Syncing Now Takes over 2.5 Hours!

I just configured my new iPhone 3G, and the main difference I noticed between it and the old first generation phone/software is a sync which used to take only 5 minutes now is taking almost 3 hours! The backup alone takes about two hours, and then any video or audio is on top of that.
Between MobileMe and IMAP email the calendar and address book and mail are all updated live, but the ridiculously long sync times means no fresh TV or podcasts unless I let it run over night.
What the heck is going on?

some things to try:
if you are using a pc, try disabling any antivirus or anti malware software and try another sync... if it doesn't speed up disable the firewall and try a sync. remember to re-enable any of the above after you are done syncing.
if you are using a mac and have little snitch running disable it then close and reopen itunes and try again... don't forget to turn little snitch back on when done
if neither of those things work some have had luck removing the backup files from their machines (itunes -> Edit, Preferences -> Devices tab , select your backup and click "delete backup") close and restart itunes then force a backup manually (under devices in itune's main screen right click your iphone and choose "Back up")
be well

  • IPhone 3G 16gb Backing Up forever, takes over 2.5 hours, free space is 92%

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB. It is on OS 3.0.1. I have been trying to back up that phone for a while now on both iTunes 8.1 and iTunes 8.2. It gets stuck around 60% and never moves for a long long while - over an hour and half. Today, I won the battle of wits and found out that it takes over 2.5 hours to backup. The clincher is my iPhone is about 92% empty!!!
Any idea why it is taking such a long time? I have my iPhone password-protected, so the backup must be getting encrypted, I can understand. But even then, 2.5 hours for backing up about a GB is just not happening to a phone on this side of the millennium.

  • HT201587 Rent and play now takes over eight hours to download??

paid to rent and watch now, THEN told it would be eight hours nine minutes before it could be watched??? That time is now increasing? 9 hrs 45.... 10 hrs.... Why did I pay? Could have had it from Sky straight away, albeit for £1 more.
I Downloaded the imitation game a week ago, and all I get when I try to play back is "an error occurred please try later"?
First apple product I EVER bought that I wished I hadn't.....

For some legal reason rented movies have to be completely downloaded before they can be watched, unlike purchased content which you can start watching right away.   That being said though I can download a whole movie in 15 min or so.  It sounds like your internet connection may not be even close sufficient for streaming HD content.  If that is the case and product is still new I would take it back as it is useless without a very fast broadband internet connection.   Are you able to use other streaming services like Netflix or Hulu?
You might contact your ISP so some of them limit traffic from streaming providers like iTunes and Netflix.
Since you were never able to access the content you can contact Apple customer service for a refund.   They are usually pretty flexible on this.

  • IPod Touch 1G sync now takes FOREVER

Ever since I upgraded to 3.0, my iPod Touch takes FOREVER to sync to iTunes when I plug it in to my computer. Today I plugged it in to get the latest upgrade, and it's been synching for over an hour. Anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?
p.s. the 3.0 upgrade broke my iPod, so it has been completely restored since then as well.

    See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • Syncing now takes several minutes

I'm not sure what happened, but yesterday I noticed that when I plugged my iPhone into my PC the backup process took much longer than usual. Today I timed it, and from the moment I plugged it in until it was done syncing my contacts, bookmarks, and everything else it took over five minutes. Does anyone know what this might be?

Have you imported the photos from your iPhone's camera roll?
If not, do so followed by deleting the photos from the camera roll after the import process is complete. If you want any of the imported photos available on your iPhone for viewing, you can place the photos in an folder to be transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process - selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If this doesn't improve the backup time required for your iPhone's backup, there may be a problem with your iPhone's backup, which stores quite a bit of data.
You can delete the existing backup at iTunes > Preferences under the Devices tab.
After the backup is deleted, you can create a new backup by control-clicking on your iPhone in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up. The initial/new backup for your iPhone will take longer than future updates to the backup when syncing.

