Syncing Photos to G4 Touch

I have 6000 photos that I have synced to my G4 Touch using iTunes. In the process it generated a 23gb folder of "iPod Photo Cache". Apple support article TS1324 talks about deleting this Cache folder to free up disc space, which is my goal. I have tried deleting the folder; however, if I add photos to iPhoto and want to load them to my iPod through iTunes, iPhoto wants to re-generate the whole "iPod Photo Cache" folder. Is there a way to add the new photos, using iTunes, without regenerating the entire Cache folder?
I would appreciate any advise.

Not that I know of. From the article the cache folder is created for the sole purpose of syncing.

  • ITunes 9 no longer syncs photos to ipod touch

has anyone seen this? after "upgrading" to iTunes 9, the photo tab works fine, you can select photo folders to copy to the iPod touch, but when you sync it doesn't actually copy any photos to the iPod. Help!

ok this is really weird. what i have discovered is that iTunes thinks that no matter how many photos are in a folder, that there are only 41 photos in it. any folder i choose in itunes to sync photos from, it says "41". even if there are 101 photos in the folder, itunes thinks that there are 41. why would it do that? any body have a clue? this is driving me nuts! i have deleted itunes, deleted every last file associated with itunes including everything i could find in the registry, re installed and it STILL does it? where is it getting that info from? i am about ready to wipe my machine and start over from scratch but there must be a reason it is doing this. any suggestions??

  • Can't sync photos to iPod Touch

Downloaded 4.3 to my iPod Touch today. I'm running 10.5.8 on my MacBook. Now it won't sync with iPhoto. I keep getting the message, IPod "Touch" cannot be synced. The required file can't be found. I don't know what this means or what file it can't find. Please help!

Planb77, Thank you for your response. I trashed the cache and tried to recreate it. I synced my iPod Classic with no problem. I have 80GB on it and only 32GB on the Touch. I let all my pictures and a movie download to the Classic. I don't want the movie or all, just some, of my pictures on the Touch. The photos will not sync with the Touch at all. Any help will be deeply appreciated!
    PS-Everything else syncs just fine.

  • Syncing photos to iPod Touch from Aperture

I have a Touch on which I would like to sync some photos from Aperture through iTunes. ITunes sees my albums in Aperture, but it only sees one photo out of many. I am certain I am doing something incorrectly, but just don't have any ideas on what that might be. I am not sure if this is an iTunes issue or an Aperture issue. I have all the latest updates, and am using Aperture 2. Any ideas, anyone?

  • IPod touch 2nd Gen 8gb will no longer Sync photos.

all the posts I could find that were similar had to do with ipods that were jailbroken and on Windows.
I have iTunes 10.1, iPhoto 6.0.6. running on OSX 10.6.5
    iPod Touch 2nd Gen 8GB OS 4.2.1
The Problem: Since I got 4.0 and later, I have not been able to sync photos from iphoto. itunes says that it is, the bar moves and says all photos have been synced, all the photos I want synced are checked in itunes and still nothing when I check them on my ipod. iPod says no photos in album. I tried deleting the ipod cache on my mac, nothing. I tried syncing to a single file folder with the same photos, same. I tried exporting all the photos I wanted synced to a separate folder to jpg and smaller resolution, same result, no photos on ipod.
Note. the photos used to sync up until 4.0
I have also tried starting from scratch and putting it back to factory defaults then going from backup. Same result.
I have tried rebooting both iMac and iPod, same thing.
and I hate how I can't just email apple and tell them the problem.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I just can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem.
Thanks in advance for the possible help.

I dont get an error message at all. itunes just does its normal business when syncing and says its synced, but no photos. I have never tried mobile me, so I dont think my problem is connected. I dont have $300 to get a new ipod. this makes me sad.

  • Why do photos take so long to sync with my iPod touch?

