Syncing purchased tv shows from mac to atv

My husband purchased several tv programs, which were immediately loaded onto the mac.
How do I get them off the mac and back onto the
ATV and into the shared file?

Firstly it's crucial you do not delete them from iTunes unless you have a backup of the files on DVD or hard rive as there's no way to manually pull shows/music off AppleTV - this is a one-off reverse sync to the synced computer - it allows you to backup and keeps AppleTV and computer in 'sync'.
NOTE - DELETE THEM FROM iTunes and they may well be deleted for good from AppleTV too.
Chances are if they're not on appleTV that you have the device sync settings in iTunes set to only sync unwatched episodes or so many unwatched episodes - check the iTunes device sync preferences.

I am purchasing tv shows from the itunes store to my macbook pro.  I can't sync them to my itouch.  I used to get 2 version to download an HD and non HD no longer happening.  What is the problem?  Never had an issue before just started.

You did everything 'right' and yet in most cases such as you present, it turns out to be a bad SATA cable 99% of the time.
I, too, have a Late 2011 15" model and never had a problem with my SATA cable and my SSD. Most people don't. But then there are those few who do.
You can likely find a 'warrantied' cable on www.ifixit.com - however, I've never heard of anyone having problems with the much less expensive options on eBay!

I purchased tv shows from iTunes and keep getting a download error tap to retry.  Why don't the shows download?  What can I do?

    Hello there Julfos,
I recommend this part of the article named iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1725.
If you cannot complete the download on your device, you can finish the download in iTunes on your computer and then sync it to your device. For instructions, see the following articles:
iTunes Store: Where can I download and sync my purchases?
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    Additional Information
If your purchase does not resume downloading after following the steps in this article, you can also try the following steps to troubleshoot the download issue.
    Restart your computer or device.
Check for updates for your Mac or PC and install any software updates. Also, check for and install updates for any security software you may have (anti-virus, anti-malware, firewall, and so on).
If using Wi-Fi for Internet access, try using a different Wi-Fi network when downloading. If you are connecting to a home network, try restarting your Wi-Fi router. Also, check for and install any firmware updates for your Wi-Fi router. (Refer the manufacturer's website for your router to get information on updating its firmware).
If that does not resolve the issue then I recommend quitting all the apps running with this article, and trying again.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Perhaps even forgetting your home network and rejoining it.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
    Or resetting your network settings.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

If you go to System Preferences > Network do you see other networks listed on the left panel?  Is the lock in the lower left corner closed?  If not, highlight your network, then close the lock so you block other networks.

  • When I purchase a show from ATV how can I watch it on my iPad?

Whenever you purchase a show it says this programme can only be watched on Apple TV, iPhone or iPad. So how do I watch it on the iPad? The films or shows don't appear in my iTunes library. Where are they? Can I put them on my iPad and then go traveling?

In your videos app, go to the store and then the purchased section, you should see all your purchases listed there.

  • How do I move purchased tv show from one computer to another - same acct.

I have multiple computers that are all authorized to use the same iTunes Store account. I purchased a season pass to a TV show and when new episodes become available, my daughter's computer is first to download. I would like to also play those episodes on other authorized computers in the house. How do I go about this? I tried to move the show from my daughter's computer to my iPad and then move from my iPad up to my computer but it will not let me do that. Tips are apreciated.

Copy them to dvd, flash drive, external drive, etc.
What was the problem with the ipad?
Sync it to ipad, then without syncing, connect the ipad and click File>Transfer Purchases

  • How to export purchased tv shows from my iMac to Apple TV

it will show up automatically once a device (iPod, TV) is connected, IIRC.
on the TV, go to settings, then computers. is your Mac showing with a little "link" symbol ?
are you being offered a choice to pair a library (not a shared library - you don't want that) ?

  • Sync to pull iCal from Mac to iCal on iPhone

On my Mac, I run Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, and just started entering events on iCal.
On my iPhone 4, I just added the iCal app.
I then followed these instructions for syncing.
    Syncing Your Calendar Via ITunes
    Step 1
Launch iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone using its USB cable.
    Step 2
Select the iPhone from the "Devices" list in iTunes and open the "Info" tab.
    Step 3
Select "iCal" in the "Sync Calendars With" section and click the "Sync" button. Your iPhone's Calendar syncs with iCal on your Mac.
My iPhone iCal shows old *Google* calendar entries. How can I change/sync sync, pulling existing Mac *iCal* entries to my iPhone iCal app?
    Tips
Check the "Sync With This iPhone Over Wi-Fi" box in the iTunes "Summary" tab to allow your iPhone to sync with your Mac whenever it is connected to a power outlet and the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
Now I see events on my iPhone iCal that were pulled from a Google calendar that I no longer want to use.
    1) How can I change settings/sync to pull the existing iCal events on my Mac and transfer them to my iPhone iCal app?
    2) What is the hierarchy? Meaning, when I sync, is the Mac iCal or iPhone iCal considered to be the "accurate" version? Or, during the sync, will it look for the version with the most recent (new or edited) event, then update the other iCal making both current?
In advance, thank you for assistance!

