Syncing Offline Folders Across Multiple Machines

I have created several offline folders on my G4 laptop and G5 desktop that I would like to synchronize and keep synchronized in the future. The folders are not smart folders. I would appreciate it if anyone can provide some direction on how to accomplish this task. The folders that currently exist on each machine have my archived email and they are not the same, i.e. they do not have the same data although some of them have the same folder name. I have a .mac account and am using the sync function to sync the main mailbox.
I understand how to keep the online mailbox (name.mac.com) mailbox sync'd between machines but do not understand how to do the offline mailboxes.
Thanks for taking the time to help.

There is no way to automatically synchronize mail stored locally. Only mail stored on the server can be synchronized -- that's precisely what IMAP accounts are for. You can manually import a mailbox from one computer into the other and remove duplicates afterwards, or you can overwrite the entire contents of the Mail database on one computer with what's on the other.

  • Is there a way to create folders on one iPad and sync the folders to multiple iPads?

Is there a way to create folders on one iPad and sync the folders to multiple iPads? I have 23 iPads and I want to have all the folders match for easier access for students.

Here is a possibkle workaround, assuming the iPads are all starting out with the same initial content on them:
Backup that iPad to each computer you will be using. Then restore from the backup (only takes a couple minutes). Then rename the other 22 iPads.

  • Load balancing across multiple machines

I am looking for assistance in configuring Tuxedo to perform load balancing across
multiple machines. I have successfully performed load balancing for a service
across different servers hosted on one machine but not to another server that's
    hosted on a different machine.
Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Hello, Christina.
Load balancing with multiple machines is a little bit different than
in the same machine. One of the important resource in this kind
of application is network bandwidth, so tuxedo tries to keep the
traffic among the machines as low as possible. So, it only
balance the load (call services in other machine) in case all the
services are busy in the machine where they are call.
I mean, if you have workstation clients attached only to one
machine, then tuxedo will call services in this machine untill
    all servers are busy.
If you want load balancing, try to put one WSL in each machine,
and the corresponding configuration in your WSC ( with the | to
make tuxedo randomly choose one or the other) or spread your
native clients among all the machines.
And so, be carefull with the routing!

  • Syncing model sources across multiple WARs

One of the problems we're hitting in our development is keeping model classes synced across a multi-WAR project. For example, the model class for, say, a User object was changed in WAR B, but that developer (an intern) did not publish those changes to WARs A and C. The end result was that a few of our web service calls started failing on the unchanged WARs, while others worked fine.
I started looking into EJB3, intrigued by the @Remote and @Local setup, but those are related to the session beans themselves. I was hoping that object models could be referenced by interface across multiple WAR distributions as well, though I haven't dug up anything specific on this yet.
Is there any advice on this forum for keeping model classes in sync across a multiple-WAR project (aside from tighter repository control and swift kicks to the butt)?

My original question pertaining to ensuring that the source code for the end user model classes remained consistent. You can't if the interface contains Java classes that are changed. You immediately have to deploy updated JAR files with the new code to all the clients that need it.
The JAR idea is applicable, though not ideal, and I was hoping there was some other suggestion as to how to handle client-side objects. There is: XML messaging in the service interface instead of Java classes.

  • Sharing folders across multiple Macs

Other than an old post about now-defunct iDisk, I don't seem to easily find an answer to this on the boards so am posting my own question.
I have two Macs – an old MBPro and a newer iMac. The laptop cannot run Mountain Lion as it's too old; both devices now run Lion. Now I want to solve document sharing issues so I don't have to manually manage synchonization.
I want the content of certain folders on my iMac to be available to both devices (and preferable my iPad/iPhone as well) anywhere I go and have Internet access. Lacking Internet access, I want the last synced version available, and when I'm online again, any changes will be synced back to the cloud.
I have iCloud service (25GB for $40/year) as well as 100GB Dropbox subscription that costs me $120/year.  I don't think I need both(?)  Using more iCloud storage means that I'd pay $100/year for just 50GB.  So it seems Dropbox is the better deal at least space-for-money-wise.  The initial folder I want to share is about 7GB but I can see this growing as I sync more things.
I cannot see using simple file sharing from the iMac as it isn't always running; that is, it might be asleep or even powered off.
Anyone willing to share the "best practice" approach to getting this done in a secure way that doesn't have me worrying about some third-party accessing all the documents?
    Thank you in advance.

You can use Sugarsync for this, it is free (up to 5GB) and inexpensive if 5G is insufficient.
Once installed you can choose any combination of folders from one machine for replication on another. Changes made on either machine are reflected on the other. It will work on Macs, PC's IOS and Android devices.

