Syncing of Message changes across devices in Mavericks

Anyone remember a comment made during the WWDC keynote regarding the syncing of changes made to Messages across all of your devices once we got ahold of Mavericks. I am not talking about sending and receiving but deleting and cleanup. Cleanup on one device and it goes away on them all.  Haven't seen or read any evidence of it since the release but maybe I am missing something.
Or, could be that I mis-heard; or my oldish MBPro isn't eligible for this feature.
Would from anyone on the subject would be great.
Really enjoying Mavs so far!

Hi,
As far as I am aware and have been able to test this is not a feature in iOS 7.x.x or Mavericks.
I would use the http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html page putting your spec info in the free text area as well.

  • When trying to sync music, message says my device is synced with another library.

when trying to sync music, message says my device is synced with another library?  what other library? my laptop crashed and i had it wiped clean.  i redownloaded itunes.  all my apps are there, my music is not.

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That might switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I couldn't say for sure.

  • What is the best way to edit photos and save changes across devices (without using iphoto)

So I took allot of vacation photos with my iphone and created a photo stream so they can be viewed across devices. Some are dark and I would like to lighten them up and have the changes saved across devices. What is the best way? I originally tried saving all photos to my pc, editing them them, then syncing to all devices via my pc but, this creates 2 folders on my phone, the actual folder with said vacation name and a folder titled "photo gallery" with the exact same photo's. Not sure why it does that.
    Any suggestions?

All photos transferred from your computer are saved in the iPhone's Photo Library. The photos in the album or albums below include a pointer only to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. The photos are not duplicated as in taking double the storage space.
This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or all photos in all albums by selecting Photo Library. The same applies if you transfer multiple albums or folders of photos, or a single album or folder.
Similar to an iTunes playlist on your iPhone. You can listen to a playlist only by selecting the playlist, or listen to all songs by selecting Music. A song placed in a playlist is not duplicated as in taking up double the storage space.
You can place the edits in the photo stream on your computer, or in the photo stream on your iPhone or other iOS device, and delete the originals in the photo stream prior to the editing.

  • Any way to sync Message conversations across devices?

I just upgraded my MBPR to Yosemite and it appears I lost all my Message conversations.  Or, maybe they weren't there as this device is off a lot of the time.
When I log in to the same account I use on all my other devices, shouldn't it sync the conversations to the MBPR?  Right now, it's just showing new texts in existing conversations.

    Hi,
In Messages 7 and 8 in Mountain Lion and Mavericks there was a time limit to when the iMessages would last on the server.
The Process involves a push from the server to the devices.
the iMessages server will keep trying to contact the registered devices.
As soon as the device accepts the iMessages it is "removed" from the server as far at that device is concerned.
(i.e.e deleted iMessages on one device are not re-downloaded).
The best guess about how long the iMessages servers try to connect to a device that is Off Line is not clear.
I have seen 48 hours myself.
I presume it is something around long enough for a weekend where you might not have access to a work computer.
However in Mavericks people have reported suddenly getting 9 and 11 day old iMessages after issues about logging in were resolved.
I have updated to iOS 8.0.2 and Yosemite  and found today that my iPhone 5 had lost the iPhone Number as a valid ID (the iPhone appeared to only using the Apple ID despite the fact the Users cannot turn off the iPhone Number as ID once the iMessage bit is turned On)
This does mean I have not synced some of my recent iMessages to the Number (I first noticed it was absent in the settings on the Mac)

  • IOS 8.3 not syncing Messages correctly across devices

Hello I have 2 iPhone 6, since the upgrade I notice that messages are not syncing correctly on imessage I have some messages in one phone and some others in another phone, this feature I been using since it came out and worked perfectly since the 8.3 update. I found it usefull becuase not matter what phone I pulled up i can continue my conversations, but not anymore.
I believe In lost in this as I believe not much people use it and it going to be a bug i would have to learn and live with it because I dont think apple is going to fix it any time soon.
any solutions or how to troubleshoot ?

i have the same problem between my ipad and my iphone since i upgrade to 8.3
the problem arrive when i am in the tube (with a bad network) with my iphone
and my ipad is at home with a good access to network.

