Syncing Outlook w/ USB cable very slo-o-ow

This is the second time I'm syncing the Q10 with  MS-Outlook directly conected to the computer using a USB cable.
The first time (3 days ago ) when I synced it was quite slow. But I assumed it was because it was the first time I  had synced it (one way only, computer to device).
It's now been over a half hour and the Q10 sync has not finished syncing and simply repeats a slow moving progress bar with the text "Getting status information from BlackBerry Calendar" over and over. As soon as the progress bar reaches the far right (100%?) it re-starts again from 0.
I previously owned an 'antique' BlackBerry Pearl that synced the same Outlook account in less than 10-15 minutes.
Is this normal behaviour? If so, are there third-party apps that work (a lot) faster?

i have the same issue synching with my computer on windows 8.
From what I've read (+ the general silence to this thread) I assume it's something that we'll have to live with until BB comes up with a Link update to improve things. One hour to do what a 7-year old BB device could do in 5-10 minutes is definately not something anyone would consider normal behaviour. And I'm certainly not going to upload my personal data to any cloud based sync/storage if that's what's recommended by BB. Guess we'll just have to be patient ...

  • Second hand PALM Z22. Can't get it to sync. Wrong USB cable???

    Hello all.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.  I received a Palm z22 second hand and would like to sync it for the first time.  However, I notice the USB cable it came with is not the original. Seems the original has some kind of button on it you're supposed to be able to press.  Can I make it sync with a regular USB cord?  Everything seems to work fine just can't get it to syn.
    Thanks.
    Rebecca

If the cable doesn't have a button try these steps
    1. Plug in and connect to your computer
    2. Launch the "Hotsync" application on the device
    3. Tap on the icon on the screen
This should then initiate a hotsync operation.

  • TS4062 my iPhone suddenly will no longer sync using a USB cable to my desktop computer

When I connect my iPhone V to my desktop to sync, I hear the tones that my computer saw the iPhone connect on the USB port. However, iTunes no longer sees the phone and will not sync anymore. HELP.

  • Desktop Software doesn't work/ Can't Sync BB thru USB cable

I bought a new micro SD for my BB and as soon as I plugged in the BB with the SD inside my desktop software went haywire.
Doesn't want to link up with the BB device, won't back up the data on my phone - nothing!
So I followed some bad advice and uninstalled all the BB software from my PC.
And now when I try to re-dl the software it says I'm missing a key file on my hard drive to install the product package.
    What should I do?

    Hello Mesquite95,

  • Hot sync usb cable

instructions on how to crank this puppy up say "press hot-sync button on usb cable". No gots! Musta been lost 08/05. Anyone know where to get?
    This question was solved.

The Z does not have a cable with a hotsync button. The device does come with a screen tap for hotsync. It should look like two arrows going in a circle chasing each other. Connect the USB cable that came with this device and tap on this icon.

  • Unable to sync outlook calendar since ios 6 upgrdae

    Hi,
Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4S to iOS 6 my MS outlook calendar which I use at work has not been syncing on the phone. At work I use a PC with Windows 7. I use a Mac at home to sync apps etc and back up my iphone.
Its very wierd because 5-7 mins after I check the Exchange calendar in the Calendar edit mode it automatically unchecks itself. Even if it shows as checked the events don't get synced. I have also done a factory reset though itunes and resynced it with the back up profile, but to no avail.
Everything was working fine with iOS 5.1.1
Will be extremely grateful for any help
    Thanks

The iTunes on my MacBook Pro 17 (Mountain Lion) would not sync with my iPad 3 and iPhone GS, both with IOS 6.  Worked fine prior to the OS & IOS upgreade.
Today, I took my MBP, iPhone 3GS, and iPad 3 to the Apple store to try syncing at that location.  I was unable to sync in the Apple store. I spent 30 minutes with technical support at the Genius Bar, but he was unable to make the syncing work properly.  It will only sync using a USB cable.  It will not sync in wireless mode.  The strange part is that wireless syncing will occur occasionally.  The mobile devices will mount properly in the iTunes Devices menu approximately 1 out of every 15-20 attempts.
The Genius Bar technician finally consulted with other technicians "in the back" and was informed that the problem I was having was an IOS 6/Mountain Lion "emerging issue" that would be addressed in a future update.
I checked the Apple support site to discover that hundreds of other Apple customers are having the same problem.

