Syncing one unit to two desktop

Greetings -
I'd like to be able to sync my Treo to the same set of databases through two different computers. I'm thinking of maybe storing the data in the cloud somewhere and then be able to sync to the data from my home and work computers. One device, one set of data, two instances of the Palm Desktop on two different computers.
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Can I sync one iPhone via two computers (MacBook and Windows XP) using iTunes?

    My idea is the following:
    Sync one iPhone using iTunes installed on two computers:
    from Windows XP:
    * Outlook 2010 contacts
    * Outlook 2010 calendar
    * music
    from MacBook:
    * contacts
    OR
    from Windows XP:
    * Outlook 2010 contacts
    * Outlook 2010 calendar
    from MacBook:
    * contacts
    * music
    Can I do this?
    How would I have to do the set-up?
    Additional question: Can I buy apps from iTunes App Store on either of the two computers and having them downloaded automatically on the iPhone?

    You can't. You can only sync with one library at a time. I is possible, though not recommended, to sync contacts with one computer and media with another. There is no way to sync contacts with more than one computer.
    The best idea would be to sync it with your MacBook and the cloud, and sync Outlook on the PC with the cloud.
    Since iCloud requires Windows 7, you would probably be best to sync contacts and calendars with Google or Yahoo.

  • How do I sync one iPhone with two laptops using iTunes (not iCloud)?

    I just got a new iPhone 4S and want to sync it with two separate laptops (using the simple cable procedure, not iCloud) -- my old(er) MacBook Pro2.2 15", with Intel Core 2 Duo running System 10.5.8, and my new MacBook Pro with Intel Core i7 running Lion.
    I tried this once before and got chaos -- syncing on the second laptop gave me multiple entries in my calendar and address book. I don't want to go through this again until I know the right procedure, if there is one.

    When you get your new laptop repaired, transfer your iTunes library & other important data to your new computer. When you first sync your phone to this computer, all iTunes content will be erased from your phone. However since you've copied your iTunes library to your new computer, just sync the content back to your phone.

  • Is it possible to sync one iPhone to two Macs? One for the music library and one for contacts, emails etc

    At home I have two Macs, one for work and another which acts as a sort of entertainment hub storing all my music, podcasts and videos as well as being for the family to use.
    Is it possible to sync my one iPhone to both Macs, with the work one just syncing things like my contacts, emails, calendars and apps while the other Mac would sync just the podcasts and music to the iPhone.
    Would this cause any problems and what is the correct way to go about this?
    Thanks for any help, tips and advice.

    As wjosted said, it's possible, but it's not recommended.
    Email does not sync with a computer. Only email account information is. Mail itself is synced with the mail server.
    Why not just sync with the computer you keep your media on and use iCloud (or whatever cloud service you want) to sync the rest? Seems simpler to me.

  • Can you sync one iPhone to two computers?

    I usually sync my iPhone to an iMac where I download new apps, keep my music, etc. But when I'm not at home I have a MacBook and I want to use its iTunes (same account) to download apps instead of using iPhone battery to do that. Can I do it without messing up?
    I also have an iCloud account, if that helps.
    Another question, probably related:
    What's the purpose of WiFi sync if you have to use the cable? Does a WiFi sync update the computer or the iCloud?
    thanks

    I sync each of my iOS devices to two different Macs. I haven't had any problems syncing apps and backups of each device to both Macs. Both copies of iTunes are logged in under the same iCloud account, so there's no conflict with the list of authorized apps. I would not attempt this if each iTunes was logged into a different account.
    If you want to sync anything else, you could get into trouble real fast. You need to be very aware of the different sync categories across the top in iTunes. For example, you can sync photos to one computer and podcasts to another, as long as you never turn on the same category on both Macs because that will cause each computer to overwrite the other's data. But since you said you don't want to sync music or photos, that shouldn't be a problem for you.
    WiFi sync exists so that you don't have to grab a cable just to do a sync. It's convenient, but it's a lot slower than cable sync.

    It's probably more accurate to say that iOS devices are designed to sync with only one account.

  • Is there any way to Sync one ipod to two computers?

    I have recently bought my self a new laptop, and I was wondering if there was any way I could sync my fifth generation ipod to it and my old computer with out deleting all the songs on my ipod. Is there any way to sync an Ipod to more than one computer at a time, with out it having all the songs, or videos deleted? If so how do I do it?

