Syncing process takes forever

Synching my ipod touch is fast and easy - but when I connect my ipad to the same imac (same imac supports my ipod touch), it takes forever to start the syncing process then when it does finally start, it takes forever to complete the sync. Running latest "OSes" on imac and ipad. It took 6 plus hours yesterday transferring >9k photos - to the ipad when most were already on the ipad -- why recopy them?
Today, the synch process -- even if initiated right after a sucessful sync (what could change in the one minute!) takes forever. Per above, running the lates updates on ipad and imac. No voice messages in the equation.

Are you using a number of 3rd party apps that store data? Do you have a number of photos in your iPhone's camera roll which are not removed from your iPhone's camera after the photos are imported by your computer with the number of photos available in the camera roll continuing to increase with every photo captured by your iPhone, or saved from a received email or from a website where these photos are stored?
The backup for my iPhone takes a minute or two.

Syncing contacts takes forever

Hi,
For a few weeks now, syncing my iPhone to iTunes never finishes, it gets stuck forever on "syncing contacts". I left it connected like this for several hours...
I also tried checking Contacts on "replace data on this iPhone", same thing.
I previously had that problem but it took something like 5-10 minutes to sync contacts, not forever.
Does anybody experience this, how can I reset things to a sane state ?
If that matters, I'm using .Mac ....

This is what Domonique with Apple Care had me do that worked. From open iSync, iSync/Prefs/Reset Sync history. Then I went back into Itunes and deselected everything but Sync Contacts from the Information tab and did a sync with just the contacts. It zipped through. Then I did a sync with just my calendars (my sync was also getting stuck on calendars and bookmarks) then I did the same with bookmarks and everything seems to be fine. It takes less than a minute whereas it was taking an hour prior to the fix.
I don't know if this is related, but also from iSync/Prefs I also deselected the Show Date Change Alert when xxxx (x=choice from pulldown menu). It seemed to speed things up as well. I only had this checked before because my Treo 650 often had sync problems and I needed to protect my data.

IPod Touch 1G sync now takes FOREVER

Ever since I upgraded to 3.0, my iPod Touch takes FOREVER to sync to iTunes when I plug it in to my computer. Today I plugged it in to get the latest upgrade, and it's been synching for over an hour. Anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?
p.s. the 3.0 upgrade broke my iPod, so it has been completely restored since then as well.

Prelude CC 2014 Ingest - Processing takes forever

In Prelude CC 2014 when I go to ingest it says "processing" over every clip as usual. Unlike the previous version, however, it takes forever for the media to finish this processing, if at all. The media in question is Canon DSLR footage and Canon VIXIA footage (mp4), being ingested and transcoded from an external drive (WD My Passport Ultra). I've reinstalled the previous version of Prelude (2.0) and everything works normally. Is there any setting in Prelude CC 2014 that might combat this problem?

1. The operating system is primarily OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.5). I have tested the same software in Windows 7 64 bit and had the same problem.
2. The assets in question are on an external drive, a WD My Passport Ultra. I transferred the files to an internal drive and had the same problem.
3. The steps are simply this: Open Prelude, click Ingest, select a folder to preview and wait for the previews to load.

Above is a folder with Canon DSLR footage (5D MkII). Granted, there are a lot of clips in this folder (177), but I've left this for 20 minutes and come back to it still saying "Processing".

The next image is of a Canon VIXIA folder which has mp4 footage. The previews will blink then Prelude will become non-responsive. I have to force-quit at this point.

As you can see the same folder from screenshot 1 loads promptly in Prelude CC 2.2.0. Processing time takes around 15-20 seconds.

Same folder from screenshot 2 loads fine in Prelude CC 2.2.0. No program issues to speak of.
I hope this sheds some light on this problem.

Payment processing takes forever

I am stuck with "your payment is being processed" for 30min plus.
Any solutions?
Maybe somebody experienced it and solved somehow?

I'm having the same issue here. I heard someone say that it may take 24 hours. I haven't been at it that long but I'm a bit concerned that it just isn't processing.

Bingo! It was the Facebook app, for me anyway.
I had noticed my backups were getting slower and slower - after first upgrading to 2.1 the slow backups of 2.0 were solved and were typically taking under a minute, but that has gradually climbed to nearly 20 minutes EVERY time I do a sync.
After reading your comment about Facebook I used "iPhone Backup Extractor" to look at the backups that iTunes has been doing of the Facebook app, to find that there was 46MB worth of backups for the Facebook application alone - comprised of 2747 small data files and images.
So I deleted the Facebook app from the Phone, (which also deletes its cached data) performed a sync/backup, noticed that the backup went much faster this time, and then reinstalled the Facebook app, and backups are now still fast. (for now)
As far as I'm concerned this is a bug with the facebook app - it doesn't seem to place any limits on the amount of data it caches, it just keeps growing and growing, and the data it caches is marked for "backup by itunes". (An app can flat whether it's data should be backed up by itunes or not)
The Facebook app should place a more reasonable limit on the amount of data and number of files it is caching, and it should flag its cache data as not requiring backup by itunes - who cares if cached data is lost during a backup/restore ??

