can anybody help me??? I have been trying to sync my Blackberry Pearl with my Mac.  It will sync my address book and tasks but then stalls on iCal syncing.  I have downloaded, re-downloaded, removed the program, EVERYTHING imaginable to try to get it working.  I am using a Mac 10.5.5 and Pocketmac 4.1.25.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to repost this in the mac forum from the main page. You will likely get more specialized help there. Good luck.

You can't. iCloud is an Apple service for Apple mobile devices and Macs/PCs.

Open up iTunes, then go ahead and plug in your phone to the USB port on the back of the Mini using the USB cable that came with the phone.

If your wireless environment is less than ideal, as it is in most inhabited areas, the influence of other wireless networks and devices competing for the same very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum will affect your network's performance. Your own wireless network is a microcosm of that environment.
To mitigate the effects of competing wireless networks, use 5 GHz to the maximum practicable extent. It is comparatively free from interference contributed by other wireless devices and is likely to remain that way for some time. However, it is less tolerant of intervening obstructions and construction materials than the 2.4 GHz spectrum, so it's not a panacea. Every installation is different so you must experiment to determine the optimum configuration.
Place your wireless router (what kind is it?) in a central location, convenient to all the devices that require it. Most of the time a utility or ISP will locate it in some remote corner next to the utility service entrance. That is almost always the worst possible location.
Others find that only a direct wired Ethernet connection between router and devices will maintain uninterrupted access to Airplay.
That is almost certain to result in the best possible AirPlay performance. Short of having everything hard wired (it's not an option for the iPad for example) use an Ethernet connection for all the devices that lend themselves to that method. Your AppleTV is certainly one of them, since its location is not likely to change very often. Your AirPort Express should be another, since your audio systems are likely to stay put as well. Connect them both to your existing router, either directly or through an inexpensive Ethernet switch. Your problems are likely to be solved with just those two connections.

  • BlackBerry Link won't sync Music and Pictures with Mac

Blackberry Link 1.2.1.18 for Mac won't sync pictures or music with my BlackBerry 10 Device.  Contacts and Calendars sync fine but Music and Pictures pretend like they are syncing but then just stops with no error or warning.  Im using the latest versions of iTunes and iPhoto... None of my Music is protected and all my Photos are just regular JPG in an iPhoto Library.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    BB Link 1.2.1.18
    Mac OS 10.9.4
    BB OS 10.2.1.2977

No luck.  I tried with iTunes and iPhoto closed and it says it's syncing... then after some random amount of time iTuens opens for no reason and stays open.  iPhoto will also open and then quickly close.  I don't have iCloud set in iPhoto.  Tonight I tried the whole process with my WiFi turned off on my laptop, which is my only Internet connection.  It moved along for a little bit, and then just stops.  ALL my music files are standard MP3, so I have no clue why it doesn't work.  Im trying to copy everything use USB Storage mode now, just so I can have stuff on my phone.  Surely BlackBerry can fix this?  I've seen other people also having lots of issues with BlackBerry Link.

Guess what ? Pocketmac for Blackberry just released a new version this afternoon. 4.125.
I downloaded the new version and it now has a sync for Entourage 2008 and it works BB to Entourage 2008 and Entourage 2008 to BB.
Thanks to them for finally fixing this major flaw

  • Best way to Sync your BlackBerry on a Mac

    Hi! All
After making the effort to get the sync to work properly on my Mac I decided thats it no more, so here is what I did.
I installed blackBerry Media sync so I could sync my music with iTunes
I then installed VMware Fusion and installed Windows XP and Office 2007
I then installed the the BlackBerry Desktop manager.
Well you may say fine and dandy but I want to keep all my address and calender stuff on my mac not in windows.
Well I still do, all I do is export the data that I change on my iCal and import them into outlook. If my contacts change I do the same.
The only other solution that I have found is to spend $40 on missing sync for BlackBerry. I havent done this yet because I already own the above software and dont want to spend $40 as of right now.
I'm like most of you and am upset that RIM hasnt been able to put out a decent sync for the Mac.
Well I hope this has helped someone.

    Hi beastcmg,
We have a Mac synchronization en route for September.

