Syncing new iPod classic w/current iTunes
Replacing old IPod,5th Gen, 30gb w/7th Gen 160gb. Old iPod & iTunes are at latest version. Wanting to know process for smooth transition sync of current iTunes content to new, never used iPod. I assume the new iPod needs to be at same latest version of iTunes first before attempting. Do I need to change iTunes settings to not auto sync, therefore to make sure my new iPod is at latest version before attempting the sync?
It should work with USB 1.1 but it will be a LOT slower than USB 2.0 or FireWire.

How do I add my NEW iPod to my current iTunes account?
**Let me just start by saying, iPod's don't swim.**
*Bought a used one from a friend.*
*2 Questions:*
*1. How do I add this new nano to my current iTunes account?*
*2. How do I take off the music files on the "new" one?*
TIA!if you just plug it in to your computer i believe it should give you the option of who's songs and other info to keep, or download.

How can I sync my iPod classic to another iTunes library
I need to sync my iPod classic to a new computer shared with my wife how can I sync my music to her library?
Hello eddie8625,
I would recommend enabling 'manual mode' on the iPod so that it can be synced to two libraries without affecting the existing content on the device.

If you'd like to use your iPod to transfer your music to the new system, the following article should be helpful.

How to sync old ipod nano to current itunes for ipod touch?
I have an ipod touch and upgraded itunes and registered new ipod. I have an old ipod nano that was previously registered to my itunes account. I'd like to add my playlists to this ipod as well. I'm afraid I will wipe out my library as I have in the past. How can I do this?
Sync it normally, following the instructions in this article if necessary.

Can't sync new ipod touch to laptop itunes
I'm trying to sync songs saved in itunes on my laptop to my daughter's new ipod touch. It just hangs on Step 2 of 6. And it seems the itunes store won't properly load either on the laptop. I think that's part of the problem. So I downloaded the new itunes software but that didn't fix the problem. Please help.
Thanks.Probably because Apple's servers are overwhelmed on Christmas morning.

I'm trying to sync my ipod classic with my itunes library, but I get a message saying it can't be synced because the required disk can't be found. How do I find what this disk is? I have over 2,000 songs in my itunes library but only 497 sync. Help!
Could any of the music have been sourced on an external USB drive or a network drive? In iTunes, go to one of the songs that won't sync. Bring up the info page, and look at the location of that song on the disk. Does that file and path exist? That could be your problem, especially if they were on a USB drive you forgot about.

I can no longer sync my iPod classic to my itunes on my iMac because I'm told I no longer have the priviledge to make changes? any ideas?
Hello Zabagon,
I was looking through our resources for information based on what you are describing here. I found an article that may just get you back up and running, called iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1277.
Symptoms
With Mac OS X, the Shared folder is required to authorize your iTunes Store purchases. With Windows the iTunes folder is also required. If either of these folders are missing or have incorrect folder permissions, you may notice one of the following symptoms:
You are unable to complete a purchase from the iTunes Store.
You are told that you do not have permission to modify your iTunes Media folder when downloading from the iTunes Store.
You cannot play content you purchased from the iTunes Store.
An alert appears with the following text:"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer. The required directory was not found or has a permission error."
Resolution
Collapse All | Expand All
Mac OS X
Log in to your computer using an administrator account.
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type: "/Users" (without quotes) and click Go.
Take care,

I can't seem to sync my ipod classic to my itunes library.
I have tried ao many times now & it shows that it is syncing but the new music is not transfering to my ipod.
I even made sure that my itunes was the most current version & I reset my ipod.
I have been trying for 2 days now, I have read & re-read the helps & am at a loss.
If I can't figure it our now I will probably end up taking the ipod to the Apple store.Do you think you could provide a bit more info to work with?

I have been onto Apple by phone, and into the Apple store where both of them recomended that it gets replaced. I did, got a brand new ipod classic, and i still have the same problem.
I have attempted to restore, but it won't let me for the same reason.
On a couple of occations it starts to sync!! however it goes through practicly the whole syncing process (12,000 songs, heaps of videos) and then just freezes up! The little rainbow orb spins forever until i have to force quit.
I have had my old ipod and my partners ipod regestered and used on the one itunes with no complications whatsoever, our old ipods sync perfectly with no problems at all.
very frustrated.
Is it my Ipod Box?
Or is it Itunes?
or does it not like me having more than two ipods registered?
with the last new ipod which was replaced and the current new ipod that's a total of 4 ipods regestered on the one itunes
My partner has a Dell Laptop with Microsoft. I downloaded Itunes on there, ripped one cd, formatted the current new ipod, and it synced the one cd i ripped with no trouble at all.
Has anyone else had the same problem with their Ipod Classic?
MickIs iTunes up to date (10.7)? Have you tried plugging the iPod into a different USB or using a different USB cable?
I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread to check your Hard Drive's health. He always covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Help Please - New iPod Classic will not sync with existing iTunes library
Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me. Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic. I have checked and both have the most up to date software. I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes, authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty. I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.
All suggestions gratefully receivedProblem solved. It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away