  • Can't sync outlook appts

When I do a sync I have all kind of problems, the biggest of which is that nothing that I put on my outlook calendar will download/sync to my blackberry.  Everything that was in outlook on my initial sync is there, but I can't get anything that I put directly on outlook on my desktop to sync to my blackberry.  I'm having the same problem with getting things that I put directly on my blackberry to sync to my outlook - but that is hit or miss.  That is, sometimes it syncs, somettmes it doesn't.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry link a few times and that didn't help.
The other issue I have is with the length of time it takes to sync. It gets to the last screen where it looks like it is finished and it stops with the message "Suncing your contacts and calendar appointments.  Do not disconnect your device."  It will literally sit on this screen for 30 minutes to an hour or more.  And then I eventually get a message that the sync failed because it didn't write anything to the device.
Help!  I really like the Q10, but if I can't sync the calendar it's a deal-breaker and I've got to give in to the iphone or something else.....

It sounds to me like you're trying to use multiple systems when one would be enough.
I recommend using either email for calendar OR use wired sync to outlook and don't sync calendars wirelessly on the BB. Don't try to do both. If you have those same email accounts integrated with your BB then you should get the calendars associated with those email accounts sync'd to the BB wirelessly. If you're then trying to sync using a usb cable for those same calendars through Outlook you are just creating a mess.
See if you can get all your calendar items exported to one account and then import them into a cloud service. I recommend Outlook.com. Then everything will sync from Outlook.com to your BB device. I also understand the desire to get BBM groups calendars into a PC location but it's just not possible.
If you can get everything into one place, like Outlook.com you can sync that with Outlook using the Hotmail connector and then the outlook.com account will sync nicely with the Q10. That's what I do.

  • Sync mail from Outlook to iPhone via USB Cable

I have a problem by synchronizing my iPhone with my Outlook 2007.
I want to synchronize my Outlook mail, contacts and calendar by using iTunes.
I have set iTunes to synchronize via USB Cable and it works for the contacts and calendar but I can’t see my mail.
I assume the mail should be at the bottom “Mail” on my iPhone?
I have set iTunes to sync mail to Outlook but I can’t se anything
How do I set op iTunes to sync my mail to the phone?
Please help as I can only find answers for problems with Push server….
    Thanks in advance:)

iTunes does not support syncing email account mailboxes and messages with an email client on your computer. The option under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for email accounts is for transferring the email account settings from a supported application on your computer to the iPhone's Mail client only so you don't have to manually create the account.
If you want to keep mailboxes synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account, you need an IMAP account which is specifically designed for this.

  • Using the USB cable to sync my blackberry deletes all calendar entries older than 3 mos

I'm not very good at this kind of thing, so please pardon what I'm sure will be mistakes/omissions as I describe my problem.
Every time I sync my blackberry using the USB cable (I'm told by my boyfriend who is an IT guy that I can't sync it wirelessly although I don't know why), all of my calendar entries in Outlook get erased--that is, all the entries that are older than 3 mos.  I frequently use those entries as reference so I can't lose them--so now I'm terrified to sync my blackberry.
Any help will be much appreciated!

I just found this on the support page and am going to try it for a couple of days to see if it solves the problem:

    Overview
When synchronizing the Calendar via the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, past calendar events are being deleted on the desktop calendar application.
    Cause
Calendar items on the BlackBerry smartphone were deleted as a result of the keep appointments setting in the Calendar was set to delete older appointments.
    Resolution
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
    Task 1
Configure the BlackBerry smartphone to keep past appointments:
Open the Calendar application on the BlackBerry smartphone and press the Menu key.
Select Options and then General Options.
Within General Options set the Keep Appointments options to Forever.
    Task 2
Configure BlackBerry Desktop Manager calendar synchronization options:
For BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.5 to 5.0:
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Select Synchronize from the main menu of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Select the Synchronization link and click on the button labeled Synchronization to configure the synchronization settings on the BlackBerry smartphone.
    Select the Calendar.
Select the option to Synchronize with Microsoft Outlook and click Next.
Select either the Two way or One way sync and click Next.
Select the Default profile for Microsoft Outlook.
For the Calendar date range select the option to Synchronize items within a range of days, configure the date range to sync 30 days in the past and 365 days in the future.
    Click Next.
Continue through the configuration wizard and click Finish and then OK.
    Perform a new synchronization.
For BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.2 and 4.3:
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Select Synchronize from the main menu of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Click on the Configuration tab and then on Configure Sync.
If you are still prompted to make deletions from Microsoft Outlook for past calendar events that were not manually deleted, then you may need to repeat the steps above and synchronize with a smaller date range for past events.
For BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 1.0 for Mac OS:
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the Mac with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Select Calendar.
    Select Two-Way.
Select All Calendars or Selected Calendar, checkmark calendars to use during synchronization.
    Select Advanced Settings.
For the Calendar date range select the option to Only events, configure the date range to sync 30 days prior and 365 days after.
    Click on Sync.

  • How do I remove one of the calendars from iCloud but keep it on the iPhone to sync with Outlook by USB and keep the other calendars synced on iCloud ?

iPhone 5, Macs and iPads at home, Windoze7 system at work.
Using iCloud to sync calendars, contacts, etc on all the home devices.  Used USB cable to sync at work with the Windows system, with the Outlook 2010 corporate account (corporate server).  I need only the Outlook calendar to be synced, syncing the contacts created too many problems with duplication, etc.  No need for that.  Worked fine until the latest upgrate to iOS7 and iTunes 11.1.  Used to have a calendar that was not on iCloud and was simply and exclusively syncing between the iPhone and the Windows computer at work. The other 3 calendars synced fine with the macs and iOS devices via iCloud but not with the machine at work - keeping private records private.
Upon the iOS upgrade, all calendars are now on iCloud.  I am no longer able to remove one - for security too - from the iCloud and sync it with the Windows computer exclusively.  I managed to sync it once on the PC with iTunes by switching iCloud off on the iPhone before connection by USB cable.  Trying it again, it tells me that it will erase all items on the Outlook account (the "more than 25% of your records are going to change" alert) and won't add or modify any.  I stopped the sync in time...
Tried on the iCloud site for a solution to remove the calendar, nothing.
There is no iCloud setup on this corporate computer - no access permitted. The USB cable connection is the only solution and up to the upgrade of the iOS this went seamlessly.
    Any solution out there?
    Thanks
    Vladski

I share a similar situation (usb iTunes sync with Outlook with my corporate laptop; personal calendar on icloud).
With IOS7, at first, iTunes/Windows does not propose Outlook sync anymore. I need to switch off calendar from iTunes to enable usual usb sync with Outlook. I had to sync it twice while checking "replace iphone data" to get a stable behaviour (like before) IOS7.When I try to re-enable icloud calendars, it proposes me to merge them...
I did not test merging so far...
IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 are not completely polished ;-)

  • Sync Outlook contacts and calendar with iTunes between iPhone 4 and Outlook 2010 (32bits) USB only manually, not automatically.

    Hello guys,
After disabeling and enabeling the option automatic sync iPods, iPhones and iPad in iTunes (settings > devices), my iPhone 4 is only syncing manually and not automatically as before the option change.
With manually sync I mean connecting the usb cable and pushing the synchronisation button in iTunes. I reinstalled Outlook (Office 2010 32bit) and iTunes but it did not solve the problem and it's still only manually syncing. I also renewed the Windows Profile. Is there an option I missed in iTunes or Outlook? In Outlook is the iTunes Outlook Addin present and enabled....
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks, William

Hi, could you specify what you did. It appears that nothing on my iPhone syncs any more. I have an iMac and iPhone 4 running the latest system updates. Thanks!

