Syncing Problems - lots of them:iTunes & iPhoto

I am having sync related issues. I have updated contacts in Address Book, and they don't get updated on the iPhone. I have added new contacts to Address Book, and they don't make it to the iPhone. It was working a while ago... but recently no...
Also, I cannot pull images from the iPhone to iPhoto, and this is really frustrating me right now. I have tried updating iPhoto (6.0.6 - 322), iTunes (7.3.2 - 6) and still not working. I can push images down no problem (by specifying in iTunes). I have tried searching around the net and this forum and every forum I can find, and no luck. iPhoto does not recognize the iPhone either... iSync does not recognize it, and I have reset iSync also. Really strange...
Another funny thing... when you tell it not to sync photos, it removes all folders from the iPhone except for Camera Roll. When you sync, it adds a folder for each one you sync with, plus another Library (Photo Library).
Camera Roll (151)
Photo Library (54)
IPTransfer (22)
IPCamera (32)
Otherwise, I love my iPhone!!!
So, if you have any ideas, please let me know! If I can provide more info to make this easier, please let me know...

Ok, here is an update....
Phone is displaying "Across The Border" underneath the clock/time before I unlock it. So, if the phone is asleep, I hit the home button, before I slide to unlock, it shows... NO IDEA where that came from.
Also, today the phone is sitting in the dock and untouched for an hour, normally the screen would be off / sleeping. Now it is sitting in a 5% brightness mode. Any touch to the screen brings it up to full brightness. Regular brightness setting is about 30% with auto brightness turned off. Screen is set to auto lock in 2 minutes, passcode lock is off.
And in more strange news... The phone synced all my contacts, and so then I said, hmm, wonder if iPhoto will recognize the phone today... and sure enough it did (3 photos pulled to iPhoto). Too bad I had done the restore yesterday and wiped all the images off, at least I was able to save them to the laptop first.
So that is working...

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

Then it would appear to be an issue with your router. What router? Model? Is the firmware up to date?

The easy and quick way to fix this is to connect your iphone to itune...
1.Go into your iphone (Top right of itune).
2.You'll see 3 different topics in bold - Iphone, backups and options.
3.Go to options and uncheck all the boxes (make sure you remeber what was been check before you uncheck anything in the boxes).
4.Check only - manually manage music and video and press apply (bottom right of itune).
5.Wait for it to finish the process (it should delete everything).
6.Then it is up to you.... either go by each tap and sync each one (info, apps, tones, music, movies, TVshows, podcast and photos) or uncheck manually manage music and check whatever it used to be before you unchecked everything.
7.All done, Everything should be working perfectly.
Please shared to other that needed help

  • Syncing of iPhone / iPad to iTunes & iPhoto

I just bought a iPad 3.  I've set it up and it syncs with iTunes.  However, my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 no longer will connect with iTunes.  What could I have done to not let them connect with iTunes.  They are not recognized by iPhoto as well.  I'm confused.

Are you able to view the photos in that album in iPhoto at full size?

  • Sync problem from iPod to iTunes

Found this post, which was already archived and un-respondable-to so I'll follow up here.
    Re: Sync iPod ratings
Posted: Apr 20, 2007 6:19 PM in response to: craigrich
If the songs on the iPod are in iTunes and you change to auto sync, the ratings will transfer.
Last played and playcount will not transfer.
iTunes will tell you it will erase the songs on the iPod with what's in the library.
    It won't.
Keep in mind that if the songs are not in iTunes, it will delete them from the iPod.
Is this correct?? Manual sync button does nothing - I have to trick it by clicking automatic sync and then reverting?
Also, I can ignore what it says about erasing the songs on iPod? Why does it say this then? Is it a bug they haven't addressed all the way in version 7.3?
Also, why wouldn't it update the the play-count and last-played date? Another bug?
How about the iTunes upgrade that took away the feature which would actually randomize the songs with the shuffle toggle so I can load my iPod with a completely random list? Now I have to go into Party Shuffle and grab randomized lists from there - but only 100 at a time.. Why 100 as a limit when my iPod can hold so many more?
While of the subject of questions, why doesn't the forum registration form properly support Google's AutoFill functionality? And what's with the funky tab-order?
    :-/