  • How to sync BC4J entity changes across sessions?

    Hi,
In my application, I have two ADF faces pages to manipulate a database table.
For example, the table is: Schedule(TimeFrom,TimeTo,Description)
For the scheduleDisplay.jspx, it displays all schedules in a table.
For the scheduleEdit.jspx, it shows a form for the user to edit a specified schedule.
Both pages are built by dragging/dropping in JDeveloper with ADF + BC4J. In single user scenario, everything work fine. But when there are two or more users access the pages at the same time, how can I keep the data in scheduleDisplay.jspx update-to-date?
Let me explain it in detail. For example, user 1 is viewing the schedules, he/she may refresh his/her browser periodically to update the schedules. Then user 2 modified a schedule in another computer/another browser. How to let user 1 knows the changes made by user 2?
    Thank you very much!
    Thomas

make sure that the spreadsheet file you have open is saved to icloud. You can do this by picking icloud after pressing the save as button. If you already have the spreadsheet saved on your Mac, you can pick "move to" on the file menu and then choose iCloud.
Then when you make the changes, they appear on the device you're not using once you save your work.
I haven't been able to get it to work almost instantaneously like it does on Google drive for Google Docs. I guess that's more for collaboration whereas this is just meant for one person with their multiple idevices.
    Hope that helps you.

  • Sync calendar alert dismiss across devices

Apple fanatic--iPhone, MacBook, iMac--use all regularly and I use the calendar a lot
When I dismiss an event alert on one device it still pops up on the other, a behavior I can't seem to change
Is it possible to make an alert, when dismissed on one device, NOT pop up on another device?
    thanks!!!!

a good workaround is to set mac calendar notifications to "banner" which automatically dismiss as opposed to alerts

  • Sync iCal calendar subscriptions across devices through iCloud?

How do I sync a Google Calendar subscription on my iMac with iCloud Calendar and my associated iOS devices? I subscribe to my google calendar on my iMac (because my University forces me to use google calendar) but cannot see the events on my iCloud account, MacBook or iPhone4.

You can't get a Google Calendar subscription to sync through iCloud.
However you can separately connect to the Google Calendar on each device.
In iOS, simply go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars and add the Google account, with calendars switched on.
In OS X, go to System Preferences -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars and add the Google account, with calendars ticked.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Syncing Jabber across devices

    All,
We are running 9.1 CUCM and IMP and I am looking to hopefully sync Jabber IM's across devices (Windows, iPhone, iPad).  This does appear to be working and I cannot find any documentation about if this a supported feature or not.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

We do not provide such feature. If anything, you'll only get the 1st message someone sends you, as it will "broadcast" it to all the devices in order to determine on which one you're active as you reply, and then it will direct all IM messages to that particular device.

  • Choosing not to sync Known network across devices

    Hi,
in my office I have credentials to connect only 1 device to the complimentary wifi. I then choose to connect my Macbook (or iPad) to the wifi.
Unfortunately, iCloud seems to sync the information about known networks to my iPhone, and this results in the iPhone being connected to the wifi with no IP assigned, hence no internet connection, and me not noticing it until a few hours later.
Would it be possible to fix this behaviour?
Is it possible to choose not to sync known network settings across devices?
    Thanks
    Ale

  • After factory reset information shared across devices won't load

Hello. I recently did a factory reset on my MacBook Air. I backed up my iphoto library and itunes library to external hard drive and was able to load those fine. But I am still having a problem with syncing media and data across devices. Maybe I'm missing something? I set up my icloud; the contacts, address book, etc. seemed to have loaded all the data. BUT: the information that is supposed to load through sharing across my ipad, iphone 5 is not loading. I thought the itunes would load my music just based on the sharing, but it is a good thing I backed it up. Things like ibooks, and the most recent photos I have taken on my iphone are not loaded.
Please help: I need to know how get all my devices sharing again, and/or pushing media through itunes
Any tips would be welcome. Thanks.

