When I plug iPhone into USB port on desktop, iTunes goes through the regular operation with photos and syncing purchased applications. However, it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop. iTunes is to sync manually. When I select "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" nothing happens

it does NOT sync the music I purchased on the iPhone to my desktop.
It won't, the itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you manually manage music, and the computer you're connected to is authorized, you must use File>Transfer Purchases once your phone appears in the left device pane, is that what you're doing?

  • New ipod won't sync purchased music from itunes library

I just purchased a new ipod and when I try to sync my library it will not transfer any purchased songs that are in my library.  All the songs are checked and I selected sync all music.

Do these purchased tracks play in iTunes?  What other options do you have enabled from under the Summary and Music tabs for your iPod?  Are you saying non-iTunes purchased tracks sync okay?

  • Iphone wont sync purchased music to iTunes

    Hello!
I recently got a iTunes gift card that I redeemed with my iPhone and purchanced 2 songs. When I sync my phone to my iTunes it gives me a warning message stating:
"Some of the purchased items on the iPhone "Katie's iPhone". including "Addicted". could not be transfered to your iTunes library because you are not authorized for them on this computer.
Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes store?" So I hit Authorize and log it with my Apple ID, it says accesing music store and then comes up with another notice saying,
"This computer is already authorized." So I hit ok and then it continues to sync my phone. But when I go to my Purchased, neither song is there and they aren't in my library.
I have tried going to the music store and going under my account but neither purchase is there either. Only on my iphone do they exsist.
I have tried unauthorizing the computer and reauthorizing but the same thing happenes.
I have the most recent software for both iTunes and iPhone. I'm stumped.
Any ideas? Please and thank you.

I have had to figure this out every time since I don't sync my iPhone that often. I have another option to fix specifically music from iTunes on a PC platform not syncing up to the iPhone. Just think that two people need to DIRECTLY speak to one another. iTunes doesn't seem to get that music in a sub-folder of your Music folder on your hard drive is actually music you'd like to sync to your iPhone. Huh, what the heck is wrong with you Apple? The only way I ever fixed this problem is figure out which folder your iTunes program is reading and then copy paste all your music from one folder into the folder that iTunes "gets" i.e. is reading and linked to the correct folder on your hard drive. And this is only a problem because Apple is an a**hole (and so are PC platform companies) and wants you to buy their computers/laptops to sync up with iPhones seamlessly. If you have a PC you’re SOL and have to deal with annoying crap all day long. That is the end all, be all of it all. Tell Apple to get a clue and stop being jerk offs by making their software/hardware compatible with all others. The old feud between Apple and PCs and vice versa is just screwing us consumers and I’m sick of this crap. We consumers shouldn’t have all this aggravation because two large corporate D bags can’t get along like mature adults.

  • ITunes 10.6 not syncing purchased music to iPhone iOS 5.1

I upgraded iTunes to version 10.6 and my iPhone to iOS 5.1. iTunes will not sync purchased music from the iTunes store. In the past, I have been able to sync these purchases via iTunes. Now they appear greyed out on my iPhone 4S.
When I go into the App Store from my iPhone, I am able to download my purchases, but there are many and tapping on them one by one is not something I want to do EVERY time I update my iPhone to a newer OS. I would like to sync from my computer since those files are on my computer and I can play them in iTunes.

I have also tried adding my music into a different playlist and it will still not sync half of my songs.  I have also deleted the Purchased playlist and copied them back into it again... still nothing works
    This is quite silly!

  • HT1689 how do i sync downloaded music from itunes to my ipad?  It will only sync purchased music.

How do I sync downloaded music from itunes to my ipad?  It will only sync purchased music.

You must "Add" the tracks to your library. Select Add to Library from iTunes' File menu. Select your downloaded track(s) then click on the Open button in the file dialog. Once added to the library you can select and sync them in the Music configuration tab in the iTunes main window for your device.