Have him try putting the checkmark back in front of "Sync Photos From" on the Photos page of iTunes and change the selection of photos to be synced so that only one or two new photos is selected (and none of the existing ones) and then sync. If that removes the existing ones, then remove the checkmark and sync again.
Sync instructions in the following link if needed: iTunes: Syncing photos

  • WHEN YOU PURCHASE RV SHOWS FROM ITUNES ARE YOU ABLE TO PUT IT ON A DVD AND WATCH ON A REAL TV?

When you purchase a TV show from itunes are you able to put it on a DVD to watch on a real TV?

Sorry, but no, you can't. The content owners won't allow Apple to allow that feature. You can back up your videos, but you cannot convert them to any other format. If you want play video/movie content purchased from the iTunes Store on your TV, you'll need to connect your computer to your TV or use an iOS device or iPod (one with video out) or an Apple TV.

  • Purchased TV Show from iTunes directly downloaded to iPhone 3G not playing

    Hey everyone,
I've just run into a weird issue, I just purchased & downloaded an episode of a TV show over a Wi-Fi network directly onto my iPhone 3G running the latest firmware. The download completed successfully, but when I try to play the TV Show from the iPod menu the iPhone gives me 'This movie could not be played' error message, even though everything looks ok.
I am currently on holiday in the United States (not sure if it's relevant but I have an Australian iTunes account) and do not have access to my computer to try and troubleshoot the problem properly.
Any ideas as to why this could have happened or has anyone encountered a problem like this before? I'm a bit peeved because I paid for it and have no way of re-downloading.

I curently have, and have had in the past, a simmilar problem, except that the file will begin to play (in this latest case the first 48 seconds). Then the image will freeze on a frame, the sound will stop, while the scrub bar will still count upward (says that 49 seconds have played, then 50 seconds, then 51, etc). If I try to fast forward, the frame goes black, with no sound. I can rewind to the beginning, and play the first 48 seconds all I like, but always ends on the same frame.
As I said, this is not the first episode with this has happened. I've only ever tried downloading "Hero's". The first time it happened was a season 3 episode on a second generation iphone running the then current firmware. I am currently using an iphone 3GS with version 3.1.2 firmware.

  • HT5085 No re-download on previously purchased TV Shows from Itunes Germany

Is there any information about why in Germany it is not possible to '(re-)download previously purchased TV Shows? It is a pain to pay for something and then not be able to download it again in case of loosing the Hard Disk Data on my Pc.

I'm having the same problem.  I purchased a SD season pass for a show and when I tried to download the newest episode I couldn't access the SD version.  When I click on the SD button nothing happens.  The only option it gives me is to download the HD version which means I would have to repurchase the episode.  I haven't had any response from Itunes support.  It hasn't been a problem in previous weeks.

  • Streaming rentals from mac to ATV - possible?

    Hi,
I've recently purchased the new 2nd gen Apple TV. I have to say it's great for streaming content from out three macs to watch/listen on the TV. However, last night we tried to rent out "How to Train Your Dragon", and have been met with the "it will take X hours and XX minutes" before it is ready to play. We're on a 6Mbps connection, with average download speeds of c. 4Mbps (tested on several sites).
We let the movie download overnight, which it did, and I hit play to see if it would start, which it did. I then paused it, as my fiance was in the shower, and when she joined me, the **** thing has started to download all over again. So we're in for another 4-8 hour wait (depending on what ATV is telling us). And our 48 hour watch period has now been activated! I'll definitely be asking for a refund on this rental.
Now, what I wanted to ask is, would it be possible to rent a movie on one of our macs and then stream the rental to the Apple TV? Has anybody tested this to see if it would work?
The only other option I see, other than renting things hours in advance and praying that they will actually have finished in time (and actually play), is to download the SD versions instead. Does anyone know if there is very diminished quality when watching the SD versions on a 32" LCD TV?
    Thanks for your help!

    Rule of thumb:
The larger the TV the more you need HD.
it also depends if you are sitting too close, too far away or the correct distance from the TV.
many either sit far too close or too far away.
on my 32" (before i upgraded it), it was very apparent the difference between SD and HD (on both appletv and broadcast TV). On my new 40" it is much the same (although the panel on this new TV is far superior than then 32").