Recently my 60Gb iPod touch has been taking longer and longer to sync photos. Music, movies, apps, etc are all ok, its just pictures taking a very long time indeed.
I have tried resetting and erasing all data to start from scratch but I still have the same issue. For instance, I set the iPod syncing at 0830 this morning, went out for the day and as I type now at 2215, (well over 12 hours later) iTunes says it is 'optimizing photo 4103 of 9713'. Not only that, it only appears to be optimizing 1 photo every minute or so. Do the math, its going to take forever to complete the process!
I know its a lot of photos, but it never used to be problem. I should mention that my data is on a remote Netgear Stora 1Tb drive, but I dont see how this would make a difference, as music, movies, etc are copied over extremely fast. It is only photos that are causing me problems.
I would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction on this one.
    Cheers,

    Vmondo--
A couple of items, one of which has already been mentioned: Picture size. Another is picture type; jpegs seem to load faster.
iOS4 has several new bells and whistles, which may affect things. Things like folders, multitasking, etc. also consume processing speed. The iPod isn't like my MacBook which processes things really quickly. It should; it has more processing capability.
As a side note, part of the issue may be iTunes for Windows itself. (No proof, but the iPod is an Apple gadget, and as such works slightly better with a Mac. Slightly is the key word here.)
Finally...the iPod is, at the end of the day, a music device--not a pocket sized photo album. That it can hold every digital picture one has taken in the last five years is not really relevant. It can hold video clips, pictures, etc. but it's still a device for music and some well-crafted apps. The hope is that, in the next update of iOS4, the picture issue (because you're not alone) can/will be resolved.
    Now...
    1. I tried answering this above.
    2. You might want to check your settings for photos. It shouldn't be optimizing every time you synch, I wouldn't think, unless you are adding or changing pictures.
You can fill your iPod with whatever you want. From Computer Science 225: All an iPod is, is a fancy HD like what is on a computer. The more you put on the HD, the slower it takes to get where you want to go. This is why it is recommended if you get to with 10-15% of full on your HD, you remove stuff--or get a larger HD and migrate everything on the old HD to it. Even a SSD like the iPod touch has a limit, based on processor speed and available memory.

  • Synced Photos don't appear on my 2G iPod touch

    Hi,
Here is my problem. I own since 3 years an iPod touch 2G which I use a lot. I use to sync 4-5 recent photo albums from my iPhoto Library on it but since few days, photos don't appear on the Photos App in the iPod neither the bottom bar to navigate between events and others sortings.
Everythings seems to works fine when I sync it. The problem appears on the synced iPod. Only saved images remain.
That's sure a big loss in my use of the device. I use to show people recent pictures that I carry on my iPod touch often.
    Regards,

  • Syncing photos of my art & my photography to my ipod touch

I have 2 folders of photo/image content that I want to snyc to my ipod touch, one is a folder with my photograps, the other folder has photos of my artwork, but itunes will only sync one folder or the other, but not both. how do I get itunes to snyc both of my folders with their content?

If you want images to appear in separate photo albums on your device, create folders inside the main folder and drag images into the new folders.

  • How to sync photos from your computer to the ipod touch without removing its photos

So I want to senda picture I have on my computer to my ipod touch 4g. I saw a video and I followed it, i used itunes, clicked the device then photos then i picked a folder and click sync but when i click Apply a bx pops up that says if I snyced these photos the photos already existing will be removed, is there a way to keep the photos on the ipod and just add the pictures from the compute?

Place both the old photos and the new photos in the same folder you sync photos with. Youcan have one level of subfolders in the one syncing folder.

  • Really need help here!-Why won't all selected Photos sync to my iPod Touch?

This is really a concern to me: I can only get about 9 months of my iPhotos to sync onto my iPod Touch - but with OS 2.x I could get all the photos-- used essentially all my free space.
I just upgraded my first generation iPod Touch (Dec 2007) to 3.1.2 - OK WiFi and apps updates working fine- but as to syncing photos: I have 15,688 photos & videos from my cameras in my iPhoto library.
I don't expect to have all the photos synced, but when I check last 12 months, only about 9 months is synced - 5899 photos and there is 4.9 gb of free space on my iPod Touch. With OS 2.x I could get more photos and it would go down to just a few mb of free space if I wished.
What is going on here? Why so much free space and yet no more photos syncing? I tried to click ALL EVENTS and that simply erased all my 5899 photos and there were NO PHOTOS. So now I went back and requested last 12 months of events (about 138 separate events from end 2008 until present) - and again, exactly 5899 photos yet still some 33% of my iPod capacity is UNused?
This is really a concern to me-- if a corrupted photo or event, then why did it work just last week when I was in iPod Touch OS 2.x?
Thanks for any suggestions here. I'm trying manual syncs and other stuff - so far no luck.
    Best regards,

