syncing my iphone 3gs with exchange server 2007.  Is there a way to delete from iphone, without it deleting from my outlook ?

iCloud does not sync which apps are installed on each device. Deleting an app off of one device has no effect on the others.

  • I have problems to connect iCal 6.0 (Mountain Lion) with Exchange Server 2007

I used ICal with Exchange Server 2007 without problems with Lion. After I adopted Mountain it has been impossible to use ICal and I have obliged to use Outlook because It was not possible to connect ICal with Server.
I reinstalled Mountain and rebuilt Outlook data base, canceled cache and so on but without results. How cn I do?

I was having problems with this too. I remember it working okay in iOS 7 and then it breaking in iOS 8.
Fortunately, I'm now on the iOS 8.1 beta, and can confirm it's working fine for me. Just how it used to. - I guess that's one of the bugs that Apple's new software will bust. We'll just have to wait it out.

Contacts are NOT part of the iTunes backup.  If you had read the User Guide when you got your phone, you would have learned that Apple recommends you synch your contacts for safekeeping to your computer (Outlook, Address Book) or a cloud service.  Using the phone as your only source of your contacts is foolish as the phone can easily be lost, damaged, stolen, or the data become corrupt.
If you've been using your phone as strongly recommended, your contacts are safe and sound on your computer or cloud service ready to be synched back to your phone.  Of course, you should be backing up your computer regularly as well.
If you haven't been doing this, your contacts are likely gone.

  • Hidden Contact Subfolders are visible on iPhone after sync with Exchange Server 2007

    Hello,
We have encountered an issue where synchronizing the iPhone with Contacts from an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox, causes hidden contact subfolders (from Outlook) to be visible and appear in the Groups list in the Contacts App on the iPhone.  This does not occur with Exchange Server 2010 mailboxes.
We have a 3rd party application that creates hidden subfolders in the default Contacts folder on Exchange Server 2007 mailboxes.  The hidden folders do not display in the Outlook client, Blackberry or on an Android phone.  We did see that they were showing up in Outlook Web Access until we applied this Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 Rollup 2 patch unto the Exchange server:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2210042 - A sub contact folder is still visible after you set the "PR_ATTR_HIDDEN" attribute to "True" in an Exchange Server 2007 environment.
After the patch was applied, the hidden contacts do not show up anywhere else.  However, when we synced the mailbox to an iPhone and synced existing contacts, all of the hidden folders appear in the Contact Groups list.  Is there a way to hide the hidden sub contact folders on the iPhone and prevent them from appearing in the Contact Group lists?
Any help provided would be most appreciated.
    Thanks and Best Regards

    Hi SBuchan,
I have an open case with Microsoft about it.  It is an issue with ActiveSync in Exchange 2007 that sends the hidden objects.  Microsoft tried to resolve this in Exchange 2010 by sending a delete message after sending the hidden objects to remove them from the device.  Am awaiting to see if they will approve a design change to Exchange 2007 ActiveSync to prevent the synching of hidden objects.

  • Syncing iPhone 4 with Exchange Server

Is there any way to synch an iPhone 4 with an Exchange Server contact list and calendar without overwriting all iPhone contacts and calendar entries.  In other words, "Can they be merged rather than overwritten?"

    Thanks Kilted Tim,
After an update of iTunes and the iOS, a good backup, and a leap of faith, I figured it out earlier this morning.
I had a bad experience when I first got my phone.  I did the same thing, syncing with the exchange server and it overwrote all of my contacts and calendar items.  It was a long three months trying to rebuild them all.  I'm glad to see this option was opened to users choice.

  • Iphone and Microsoft Exchange server 2007.

We as a corporate company have many iphone users, and the iphone users are configured with our corporate microsoft exchange 2007 server.  So the users use their iphones to check their corporate emails which is on microsoft exchange 2007.   So they have setup a connection on their iphones to the company exchange server.
The issue we have is that the iphone users have issues with sending out email via the exchange email accounts on their iphones, when they send large emails, or emails with a long chains, When they send these emails the emails gets stuck in the outbox, and does not send out.  The users then have to delete the content in the email, or make the email less in size and then it sends OK.
We have checked our exchange server and the settings seem ok, and we have contacted microsoft, and they have done some tests with a windows mobile emulator which acts like a mobile device, and there are no issues with sending email their.  So they have asked me to contact Apple about any issues.
So has anyone come across this issue.  Any suggestions.