Information that is 'shared' via icloud includes calendar events, contacts, todo items, notes, and safari bookmarks. Music that is on an iOS device isn't shared. If it is music you purchased from the Apple iTunes store you can redownload it or it can be moved from the device by using the Transfer Purchases option of the iTunes File menu when your phone is connected to the computer via the cable. iOS apps can also be transferred to the computer this way. New pictures will sync when the phone/iPad is physically connected but I'm not certain how old pictures that exist on the iOS device but not on the computer are handled. You may need to use a third party program to transfer these old pictures - as well as music not purchased from the iTunes store.

  • I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices?

I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices? I thought that was the point of iCloud. Any suggestions since iCloud doesn't seem to work?

It's a work computer so I wanted to save them to my iTunes so I can access from another computer.  Should I go to a home computer and just Import for best results?  If so how do I do this?  Also, why would I be synched with another library and how do I find out what this is?  Very new/green user here

  • Why does my mail not sync as read across devices ios7 and mavericks

When I read an email on one device why does it not show as read on my other devices. I end up having to go through my mail three times. Is their an option I haven't clicked or is my mail not set up right.
I have various accounts running in my mac mail two gmail, two outlook.
If any one can help would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Your email accounts have to use the imap protocol in order to sync across devices. Are all your email accounts on all devices configured to use the imap protocol?

  • Is there a way to change the message received in Outlook from Mavericks calender?

    Hi there
I found a post discussing this whereby a user was advised to edit the ITIP.stings file in the contents of the iCal.app to change the standard message that states "To accept or decline this invitation, click the link below" etc message that an Outlook user received when getting a calender invite from Mavericks Calender.
    The post is here:
Is there a way to change the standard email message?
Problem is, on Mavericks it does not have that string in that file - I've actually checked ALL the .strings files in that folder but to no avail. Did it move somewhere else on Mavericks?
On another note...this whole process is part in part moving from Entourage to Mac Mail and Calender due to Apple's (illogical) removal of the ability to sync with anything other than iCal / Mail / iCloud. So we manually moved everything across (thousands of mails and hundreds of folders) and hundreds and hundreds of calender events.
Now it syncing but herewith the problem...if I create an event and send it to someone, they receive it as the iCloud account email and not our work email (pop account with our own domain). Even then when I open it in Outlook, it has some horribly malformed address and when you accept, you get a delivery failure.
So we create a different Calender (On the Mac) and this sends 100% (except for the message in the body we'd like to change) but this does not sync with the Iphone or the iPad. Then we have to manually change the calender event to the iCloud calender and it brings up a message that its going to send the update to all the attendees...and you must choose between send via mail or send via server.
    What do I do!?

Anyone? Just need to know where I can change that message and also how I can set up the icloud calender to send invites using my work email address (as configured in Mail)?

  • Calendar won't sync across devices and other issues

    Hello all,
I am running latest versions of IOS 8 on IPAD Air2, iPhone5S and latest Yosemite on IMAC intel last year model.
    There are few issues here....
In Mavericks when I edited an event in calendars it would show up almost immediately on my phone. No more. In Yosemite I would edit an event and it seems like a 50/50 chance it would RETAIN in the Yosemite calendar. And if it does, it does no sync across devices. This is a pain in my ***.
Second issue is when I use the 'shutdown' feature top left corner of OS X, the unit would begin to shut down then the spinning logo would keep spinning and unit would never shut down. The energy saver would take effect. I come from work thinking it was shut down, press the power button on back and the unit 'wakes' and continues with spinning shutdown logo.
Third issue, my iPhone randomly asks for the iCloud password, even though it is enable across all of my three devices.
Other than these issues I love Yosemite and IOS 8, but these are really kicking me from behind.
I appreciate any and all help!
    Thanks

OK, are you sure the events you are adding are added to an icloud calendar, only iCloud calendars will sync. Tap the calendar button to make sure all your calendars are iCloud calendars. Are changes making it to iCloud.com