    Thursday 4 February 2010

First a really big THANKS - I was not aware that this iPod Photo cache folder existed and it had grow to over 15 gb in size! (Now it is 3.85 gb in size).
BUT BUT-- problem not solved... Although I trashed that file and then re-synced my iPod Touch, it is still only going back to July 2009 with the events - not 12 months as I request; and none of the events that I checked prior to the previous 12 months are not on my iPod Touch, first generation running system 3.1.3 (7E18). I STILL HAVE 3.0 gb of available space on my iPod. Again, I never had this problem when 2.x was the OS for my iPod Touch.
The number of events seems to be exactly 51 - is that perhaps a limit? I don't think it would be but when I look inside the iPod Photo cache folder, there are 51 folders (plus 2 other items) and the folders are numbered from F00 to F50.
I would like to get to the bottom of this - not sure if I should start a new post or ??? Thanks again and any ideas or tests to run really appreciated!
    Best regards,

  • HT4236 Is there a way to sync photos from my computer onto my Ipod touch 'Camera Roll' album?

Everytime I sync photos from my computer onto my ipod they go into two different folders, and not the camera roll. I really want to have them in the camera roll and was wondering if there was a way to do so,
    Thanks.
    Georgia.

There is, but I would avoid that method if I were you.
The Camera Roll (on an iPod Touch) is where photos taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and also saved images are located.
Although other people may alternative suggestions, I regard the Camera Roll a temporary loctation, until the next Sync with iTunes. At that time, it is wise to move the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them somewhere on your computer. This means that when (rather than if) the iPod requires a Restore, you don't lose your pictures, since a Restore will remove all content from the iPod, and only put back onto the iPod what is on the computer.
For safety, I copy the Camera Roll pictures, into a folder which will then put them back onto the iPod in the Photo Library, and only once sucessfully copied, do I then delete them from my iPod' Camera Roll.
As for the two different folders...
    You can only choose one folder on your computer to Sync with your iPod, named for instance, "Piccys" and in there are (for example) general photos. However, also in that folder, you can have sub-folders, named for instance "Family" which have only photos of the family. Once the folder "Piccys" is Synced with your iPod, when you look in the Photos App on the iPod, you will see a list of sections;
    Photo Library
    Family
The "Photo Library section" will have all the photos, both from the "Piccys folder" and the "Family folder" listed as one list. However, if you look in the "Family section", you will see only the photos in the "Family folder".
So in your situation, I suggest that you create a sub-folder in your chosen "Sync folder" and place all the Camera roll pictures in that. What you certainly should not be doing is leaving photos in the Camera Roll or trying to put other pictures into the Camera Roll. That will be a recipe for disaster.
By the way, in my experience, the more pictures in the Camera roll, the slower a Sync becomes.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Generation won't sync photos anymore

    Hi all,
My iPod Touch 2nd generation is running OS 3.1.2 on iTunes 9.0.2, Mac OS 10.6.1. It recently automatically removed all the photos from my iPod Touch and won't let me sync them anymore. I go to the Photos tab on iTunes and the albums/events I want to sync are selected, but when I hit the sync button, I can read the status on the iTunes window stating it's syncing music, then contacts, then whatever, and when it comes to photos, it just flashes "syncing photos" for a millisecond and keeps on going. No error messages, nothing. At the end, no photos are on my iPod and the memory status bar on iTunes shows I have a certain GB of music, apps, other, but no photos.
I've tried to sync all everything from iPhoto just to give it a try, with no luck.
    Any ideas?
I've tried to restore my iPod, it works for the first sync, but when I connect the iPod the second time, it removes all the photos again.
    Thanks
    Tadeu

uncheck the Photos Sync and hit Sync. Let it finish. Then go back and check it again and hit Sync. See if that works.
