Syncing Outlook contacts/calendars to iCloud? Back up .pst file first!

I see many people are having issues with losing calendars and contacts, or getting duplicates, when turning on iCloud "sync to Outlook" option. Suggestion, if you haven't already messed things up - save a renamed copy of your Outlook (2007 or 2010) "outlook.pst" file (or whatever .pst file holds your personal Outlook data) BEFORE you start. In a worst case, you can always turn iCloud off and replace the .pst file with the backup, and you will have your calendar and contacts (as of that date) as they were. (Outlook account settings - Data Files - Open File Location).
I have managed not to need it yet, but glad I have it. I still have occasional Calendar items disappearing from Outlook - work shifts, not good! Hopefully Apple will make this easier! Great when it works!

After trying many options to fix this problem, the following was determined: If you were previously using another type of PDA/Smartphone with Outlook, your IPHONE may not properly sync your calendar, contacts, etc. For whatever reason, there is a conflict. SOLUTION: you need to save/export your contact/calendar info, then completely delete everything out of Outlook, then import back in. I wasnt able to do this w/2007, instead I exported and then made a new user profile (on my computer) and then dragged my saved files there. A minor pain in the a$$, but oh well. Thought I would pass this along, as it has to ******* someone else off as well! Good luck!

I thought I read somewhere that you had to make sure there were no other PDA plugins in Options>Other>Advanced options>COM Add-ins. I think if there is another plugin for a device other than the iPhone, it has problems.

TS4118 I have synced outlook 2010 calendar with icloud, But....

I now have 2 calendars; the outlook default personal .pst with no data and my icloud with everything in it. If I create an appointment in the default calendar it does not sync to my iOS devices, and no appointments/tasks appear in the to do bar as they are all in icloud which isnt the default. If it is then imap mail accounts don't work. So I actually have to duplicate all appointments to get both things working!!
It would seem to be that these are pretty fundemental bugs. I want 1 calendar on my windows PC that syncs everything to my iPhone and iPad ..... does such a possibility exist? is Apple working on fixing these bugs.......any thoughts?

Are you sure you are going about this the right way? Where are you seeing their names with the '!'?
Go to your calendars at http://icloud.com and click on the Share icon for the calendar in question:
In the pop-up pane choose 'Private Calendar' and enter the @me.com email address, hit return and then click 'View and Edit' to set write privileges:
Click 'Share'.
If this is what you are doing and it's not working, please describe exactly what happens (screenshot if possible).

New WIn7 installed, prior data wiped. Empty contact lists and calendars. All stillon iPhone. What will synching do? Copy iPhone data to outlook contacts/calendar? or copy enpty PC files to iPhone, essentially deleting last place data is saved?

Will the iPhone data populate the and, essentially, delete my last data resords? I know- prior to disc wipe, records entered either on PC or iPhone would cross copy to the iPhone or PC. That was only 2 -4 records at a time. We're talking >100 records at prresent. Can I jut sync, and not worry amd find all contacts BOTH places?

You would sync Outlook via iTunes on the computer. Connect the iPhone to the computer, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes running, select the iPhone in iTunes and it will display the Summary page. Select the Info tab, and there you would select what you want to sync calendar and contacts to. Make sure since this is the first time you have done a sync that whichever of the devices is new to the sync process has at least one unique contact/calendar event to get iTunes to prompt you for a merge or replacement. FIX FOR OUTLOOK CONTACT - CALENDAR SYNC PROBLEMS

OK Guys. I have figured out the problem with Itunes not syncing the OUTLOOK CONTACTS & CALENDAR EVENT PROBLEM (For those who have this problem). So without further due....
1) Go to Outlook/Tools/Option/Others/Advanced Options/ADDIN MANAGER
2) Remove the check box in front of "OR Stuffit OL Extention" and click OK
3)Go to COMS ADD IN and you should now be able to CHECK MARK the OUTLOOK ITUNES SYNC ADDIN.
Click OK all the way back to OutLook AND SYNC.

Let me complement my post with some info that might have help performing the above fix.
I spend about 3 hours on the phone troubleshooting this issue with Apple Iphone team last night. Before I found the FIX myself, They had me do the following:
(XP OS ONLY)
Exercise # 1:
Go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS:
Remove Itune software
Remove all IPOD related software
Remove all APPLE related software
remove Quicktime
reboot
Reinstall Itunes.
Exercise # 2:
Reboot Iphone
Exercise #3:
Restore Iphone (Make sure there is nothing that you cannot get back on the Iphone before Restoring and make sure you have Internet connection as the Iphone is restored from

NOT outlook to iclout. there are 6325 contacts in icloud. only 12 in outlook. about 10 days ago i had same amount in OL and icloud. i had to restore my computer PC. My iphone is correct. Try the below steps on your iPhone,
Go to settings>iCloud and Login with your Apple Id.
Contacts should be on, click on it to turn it off and choose keep (even if it shows you no contacts)
When the process is done go ahead and turn on contacts again, choose merge. All your contacts should show up if you had a previous backup to icloud.

I had the identical problem. I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
1. Connect the 4s to the computer.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
4. Click on the info tab.
5. Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
6. Ditto for Calendars.
7. Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes. I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s. That did the trick.

I have a question about email. I have several thousand emails in 10 or so days. How can I select multiple emails for deletion in stead of one at a time? How do I designate emails from a given sender as junk or block certain senders?

I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

If you using on a windows pc, maybe you should reinstall the iCloud Control Panel. You can download the latest version from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455?viewlocale=en_US
If you cant see your changes on icloud.com than you have trouble between outlook and icloud. this is the part of the icloud control panel.

I am unable to sync neither my calendar nor my contacts to my brand new 160GB iPod classic from iTunes 7.5. All ticked and enabled in preferences, I am aufait with iTunes so I have all the settings correctly enabled - I believe my stumbling block is Outlook/Office 2007 Enterprise Edition??? I have switched to Vista in the last few weeks but that is not the root of the problem, as I had this problem first on my last machine - XP HOME.

This is because I cannont upgrade to Lion and I do not want to get duplicate contacts when I sync from the computer 10.6.8 to my iPhone iOS5. You should not upgrade to Lion upless you have 4GB of ram. Lion does not support rosita so all your old programs will not funtion and you have to repurchase all old software the is working fine.