Perhaps I have to click 'apply' to this setting for it to take the desired effect,
Yes, you do need to click Apply.
but I simply don't want Autosync - my library's too large for my Nano.
    It's not a problem. I have ~30GB of music and a 4GB Mini & I use Autosync.
    Select the iPod.
    Click on the Music tab.
    Select Sync selected playlists.
Then I add/remove from these playlists, plug in the iPod and it syncs.
All ratings, last played, etc. get transferred.
This was indeed how the shuffle toggle worked a few updates ago
I've never heard of "shuffle toggle". Do you mean you are clicking the shuffle bottom ot th bottom of iTunes?
Are you using an iPod Shuffle? Do you mean the Autofill on the iPod Shuffle?
Autofill is only on the iPod Shuffle. It isn't on the other iPods.
and I came to appreciate this feature. Since it's removal,
Again, not sure what "feature" you think has been removed.
    I've been seeking a functional work-around.
Which is exactly what I gave you.
Thank you for the idea here, but manually choosing random tracks to create a special playlist of XX size is not only tedious, but defeats the true randomness I want back.
You do not manually choose any tracks. You can't even drag songs to a Smart playlist.
If you follow the steps above, it will create a playlist of the size you choose, with random songs from your library.
You can set (or not) the criteria you want, such as not longer than 4 minutes, or of a certain Genre.
Do you know of an email address I can send some of my questions directly to Apple's team - maybe specifically their software development group?
You can send feedback & ideas here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
but you will not receive a response.

  • Sync Problems with External HD, iTunes freezes

I sync all my music without any problems from teh computer's hard drive (HP Notebook ze4805, AMD Athlon 2800, 512KB, 60GB, XP).
The photo sync is directed to folder on a Seagate 300GB external hardrive which the computer regognizes and iTunes sees all its subfolders.
Once the music sync finishes and the photo sync is ready to start the iTunes simply freezes and do not respond anymore. It does not sync one single picture and the external HD is not accesed becuase the activity ligh does not blink at all. I am able to stream from that same external hard drive connected to my main home computer (HP, Intel, 2 GB, 200GB, XP) but I want to have all the photos for faster access on the Apple TV.
I tried synchronizing one folder at the time instead of the whole 20K pictures but same result.
Can anyone help me? I have spend many hours trying to figure this one out. Thanks

I have a 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini with 1GB of DDR2 RAM Memory. My HD is connected via USB 2.0 directly to my computer. It would be really great if you could tell me what might be the problem since my HD crashed again and this is the 3rd time in two months.

  • Sync problems after upgrade to iTunes 9

I've seen lots of posts on this but none that directly match my situation. Bought a few TV eps that required upgrade to iTunes v9 so I upgraded. Now only some of the shows will sync to my iPod. Following the sync I've noticed that it is now also removing TV shows that were previously on the iPod, and removing or not locating shows and videos within iTunes which have been there for awhile. These shows are still showing on the iPod though - the whole thing is a mess.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with extra memory and a Seagate 320g external drive that hold iTunes. The iPod is a 32g classic.
    Any hep would be appreciated.

I have very similar symptoms after upgrade to iTunes 9.1. During sync of Calendars (or if Calendars disabled, during iPhone backup step), Outlook hangs & sync never completes. Outlook stays hung, and hangs again if I kill and restart, until I reboot. Hugely frustrating.

  • Sync problem between iPhone and iTunes (Music&Books)

Hello, I have a synchronization problem between the macbook and iPhone  5S. On the macbook I've Maverik updated and also the Iphone is updated.
First problem: the timing so long, especially at the step of applications, compared to when it was fast, applications have not changed.
Second problem: the music, I flagged "synchronizes the selected music" but all the flags on the selected artists are missing, despite what the music is on iPhone . I tried to flag again on itunes but all song was duplicate in Iphone.
Third problem: the books, it happens the same music.
The problem does not occur with the photo with the ringtones and videos.
I've tried everything from simple restart of the mac and the iPhone, checked and updated macbook, iPhone and itunes. Repaired permissions on the mac.
    What can I do?
    thanks
    Bye
Ho provato a riselezionarli e me li duplica tutti.
    Cosa posso fare?
    grazie
    ciao

  • I lost a lot of tracks while syncing my ipod touch with iTunes. I have managed to get some of them back with a free download, but iTunes will not let me dowload whole albums which I have paid for. It does recognise that they have been purchased. What do n