You can transfer all the iTunes purchased music from the iPod Touch to your new computer.
From iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod has your purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the content to a computer that is authorized for your Apple ID.
Note: This option only works for content you purchased from the iTunes Store (as opposed to content from other sources, such as CDs you may have imported). For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize Computer.
In the dialog that appears, the Apple ID button is selected by default. If you have an AOL account, select AOL.
Enter your Apple ID or AOL account and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, the following may appear:
If this alert appears, click Transfer Purchases.
If you were not offered the option to transfer purchases:
After connecting your device to the computer, its icon appears in iTunes. Click the icon.
From the File menu, choose "Transfer Purchases from 'Your device name.'"

  • HT1848 I had my Iphone in sync with iTunes in my desktop PC. I had purchased musics from iTunes Store and musics I did transfer from original CDs (legacy ones). How can I recover my whole music assests on Iphone to my iTunes in my notebook PC ?

I had my Iphone in sync with iTunes in my desktop PC. I had purchased musics from iTunes Store and musics I did transfer from original CDs (legacy ones). I no longer have my CDs once I did donate it to a public library. How can I recover my whole music assests on Iphone to my iTunes in my notebook PC ? At this time I only know how to transfer Apple Store purchased items.

iTunes will only import music purchased from the iTunes store.  If you need to import music to iTunes from your phone that wasn't purchased from iTunes you will need to use 3rd party software to do so, such as Touch Copy.

  • Purchased music in iTunes but not sync'd to iPhone music player

I can log into iTunes, view all my music including purchased music in iTunes, but the music is not sync'd to my iPhone. All other sync'd applications including MS Calendar, Comcast mail account, pictues, etc worked just fine. Why is the music sync feature not working with my new phone??

In order to sync music or videos to our iphone, it has to exist in your Library and not just under the itunes store. If the music does not show up in the library section, click on store at the top of itunes and check for purchases.
If it comes back with a message that all purchases are downloaded, you will need to log into your itunes store account and go to purchase history to report a problem with the particular items purchased.
To log into your itunes store account and view purchase history:
Open the iTunes store and click on your email address in the upper right corner.
Enter your password and choose view account in the window that pops up.
When your account opens you will see a button to view purchase history.
In purchase history you can report a problem for any item purchased.

  • I have purchased music from itunes on my iphone and it won't show up in my Ipod music library on my phone.  It shows up in my itunes library on my computer.  This is a recent glitch as up until this week purchased music downloads fine on phone.

I purchased music on itunes on my iphone and the songs won't show up in my music library on the phone.  They are on my computer itunes library but it won't let me transfer the purchases back to my phone (which I have never had to do before).  Never had this problem before this week when purchasing music on my iphone.
My Itunes library on my laptop is slightly different from my Iphone library so I don't want to erase and sync the entire library.

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.

If I open up the iTunes app and select "purchased > music > not on this iphone" it tells me "All of your available music has been downloaded to this device." However, my purchases are not yet downloaded to the iphone and not available to download. If I go to "purchased > music > all > recent purchases" it will show me the purchases that were most recent the last time I synced my phone, but not the purchases since then.
Any thoughts on how I can remedy this and make all of my purchased music available on my phone without requiring syncing?

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • My ipod was set up on a Mac. Now I have a PC and want to sync my music on iTunes, but I can't without reformatting my drive and losing my music.

My ipod was set up on a Mac. Now I have a PC and want to sync my music on iTunes, but I can't without reformatting my drive and losing my music. Help. I no longer have a Mac. I want to keep the music and videos I purchased. Since it is an iPod classic (80GB) I cannot even use the iCloud. Is there a way to move my ipod's music so I can reformat it to my pc?

WIndows is asking you to reformat the iPod's hard disk because it's probably in the Mac OS X Extended Journaled file system format which the Windows OS can neither read or write to.  Reformatting will erase all content from the device and rebuild the filesystem as FAT32 unless you specify it as NTFS (which you shouldn't do).
If you want to be able to use your iPod to copy music from your Mac to your PC, you'll need to either pre-format it as FAT32 using Disk Utility on your Mac and then copy everything over to your PC, or use third party software such as XPlay that allows a Windows PC to read and write to a Mac formatted iPod.
Perhaps you could take a look at this article for other ways to copy your iTunes library and files from your Mac to the PC.
