Syncing Problem - Playlist no longer exists!!!

Hope someone can help me...
My ipod mini was full so i set about deleting albums, it then should have had enough space to update but it still wouldn't work. iTunes then automatically created a playlist called 'selected tunes' (i think) which i deleted. My iTunes library is fine but now all my music is deleted from my ipod and now the following error message comes up when i try and sync it:
"Songs in the ipod "Debs Nano" cannot be updated beacause all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
Please help - i have tried all the trouble shooting links nbut cant figure it out

For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

Color me kind of stupid, but could you tell me why all music has disappeared from my Nano (second) and iTunes tells me, after I've connected, "Songs on the iPod "My Name's iPod" cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for synching no longer exist." You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:

Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"

IPod Nano Won't update,says playlists no longer exist,

I am really getting frustrated with my iPod nano. First it started off by not updating songs. Then it started to erase songs when i connected it to itunes. So i erased everything hoping that would fix it. But now when I try to put them back on the computer says iPod update complete but there are no songs. It also say that the iPod can't be updated because the playlists no longer exist.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem please respond as soon as possible.

Ok, first try a restore. Next, on the playlist issue...
Did you delete the playlists from iTunes? If so, then the iPod is trying to automatically update, but it can't, since the playlists no longer exist. Try putting your iPod into manually update; you can find that in the iPod Options tab.

Recently noticed that all of my playlists dissapeared from my 20gb 3G iPod.
I docked it to try and sync it up and gave me the message "Songs on the iPod could not be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
Click ok. iPod undocks itself and is now completely empty. I redock it and gives the same message.
I did a reset on the iPod with no success so I did a complete restore. This allowed me to dock and resync to the iTunes library. So I add in a few more songs and try to sync and get the same message, undocked iPod, and completely deleted again. I even tried to delete my playlists from the iTunes library thinking that may be the propblem. Still getting this specific message despite there being nothing on the iPod and no playlists in iTunes.
Anybody have any idea what's going on here?

Playlists no longer exist for updating??

My playlists on itunes are still listed along with all of the songs that are in them.. i can play the songs from the computer and nothing appears to have changed.... but recently I keep getting a message saying something like " songs cannot be updated because the selected playlists no longer exist" whenever i try to update my ipod and now all of the songs and info on my ipod are gone.
The only odd thing that has happened right before this was that a message came up saying "itunes can automatically create a playlist of songs that it chooses" I accidently agreed and as soon as another playlist was created i deleted it, and ever since i try to update my ipod i keep getting the above statement about the playlists no longer existing. What's the deal?

What's the deal?
It seem like your iTunes Library now exceeds the size of your iPod and iTunes is (unsuccessfully) looking for the playlist that you accidentally deleted
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for some background.
Your best bet is to recreate that playlist, naming it your iPod's name Selection, and put the music you want transferred over in that playlist.
iTunes should be able to take care of things from there.

Trouble updating Mini " Playlist no longer exists"

I recently tried to update my mini but the an error msg "songs on the iPOD cannot be updated because all of the playlists no longer exist" how can i fix this?

You have your iPod set to update from Selected Playlists only. Right click your iPod in the source list of iTunes, clikck on "iPod Option..." and either change the update setting to another mode or uncheck the playlists that no longer exist.

My playlist no longer exist

Last night I was downloading new songs for my ipod mini and i connected it to my computer to transfer the songs but when i checked the ipod there was no songs, not even one. I dont know what happened! and the message says that my playlist no longer exist but i still have all my songs in the library. Can somebody help me???

Problems updating - 'playlists no longer exist'

Something has happened to my ipod and it's not updating, the on-screen message reads 'The ipod cannot be updated because one or more of the itunes playlists selected to update no longer exists'.
If anyone can help me solve this problem I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

I'm suddenly unable to sync my iPod because the playlists no longer exist.

I have a 2nd gen nano. I have had no problems with itunes since I purchased it in July last year. I bought my husband a 3rd gen nano for christmas. I had basically all the songs in my itunes that he wanted so I hooked his new ipod up. It wanted me to install 7.5 and seemed to work just fine. I got everything downloaded to his and was quite proud of myself~thinking that was too easy. Anyhow I then plugged in my 2nd gen in and I don't remember exactly what it said but it created a new playlist for me. I had already created and saved my own earlier that had all my favorites shuffled~just how I wanted it. The itunes created playlist was in order by album and couldn't get it to shuffle so before really thinking about what I was doing deleted the itunes created playlist. UGG! Now when I plug in my ipod it says "songs on the ipod "amys ipod" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I also have no songs on my ipod anymore! What do I do?!?!?

Had my ipod since july and have had no problems, yet when i try to update it now a message comes up saying,

Songs on Owner's ipod cannot be updated because playlists no longer exist

I recently uploaded new CDs into my itunes library. When I tried to sync it said that it could only sync an owner's selection. I agreed because I was in a hurry. Later I came back to delete some of the songs that I do not use and I get the message "Songs on Owner's ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist." I tried to delete some of the unused playlists and now my ipod is blank with not a single song on it. I want to get my playlists back and my music back.

You will have to create a couple of new playlists to use to sync your iPod, then your iPod preferences will need to be change to sync on those specific playlists.

Playlists no longer exist?

Although I have been frequently updating my Nano, when I attached the USB, it wiped off all the songs from my ipod. A pop up display reads: "Songs on the Ipod can not be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
I can see my playlists and listen to my itunes music, but can't get it to my nano. I downloaded and ran the updater software. I'd appreciate any help (in real simple terms)

This is what happens when your iTunes library is bigger than the storage space on your iPod and you have automatic update selected.
In such cases iTunes by default makes a new playlist called iPod Selection. If you don't like that extra playlist cluttering your source bar, and delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.

IPod can not update, playlists no longer exist

For some reason after downloading the newest version of iTunes (though it could have been from something I did) everytime I try to update my iPOD with the latest songs and playlists I get a message that reads "songs on the iPod XXXXX can not be updated because all of the playlists selected no longer exist."
Anyone have any idea what I did? I even reset my iPod and that did not help so I have a 60GIG iPod with no music.