  • Syncing safari tabs across multiple macs

I have a Mac Mini as my primary mac and a MBA as my "leisure" Mac. I thought with syncing that all my Safari tabs would be the same in both, like is done well with Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. However, I've just changed my Mini Safari tabs, and I went to my MBA expecting to see the same framework, and it has not updated. What do I need to do to sync across multiple macs?

The tabs are not synced, just the bookmarks. Tabs are not data or content, just a window frame for different URLs.

  • Using Gmail through Mail in Mountain Lion - issue with inbox syncing across multiple machines

Hi. I am using Gmail through Mail in Mountain Lion on my iMac, as well as Mail in my iPad and iPhone. Generally speaking Mail seems to sync well across the three machines. However for some reason when I view an email in my inbox on either my iPhone or my iPad, the inbox on my iMac does not reflect the fact the email has been read: ie, while the email is marked as having been 'read' across both my iPad and iPhone, it remains 'unread' on my iMac. It is really frustrating and stuffs up the process managing the flow of emails. Is anyone able to help me please? Thanks so much.
    Best
    Jordan

Hi SB. Thanks for your advice. I checked and I am using the recommended settings. I'm still not sure how to fix this. It's very irritating! I will read an email on my ipad, then hit my imac and see that the email is sitting unread in my Mail inbox.

  • How to sync iTunes libraries on multiple machines without copying music

    Background:
I have 4 machines running iTunes 9, all authorized with the same account. All music is on a networked storage device (NSA). Each iTunes points to the NSA for music files. Each user on each machine has their own local iTunes library for individualized playlists, etc. When music is purchased, regardless of machine, it is automatically downloaded onto the NSA. We have deselected the Advanced preference "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library". Our goal is to have one live copy of our music rather than multiple copies sprinkled about all 4 machines. We do periodic backups of the NSA.
    Question:
How do I get all the iTunes user libraries on all 4 machines to automatically reflect new music purchases? The library of the purchaser is updated just fine, but no one else's is. The Home Sharing Settings option updates the library, but it also copies over the music, defeating the purpose of one copy.
    Thanks in advance!

When I first moved to OS X I decided that all of my/our music should be in one library, with one Apple ID for purchasing/playback and iPod syncing, located someplace other than each user's home folder. Using an alias of the destination folder worked as long as we were all on one machine.
Later when we acquired a second machine the setup was similar, except that the library was on an external HD attached to the newer/faster machine and accessed over our home network. The drawback of this method is that the machine with the library on it has to be up and running (of course).
We've finally moved further into the digital world by purchasing a network drive (NAS to be precise - a My Book World II for those who wish to know), upgraded our router and network switch to GB, and have a third iMac on its way (thank you eBay).
All of our music (the library we started years ago), all of our pictures, and other miscellaneous things reside on the NAS, which is also used for TimeMachine backups (on the non public volume). The idea being that any of us can access any of the media or documents as we need or want to.
Apparently (or I've missed something simple) Apple, in their wisdom, doesn't believe that a setup like ours (and apparently others as well) should exist. That each user and/or each machine, should have their/its very own music library that no one else can have FULL access to.
Home Sharing doesn't allow what I/we've been setting up from the first day we added music to our library. Sure it lets everyone with their own library to listen to other's library's that are up and running (i.e. the machine is on, and iTunes is running).
What we want to do is have all of our machines (the two, soon to be three, iMac's and one PC running XP) access the *same library* with full read/write/burn access AT THE SAME TIME! Hence the logic in purchasing a NAS. What we can't do is have iTunes running on more than ONE machine at a time since the other network users/machines receive this message:
The iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.
Which is certainly not the case since each user/machine can access, read, write, and burn from the above library at will as long as they are the only person doing so.
Changing the permissions on the library file doesn't stick (probably because its on the NAS), otherwise I would have done that and you wouldn't be reading this.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

  • Sharing Library across multiple machines

I have a shared network drive in my house and want to have multiple computers (two Macs and one PC) all have access to the same library. I have all of the machines pointing to the same mucis folder so that is not a problem.
I would like to be able to add music to the library from any of the machines but then be able to update the individual iTunes screens to show all of the music in the folder.
After putting in several hundred songs and going to each machine and using Add Library (Add Folder to Library on the Windows PC), I now find that I have duplicated the MP3 files in the album directories. The iTunes screens on each computer only shows the songs listed once but the files are duplicated.
There has to be a way to do this without duplicating all of these files.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    David

    David,
there is no auto-sync feature build-in into iTunes.
As a workaround when adding/importing music put those tracks on a seperate playlist (or use a smart playlist) and export this playlist to a shared folder.
Then import this playlist on your two other computer.
To avoid dupes disable in iTunes Preferences Advanced "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder ...."