  • Mobile Site Now Takes Over on iPhone

On my iPhone, this jumped up in place of the normal site this morning:
Unfortunately, I cannot seem log in, nor can I find a place where I can just get back the regular standard site.
Honestly, I'd just prefer to be able to set an option to allow me to use the standard, normal interface, as zooming works just fine.
Oh, and the following isn't happy news for me either, as I prefer to keep Private Browsing turned on on my iPhone.
    -Noel

Seems to be back to normal now.  Thanks.

  • My Canon MX710 takes up to an hour to print, if it prints a job at all.

My MX710 wireless home printer worked fine for a few weeks, but now takes up to an hour to print even just one page, and sometimes won't print the job at all. I have reinstalled the software, unplugged and replugged, shut on and off and it still won't print properly. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
    Thanks,

    Hello.
Please try to restart your computer to see if this may help resolve the issue.  Also, try printing from other programs to see if the issue is only related to certain documents or programs.

  • IPhone G3 takes over an HOUR to sync!

I am VERY frustrated that it now takes an iPhone G3 a LOOOOONG time to sync because it makes a full back up every time. i am trying to back up to go upgrade to 16GB, and then if you get a phone call, you have to start all over. i finally put it on airplane mode, but i have a headache from not eating because ive been trying to back it up for over TWO HOURS so I can then restore to the new one.
    a) a phone call should NOT cancel syncing, it should ASK you and you should be able to decline the call and continue sycning.
    b) why can't backup be an option???
I am LOVING the 2.0 but HATING the syncing, this is ridiculously long.
    am I missing something, please?!?!?!?

I am so flipin $%!&@^^#$&#@$*& mad! I upgraded to 16GB and after AN HOUR AND A HALF someone called me and it &^@#&^*&@#^$&^#@$B cancels ALL THAT WORK and how I have to ^@&^%%@$@#$@@ !! start all $!%@#&!*!#@ over.
    this is STUPID!
It restores the applications on first install, but NOT your music/videos. Then it has to do a FULL BACK UP (which is what i was doing) BEFORE it will add your music/videos.
so now I have to REDO a 2 hour backup BEFORE it will even transfer my music and videos BACK on to my new 16GB.
I scared of how long it will take once I have 16 and not just 8GB of stuff on this thing!! almost wish i had stuck with an 8GB!
i am hating my iphone right now (though still in love with all my new apps) and missing my iPhone EDGE with 2.0 as it worked BEAUTIFULLY.

  • How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion.  I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?

How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion.  I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?
The system I'm have is a Mac-mini that had SL on it and no SuperDrive.  I have also call Apple Support and they have really have not been to much help over 1st did my up grade to Lion and Installed the Lion Server.... it lost my SSL that I paid for and kill almost on of my server setting, plus kill all my web servers (using apache vhosts), and not to say the LDAP will even let remote users login to your laptops.
PS: There is no way that I'm going to buy a Install USB from Apple... They have over billed me over $300.00 because the Apps Store still has bugs (Glad I did not write that App/Service)
If there is anyone that can give in the information to create a USB install stick, I would be very thinkful.

