Syncing photos to 30G iPod using Picasa

I'm a complete ipod newbie. On WinXP, I use Picasa to organize my photos -- not Photoshop / Elements. In Picasa, I create albums to collect related photos, but the photo files (mostly jpgs) live in their original folders and the album is just a virtual collection.
I can see how to sync any specific folder to my iPod using iTunes -- tried it and it worked on an actual folder. But that's not what I want, those aren't the right photos.
What I want: sync an album (not an actual folder) within Picasa to my iPod, i.e. I want to create an album w/in Picasa that includes all the photos I want on my iPod, and nothing else, and only sync the photos in that album to iPod. I don't want to move the actual jpgs into a separate Picasa folder (= a real folder on my HD), because I have them organized a certain way for other purposes and I don't want to screw that up just to make ipod happy. Is there a way to do this?
I did read the documentation and can only see references to photoshop and elements, not picasa.
Hope that makes sense. Any suggestions?
Thanks much.

Well, I suppose at least that's clear. I really appreciate the quick answer, even though it's not what I wanted. I'll try to find where to post a feature request on both the itunes end and the picasa end to make what I want possible in the future.
Thanks much.

  • Can no longer sync photos to my iPod Photo

Without any change in hardware, but AFTER installing iTunes 7 via Software Update, I can no longer sync photos to my iPod. (I have had no problems syncing music, pictures, contacts and calendars since purchasing an iMac G5 "iSight" 15 months ago.)
Music appears to sync correctly, as do calendars and contacts. But after trying to sync photos, iTunes stops with the following message: "The iPod 'my iPod' could not be synced. The required file cannot be found."
I have Restored my iPod and attempted to sync, but receive the same message.
I REPLACED my iPod's hard drive! Upon syncing, I receive the same message.
I deleted iPhoto Library/iPod photo cache folder and was then able to sync photos to iPod, BUT upon reopening iPhoto, and a forced reindex (?) of pictures resulted in about 1/3 missing.
After restoring the iPhoto Library from a backup, syncing the iPod results in the same original error. Deselecting syncing photos in iTunes removes photos from iPod, but upon syncing, same error message.
Restoring iPod again, results in same error message.
Does anyone have a solution? What required file is missing?

I too had a problem. iTunes wouldn't sync any photos nor list my iPhoto Albums.
I created a second iPhoto library and then added some photos and created several albums to see if iTunes could see the new iPhoto library. It did see the new library. I then started to add photos to it. I finally found the offending files - 4 .avi files - that for some reason when added to the library caused iTunes to balk. I removed the files and all is well. I even have other .avi files in the original library and iTunes responds normally - just those 4 caused the problem.

By connecting your iPod to its syncing computer and unsyncing them. As you found out you can't delete them from via the iPod.

  • Does installing an app over Itunes, then syncing it to my ipod use less storage space?

Does installing an app over Itunes, then syncing it to my ipod use less storage space, instead of installing it on the device itself.
If yes, how does this work, please explain lol.

    Does anyone know the answer?

  • ITunes will no longer sync photos to" your " ipod

  • Can I view photos imported to iPod using Apple iPod Camera Connector

    Hi,
I have an iPod photo and iPod video.
I also have the Belkin Digital Camera Link that I use to downloand photos from my Digital Camera to my iPod whilst away from my computer.
When photos are imported onto the iPod using the Belkin device I can't view the photos on the iPod.
Is this the same case with the Apple Camera Connector?
It would be worth buying if it meant the photos were instantly viewable on the iPod.
    Many Thanks.

How did the photos get on the iPod? If they were synced from another computer you need a third-party program like PhoneView or TouchCopy.

  • ITunes will no longer sync photos to "my" iPod

I get this message when I try to sync photos (Aperture3). The options are grayed out. iPod touch 2.2.1 version/ OSX 10.6.8 iMac24 duo core. iPod is almost empty(14gb avail) Anyone having this problem? Any solution?

Assuming they are in a [compatible file format|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2335] I would try [deleting the ipod photo cache|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314]. In Windows go to Pictures>iPod Photo Cache.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • Help! Trouble syncing photos to the iPod touch

I have just downloaded pics from my digital camera, and I have having trouble syncing them with my iPod touch. They are all jpg files. I get an error saying:
"some (all) of my photos were not copied to my iPod because they cannot be displayed on my iPod."
Is there a certain style or size the photos need to be?

You will need to free up some more space. Regardless of the size of the photos you are trying to transfer to the iPod, you need more free space than 500mb to accommodate the photo cache.

  • Upgraded iTunes, now iTunes crashes my computer when syncing photos to my iPod Touch, how to fix this?

I upgraded to the latest iTunes this morning, now when I sync to add more photos to my iPod Touch, it crashes my computer.  Why is that?  And how can it be fixed?

    *Replying to D&Z*
+But, it will do it at other times as well. If there is an error message - I do not see it as it happens too fast.+
We'd better check for a hidden blue screen, then.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try to provoke another crash.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?
If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

  • Syncing photos from an iPod Touch to a macbook

a couple of days ago, my macbooks hard drive got fried, and i had lost all my music, videos, and photos. i have found third party apps which let me take my music and videos of my ipod, but im having trouble finding a app. that lets me take my photos of my ipod and put them on my macbook...
    please, i need help

    Hi,
    Ouch!
Presumably there is no trace of your photos in the recycle bin?
Try these for getting your photos off your Touch -
    [TouchCopy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy>
    [MediaWidget|http://www.bootstrapdevelopment.com/showproduct.aspx?t=b]
Bare in mind the photos on the Touch have been "optimised" and will only be 640x480 res max.
I am pretty paranoid about losing stuff so I always back up to external hard drives. I also back up by stealth, this is done by copying my photos to CD's and "giving" them away to various relatives, "how nice" they say and I am happy because not all our houses can burn down at the same time and at least one copy will be available should the worst happen.
    Dud.

  • How do I remove synced photos from my Ipod back to the computer?

I had to replace the hard drive in my laptop and now I have lost all my photos that were placed in my Ipod from my files. How do I take the photos back off of the Ipod and into the laptop? Thanks!

You could e-mail them to yourself.  They will not be of the original quality.
The ipod is not a backup device.  The photos sync is one way - computer to ipod.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
Did you fail to backup your pics?

  • I can't sync photos to my Ipod Classic...help?

I've just got a new Ipod Classic and I can sync songs and Podcasts OK, but I can't sync any photos. The "sync" symbol looks active when I'm sending the photos over, but when I check my Ipod later...nothing at all!!! It's driving me nuts...suggestions anyone?

I had the same Problem, very frustrating until you realize what it was. My simple fix was!
    On your IPOD go to
    Settings
    Main Menu
    Photos (probably set to off)
    Turn ON
    Should do it