  • Sync iTunes library across two machine

i have a desktop (at home) and a laptop (work and travel). is it possible to have the libraries synced without having to purchase each song twice?

this is actually something i do regularly. i have a laptop and a desktop that both have the same purchased content from iTunes. the way to do it is to use the same iTunes login account on both computers. the tricky part is getting the files on both computers (last i checked anyway) but its not too hard to do it once you establish a method for doing so.
would be nice if you could purchase something on one computer and use the "check for purchases" feature on the other computer to download your purchases on multiple computers. but as far as i know, it doesnt work that way.
as long as iTunes is setup to keep the media folder organized, you could simply purchase an item on one computer, and share out your itunes folder on your local network. connect to the shared folder from the other computer, and import the media you just purchased into itunes.
as far as i know this is the only way to have the same purchased content on multiple computers. again, the key is using the same itunes account on both computers to do this.

  • Instant Syncing of Calendars Across Multiple Ipads

  • Problems syncing with exchange across multiple OSX devices

    (1) Brand new imac 27" ,latest OS, Office 2011 14.4.3
    (1) Year old macbook air, latest OS, Office 2011 14.4.3
I have a problem that is difficult to describe, so please excuse my language.  I have a macbook air that is running fine.  I am using Office 2011 with outlook connected to my corporate exchange environment.
I recently added the new iMac to my office with pretty much the same exact software and settings.
With both the Macbook Air and the iMac running Outlook concurrently, both machines do not sync and Outlook does not update.  For instance, when someone sends me an email it doesn't get delivered until after I close Outlook on one of the devices.  It didn't seem to matter which device it was.  The same behavior was present on both.
I found lots of discussion on the web about syncing problems but nothing so far that addressed the exact issues I have discovered.
    Has anyone discovered this?

iTunes 11 is somewhat better at device recognition, BUT MDCrashtool runs and locks after an iphone5 WiFi sync. My ipad3 doesn't sync wirelessly rather by cable on purpose.  Hmmmm.  And if one disconnects a device with the upward arrow, I, atleast, had to restart itunes.  There appears no way to reconnect with a wireless syncing device, short of restarting and plugging at least one device in via usb cable.
So back to the fix of this tip.  Buy more cables.

  • Syncing contacts & calendar across multiple desktops

Hi - I have a PC laptop and a Mac Mini.  I'd like to get the contacts and address book synced between them, but can't for the life of me work out how to do this.  It seems that mobile exchange (?) was the way to do it, but that we're now in limbo before the Cloud comes out...but there must be another solution?
Ideally they'd sync in relatively real time, but if it's just a manual process (e.g. via my iphone) it would be a great start (unfortunately the iphone only seems to sync withe one desktop?)
    Any thoughts much appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to sync app folders across 2 iphones?

I have 2 iPhones (because I need two numbers and because one is a company phone).
I have a lot of apps installed on both phones, and I've spent quite a bit of time organising them into thematic folders. Ideally, I'd like to have the same folder layouts on both phones, but this is a purely manual process right now.
I'm shortly going to replace my personal 4S with a 6, so I'm trying to see how I can ensure all the apps on the 4S appear on the 6, in their folders and pages.
    Any ideas?
    Gareth

    You can try this:
from iMessage enable your email to receive on both devices
    For SMS enable message forwarding

  • Sync send folders and templates between multiples devices

    hello there,
I have to send many emails and use a lot of templates as I am a sole trader and I contact ppl to find work. I need a solution to keep sent folders of emails, all contacts and also template folders on multiple devices in sync. I am using 2 pc's and one Ipad currently.
I would further like to sync with a macbook I am going to but soon. Unforutnately I dont know of any email client able to do that yet.
Is Thunderbird able to do that? Or is a feature like that currently in developement? I might have to try outlook for this. But honestly I dont like Microsoft. I would much prefer to use Thunderbird. I would even be willing to pay money for this feature. I am so desperate for an email programm to be able to synchronize a complete account with all templates I made etc on multiple devices.
I would greatly appreciate if you could take out the time to help me

This is an email protocol thing and not an email client thing.
IMAP syncs different folders across multiple devices. POP only connects to the Inbox of the email server.