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

Hi..can anyone help? Songs on my itunes are not playing to the end? They cut off part way through a song. Its not on all the songs but lots of them? thanks

A couple of months ago, I went to the Apple Store to try and sort this problem out. I was told that I was not playing my songs out of an actual music library. I created a library and loaded all of my songs, movies, etc. onto it. I had found that when I synced my songs from the new library onto my itouch, the songs no longer stopped in odd spots or bled into each other. To ensure that most of my songs had been fixed, I played the ones that were the most problematic. Fortunately, the songs play all the way through without any interruption. So far, I have not encountered the same problems that I had posted in my question. I apologize for not knowing the fellow's name who helped me with my iTouch at the Apple Store, but I would like to say how thankful and happy I am now that my iTouch no longer skips to the next song.
I know that other people have had this same issue with their iPods. If you encounter your music not playing correctly, I would suggest that making a new library and  loading all of your music into the new one may help correct the problem. I hope that this helps.

  • IPhoto syncing problems iPad

    Hi
I am having trouble syncing my iPad with my iPhoto library. When I try and sync through iTunes only selected photos seem to be synced, i.e. if I choose to sync a specific event not all the photos from the event are synced. For example, a recent event has 44 photos in it and when I sync only about 12 appear on the iPad. If I choose to sync more events the same thing happens. Some events most photos seem to be there and in others some are missing. All the photos are jpgs so my understanding is there should be no problem. Interestingly, if I take the photos and put them in a folder and sync the folder only - not through iPhoto on sync - all the photos come over (obviously not grouped in events). This to me suggests it is something to do with iPhoto indexing. I created the iPhoto databases and thumbnails index but this did not help. I have read that deleting the 'iPod Photo Cache" can help with this, so deleted that - but still no joy. I have read somewhere that the index file in iPhoto has limit (256mb or something) - i have 10,000 photos in my library so maybe this is the problem. I am not trying to sync all the photos just some events so space on the iPad (32GB) cannot be a problem. Please help? Bernie

Just checking to make sure that you did follow this procedure .... I copied this from one of my other posts and I'm merely double checking that you did restart the iPad after you tried this ....
Follow the instructions here to delete the iPod Photo cache and see if that helps.
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
Restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    Now try syncing.
I have seen posters with more photos than you are trying to sync have success with this procedure so I don't think that the number of photos is the problem. You stated that creating a new folder and syncing the photos works that way so that proves to me that it isn't the number of photos that is causing the issue.
The only other suggestions I can think of are to create new names for the events using the same photos and try syncing that way. The other suggestion would be to delete your backup and try to the sync the photos.

When I go to access my albums from any app on my phone or iPad, I cannot access the iCloud albums, only the albums synced with iTunes/iPhoto manually.  This is frustrating because I cannot add to those albums from mobile device, I have to add to them during a Mac sync.  I would like to be able to use my iCloud albums to organize my photos but if I cannot access them from apps it seems pointless.  I will end up having to maintain both an iCloud library and a separate iPhoto library which is more work that seems necessary.  I want everything easy to organize and access.  It seems like in this age where most people are more likely to use their mobile devices than their Macs (and some do not even own Macs) that there should be a mobile solution.  Hopefully I am simply without a clue and you folks can help me out with a fix or a source of info as a solution.  I have not found answers yet.

My wife had an iPad for a year and synced to our computer with no problem.  I recently received an ipad2 and when I tried to sync using separate apple and iTunes passwords, under her computer user name, it appears I over-road her account and synced all her apps with my apps on my iPad.  I then set myself up as a new user on our computer and tried to sync.  I now get the error that my iPad is synced to another library.  How can I start over without erasing all my data on the iPad?

Go back to her login.  Unless you deliberately erased apps, they should all be there, both yours and hers!  Then, you need to set up each iPad separately.  You will notice that they have separate names for that very purpose.
There is no problem with multiple Apple IDs on the same iTunes on the same computer except...  Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was originally used to obtain them.  If you choose to update an app from inside iTunes and you're logged into the "wrong" ID, you must log out and back in again.
On the bright side, you can configure either or both iPads to sync with apps and music and movies, etc. from either or both IDs.  Further, if you choose to update the apps from the iPads themselves, there is no need to log out/in.  The device handles that.  All you need is the correct password.  In my case, I use the same password for both IDs to make things easier.