  • Having trouble syncing my Blackberry 8900 with my Address Book on my Macbook

My Mac has Desktop Manager for Mac.
I synced my Blackberry and Mac.  Addresses in my Mac Address Book were duplicated.  I backed up my Blackberry Address book. I wiped my Mac Address Book clean (my iCloud address book was wiped clean as well) and did a two-way sync with my Blackberry hoping to transfer all my contacts onto my Mac.  The sync wiped my Blackberry clean, so I did a restore on my Blackberry with a back-up file, so all my contacts are back on my phone.  I want to import the contacts on my Blackberry to my Mac Address Book.  How do I do that?

You should be able to sync your device to your MAC with the DM, just be sure to temporarily disconnect from iCloud. What OS are you on?

  • Sync iPod 2G notes with mac?

I have a new Macbook, and I often take notes on my old iPod 2G. So I tried to find a way to sync my iPod notes with my Mac notes application.
But there is no function for this in iTunes and I heard that you can only sync with the Mac notes app with iClud. The problem is, tht my iPod is not iCloud compatible, any ideas?
    Pls help me

It is Mac OS 10.8.3 and of course I read the information provided by Apple. Unfortunately, Apple has forgotten their users with older devices. The information provided are not applicable for iOS 4.2.1. There aren't any switches to activate note syncing. What now? I urgently need my notes and emailing is not the solution.

  • Syncing Treo 680 (DateBk6) with Mac OS X 10.4.9?

I have just switched from a PC to a Mac yesterday. My most important question is how do I sync my Treo 680 (with DateBk6) to my new Mac. I have a lot of apps on my Treo (including Avantgo), so iSync is ruled out. After reading other forums and doing a search on this forum (and reading the 8/15/06 ginasmith thread) plus reading about Missing Sync, these appear to be my best options:
    1. Continue to use Palm HotSync manager to sync to Palm Desktop (PD) on my Mac.
    2. Use Missing Sync to sync to my PD on my Mac.
    3. Use Missing Sync to sync to the Mac PIMs (iCal, Address Book, Notes and Missin Sync's memo app) on my Mac.
I need advice on which works best. Here's some more background:
    1. I do not share my calendar with anyone.
    2. I have 2300 contacts, 6300 calendar entries stretching back to 1970, 300 tasks and 51 memos in my Palm Desktop.
    3. I use Gmail and look at my mail as a tab on Firefox.
    4. I also use SplashPhoto (but am not wedded to it) and DocsToGo. These two apps as well as all the Palm PIMs mentioned above appear nicely together on one side panel on my Palm Desktop.
    5. The DateBk6 on my Treo is my favorite app of all those on my Treo AND PC. Mylife is organized and structured using DateBk6.
The most important consideration to me in making this decision is stability and reliability of the sync. As I understand it, the primary reason to use method 3 above is the integration with the Mac programs, especially mail.
I can see that this is a positive. Also, on other forums, I've learned that Missing Sync is stable and reliable and offers greater flexibility than PD in syncing with different conduit sets, etc. I have been using a PC tool (Ultasoft NotSync) which also allows different conduit sets for syncing.
I have noticed what appear on first blush to be calendar limitations of iCal compared to PD. It does not offer a year view and has no "go to" thereby requiring me when looking at 1990 or 2010, for example, to move backward or forward by month. In addition the foldout ToDo section looks skimpy and only offers three priorities. On the other hand, it's color coding of events is far superior to PD. I assume that iCal and address book can handle the 15 categories that I would use for both as well as ToDos.
I understand that Missing Sync provides the memo desktop app since Mac doesn't have one (assuming the Stickies doesn't sync and doesn't appear to me to be a good choice even if it did).
I'm perfectly willing to try method 3 to see if I like it and, if not, switch back to the Palm Desktop, which I realize isolates my personal information from the other Mac apps, thereby limiting some of Mac's powerful tools. One person that I respect on the DateBk6 forum has stated that she occasionally tries the Mac PIMs but feels that they come up short versus PD and always ends up switching back to PD.
I'd be very grateful for any counsel or comments from anyone who has used both the Mac PIMs and Palm Desktop.
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Treo 680 (DateBk6)