Here you are bro, courtesy of "softpedia.com"....brilliant site!!!
If you ever had problems with your Mac OS X installation you know that the first thing you should do is to check the startup volume using Disk Utility.
After the check has ended and, if the errors exceed a certain level of seriousness, the Disk Utility application will require you to restart your Mac and use its Mac OS X Install disc counterpart.
Other users may have to reinstall OS X altogether, but will find, or already know, that their SuperDrive (a CD/DVD reader and write combo drive) is not functioning properly and it will not be able to read the Install disc.
Although this might happen to Mac OS X Leopard users due to faultyhardware, the vast majority of problematic SuperDrives will be encountered inside Snow Leopard running Macs.
This is due to the updated SuperDrive firmware included in either the Install disc or the software updates one has to install to reach the latest version of OS X, namely 10.6.6.
This can be fixed by flashing the SuperDrive’s stock firmware using free command line tools that one can find for free online (I will write about this process also, but at a later time because this article only focuses on allowing you to create your own alternative USB boot disc).
If you are reading this last bit of information with skepticism, than you should know that it happened to me too. Despite all my tries to make it work properly, the SuperDrive kept on munching any inserted DVDs and just popped them out in about twenty seconds.
The workaround to this issue was to create my own Leopard bootable USB memory stick. I am not suggesting a Snow Leopard bootable stick mainly because there are lots of users that have decided to buy the cheaper, Upgrade version, which I have not tested and, therefore, I’m not sure if it will work properly once written to a USB disk.
And now, here are the exact steps you should follow in order to obtain a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) Install disc.
Step 1 (If you already have the Leopard install disc DMG file you can skip to Step 2)
Launch Disk Utility (you can find it inside /Applications/Utilities). Here select the Leopard Install disc in the list of drives on the left and click on the New Image menu entry at the top of the window. A save message will appear where you will have to select the Desktop as a destination.
    Step 2
After Disk Utility has finished creating the Leopard DMG, insert your USB stick and erase all data and reformat the disk. To do this select the USB in the list of drives on the left and, after clicking on the Erase tab on the right side of the window, choose the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and click the Erase button beneath.
    Step 3
After the USB has been reformatted, download the SuperDuper app from HERE and launch it. Once SuperDuper starts, you will only have to select the DMG in the Copy drop-down menu, your USB memory stick on the right and hit the “Copy Now” button.
One can also use Disk Utility for this task but creating a bootable USB stick failed 2 out 4 times when copying the DMG to the stick (with the exact same settings each time). Creating the bootable stick using SuperDuper proved to be the perfect way to do it because it worked each of the 4 times I tested it.
The steps above can also be used to create a bootable Mac OS X Lion USB by using the InstallESD.dmg image you can find inside the Lion installer (named “Install Mac OS X Lion.app”) downloaded from the Mac App Store in the /Applications folder.
To locate the InstallESD.dmg right click the Lion installer, select the “Show Package Contents” entry, go inside the “Contents” folder, and from there into the “SharedSupport” folder. Inside this folder you can find the InstallESD.dmg you can use to create your own bootable Mac OS X Lion USB stick. To do so, go to the third step described above and use the InstallESD.dmg as the DMG to be copied to your USB disc.
That’s it! Once the process ends you will have a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) USB disk that you can use as an alternative to the Apple’s DVD Install disc that comes bundled with all Macs.
To use your newly created bootable disk you will have to restart the Mac, press and hold the OPTION key until the StartupManager appears. Here, select the Mac OS X Install disk using your keyboard arrows and press return to start from the selected drive.

  • Trying to restore my iPhone 5 from a backup but its says that it will take over 24 hours to finish. Is there something I can try to do to speed this up? I feel like it shouldn't take this long

So I have been restoring my iPhone5 from a backup for about 3 hours now however iTunes still says that it is going to take over 24 hours to complete the restore process and the progress bar hasn't moved much at all. I feel like something has gone wrong somehow and it shouldn't take this long to complete. Is there something I can do to speed up this process or do I just have to try to wait it out? I'm scared to just unplug my phone and try again since it might screw something up.

  • Why is Premiere Pro telling me it will take over 24 hours to export a 55-second clip with no audio or effects?

Why is Premiere Pro telling me it will take over 24 hours to export a 55-second clip with no audio or effects? It's never done this before, but this is driving me nuts. I'm almost finished with this project, I can't have this kind of stuff happening now.

Forgive me. I'm just stressing hardcore at the moment.

    OS X 10.9.4

Full disclosure: I am an amateur so if you need more info just tell me and I'll produce it if I can. I should note though, I've done this before with no problem. However the settings may have been different (still getting the hang of the whole 'settings' thing, to be honest). It's very possible that the problem in this case is the operator, in other words.

On reflection I should have used a wired connection or migrated at a later time but is it possible to interrupt the process now and rerun with a wired solution without damaging either laptop?

I have two iTunes libraries - about 172GB that I keep on my MacBook Pro and 500GB+ that I keep on an external drive. If you wanted to do something similar - keeping that precious internal space to a minimum - you can just create two libraries and hold down the option key when opening iTunes: this allows you to select which library you want to open.
    Just a thought...
