Syncing photos on iPad without deleting current photos

If you sync photos from your pc to iPad using iTunes are all the photos on the iPad deleted if not on the pc?

The photos that you last synced to the iPad will be replaced by your new selection - non-synced photos (i.e. those taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera conenction kit or sawsved from emails/websites) will not be affected, and nor will the photos on your compter.
Synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are removed be not including them in the next photo sync.

How do I upload photos from my PC to my ipad without deleting the photos already on my ipad???

The iTUnes sync syncs the contents of a folder you choose. ANd it handles only one folder at a time.
What I did to keep things straight, was to make a separate folder inside the 'my photos' part of my computer. Then put in that folder copies of things I wanted on my iPad. I could then add/remove from that folder as the mood struck and since everything in there was a copy I wouldn't lose any. (you would add/remove from the folder, then do a sync to allow iTunes to update that folder on  your iPad to match the folder on your PC)
Another way, to get away from maintaining a folder, if you don't have a ton of photos, just e-mail them to yourself, save them from that e-mail. Keep them on the iPad as long as you like, then you can delete them as you wish. Photos that are synced onto the iPad must be synced off (as in removed from that folder then a sync performed to remove them)
E-mailing the photos to yourself gives you more flexibility in managing them on the iPad.

  • How can I add photos from my mac to my ipad without deleting the photos on my ipad, How can I add photos from my mac to my ipad without deleting the photos on my iPad, How can I add photos from my mac to my ipad without deleting the photos on my iPad

I have photos on my Ipad that I copied from my PC (that I am selling) & now want to add my photos from my Mac to keep them all in one place.  When I try to sync it says it will delete the photos on my Ipad unless they were taken with the Ipad.  How can I just add what is on my Mac to my Ipad without deleting what is on my Ipad?

"OK, so how do I transfer images to my computer? "
This has been answered.  The sync is one way - computer to ipad.  You can e-mail them to yourself.
" Whenever I connect the iPad to my Mac I get a message telling me that all the photos on the iPad will be replaced. Why?"
This is the design of the product.  It will sycn with one computer.  Sycning to anotehr will erase hte current content.  The ipad simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
"When I connect my mp3 player to my PC, at home, I can find the player in Explorer and edit the contents, move or delete files, add files from my computer etc. All under my controll, simple and easy."
OK.  This is not the case with the  ipad.  It is not designed as a storage device.

  • Removing photos from iPad without deleting them from computer?

I just bought an Apple Mac  air laptop.  I have uploaded all my photos from my iPad and, iPod touch.  I need space on my iPad.  Can I delete pictures from my iPad without deleting from the Apple Mac air laptop?  Do I need to change settings on the iPad device:
    1.  iCloud - already increased
    2. Photo stream
I don't know how else to make room for more apps or music unless I remove photos.  Please help!

What do you mean that you uploaded them? If you think that they are being stored in iCloud, then you cannot rely on that. Camera roll photos are backed up in iCloud but can only be restored if you restore the entire backup. You cannot selectively restore photos or files from iCloud. You restore everything or nothing at all.
If you remove the photos and then backup again with iCloud you also stand the chance of overwriting that backup that has the photos in it with a backup that includes none of the photos at all. Then you would have no photos to restore anyway.
If you imported the photos to the Mac using this method, you can safely delete the photos from the iPad without worrying about them being deleted from the Mac.

You don't really sync photos from the devices to the Mac, you import them to an app; iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture. During that process you are given an option to erase the photos from the device. Is this not the manner that you used?

  • Is there a way to import photos to iPad without syncing to iTunes?

I have pictures on my MacBook Pro that my friend would like to have on her iPad. There are A LOT of pictures. I have read the article about syncing photos via iTunes. In that article, it says that "syncing photos with a different computer or user replaces the photos on the device." Deleting current photos on her iPad is not an option. Emailing the photos and then saving them on the Ipad would take too long.
Is there a way (other than emailing or syncing the iPad via iTunes) to get thoes pictures from my MacBook Pro to her iPad?
MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) with OS X Mavericks (10.9)
    iPad 2 with iOS 6.1.3

Yes there is. Use iCloud Photo Stream. You can share up to 1,000 photos in one album, up to 100 albums with up to 100 people per album.
You must first make sure you have iCloud Photo Sharing switched on in iPhoto.
    1. iPhoto Preferences > iCloud > Photo Sharing (check box ticked)
    2. Create an Album with the photos of your friend (up to 1,000 photos)
    3. Follow instuctions from this Apple Help link to "Create a shared photostream" http://help.apple.com/iphoto/mac/9.5/#phtf7fe6394
    4. Your friend will receive an invitation to accept your shared photostream and once accepted all the photos will appear on your friends iPad.

If you Restore using last computer you synced to the password will be removed and you can restore the last backup on your computer, which includes your camera roll.
If you enabled Photo Stream in iCloud your photos are in Photo Stream.
If you had installed one of the many apps that can upload photos to a photo sharing site and had used it you will have your photos.
If you have done none of these things you are out of luck. The phone comes with many tools to preserve content, but you have to use them.

I had created two photo albums on my ipad, by transferring photos from my hp laptop. I want to make space available on my ipad by deleting these photos, but the same hp laptop is no more with me. How do I delete these photos?

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • How do you switch to streaming without deleting synched photos in AppleTV?

I have synced my photos onto my AppleTV and use them as my screen saver. I'd like to keep these photos on my Apple TV and also use the stream function to listen to my music playlists and movies. When I switch the option to streaming everything is deleted from my Apple TV, including the photos that I use as the screensaver. How do you switch to streaming without deleting synched photos in the Apple TV?

Firstly, the ctrl-click option says turn of syncing not turn on streaming, but I'm not at all sure this is really what you want to do.
In itunes, select the tv from the device list, then in the main part of the iTunes window select the summary tab and ensure you have custom sync enabled and that 'show only synced items' is unchecked.
Click sync from the bottom RH corner, your tv should now see all the content in itunes provided it is checked. See This.
Now you can work your way through all the tabs in the main window and select/deselect any content you want/don't want to sync.

When did this deletion happen?  Which version of iOS 8 do you have on your iPad? Depending on your settings you may not see My Photo Stream on the iPad any longer.  With iOS 8 "My Photo Stream" will only show on the iPad, if you did not enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta).

    Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. iMac, 7,1

What I was hoping to do is upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I was removing old word documents that were my sister-n-laws, as this was her computer she used for work. So, there was a lot of stuff I didn't need and wanted to free up memory. I didn't delete any system files or anything like that. The next day I restarted the computer and it set everything back to the original factory state. ALL my photos were gone, my iCal was back to factory and my Safari bookmarks were gone. I did get back or found some documents I created. But Can't find or get back any of the Photos!

  • All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your device got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
Apps can be downloaded again for free, in the US music as well. Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