The are several advantage to using iCal, the Address Book and Mail.
One is their ability to share contact, event and task data. There are simple examples of this with the integration of Mail and the Address Book, and with the auto-generated iCal Birthdays calendar, entries in which are created whenever you add birthday data to a contact card.
A less discussed but very important reason to use them is that developers of applications with extended contact, event or tasks management capabilities focus on information integration with one or more of these Apple applications, either through the synchronization framework, or directly. Take a look at iGDT, for example: it is a far more sophisticated task management application than iCal is, but synchronizes with it so that task data is available in iCal, or can be viewed without launching iCal using the simple MenuCalendar Clock (iCal Edition) utility, activated in your menu bar.
The Palm Desktop can do none of this, because it is neither synchronization services-aware, nor extensible through additional third-party software.
The transition from Palm Desktop to the Apple applications can be challenging, but once performed, works very well, particularly if you consider third-party add-ons like iGDT for task management. The secret to such a transition is to proceed slowly and deliberately, and insure that your data is backed up. You can move your data in several ways: one approach is to move contacts, events and tasks using the Missing Sync for Palm OS without initially overwriting your Palm device, then immediately doing the following:
    • make any contact corrections, group assignments or other changes in the Address Book
    • make any event and task changes in iCal
    • set the Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks conduits to overwrite the contents of you Palm device during the next synchronization, but only that one time [the default behavior when you overwrite your device]
In this manner, you will replace all of the data on your Palm device with the corrected data which originated on it and was moved immediately prior to this procedure to the Address Book and iCal.
I have never set down the 'recipe' for doing this, primarily because there are so many variables involved. But, I have guided others through the steps applicable to their particular configuration, and I can certainly help you do that.
Before jumping to that step, however, I would encourage you to look around at your 'extended' options:
    • Crm4Mac for single-view information management
    • Journier for journaling
    • simpleDays for journaling, using a day runner and so on
    • Studiometry for comprehensive business information management
    • EasyTask Manager to implement a GDT approach
    • iGDT to implement a GDT approach
    • Process: an outline-driven, near free-form project management tool
    • HighPriority: an extension of iCal used to manage tasks alone
    • Dossier for organizing notes and tasks
    • BaseCamp: a web-driven, multiuser project management application
    • iTaskX for project management
    • Merlin2 for project management
    • the app4mac xTime series of project, staff and inventory management applications
The list just goes on and on…

  • Sync numbers for ipad with mac

Hey I just got an ipad 2 and the numbers app.  I need to keep my databases in sync..ie updates on ipad should sync with mac and visa versa, please give me some advice on how this can best be achieved?
    Chris

The only way I have found so far is:
Syncing from the Mac to iPad - you need to ADD the file to the iTunes file list, under File Sharing, for the appropriate App. This applies every time the file is changed on the Mac. If the file already exists on iTunes you will need to accept the overwrite option for the updated file. Next remove the file from the iPad and import the file again over WiFi from the Mac.
Syncing from the iPad to the Mac - highlight the file to be in sync [ for Pages and Numbers the file in the centre of the screen under My Documents ] and select the Transfer icon. Then select the option Transfer to iTunes. In iTunes you then need to select the file and click on the Save To button and then select where the updated file is to be saved.
The problem with transferring documents to the iPad etc. is that it needs to be attached to the Mac in order that the list of Apps and Documents that allow File Sharing can be seen. Strangely the only way to transfer files back and forth is via WiFi - not USB. Stupid really. Apple needs to sort this out as the current arrangement is rather amateurish.

  • Unable to Sync Iphone 4s ical with mac (without iCloud)

    Hi there,
I was able to sync perfectly all my iCal info back and forth between my iphone 4s and my Mac (OS X 10.8.5), but now it is impossible.
Went through different discussions involving upgrading to Maverick but I really don't think I have done any upgrade (or is there something automatic I didn't quite get?).
The option to sync the calendars in info in itunes is still there, and it does sync the iphone and the mac icals, but the events don't cross from one to the other.
I gave a try to the iCloud, but honestly it is beyond the absolute opposite of anything practical or efficient. More important I travel a lot between countries with no wifi or internet connection whatsoever, so really need to go back to good ol' sync by usb, getting rid of the iCloud on the way. Can anyone advise how to?
    Many thanks in advance!

If itunes doesn't recognize the phone try this: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/