    Try this:
    1. On your Exchange server that runs your active sync or outlook web access, open IIS
    2. Right click on the website that contains exchange components and choose properties.
    3. Select the "Directory Security" tab
    4. Under "Secure Communications", click the "Edit" button
    5. Under "Client Certificates", select "Ignore Client Certificates"
    6. *IMPORTANT STEP: When you click ok and ok again, it may ask you whether you want to change other subfolders within the main container with the modifications you have just made, dont select any of these subfolders, just click OK. It is only the main properties you need to change. Those that need to inherit, should already inherit properly. If you select other subfolders to change with the modifications you have just made, it will likely ruin your active directory setup as some subfolders need different security settings to others.

  • Agenda Syncronization with Exchange server 2007

I am unable to syncronize the agenda throug iSync...
I am trying to connect to an Exchange Server 2007 OWA, which default url is:
    https://server/owa
We are using windows authentication too...
The Agenda and iSync don't show any kind of error... it just won't sync...
Is there anything else i can do?

iSync is for syncing Contacts and Calendars to mobile phones and PDAs.
It doesn't actually sync with any Exchange Servers (although, once setup, you can use the iSync menu bar item "Sync Now" to manually initiate a sync - that's all).
Are you referring to the "Synchronize with Exchange" option in the *Address Book* application?
If so, the *Address Book* forum is here:

  • Mail / Calendar with Exchange Server 2007

    Hi all,
We have a problem with Apple Mail and Calendar (Mountain Lion) connected to an Exchange Server 2007.
Apple Mail for no reason doesn't show the available data on the server. At first all goes right but after a few hours the data get corrupt. Folders disappear, mails aren't shown, ... The folders and mails are there in the server. I can check that with Outlook for Mac or on a collegues machine on Windows.
    I tried:
    - deleting the mail cache and mail data and restart
    - removing the accounts and setting them up again
    - creating a new user and trying mail in that user
None of those solved my problem.
Apple Calendar doesn't sync its data correctly. Example:
I create an event in calendar A. From that event I onvite calendar B to join the event. So far, so good. Everything just syncs fine. Then for some reason I delete the event from calendar A. In the server the event is still there. I checked in Outlook. This error is reproducable.
    I tried:
    - naming the user to <WORKGROUP>\<user>
    - deleting the calendar cache and calendar data
None of those solved my problem.
Can anybody help me with this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The configuration I think you have is MS Exchange on the back end fronted (to the Internet) by Outlook Web Access (OWA). As such, Blackberry Internet Service is the interface between OWA and the BB...there is no direct interaction between the BB and the Exchange server. As such, only email will reconcile wirelessly in this configuration. Calendar, contacts, and other items must be reconciled via USB/BT tether.
Now, that said, there is a free solution to do what you desire -- it's called BES Express. BES is BlackBerry Enterprise Solution and provides OTA sync of email, calendar, contacts, etc. Full BES is not free. But BES-X is. If you truly require full reconciliation of all things from Exchange, I recommend you research BES-X.
    Good luck!

  • Newbie needs some direction with Exchange Server 2007

I am in school and I have been given an assignment that is kinda hard for me.  I am not asking for answers but I am asking for direction.   If you guys can point me to some research that will help me It would be much appreciated.
    Here is the scenario:
Your organization plans to open a remote location that requires a server to host Exchange Server 2007
with the CAS, Hub Transport, UM, and Mailbox roles. Your Senior Administrator has assigned you the
task of choosing the hardware to support this server. Using the links below and internet research, design
a server capable of hosting the previously mentioned roles and 1,000 mailboxes. Choose a processor,
    hard drive, and RAM.
Here are the questions associated with the scenario:
    Questions
    1. What is the total cost of the server you designed?
    2. Would you recommend a multiple core processor? If so, why or why not?
    3. What is the minimum amount of RAM necessary?
    4. Would you recommend a RAID setup? If so, what RAID level? If not, what would you suggest for
    fault tolerance.
Your guidance and expertise is much appreciated.  Just point me in the right direction for research....