  • If I upgrade to Lion and migrate MobileMe to iCloud, can I still sync my 2nd generation iPod Touch to my MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo) via USB cable?

I am very reluctantly considering upgrading to Lion and going ahead and migrating MobileMe to iCloud before June 2012. If I upgrade and migrate, will I still be able to sync my 2nd generation iPod Touch via USB cable? Or will these changes force me to get a new iPod that can run iOS 5 because syncing will be nightmarish?

Thanks for your reply. I would prefer to keep using this iPod for a while yet. Cheers!

iPhone contacts: file transfer to Windows 7 via USB-cable
My iPhone can communicate with the computer only via USB-cable (no mobile data, no bluetooth, no internet, no outlook). As I want to get the phone to the "doctor" I want to save specifically my contact data and calendar details on the computer (OS: Windows 7). How can I solve this task? I will appreciate your valuable information, thanks.

Using the iPhone, the USB cable, iTunes and Windows Contacts, sync the iPhone contacts to Windows Contacts. That will save them there. They are also included in the iPhone backup made in iTunes, and if you use iCloud.
I'm sorry, I missed the calendar part the first time I looked. For calendar, you need a supported application on the computer (Outlook) or if you use iCloud, you can use the iCloud contacts and calendar app to sync.

  • Palm V connecting with sync/charge usb cable to OS X Tiger 10.4.4

I recently bought a very nifty cable that lets my palm v charge and sync with my mac through USB. Sweet, no more bulky charging base, outlet use, or need for a serial anything. =)
But I cant get it to work.
On the package I was supposed to go to
    http://shop.brando.com.hk/p5usbsynccharger.php and download the driver.
I am used to windows machines so this seemed normal.
    I downloaded this
    http://shop.brando.com.hk/files/p5usb_mac_osx10.1.x.zip
    Even though I have 10.4.4
    So a couple of questions,
First: from examing the package contents can anyone tell me what files I would need to delete if I wanted to revert to pre installation?
Second: I guess I expected my Palm to show up as a disk on my desktop. I have iSync and Palms software for Mac tiger and Palm V (same program) but I am not able to sync (maybe I just dont know what I am doing in the program and this is where I am spending most of my efforts)
My fears are: that palms program would have worked fine with this cable and I didnt need to download this package and by loading it have screwed up palms communication skills. And that I will never get to use this thing.
Sadly I am realizing it will never mesh with iCal no matter what I do.
    Boo Hoo
    Help appreciated =)

According to your post you downloaded 10.1.x.zip. Linked a little further down the page is another driver labeled 'Newest Mac driver'. It's not the same file you have listed. It's a .sit file which means you'll need Stuffit (if you don't already have it) to expand the file. So, for starters it would probably help to get the current most driver. Additionally there was another link on that page which has help notes. If you haven't already done so then check here to see if there's anything that may assist you. I have a Palm and have no trouble using the Palm Desktop software, even after upgrading to 10.4.4. I too use a USB cable to sync and charge the unit.
Regarding iSync, your model Palm is not on the supported list. You'll most likely need to download Missing Sync to try getting it working with iSync. Also, the Palm never shows up on the desktop as a drive, at least not for me. Please post back with your progress.

  • Can I sync a MacBook Pro to my iMac.......like syncing my iPhone or iPod Touch...using a common USB cable?

    Hullo all.
Am curious to know whether I can, on a regular basis, sync my new MacBook Pro to my main machine, the 27 inch iMac?
Obviously I do this with my iPhone, iPad2 and my iPod Touch.
I guess I would use a USB to USB cable...which I have, to allow the two Mac's to talk to each other.
Any suggestions? I do have Chronosync...should I try this application?

ps, I did buy the new iPad2 and love it...but, for all its brilliance , it is not a MBP......obviously!

Comment was an after thought! But it might help explain my situation!

Hi all, a bit surprised at total lack of feedback!
Maybe with the Cloud coming, we don't need to worry about manually syncing devices!!
So, can I conclude that you can't really 'sync' a MacBook to an iMac?
    Appreciate an answer
    Thanks