  • Sync one iphone with two pc,

    I have an iphone 3gs and i have a new pc at home along with my laptop, the itunes that I have always did the sync with my iphone is on the laptop so if I use itunes on the new pc, with the same iphone it says that if I sync all the music, or apps, contacts whatever that are on the iphone with be deleted and replaced with the data that is on the itunes on the new pc, but there are none on it. no music or apps or photos nothing. so I thought it would copy what is on my iphone now and put it on the new pc, or at least with home sharing turned on, i would have all the same music and apps and stuff that i have on the old pc now, but that does not seem right? or is it? or how can I make this work?
    thanks for any help.

    This is exactly right.
    The iphone will sync itunes content and pics with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.
    You need to put everything on one computer and sync from there.

  • 2 iPhones and 1 Computer PLUS can I sync one phone in two places?

    Wonderful people of the community... I need some guidance.
    My spouse and I both have iPhones now. Can both be synced to the same computer without problems or do I need to create a new account on the computer for my wife? Do I need to create a new iTunes account for her?
    Also, is there a way that she can sync her iPhone at our home computer for her contacts, music, videos, etc. on our iMac and then sync it at her office for just the calendar items?
    Thanks for your help

    "Can both be synced to the same computer"
    Yes. My wife and I do this. You can sync as many as you like to one computer. Each is a different device and can be set up to sync whatever you like.
    "Also, is there a way that she can sync her iPhone at our home computer for her contacts, music, videos, etc. on our iMac and then sync it at her office for just the calendar items?"
    Yes. Disable automatic syncing on both computers - to avoid an accidental sync. Then set the work computer to sync calendar and not to sync anything else ( done via the taps in itunes). Do the same at home, only select to sync everything but calendar.

  • Sync one folder two machines - Is it really that hard.

    Sync one folder two machines - Is it really that hard.
    I have one folder (with a bunch of subfolders totally 3k of image files) I'd like to mirror them on both my laptop and desktop machines.
    I'd like the Desktop machine to mirror everything on the laptop and when I travel with the laptop I add images once I return everything new will be copied over.
    Things I don't want in this system
    • Third party software, If the OSX 10.4.8 can do it all the better
    • Having to Manually hit a sync button. (But willing to budge on this one)
    • It Making a duplicate copy of the folder each and everytime it connects.
    I have looked at a few free items on mac's website:
    Auto-backup Script (written in 2000)
    http://www.apple.com/applescript/folderactions/05.html
    Sync Folders 0.9 (written in 2004)
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/syncfolders.html
    But I can't seem to get either to work on my machines The script is asking me to do something that I can't even phyically do anymore in 10.4.8
    any idea's or suggestions?
    Thanks

    So much for other people having lives to live...
    I'd help you out if I knew anything about rsync, and
    I'm sure many others would, too, but apparently the
    ones who do know are doing other things. Considering
    it's a weekend, that really shouldn't be surprising.
    There are people and companies that give such
    immediate service for a fee. Look around and I'm sure
    you'll find one that'll offer to not only advise you
    but will also create the solution for you. They'll
    even you let you have the solution, for a price.
    Azqi, please don't belittle me about how the captitalism works in the world. I might been in a small community outside Vancouver that doesn't even have a large MAC dealership who could answer my question. I was already at the shop that does deal in mac because I wanted to SHOP LOCAL. I am perfectly aware I am on a FREE forum and have a life outside of this forum also! I waited four days before I said what I said and before my little question was lost in the forums. If I had 300 responses to my question like yours I'd never return. . . .
    I am just saying that it has been a bit of a cold welcome to these forums, as this isn't the first question that has gone unanswered. . . . and thanks to some helpful folks it isn't.

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

    This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
    We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
    Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
    We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
    If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

    I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
    First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
    Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
       Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
    From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
    This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.

  • Can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone?

    I want to buy some songs from a HK Apple ID and a JP Apple ID.
    I just hope the songs of two Apple ID can appear in one iPhone.
    But I don't want can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone.

    Are you currently in Japan or Hong Kong ? You have to be in a country (and have a billing address in that country on your account) to buy or download from its store, that is included in the store's terms.
    You can sync content from different accounts from your computer's iTunes library.

  • Making first two digits of all cells increment one unit

    hi friends
    i am not expert in MS Excel & i need an urgent help.
    i had created a long excel sheet in Excel 2013 which i paste a part of that sheet here:
    the list is very long.
    now for some reasons, i have to edit this sheet so that in all cells, the first two digits from left increment one unit, as i have manually done that in the following figure. ( note: i don't want the color get read. i changed the color only to better view)
    the problem is that i don't do that manually because there are hundreds of cells & that takes long time.
    please introduce me all the methods which i can do that at once. (the format of all cells is text).
    really thanks in advanced

    Use this formula, starting in row 1 and copy down. Copy the result, use paste special to paste as Values over column A. Delete the formula.
    =TEXT(LEFT(A1,2)+1,"00")&MID(A1,3,99)