    Hi Mikenater,
    Thank you for your question.
    1. What is the total cost of the server you designed?
A:the total cost depend on the price of hardware and software in your country, we didn’t give an exact answer.
    2. Would you recommend a multiple core processor? If so, why or why not?
A: I suggest we use the multiple core processor, because Exchange consume much hardware resources. including CPU,RAM and so on, when we use multiple core processor, Exchange will deal with a mount of request without no response. It is convent for us to manage
    Exchange server.
    3. What is the minimum amount of RAM necessary?
A:  AS you said that a server to host Exchange Server 2007 with the CAS, Hub Transport, UM, and Mailbox roles. The minimum amount of RAM is 4GB. However, if there are 1000 mailbox, we suggest the RAM is higher, we could refer to
    the following link:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738124(v=exchg.80).aspx
    4. Would you recommend a RAID setup? If so, what RAID level? If not, what would you suggest for fault tolerance.
A: Exchange 2007 have high availability for database, for example LCR,CCR,Scc or SCR, we could refer to the following link:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(v=exchg.80).aspx
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Can I sync my iPhone calendar with exchange server AND ical on my mac ?

I have been happily using my iPhone synced with my Macbook over usb via iTunes.
I have contacts and iCal syncing. I have a number of 'calendars' set up in iCal which allow me to view separate aspects of home and work but they all exist within iCal. iPhone just treats these as colour coded appointments (different colour for each ical calendar)
I really like this set up.
However, I just changed jobs to a firm where they have a hosted outlook exchange set up and I need to use the exchange calendar for work appointments and showing my availability.
I have managed to setup my iPhone to work with the Exchange server for email as well as in apple Mail on my mac. This has all worked fine. However, I hesitated when iPhone asked if i wanted to sync my contacts and calendar. I said no as I was unsure if my private calendar/contacts would be uploaded to the public work area.
In fact it seems that this is the least of my worries:
As I have read on apple support for iPhone:
"Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone or iPod touch is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly with MobileMe services."
So I am really pleased that I didn't let it sync those and wipe out my personal data if that is really true.
But now I am unsure how best to enable myself to view and update the work calendar on exchange.
Also it would be nice to see work contacts on my iPhone.
    Contacts
    - although i have said no to sync contacts with Exchange in fact it looks like I can get contacts ok - when i send email from the Exchange account on the phone , it searches Exchange contacts on the server as i type in the TO box.
    - also in Contacts on the iPhone I have a new group that has been created with the name of my Exchange account. The group appears to be blank when you go into it on the phone, but you can type in the search box and get contact details from the server just fine.
This seems workable for now for my purposes, although updating contacts is not going to be possible that way.
I'd like more info on that if poss but more importantly..
    Calendar
    - Unlike Contacts, no Calendar has been auto created for Exchange
    - Unlike contacts, I can't see how I can view or search or create an appointment in my Exchange calendar on the iPhone
What is the best solution to this problem - I presume lots of people face the same dilemma. My initial research suggests that there are multiple ways round this but all of them look like workarounds with various disavantages.
    Questions are
    - Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
    - Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
    - What is the best work around for this?
At the moment I am seriously considering getting a separate iPhone for work and have that sync with Exchange fully although that seems a bit drastic and does not solve the problem of seeing work and home appointments on the same calendar.

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • ICal crash with Exchange Server 2007

We started using a MS Exchange Server recently for our agenda's. I'm using iCal for years in MobileMe connection, without any problem. Now iCal crashes every few minutes. Can anybody explain me where the problem might be?

Make sure you pulled the plists in conjunction with the caches while iCal was quit and then restarted.
If the issue persists at that point, reset your sync history: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26867.html
If the issue persists at that point we should find out if this is a user specific issue or a system wide issue.
__Create a new user account on the Mac: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
__Login to the new user and set it up for your exchange server and test.

  • Mail with Exchange Server 2007

About a week ago our company upgraded from Exchange Server 2003 to 2007. Since Mail is more or less not working anymore. As soon I send an email Mail hangs. It tries to send the mail forever. As soon Mail check for new emails, this will hang too. After that point, I can not even look at emails already downloaded to my computer. Instead of the text, I only get an icon "loading".
Has anybody had the same experience. And even more important, maybe a fix. Working with Parallels and Outlook is a pain in the a. I don not have Entourage.
    Thanks for your input.

Go to your Exchange accounts web access (OWA) and see if the mail in Mail matches the Mail in OWA.