Partitioning takes forever

The partitioning process takes forever to finish. What I mean is, it stays stuck partioning my HDD and the status bar never moves beyond a certain point. Sorry I havent been able to take a screenshot because I dont want to try again if by some off chance I can damage the drive without first consulting as to why this is happening.
I had partioned my drive a time in the past but had to delete it because of storage needs and didnt have the money to purchase a new drive.

160GB in chunks. And yet most errors are "some files cannot be removed, you need to restore to single HFS+"

So just 'nuke the drive and restore - SuperDuper.
Then try again.
However, I like to keep a boot drive as 50% free for OS X.

Imaging takes forever?

When attempting to image a 10.4 disc (from apple's retail 10.4 client), the imaging process takes forever...I've chosen to to completely bare-bones...no scripts, add-ons, extra packages, etc.
When finally telling the image utility to begin its process...it takes forever! It has spun for hours in some cases with no (apparent) progress...
I'm on the newest 17" powerbook with 10.4.2, admin tools are updated, everything is updated. I've got 1.5 GB RAM with nothing else running.
What could be going on?

I had the exact same problem and it turned out I had accidently placed the wrong subnet into the Network settings. Instead of setting my subnet on the NIC as 255.255.252.0, I had instead used the standard 255.255.255.0. So traffic will go out, but more in a broadcast sense and packets will get lost on the network. As soon as I made the change to the server, I saw network traffic spike and the lab was finished in no time.

Portal WebApp builds take FOREVER

Everytime I make a small change to a pageflow in a portal app, I need to rebuild
the portal webapp. This process takes FOREVER. Is there any faster way to do this
build? Can I disable the building of framework JSPs and Portal controls that seem
to be taking the most time?

Those indexes are missing in the standard fresh install but present if you run an upgrade from versions 3.0.6 or 3.0.7.

Why does it take forever to verifiy my keychain code

When I try to verify my keychain on my Iphone 6 it takes forever to verify the code that was sent to me. Why does this process take forever to complete?

Your title and question are two different things.
I have no idea what you are asking?
Not sure if your asking why you don't get email on your phone after you've changed the password or why the email doesn't delete when you deletee it from the computer?

IPod Syncing Takes Forever On Mac

I have a iPod Classic 120GB that I have running with iTunes on my Mac. I have syncing disabled on the device in iTunes. However, it seems like every time I plug my iPod in, iTunes starts syncing it. It takes forever to do this. It can sometimes be a couple of hours to finish. I can't seem to figure out why this continues to happen when I have syncing turned off. I also can't seem to figure out why it takes so long and why it will not let me cancel the process once it has started. Can anyone provide any suggestions?

Here's one that helped me after hours of troubleshooting and lost data....
I changed my cable! Apparently my cables were no good? So I bought a new one... (really APPLE? I have to "buy" a new one?)
FINALLY IT WORKS!!!! I know it sounds simple, but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

Iphone3g Takes Forever to Sync

Is there a way to just load my new music from my PC to my iphone in a shorter time span?? It seems to take forever when my phone syncs, and all I want to do is add some new songs to my iphone. Maybe I'm wrong, but i think it's re loading the entire phone every time I sync, how do I prevent this??

iTunes creates/maintains a backup for your iPhone as the first step during the sync process. This link provides the data included with the backup, which can be significant.

The backup includes photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored locally by a 3rd party app. Do you have a number of photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, and do you regularly access 3rd party apps that create/store data?
If your iPhone's Camera Roll includes a number of photos, you can import the photos with your computer as with any other digital camera. I use iPhoto on my Mac for importing photos from a digital camera including from my iPhone's Camera Roll and for photo storage/management on my Mac. iPhoto includes an option to delete the photos from a digital camera after the import process is complete, which I always do. If there are any of the photos recently imported that I want available on my iPhone for viewing, I add the photos to an existing iPhoto album I've selected under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences to be transferred to my iPhone, or create a new album and select it under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync. This also reduces the time for my iPhone's backup when syncing with iTunes.
You can cancel your iPhone's backup by selecting X next to the backup status in the iTunes status bar area.
If there aren't any changes to music already transferred to your iPhone, the music is not re-transferred or shouldn't be. The same applies to Podcasts, video, and 3rd party apps.

Is there an easy way to download my music from the iCloud to iTunes library on my new PC desktop so I can sync my iPod? I have iMatch and cannot figure out how to do it in one fell swoop rather than by downloading each song, which will take forever!

I have taken over my son's old PC desktop tower as it has more memory than my old PC. I installed iTunes on it and have accessed via my iMatch account my music library that's in the iCloud. I need to download it to the iTuned library on the desktop so I can sync my iPod. I can only see how to do it song-by-song, which will take forever for my almost 5000 songs. Is there a way to dowload the entire library in one fell swoop, letting it download without me having to do each song individually or monitor it?

If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
1. Quit itunes
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
4. press ENTER
5. Reboot your machine
6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
7. Good luck

Everytime I try to sync/backup, the backup takes forever.

Basically, I plug in my phone and on iTunes, the sync starts up, but the backup takes forever. I've tried everything on the forums, including deleting old backups (Now I have none and it won't backup, and I can't restore my phone now because I'm afraid I'll lose everything). PLEASE HELP!!!! I've tried everything but nothing works and it's getting really frustrating.
